Help getting data on AT&T w/ Verizon pixel - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

So I just went out and bought a Pixel Xl on Verizon and tried switching it to AT&T but I get no data. I bought the phone with device payments because they wouldn't let me buy it outright. I plan on cancelling the contract (but will pay off the phone). Because I got it on installments through Verizon, would this keep me from getting data on AT&T.
I adjusted APN settings accordingly and talked with AT&T support who said phone shows it is active and they are not sure what is going on.

I got my Pixel XL a couple of weeks ago from Verizon with the payment plans. I took the SIM Card from my daughters ATT iPhone and had issues right away. No Data or MMS.
I then tried putting my Verizon SIM in to another Verizon phone. My thought was to re-register my SIM and number with another device, thus releasing the Pixel from that number. Restarted the Pixel with the ATT Sim. Now Data, MMS. 4GLTE at 12-16 Mbps. No Advanced call though.

Going to try that now. Thank you
Update: contacted Verizon and they went ahead and paired the sim with a dummy imei and took the pixel off their network. Everything works great now.

Help with apn settings on ATT

I have gone though all the posts that I can find about the right apn setting for a GN on ATT.
I have tried the following.
1. The default, Cingular 410. This gets me somewhat connected. I connect, but pings are way hight and speed is 1 MB down and if I am luck 500 Kb up.
2. I have tried pta / phone. Seems to connect but I can not get online.
I went to a ATT store and had them make sure I was provisioned for a HSDPA+ plan, with I think is the smartphone plan.
This sim came from a Vivid. So it was provisioned for LTE.
Any suggestions on what steps I need to take to get a reliable connection on my GN. Dam I like this phone, but bringing an unlocked phone to ATT is a pain...
Thanks
Matt
You shouldnt have to setup anything. I popped in my att sim and all apn was automatically entered. Its a 5 year old sim.
What did you change?
My AT&T SGS2 (my Galaxy Nexus is T-Mobile) wasn't connecting to data although it had the correct APNs.
I called them and it turned out they needed to switch over the data plan to a "4G smartphone data plan" on their end (from a BlackBerry data plan that it had before). Your issue may be that you are still on the LTE plan. For the Galaxy Nexus, the correct plan would most likely be the 4G smartphone plan.
The APNs that I have on the SGS2:
Name: ATT PHONE
APN: Phone
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
APN type: internet
everything else is <Not set>
then I have a 2nd APN (which I guess is needed for MMS)
Name: ATT WAP
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
Port: 80
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
APN type: mms,supl
everything else is <Not set>
I have the ATT PHONE APN selected and everything works (including sending and receiving MMS) just fine.
Hope this helps
No go.
I went to ATT and had them put me on a LTE plan.
Still no data.
I added variations of the pta apn and it alway reverts back to the cingular apn.

From what I understand you do not want to be on a LTE plan as Gnex is not an LTE activated phone, this can cause spotty or zero coverage for data.
Make sure your on 4g smartphone data plan, maybe try a new sim card and then pop in these settings:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1149523.html
You should be good to then!
PS:
You only need the phone and mms apns!
That's right, the GSM Galaxy Nexus doesn't have LTE. I'm certain changing the data plan to the 4G smartphone plan (non-LTE) will fix OP's issue.
ATT won't put me on a 4g plan. They say the nexus is not reconized on the system and it defaults to a 3g plan.
They can not override it.
There only solution is for me to get another 4g phone that is att branded. Get 4g plan put on my account and then move that sim..
Dam, this sucks.

there's a whole thread about this but I'm mobile and can't search for it... title was something like here's how I got 4g on att us... google it! I read it called yesterday fought with them for an hour went to level 2 tech support finally got them to activate a matrix on my account by an imei I found on the internet *shhhhh they don't know that and had them reactivate my nexus. I gotta be honest though it did nothing for my speeds :/ but my plan is now data pro 2gigabytes for 4g smart phones!
Edit:
Found it

I've tried many apns and nothing gives me these double and triple speeds!!! I also have a 4g sin card but might try a new one just for the hell of it!

Dam, this is just about the worst Nexus I have owned. I have tried all the US radios and the xx radios, but my connection just plain sucks.
I have done the IMEI changing thing and they gave me a plan that says:
"SMT Personal" on the bill" and when I go into manage my features it says: "Smartphone bundle: Data Plan for SmartPhones. Unlimited domestic data usage. Only available for upgrades. Requires customers to be on a "Gold List" SmartPhone Plan prior to upgrade to 4G device."
Is this the correct 4G (HSPA+) plan for those changing from an iPhone unlimited plan?

Do you have an unlimited data plan? If so, AT&T seems to be throttling people that still have the unlimited data plans.
Took my Yakjuzs to ATT (purchased in HK), they scanned the IMEI of the phone (behind battery) then put that in the system and gave me a new SIM, my old one was iPhone from about 2 years ago.
On Sunday AM when everyone is asleep I get upwards of 6 meg down and 1 up, just now got 2 down and .5 up.
So, it varies. I live in Orlando Fl area.
I got no special SIM, nothing out of the ordinary and it's fast enough for me. Is it LTE fast? No, but I chose the Nexus and with that the speed penalty.
It's the same speed as my old "4G" Motorola Atrix.

Well LA is a whole lot more congested than Buffalo and you still got a better speed than I do even during off hours! Best I have ever had as dl was 6mb down I may go start a fight at my local att corporate store today

Sure I am on the right plan for data, 4g smartphone.
Using the 410 apn, I get great speeds, at night.
At 8am, I can't get online. Pings are so high, the phone is useless.
I have tried 4.0.4 and all the radios that are published.
Might be selling this dog.
While my Vivid is able to get online np and keep a connection. While the Nexus required multiple battery pulls, though out the day to get online.

Yeah and i ran the test right at 5pm rush hour sitting on the freeway parking lot. But some areas here do give crap network, just not that spot.
Some more help needed
So, I have an Vivid. I had ATT set me up for LTE. This works fine with my Vivid. Moving that sim to my GN and using the pta apn
While I do connect, I can't even run speed test.
I am somewhat lost on what plan on ATT I need and what apn I need on the GN for it work on HSDPA+ or 4G.
Any help and or suggestions??
Even using the default apn, cingular 401, my speeds and horrible. The phone is un usable.

Htc one x on tmobile - issues

Just switched from an hd2 a couple days ago so the android os is new to me. I do have a few issues in which tmobile is clueless and won't help with being that they don't sell the one x. It's the unlocked international version
1-Will not send or download pics in texts. Sending failed after multiple attempts on ul or general network failure on dl
2-one x does not recognize the newer tmobile micro sim. I've read that I need to find a tmobile store with the older version. Until then under mobile network settings it will say no sim card foud and all apn settings must be done manually
3- manually transfer 500 phone numbers
I'm hoping that solving #2 will also fix #1. After inputting apn I do have Internet. Anyone xperience this yet? Thanks guys

you will need to change the message centre for MMS messages for pictures in texts, like changing the APN.
backup your contacts from the hd2 onto your google account, then sync with the android phone
Any clue how to change the message settings?
Never had a google account with the hd2 but I'm opening one today.

best bet. find a tmobile store if you have one near you and take the phone and ask one of the members of staff there to help you out. best solution really.
or call the customer service line and go through your issues and surely they will help you out. as the poster above you probably need your sms and mms settings to be send so they are set up for you to send and receive.
regarding the sim card i am not sure. probably the new card needs activating. again speak to the carrrier for that.
Tmobile online support told me there's nothing he could do being that tmobile doesn't carry the one x. I called cs and she was cool. We went through and did the apn settings per tmobile but I still have the picture issue. Advance tech support said idk as well. They both said to try the sim issue and see what happens.
I'm sure someone else has had this issue right?

do you have your mobile data on when trying to send a picture message or receiving?
Message/service center number was already present in the phone and correct.

Just found the older micro sims locally. I'll report back in a couple hours
I'm extremely interested in seeing how things work out for you. I currently have a DX on Verizon but my contract is almost up and am planning on jumping ship for T-Mobile's $30/month unlimited data plan (and hopefully using a HOX)...

I bought a t mob sim in NYC a few weeks ago. They tried to get mobile networking and mms working for an hour or so then realized the phone was not compatible with their current network. Supposedly some areas have the proper band for it. Hope it works where you are at.

Any chance the One X can be flashed to work on tmobile like the Skyrocket?
one x
I was going to buy a one x but tmobile tech support told me that the network band frequency's are different and the most i will get is 2G. I am about to call htc and will update with anythng
Correct. Edge aka 2g data is all you will get for now.
You see, T Mo USA uses their 1900 MHz PCS band exclusively for 2g traffic. 3g data (HSPA) and "4g" (HSPA+) is used in the 1700/2100 AWS bands.
T Mobile is reframing their 3g and HSPA+ to the 1900 MHz band and will have true 4g (4th generation) LTE on those 1700/2100 AWS frequencies (previously used for 3g).
I have the international One X on T Mobile USA and am patiently waiting for the network to modernize their infrastructure. Supposedly, between now and the end of the year.

any way either of you could get me a 50.01? say its for a friend and mail it out to me and ill cover mailing, and then i can activate it myself? or tell me where you got it from?
atvxda i love your sig and also, it makes me feel so comforted and not alone as i felt before now knowing that you also are waiting for the bands change.
My newer micro sim did not allow me to save the Tmobile apn . Switched it to my wife's older sim that I cut down to a micro for her iphone. Entered the T-Mobile APN hit the save button and of course it worked. I was then surprised when I switched my sim back in and it still worked. Had a few 50.01 SIMS ready but did not have to cut any down and call T-Mobile to switch them.

wow, thanks for that tip! i dont know about you guys but honestly, the s3 is better. i had this mindset that touchwiz is crap and the s3s physical home button is ****ty, super lcd is better than amoled and all that. but i bought my dad an s3 and i fell in love with it. it has much better battery life for a few reasons: touchwiz is light, useful, clean, and good looking. amoled has more true blacks, and the 2100 mah battery. moreover, just plop one in your wallet (on ebay for $3) and there is no way possible you could lose battery. removable back is also replaceable with a more stylish and secure back from ebay ($7). i mention that because i really liked the one x for its beautiful polycarbonate backing when really the s3 can have something even more sleek like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/40033322089...eName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 or this http://www.ebay.com/itm/28093857636...eName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

[Q] Unlocked Note 2 being picked up by AT&T

Was wondering if anyone using international unlocked Galaxy Note 2 being picked up by AT&T for using a smartphone. I had been using unlocked N900, Galaxy Note 1 on old $15 Unlimited data plan without any issues until recently AT&T started discovering my smartphone. Called customer care and got the old plan reverted but after 24 hrs it turns back to smartphone data plan and surprisingly got email from them today "Please be aware, the phone currently being used on the line is a Samsung Galaxy Note II which is a Smartphone and requires a data plan." Wonder if Samsung advertised their International IMEI numbers to AT&T or else how would they know am using a specific brand of phone.
When I was using mine it was under the 15 dollar unlimited they tried taking my unlimited 30 dollar data so I switched to a lumia and use my note 2 on a 15

I've been using a N7100 for a couple of weeks now on the data for non-Smartphones plan. It replaced a Teg3 One X. A lot of people have been flagged. I think whether you are or not depends on which plan you're on and which APN you use. My AT&T service was started with me bringing my own device (a i9100) and I've never received a device subsidy. I'm on a post-paid plan but because I brought my own device I can terminate at will. I'm Premier through work so the account was set up by them and they FedEx'd me the SIMs (including going to a microSIM for the One X). There's also no IMEI showing on either of the two lines I have (the other's for a 3G Note 10.1). The APN I use is what populates from the SIM and I haven't had to make any changes. Everything works and I get 6-8MB download speeds. So I'm guessing why I haven't been flagged has something to do with a combination of the above.
P.S. - I had a heavy data month this period and each device ran close to 8GB of data.
My APN are the same old settings i had for my previous phones even the same on Note 1 my data usage is barely 500 - 600 MB

They can pull the IMEI number but unless Samsung provides them with IMEI details they wont know what phone i am using. Samsung must have advertised international note details to all providers.

I've been running on GoPhone's $50 dumb phone plan since October. Today Att finally caught me riding dirty and turned off my data, they even blocked the Nexus 4, so evidently ATT updated their imei rejection database. I had to go back to using my modded Note1 inorder to run out the month.

Net10 Wireless now supports LTE

This isn't exactly NEW information, but it's something that I had just noticed. I knew that StraightTalk had introduced LTE into their prepaid plan, but apparently Net10 has as well. Granted, it's not unlimited data, but for the average user, 2.5GB should be more than plenty.
I've been on Net10 since July of this year. It's been pretty solid so far and my only complaint was the lack of 4G/LTE service. After flashing the new MK2 modems today I noticed for the first time that my Network Icon was showing 4G LTE; not just the standard 4G when connected to 3G or H+. Also Settings->About Phone->Status shows me as being connected to LTE... so just throwing that out there.
I'll throw out my APN settings that have working MMS and everything; although I do believe they're the standard APN settings on Net10's page.

This looks promising. In your opinion then, there's no downside at all to doing this? I don't use Wifi calling so I would not miss that. What kind of data speeds do you actually get? If it's even close to what I get now (mid 20's, usually), I'm sold. The only concern I have is this sentence in their "transferring a number" section: In order to transfer or port in your phone number to NET10 you must have a NET10 wireless phone. I plan on calling them to clarify, but does this mean I can't bring my current number over with my phone, that I would need to buy one from them? That would be a deal breaker. Thank you.

I didn't see a down side. I was fine just getting 3G as I'm not usually in an LTE area anyway. Why pay $90 a month when you can get pretty much the same exact coverage for half the price? I came from AT&T and have the same coverage as i did previously.
As far as speeds go, I was just shy of 20 down when I tested the other day. I would upload a picture of it now, but I'm not getting too great of speeds where I am right now. Currently I'm only getting about 7 down and 12 up.. But I'm also in the middle of nowhere atm. I'm getting the same down speed on LTE here with 2-3 bars as i do on full bars of 3G. Upload is considerably slower on 3G though.
As far as porting your number, yes you can port it. It's a simple process and I do believe their website explains how to do it. I think I called though and had them do it over the phone. I do remember that your number still had to be active on your current network.. As in don't cancel your service until you set up net10. In fact, once you start the porting process, they take care of canceling your current service anyway.
And you don't need to buy a device from them, check the BYOP (bring your own phone) program.
Attached is a screenshot from a recent speedtest.

This isn't exactly NEW information, but it's something that I had just noticed. I knew that StraightTalk had introduced LTE into their prepaid plan, but apparently Net10 has as well

FYI Net10 IS StraightTalk. In fact the APN settings are the same when using the new AT&T ST sim as the ones you posted :good:

Net10 is StraightTalk's non-WalMart-subsidized side. I know they use the same APN's, but while StraightTalk had 4G, Net10 was stuck on 3G.

Straight talk have LTE for their AT&T sims not on tmobile sims.

Sold my phone to a relative, now no 4G

I picked up the new Google Pixel XL and sold my OnePlus 3 to my uncle. He went to AT&T and went through 3 sim cards with no 4G.
I put my sim back in the OP3 and I get service but no 4g, so it'll make calls but can't send/receive pictures. I checked that the network is on 4g and the APN is on nextgenphone.
Any ideas?
Sounds like your APN is wrong. I am on AT&T and I get 4G LTE speeds without issue. The APN name you listed sounds wrong. Mine is just ATT Phone and again works without issue.
Compare against the settings here:

I had him add the ATT phone APN and still no 4G. Ive always used NXTGENPHONE and gotten 4G
