Problem with Google Apps using GPS. - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

I got strange GPS behaviour with my new OnePlus 3.
Symptoms:
1. Google Apps (like Maps or Fit) won't use GPS to determine the position. This is checked by GPS Status & Toolbox. If I start GPS Status & Toolbox by itself it directly hits up GPS. Same with non Google apps like HERE or EXIF Location Tags in photoapps.
2. When I start navigation on Google Maps it starts using GPS. When I stop it, GPS usage stops too.
3. When I force Google Play Services to stop everything works flawless. Maps and Fit start using GPS as it should be. After restarting the phone, Google Play Services is back up and same issues occur as stated above.
Tried with newest CB, 3.2.4 and Resurrection Remix (BJRR). My Google Play Services is 9.8.77 but I already tried older versions without success. I googled this problem, found something similar in google product forums (https://productforums.google.com/forum/m/#!topic/maps/l-YG1DB8jyQ) without solution.
Somebody know this problem or has any suggestions?

I know I have had a similar issue with my phone (Stock updated OOS rooted w/TWRP and Xposed) rebooting all the time during navigation, random loss of GPS-based location and being forced to reboot to bring it back, etc. I've had no issue with the rest of Google Apps, though.

GPS (compass) lock issues

Begin this month, after I came back from a holiday, I suddenly got problems with my GPS.
First I thought it was due to the Google Play Services upgraded to 5.0.84.
The past few days I re-installed multiple times my Xperia ZL (C6503).
When the issues began, I had the Ultimate PureXZL v2 installed. First I reinstalled it, updated all apps. Same problem. Sometimes I got a GPS lock, but after a while I lost it. I used Google Maps, Navigon and a anti radar app Avertinoo. All without luck.
I did a rollback to Xperia ZL (C6503)_10.3.1.A.2.67_Generic DE.ftf, rooted it and upgraded to 10.4.1.B.0.101. Installed Xposed framework and Gravitybox. But the next morning again, no luck to get a lock.
Yesterday I installed C6503_10.5.A.0.230_Commercial_and_Journalists.ftf, rooted , installed Xposed framework and Gravitybox. But the next morning again, no luck to get a lock. Even went in the service menu, and also no luck there with the GPS
Today a clean C6503_10.5.A.0.230_Commercial_and_Journalists.ftf, no root and kept all apps at the version coming with the rom (included Google Play Services, Google Maps). Same problem. I installed GPS Status and GPS test. And there I noticed a problem with the compass. it keeps rotating (YAW). Went in the service menu, and also there I have the compass going nuts.
Exactly like this one.
Did multiply calibrations, sometimes it works for a couple of minutes.
I don't know if it's hardware related or not. Tomorrow I try again stock 10.4.1.B.0.101 not rooted and bootloader locked. After that I'm finished with this phone, after IR blaster not learning codes, dead battery and black dots on the photos this would be the fourth problem on this phone...
Oké I think I found the cause of the problem ... FACEBOOK MESSENGER !
After a lot of trials and re-installs I discovered yesterday that the compass problem starts every-time I did use Facebook Messenger to send a message. Since by default my messages contains my location I thought it could be related. So turned of location in Facebook Messenger, restarted my Phone and since then the compass is no longer going nuts, and GPS is working fine again.
I have to specify that I'm using beta versions of Facebook Messenger. .

[Q] Problems with Google latest apps

Since the revised google apps for lollipop started arriving just over a month ago I've been having problems on my Nexus 7 (wifi only), especially with play newsstand and youtube over WIFI but also with lollipop itself. Newsstand will occasionally show headlines but will fail if I follow a link (problems connecting to network please retry). Youtube won't show anything further than the startup screens. Older versions of both newsstand and youtube work fine, but occasionally FC as does the latest google calendar. And when I tried installing lollipop I just could not get it to log into my google account (various errors, cannot connect to network, network is busy...). I've tried several OS variants including stock 4.4 and carried out several factory resets. My phone uses the same google account and works fine over WIFI (so I know my account is not corrupted), but I did notice that some apps didn't work properly until I'd used them for a bit over mobile data instead of wifi.
Does anyone else have similar problems? Ive seen lots of discussion about WIFI problems with lollipop, but not so much with the apps.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Google Maps and GPS Fix

I have a 2013 Nexus 7 LTE model with 5.1.1
Two questions:
1. On google maps how do you know if it has a GPS fix?
2. I've downloaded a local area on google maps for offline viewing, but without data when i tried to see if the map will follow me, the gps was just not following me. Randomly it will hop places but wasnt following me. For Google Maps GPS to work, do I need data itself? I thought the GPS is provided by the GPS and maps was just data which i downloaded for offline viewing.

I never used Google Maps (but Navigator). If application hops, it seems, that location is calculated via WiFi and GPS does not run properly.
To understand, whether GPS is running properly, install "GPS NMEA" from playstore (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ppillai.gpsnmea). In "NMEA Raw Data" you will get information about the data provided by GPS-controller. How to read NMEA-string, ask Wikipedia.

Issues with GPS

Is anyone else having issues getting a GPS lock on the fire phone? I recently was gifted one after the fire sale and I have been having issues ever since. When it actually works, the GPS has significant drift, and it often has trouble catching up with me when I am walking around. It also takes forever to acquire a GPS lock, if it can at all. I have waited 10 minutes, inside an open park with no trees within 50 meters of me for a lock with no luck. I can't even get a lock inside my own home after trying to acquire a GPS lock for well over a half hour. Sometimes it acquires a lock after 5 minutes, most of the time it doesn't--draining my battery significantly in the process
This has been happening with Ingress, Google Maps, Chrome, the Silk Browser, the built in Maps app, and Waze, so I doubt it is an issue with a specific app not being compatible with the FireOS. I am running stock, unrooted FireOS 4.6.4 with Google services framework, Google play store, Google play services, as well as the Google account manager installed (I need it for Maps, hangouts, and ingress). I am also wondering if the Google Play services apps are somehow interfering with GPS services, but I am very reluctant to uninstall them as I would have to reinstall the delicate setup of old Google apps that allow vital apps like Hangouts, Google Account manager, and Ingress to function in at least a usable state. However, it is with noting that I have tried to see if uninstalling Google Maps would help to no effect.
Does anyone experience issues like this? Is this a common issue? If not, does anyone have any advice on how to resolve the issue? Because if not, I am probably just going to buy a new phone.
GPS works fine on mine with stock 4.6.3 (rooted), try a GPS tester (GPS Test is one) and see if it gets an accurate lock.
GPS disconnects for like 30 second every 2 minutes on mine. 4.6.3 rooted. No Google services. It was previously on AT&T 4.6.4.
Happens on the stock Maps app, Waze, and SatStat.
EDIT:
I tried flashing 4.6.5 and leaving it unrooted. Re-enabled almost all the Amazon apps and its still giving me issues. Maps just says "Searching for GPS..." all the time while trying to navigate to an address. I think this might be hardware issue. Trying to troubleshoot with Mayday.
UPDATE:
In case anyone lands here looking for answers...
After a couple weeks of dealing with Amazon's tech support, they decided to give me a new phone. The new phone's GPS works as expected! It's an AT&T model on 4.6.5 not rooted.

GPS problems

Anyone having gps problems? When Google maps does eventually lock on a position is seems to be miles away from where I am, it takes Google maps a good 5 minutes to actually figure out a route.
Currently on China rom 10.4.11
Works fine here. Did you give all permissions in app settings. Settings>Apps>permissions >accept all
I'm also having the same problem at the moment. But in my case gmaps doesn't even detect my position at all. Also on china rom 10.4.11.
I've enabled all permissions, change gmaps to no restrictions on battery setting, still doesn't work.
Funny thing is, waze detect my location just fine.
Any suggestions to fix this issue?
What do GPS Status apps show that you can download from Play Store (you only need free, ad-less apps). You could compare the GPS signal of this phone to other phones you have around.
I´m using a REDMI NOTE 8 PRO for 4 weeks. I´m having trouble navigation with the GPS. I tested it with Gmaps and Waze. In both, there are changes in the route without any change in the route traveled. I´ve already checked all the settings (Battery saver, precision location on Gmaps...) without sucess. Aparently the accuracy is low.
What worked for me was uninstalling maps updates, clearing maps cache. Than install gps status from Google play and from the drop down menu select manage agps and reset it . Hope it helps.
