Hi,
i have themed/edited Settings.apk, then i recompiled/signed/zipaligned without warnings with ApkTool, but once overwritten original Settings.apk and chmoded to 0644 i can't restart the phone, it is stuck on "Android starting" or "updating" (i can't remember the correct text showing). Now i resored the original apk and all is working fine.
Am i missing something? I have used framework-res and framework-htc.
I'm on rooted stock rom latest firmware, no xposed.
Thanks and sorry for my bad english.

So i tried to remove the gps disabled icon in the status bar by pushing a modified com.htc.resources to my evo, but of course i ended up putting it in a boot loop. so does anyone have an unmodified com.htc.resouces. if it matters i was on Fresh 3.3.0.1(the latest one).
EDIT: Ok so i tried reflashing fresh and that worked, so i got the com.htc. resources apk on the root of my sdcard... but i cant figure out how to push it to the phone. Can someone at least help me with this step???
Hiya,
I wanted to mod the UI and use X-theme and in my idiocy somehow missed that I would need 2.3.3.
I'm on a Japanese docomo SO-01C, and soon as I threw those files into their respective system folders and rebooted, I'm now stuck in bootloop. What options do I have to fix this? I'm rooted but have no unlocked the bootloader.
FWIW, the two files that go in /system/framework had no replacements, ie they weren't there before. Only had to replace SystemUI.apk in the app folder, which I backed up.
Reflash....
Hello guys....
I've accidentally backuped and removed my stock ClockPackage.apk from my i8150...
I've tried to restore by the same app, but did not working.
I've also tried to copy back the original Apk (i've it in backup folder of Rom Toolbox), tried to install...but still nothing.
The odex file it is also still there...
So, for now i've just installed an alternative clock/alarm from market, and it is working (but have Ads!), but...there is a method to have back Clock app in app drawer?
PS:
And, pls... do not say "have you a nandroid backup"?
Yes, i Have, but i just want to know if there is a method to restore the app in few steps
[SOLVED]
Ok... solved, also if i do not know exactly how
For future references...
I had already bring the apk back to system/app, where is located also the odex file.
Nothing was happened, also after restart...
Then, i tried to install the clockpackage.apk from the AOSP gingerbread, and it gave me the same error (App not installed).
But, like in a miracle, after this, app is back to the app drawer
Happy ending!
have you change the permission when you push the apk in system/app ?
just want to ask

Great thread spino1970, mostly because I made the same mistake you did, lol...
Now I really need your help... Could you kindly attach the ClockPackage.apk and the odex file in this thread so that I can use it too??? Thanks a lot man!!! I was trying to get rid of those useless widgets and made a mistake...
[Update]
I managed to get the ClockPackage.apk and the ClockPackage.odex from another device (running on 2.3.5 instead of 2.3.6) and now I get the following error while trying to install the apk:
"Parse Error: There is a problem parsing the package"
Does anybody know what to do?
this is my first time trying to edit my framework apk. i used apktool, decompiled it, made the changes, recompiled it, then moved the resources file from my brand new apk i just compiled, into the old apk, then flash the old apk... correct? i have tried every single variation of these and cannot get a single change to work. its as if it was never changed at all. im trying to remove my navbar on jbsourcery 3.1, (a 4.1.2 rom) and cant find a single way to do it that works. after 4 hrs of trying every single method i can imagine, reading every guide about apk editing i can find, nothing is working. can someone please help?
Guys can you help me out,
I was trying to edit SystemUI.apk with this tuto http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2527867 Then I needed to put it on my phone following this tuto http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2235956
Now my phone keeps putting "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped." I tried rebooting, same thing. What did I do wrong? Maybe in the signing? The video tutorial used "zipalign -fv 4 ...." command while I read on other tutorials you should copy the original manifest and I don't know which files but in the video he didn't do it...
Please help, the error message keeps coming in the way and I can't to anything.
LG Nitro HD, CM 10.1.3 Wind kernel.
EDIT: I managed to have access to CWM by fast clicking before the error appears so I could reboot into recovery, does this help?
EDIT 2: The video told us to replace old meta-inf and android manifest in the new apk but he didn't show it so I didn't do it, was that the problem?

I re edited systemui.apk with signing this time then I put it in a flashable zip file the author of the status bar modding gave me and then I sideloaded it in CWM and flashed it. Now I can use my phone but my status bar has disappeared.
What do you advise me to do? To reflash the original SystemUI.apk of my rom? I will try all this tomorrow.
Edit: I forgot to say that I had disabled SystemUI because if I enable it the error will come again.
So I tried to I tried reputting my original SystemUI.apk and flashing it but I still didn't have the toolbar and the crashes. So I think I am gonna reinstall my ROM like you said.
Solved
Finally I made it
I factory reset the phone and wiped cache but the root was gone so I re rooted it and reflashed my custom rom and gaaps and kernel,
Then I followed this tuto http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2203166 that was much simpler and easier than the video one I saw previously for editing systemUI.apk and how to compile/recompile.
I pushed it through via file manager after I set the correct permissions and rebooted my phone. Now the status bar has my text in it
