Latest Google Hangouts doesn't wake/open on new messages - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6

For some reason, the latest Hangouts, or at least the phone, now, with Hangouts... doesn't wake on new messages unless Hangouts is open. I don't even get notified as to new messages until I open it.
I have tried degreenifying, etc. It's not mentioned under power save.
I have PI3.
Any thoughts?

Go to Settings -> Notifications -> Advanced. Select Hangouts from the list of Apps. tick "Set as priority." That should get you notifications.

I actually did that earlier. Still trying to determine if that fixes it. Thanks

[Q] Gmail stopped sync-ing

Well folks it seems i have a problem... my gmail suddenly stopped syncing and it's driving me batty!
I've tried quite a few things to fix the issue to no avail It also refuses to send out emails which is pretty inconvenient and highly annoying.
I'm using the gmail app and not the stock email. Custom ROM (WildChild Sense).
Tried to change the settings, ad another email, turn off and on functions, no luck...
Any ideas would be appreciated!
ETA: Oh yeah, i've tried over the T-mo network AND Wifi, neither way does it work... other stuff (text, etc) are working fine.
-goto settings,
-then applications
-Then all applications
-Look for gmail and click it, then clear data
-click back and look for 'google services framework' click it, then clear data
-restart your phone and wait for everything to load up then open gmail and wait for it to sync and all should now work fine.
Note: after restarting phone you may get a message asking to accept google location service, click yes/accept
Sweet! Thank you, it seem to be working fine now... :victory:

Messaging notifications

I've been using Go SMS Pro for a while along with Tablet Talk. Recently, I've been having some Weird Stuff happening. Go SMS will often have a notification that "Sticks" even after I've read a message, making me have to hit clear. Message syncing has also been a bit quirky lately.
So I've uninstalled Go SMS Pro after backing up the settings to the internal memory/sdcard. But when I go into Messaging and re-enable notifications, it does not allow me to set the corresponding ringtone/vibrate settings anymore. I have tried clearing data on the messaging app with no success. I'm running the current stock T-Mobile ICS firmware with root.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

How to delete frequent contacts?

When composing a new SMS, I am greeted with frequent contact suggestions. For example, if I start typing a number, it will pop up and recommend numbers that match (some saved contacts, some frequent contacts that are not saved entries). I want to delete these frequent suggestions. So far, I've tried the following:
1. Clearing call history via the phone dialer
2. Clearing the Dialer app under settings>apps
3. Clearing the Contacts app under settings>apps
4. Clearing the People app under settings>apps
5. Setting the Frequent "smart group" which shows as 0 entries to only retain 1 (that is the minimum) by long pressing and going to "edit smart group"
6. Checking my Google contacts online to make sure it is not listed in the Most Contacted or Other contacts categories
7. Changing the messaging app setting under settings>general by unchecking "include sent message history in recipient search" as well as call history, etc.
Nothing has worked. It keeps numbers logged somewhere that I haven't even contacted in months. Anyone have any ideas short of a factory reset? Thanks!!
Download from play store frequently called remover it's a paid app

[SOLVED]hangouts not receiving messages

So I recently upgraded to CM11 M6 and I've noticed an odd problem. When people message me on hangouts if the app isn't open, I don't get a notification on the phone at all. Then when I open the app I have to scroll through the ENTIRE conversation I've had message by message and it does the animation for each message. This means if I've been talking to somebody for an hour or so I have to scroll for like 5 minutes on my phone to get to the latest message. Anyone have any similar issues or know of a fix? This is only a problem for chat type messages, SMS comes in no problem
What I've tried:
Uninstalling updates from hangouts and google play services then reinstalling hangouts
Removing google account and readding it
EDIT: I think i've found the fix.
remove all phone entries from https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions
Removed the google account from my phone.
reboot
readd google account to phone
SUCCESS!

Problems after the hangouts update

So I updated hangouts yesterday and now I can't send mms using any texting app. I never used google voice so I didn't merge anything. After I noticed all my group messages and pictures weren't sending I tried using evolve, smitten and textra. All have had the same issue. I uninstalled the updates and used an older version, same issue.
What can I do? I'm on Verizon and using CM 11 nightlies. I'm about to wipe and clean install the M9 snapshot and try that.
The 4.4.4 update is the cause; Hangouts have problems to many devices.
It seems that the notifications ringtones are not installed properly.
What I've found on some forums and working for me:
1. Move all hangouts ogg giles from sdcard(emulated)/ ringtones to system/media/audio/ringtones
In order to do this you have to go to twrp , mount system and use file manager inside twrp
2. You have to do a small synchronization too.
Go to Settings --> Sounds --> Volume --> Volumes --> Uncheck "Link ringtone and notification volumes".
Then an additional choice appears for the Notifications.
After that I started to get the sounds when notifications arrived. I rechecked the "Link ringtone and notifications" and the volume still worked.
Seems like something that needed to be initialized once.
After this the hangouts notifications appears and play sound too.
