This only happens on aosp CM ROMs....people are telling me they can hear themselves talking and echoing back when I try to use the voice call speakerphone. This doesn't happen on stock ROMs. Does anybody else have this issue or does anybody no of a fix or work around???
I'm running on cm13 and people tell me they have a hard time hearing me with echo when i put them on speakerphone, and i have to get off it. I don't hear any echo of my own voice on my end. Seems this is an issue that doesn't appear to have any resolutions (not that i can find thus far...).

I am also interested if anyone has fixed this problem.
Same issue with echo on G3 VS985
I also noticed this after switching to CM 13 ROM and now with crDroid 1.5 which is based on CM 14.1.
The echo goes away for the caller when I mute my microphone, so I can still use the speaker and then unmute when I want to talk - obviously not ideal but it seems to work.

Just flashed miui 1.1.14...is anyone else having echo problems while on a call. The problem seems to be occurring on the other end of the call and only if I am using speaker phone on my end. Callers are telling me they are hearing an echo when they talk if I am on speaker phone. The echo problem did not occur on miui 1.1.7.
I flashed that same rom, last night and just checked speaker while on a call and it works for me.
Try re downloading and wipe proper then reflash, maybe something corrupted
Swyped from a galaxy far far away......
Generally most echos I hear are from 3 specific people in my call list. I have to believe that since 80% of the people I call on a regular basis have zero echo that it must be the phones/carrier of the 3 people I mentioned earlier. *shrug*
I posted a thread about this over at miui-dev and many other people have come forward saying they have the same issue. It has been acknowledged by the devs and they are looking into it for the next build.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I'm running cm13 nightly (23.12.2015) on my d855 and the other person on the line hears himself when I use the speaker.
Is this a known problem?
I have the same problem, glad to know I'm not the only one!
Vs985 12/24 cm13 nightly
In my opinion try turning down the volume on the speaker i had the issue bad and it fixxed it the microphone picks up the other party talking and kinda puts it in a forced audio loop hence the echo
I am facing extremely poor call quality on m op3. it all started when my device's call volume became extremely low all of a sudden..as workaround i strted using the modified mixer_paths_tasha.xml file, which worked really well for a few months.. then again my woes started as people started complaining of getting echoes whenever they made a call to me.. And I have been facing the same issue ever since. even going back to stock rom didnt solve it. It has literally left my device unusable as a daily driver.....:crying::crying:

++for people having this echo problem, install DeFluence app.. The echo subsides, but then the volume still remains unbearably low.. Phone can't be used in the streets..

Maybe there's dust trapped in the earpiece
I have this exact same issue. I can barely hear anyone through my earpiece. Also when using my handsfree it seems every few secs the person can't hear me though I can hear them the whole time :s
+1 with the low volume on ANY rom installed. A workout(ish) for this can be done with this or this or maybe this or if you like odd tryies like some ppl did here just go ahead and try them
+1 Earpiece volume is poor. Have to press the phone over my ears to hear. Unable to hear with any ambient noise.
Also have the problem of the calls going completely silent for a few seconds.. neither party can hear each other. Its not the network since I have tried other phones to eliminate the network.
Last OnePlus device for me
I'm having an issue where I get bad feedback/echo on calls using the speakerphone. Notice it a lot in Google Duo & in the regular phone, the audio cuts out whenever there is someone speaking to me, and the recipient gets choppy audio as well, as if the phone is struggling to eliminate feedback.
I know the speakerphone is crappy & quiet, that's not my problem, has anyone else experienced problems with echo/audio getting choppy when using the speakerphone? Any tips on how to mitigate?
Using CM-14.1 Nightly
I know this is going to sound too simple to be true.... try a different rom.
It is also good to ask over at th Lineage thread as you are more likely to find someone with the same issue there.
I've seen a few mentions here and there on rom threads about issues with the i747 speakerphone - but no responses as to how to/it was fixed - specifically not being able to control speakerphone volume as well as echo on the other end of the call when trying to use speakerphone.
I've had the issue on OctOS and Slim roms, both 7x and 6x android versions, but not having an issue if going back to stock rom. The volume and clarity is fine & adjustable when using the handset, but when you switch to speakerphone in call it is really loud and the clarity is bad (it cuts out every other word or so) as well as the person on the other end says they can hear themselves. When pressing the hardware volume keys the on screen indicator is showing lowering the volume, but it doesn't have much if any impact on the volume coming out of the speakerphone.
What needs to be updated or flashed to take care of the speakerphone issues?
Same (but different) on basic Lineage rom
I also recently tried a base Lineage 14 rom (lineage-14.1-20180531-UNOFFICIAL-d2att). There is definitely a noticeable change in speakerphone volume when its adjusted with this rom however the echo persists.
I TWRP'd back to a recent Oct-N backup since it was fully setup already and the base Lineage didn't fix the issue. I paired a Bluetooth headset while on Oct-N and it works just fine, so that's a workaround for not being able to use the speaker.
It seems to me the echo is being caused by the speakerphone mic picking up the speaker audio. Is there a way to adjust echo cancellation or the sensitivity of the speakerphone mic (not seeing anything in basic settings menus)?
