Spigen Liquid Crystal - LG V20 Accessories

Writing this review for those who will order their Cases online. I got 2 spigens the other day. But i didnt have my V20 yet. Just got that today. I just went with it since ive always used Spigen cases and have always had faith
Spigen Rugged Armor, i have no complaints. Its what i have on now. I plan to use this as my daily case
Spigen Liquid Crystal, this sadly was a disappointment. Everything is almost okay. Got a good lip on the front. Fits well. Buttons were no problem. The only problem i have is the camera hole. It seems that the case is the same level as the camera lense. If ever its recessed i cant see it. At most maybe 1mm recessed but that might not be enough for an uneven table. With all the "scare" of the camera lense cracking easy, i dont think ill be risking it. Sucks because i wanted to use that case for night outs when i want to show off the phone design.
But the rugged armor has a good enough recess

I also have the liquid crystal and it's a great case however the camera is a bit too close to the surface. My problem with the rugged armor is that it's a glorified jelly/silicone case which offers no bend protection. To be honest the glass cracking on the camera isn't a widespread issue. I honestly think the people who damaged it abused it to begin with. I usually take care of my gadgets diligently.

I bought the liquid crystal case through Amazon and I'm glad I did because I returned it a couple days later at no cost to me. The case discolored to a light yellow/brownish tint after a day or two and my biggest gripe was the 2mm gap between the phone and case around the power button & camera cutout. So I had to press the case down a bit to reach the power button which was a pain when trying to fingerprint unlock. I got my refund I'm just surprised by the poor quality. Definitely a rush job by Spigen.

I'm wondering if the camera cutout had to do with the wide angle lens. Maybe if it was deeper it would interfere with the pictures. Just throwing that our there. I've never had a problem with Spigen before, but as someone said it could be a rush job. I think LG rushed the device and the sheer volume is more than anticipated because of the note 7 debacle.

Odd because the one I got is tight and I don't have the same issues you do. Maybe the one you ordered was a fake?
Sent from my LG-H990 using Tapatalk

I ordered the Liquid Crystal case and ended up returning it back to Amazon due to the discoloration of the case.
It appeared to have a slight yellowish tint instead of being "clear" as Spigen claims.
I did not have any issues with fit...all cutouts were exactly correct.
I ended up purchasing the Ringke Fusion, but with smoked black bumpers...a much better choice regarding the protection it provides and still maintaining a minimal design to the LG V20.

I have the Liquid Crystal and don't have complaints other than the single color option. I wanted something with minimal bulk and this is it. It also provides just enough grip that I don't feel uncomfortable using my phone.

What glass (front) or protective folie do you use with Spigen liquid crystal .................. i cant find any compatible?

ACase or Spigen Neo Hybrid (Yellow) or Urban Armor Gear (Aero/Blue)

Hello Everyone I been reading a lot of forums on cases and right now I can't decide on the Spigen, ACase, or the UAG cases. I am looking for a case that protects decently, doesn't add so much bulk, good button access for the home/side buttons. I am extremely careful with my phone and work a corporate job, meaning I don't foresee it needing to be all out tough.
So what you do?
Thanks in Advance
Hi, I was in the same position you were, and wanted a case with not too much bulk, but good protection (just in case by some awful chance I DO drop my phone).
So I went with the Acase Superleggera Pro.
I personally love it. It adds a certain amount of bulk I feel the phone needed, the silicon does not attract dust in my pocket, the polycarbonate back doesn't show smudges or fingerprints much, and the buttons require no extra force to push either.
I have a Zagg Invisible Shield HD on the screen, but am considering removing it because I never scratch my screen (my Droid X STILL doesn't have a scratch on it after two years) and the lip from the case that goes around the phone, PREVENTS the screen from touching the surface when layed face down.
The cut outs for all the ports are perfect, and look great as well. Overall, I suggest the case if these features appeal to you.
However, I'm also buying a Spigen Neo Hybrid to see what all the fuss is about
Thanks for the reply and the info, I am just like you as I really take care of my device. But I just read the review on the ACase the paint is rubbing off? Have you had that happen to you yet?

I can't speak for two of the cases you mentioned, but I do have a black UAG case and I really like it. It's actually thinner than I thought it would be and is unique looking, if you like the look of it.
The screen protector it came with is pretty crap and not full coverage. I'm using a Zagg and so far (fingers crossed) it hasn't caused it to bubble up anyplace beyond the few spots I screwed up myself removing my metal bumper case I had picked up when I first got the phone.
How is the Button Issue that you have to hard press on the UAG case?

A little firm to push but nothing to worry about, on mine at least. I have a TPU case that is way harder to push. I saw somewhere (maybe this site) that someone cut one of the long sides of the power button and said it worked great after that. I never had to so YMMV
I had the spigen neo hybrid and sent it back the day after receiving it. I had the same button problem as everyone else although in fairness I don't think I had the revised edition.
I have had my Acase superlegerra pro now for about 5 days and I love it! plenty of grip and not too much bulk. buttons press perfectly and cutouts line up exactly.
I can't comment on the paint coming off issue as I haven't had it for long enough yet.
I am going to send my Spigen Neo back I got last week, buttons are bad on it, must be the non revised version. Seller has no clue and says its the latest stock they have.

Least obtrusive way to protect your phone/Poetic Bumper

Can anyone recommend the thinnest case/screen protector etc that will protect the phone incase it were to drop. All the one's I've seen still take away so much from the look of the phone, and make it look thicker. All of my previous phones including my current galaxy nexus have always been naked. The gnex has dropped on concrete and been fine, however the n5 doesn't look like it can take a fall at all.
I've stumbled across the Poetic Bordering Bumper. This looks like it's very thin. Has anyone had any experience with them before, I have no idea if this would protect a fall?
http://www.poeticcases.com/borderline-bumper
Thanks
Sympathy bump
The Poetic bumper doesn't clear the camera on the back. So laying the phone on it's back could potentially scratch the glass there. I wouldn't recommend it.
I've tried the Spigen Slim Armor, the Diztronic Nexus 5 case, and the official Nexus 5 case. Of the three the Diztronic is the easily the most svelte and closest to the shape of the original phone. I do like the official case... but no doubt it's way overpriced and it does add substantial girth to the sides of the phone. I returned the Slim Armor. It's not slim and it was flawed. At $10 on Amazon the Diztronic case is easy to recommend.
Never saw the point of worrying about the camera lens on the back. Does it stick out a little bit on this phone? Sure.
I've never used a case on a smartphone and any of the phones I've had in the last 4 years the screens looked perfect after keeping them in my pocket when I wasn't using them. Things that are hard (gorilla glass is relatively hard) are really difficult to scratch. (Being brittle, ie: shattering is another story)
Your keys won't scratch them, (the glass is harder) neither will coins, and the like. The main common material that can scratch the glass is sand. (quartz is significantly harder than the screen)
So yeah, if you live in California or Hawaii or something...you might want a FULL cover...otherwise personally it's not something you should really worry about. You spend all this money on a nice phone, with a nice feel to it...ENJOY it.
(And no, I have no idea if the glass on the camera lens is the same as on the face...personally it wouldn't surprise me if it was even harder...since ya know, it's smaller (harder but more brittle materials can be easily strengthened by being thicker) and doesn't require a touch interface)
My combo is Rhino Shield (protect from direct impact to the screen) + dbrand frame skin (protect from dents).
Also, the phone seems to be quite durable if the point of impact is on the sides, according to Android Authority's drop test.
I'll try this just for 5$ http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Goog...PC-Combo-Cases-For-LG-Nexus-5/1504212977.html
I'm very happy with this case, Ringke Slim. I tried a few others and they were either too bulky or hurt my ear. I can also still use the nexus wireless charger.
The diztronic case adds very little in size and even has a soft touch very similar to the nexus 5
The little black magnetic ring around the camera acts as a bit of a lip. I still think they should have made the camera like the n7. Love the poetic bumpers BTW

The Diztronic case looks chunkier than the rinkge slim to me. Am I being blind?
Ghost and Jeff - You both have the bumper right? Is it true what I've read about the buttons being rubbish?

Yes the buttons are wack. The volume isn't as bad as the power button but they still both have very little feedback. They work well though but I'm hoping that poetic will fix the bad feedback on the buttons.

Recommendations for a Slim, Soft-Touch TPU Case?

I'm a new Axon 7 owner and am currently searching for a case to use on this phone. The stock transparent case that comes with the phone is great but due to the fact it's a glossy plastic, it attracts a lot of grease from my fingers and feels dirty after a while. I also dislike it because the sweat from my hands will form into condensation on the back of the case. I also have a problem where the jack on my headphones (Audio Technica ATH-M50) is too large to fit in the hole provided.
I decided to purchase the Spigen 'Rugged Armor' case from Amazon after reading a lot of positive comments about it, but I have been left disappointed and debating whether to return it due to the sheer size and thickness that makes handling the phone (Which is already large enough!) incredibly difficult with small hands. The case does not add much friction despite the material used having a rubber-like appearance, and I actually feel more likely to drop the phone as a result of trying to fumble with the added size. As well as this, the cut-out for the headphone jack is still too small even though it's larger than the wider than the one seen on the stock case. I also find it a lot more difficult to access the fingerprint scanner due to the thickness of the case surrounding it. Another problem is that the case is quite difficult to put onto the phone and a lot harder to remove, to the point where it feels like i'm actually going to damage the phone by attempting to do this!
For my previous phone, a Lenovo ZUK Z2, I had a fantastic Nillkin 'Frosted Shield' shell case that was made from a soft-touch rubber-like plastic. It was very slim at about 2mm in thickness at most, and although it didn't offer much in the way of drop-protection, it did have a nice textured back and that increased the grip tremendously. So, despite the case not being able to protect the phone quite as much from being dropped, it didn't matter because the chances of dropping the phone in the first place were a lot less likely. I wondered whether there was something similar for the Axon 7, but instead in a TPU-style with the sealed corners, and the same thickness as the stock case that's included with the phone? Any recommendations would be most appreciated.
This one is the best one, hands down: https://www.amazon.de/ARTILVST-umgebene-Struktur-Oberfl%C3%A4che-Protector/dp/B01MTLLSPA/ref=sr_1_fkmr2_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1505381744&sr=8-2-fkmr2&keywords=axon+7+slim+case+sand

That looks nice, it's kinda like the old Sandstone Black finish on the OnePlus One. There was one similar to this on Amazon UK but I don't think it had the same texture to it. My only compliant with that one is that it isn't a TPU case which completely covers the corners, but on the other hand the sand texture probably adds a lot of grip to reduce the risk of it being dropped.
I'm currently looking into getting the J&D case from their official website. It's in TPU-form which covers the entire phone (Except from the power/volume buttons!) and has the textured soft-touch back I wanted. The only problem with this one is that the glossy plastic edges look a bit tacky in the pictures, but hopefully it's not as bad in person as it looks on the website. I have a discount code which knocks a subtle 15% off the price listed, so it might be worth a shot.
Looking into this now myself. The stock clear case will go yellow as they all do. Getting cheap see through black case as a temporary till I find a good one. I find the clear one a tad loose at the side.

Thanks. I'm mostly interested in the grip. I had a similar case from Amazon. fr but it was in fact quite slippery (it had a satin feel to it). Had to send it back.
The stock case that came with the Axon 7 is quite grippy but it is slowly going yellow.

Hey, have you received the case yet? Just wondering what you thought to it. If either you or @Sui77 could post a picture of it, that would be great as well. I'm still debating whether to choose this or the J&D TPU case that completely conceals the corners. I can't stand using the case which came with the phone much longer, as it's made from glossy plastic and attracts a lot of filth and grease. I imagine the ARTILVST case would be a lot better in this regard.

Yes I did. Or is ok, but not as grippy as I was hoping for. The original case provides more grip.

Thanks for posting those pictures! That's a shame to hear the grip wasn't as good as expected. I wanted something which provided more grip than the stock case, so maybe this isn't the right one for me. I also live in the United Kingdom and having the case shipped from Germany would make it more expensive in postage costs. It does look like a nice case but I am worried it might not offer much protection if the phone is dropped. I think the J&D case would perhaps be better because it has a soft-touch back and conceals all the corners properly.
I have that same Spigen case as above, an Incipio TPU case in smoked brown, and another thin "shell case". This thin shell offers zero protection in case it is dropped, making using one pointless , IMO.
The Incipio case is OK, but again thin and will show wear very quickly. The Spigen one is my favorite hands down, doesn't add bulk to the phone all ports easily accessable, and the edges offer good grip.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and opinions regarding the cases available for the Axon 7. It's interesting to hear how you found the Spigen case not to be bulky, because I found the opposite and returned it for that exact reason. I eventually purchased one of the cheap, plastic shell cases from AliExpress similar to the that in the pictures Joaste posted above.
My overall opinion on this case has been positive but it has worn on the edges and there are cracks down all four corners. As you mentioned, a shell case does not offer much drop protection but it's definitely better than not having a case at all and it does improve the grip quite notably. However, I wish it had a textured or 'Sandstone' back to help avoid grease buildup.
I am now looking for another case, but options in the UK are limited since the Axon 7 is not officially sold here.
I've been using my TPU smoke black case with a glass screen protector for a while and enjoyed that. I got fed up with the Poetic Revolution case because of the dry protector built into the front. It allowed dust and stuff in between the screen and protector. Tonight I stripped out the dry protector and put the case on with the glass protector still on the screen. Fits nice. I have a full coverage protector to fit and might see if it will work with the Poetic. Might need to trim the inner edges of the corners near the speaker grilles.
I've been using this Proworx case since right after I got my Axon 7, so for a bit over a year now. I wasn't super impressed when I got it so I figured I'd replace it as soon as I found something better or it wore out, but I'm still using it, which says something about it.
It isn't the slimmest, for sure, but it isn't as bulky as the Otter Boxes and whatnot that everyone with a non-cracked iphone seems to have. It protects very well - TPU around the edges, fully covering the corners (which is a must, in my eyes), polycarbonate back, enough of a lip on top to protect the screen if you set it down face-down, and the cut-outs and buttons are perfect. Good drop protection - I've "thrown" it onto asphalt, tile, and concrete without the phone getting a scratch. Also works well with the glass screen protectors we covered in another thread. Easy enough to put on and take off too, with no chance of the phone just falling out.
Again, not the thinnest, but not huge, and the protection is excellent. Plus they're cheap and come in multiple colors. And as is typical with cheap stuff manufactured in China, I've seen this same case under at least a couple of other brand names, CoverOn for one. For $5-$6 I recommend trying it - I like it enough that I pretty much never think about replacing it, even though it (a clear one) has yellowed a tad. After trying like 10 cases for my G3 and finding faults with each of them, I can say I like this one enough that I'll probably replace it with the same one, eventually.

I decided to order one of these in black to try out. Have been quite happy with my Spigen, but after installing this Proworx case yesterday, I think I am falling in love. Seems to offer enough protection, fits & looks nice, AND I kind of like how the buttons are a bit harder to push in, which actually prevents me from squeezing open the screen every time I try to pick it up. :good:

Quoting myself here.
Today I fitted the full coverage protector to my Axon 7 and it fits into the Poetic Revolution case nicely! Glad I stripped out the dry protectors in the Poetic cases. I've also now fitted a plastic protector over the glass one as a quick and easy tear off to sacrifice for wear and tear but the glass one makes the front of the phone flat. Even with two stacked protectors, touch works perfectly.
The picture is slightly misleading as the black section also covers the capacitive buttons so there's no indicator of position, but not being backlit anyway, it makes little difference.
Here's a quicky bunch of pics. I have a soft TPU smoky case, black Poetic Revolution and a blue/grey Poetic Revolution which can be mix and matched. Got a couple of little bubbles under the plastic protector and will fix that later, or just remove it. Looks good with just the full coverage glass one.
If anyone is looking for a slim case I just picked up a Bear Motion Sand from eBay. Best case I've had so far for my A7 and I've tried quite a few. Feels like my OPO did.

Been using this one for over 6 months now with out any issues , not as bulky as it looks and the stand is useful . I also have a full body clear skin from clear-coat that fits superbly, clear-coat has various outlets through the UK and installs as you wait , is a bit pricey at £30 for the full skin .
I work in the building trade so need it well protected .

MNML Case - No Camera Bump Protection

So my MNML case got shipped today, but I just seen a post on reddit about the case not covering the camera bump on the Pixel 2 XL.

I can't guarantee that the pics are of the final product, but I thought I'd give a heads up to anyone else that has ordered the case.
The product discription says:
PERFECT CUTOUTS - The case fits your Pixel 2 XL like a glove, exposed buttons and ports are perfectly cut giving you full easy access. The camera cutout has a raised bump to protect your camera on surfaces. The front of the case has a raised rim to protect your phone’s screen from scratching.

I've emailed MNML for confirmation.
Will be disappointed if it doesn't have a raised bump on the case. I will be returning it myself.

This is the only reason why i did not order mnml this time. Loved it on my pixel xl. if i want to set my phone done on a metal surface or stone then i am worried that the camera could crack or that the housing around it would scratch.... Still searching for a thin black case that isnt flimsy like TPU. One like this or one that is maybe made similar to the original Nexus case for the 6P. That wasnt very thin , but it was made from a more sturdy and rigid rubber. Also FYI, the peel case and the mnml case are the exact same case. I went through this last year on the Pixel XL 1.
thanks for this.... Had it in my Amazon cart waiting for reviews of it. Gonna hold off and wait to see what Diztronic brings

"EDIT: Ok, so apparently the bump around the fingerprint sensor is large enough that the camera bump doesn't touch the surface. It's not ideal but at least it won't touch on flat surfaces."
Nope no raised bumped around the camera lens. Lens and case are almost flush. Just got mine. Pics attached. Buttons are a lil hard to get to. Case side panel is too flushed to the buttons, if that makes any sense. Also its pretty slippery compared to the actual back of the 2 XL.

It will do for now, for me until Peel ships there's and I can compare.
Well crap. I ordered 2 a long time ago and they just shipped as well. I'm not liking the pictures and what I'm seeing. Guess I'll just keep the case I have on it now
So MNML got back to me.
"When you place the case backside down the raised fingerprint sensor will protect the camera."
Pretty disappointed.
How does the case grip feel in hand? Less, equal, or more grippy than bare phone?

Pretty ****ty on their part to advertise one thing and then backtrack and say another.

By looking at the back, that's what I thought might be going on. Seems a little questionable though.
Except nobody holds the phone in a way that the bottom lands first!
People hold the phone by the middle or the bottom and often than not the top camera part lands on the surface first. But that's not the issue here, the issue is that you shouldn't have to be concerned with how your phone lands after putting on a case!
A truly bold move by them when the market is flooded with $2 cases from AliExpress without this issue. Most people will opt for a little thicker case from Spigen or whoever to protect the best aspect of pixel phones - the camera.
Fix your ****.
My biggest issue was that the mnml case caused significant scratching on the base of my pixel XL first gen. It made little specks through the black and was showing silver. I think it is because the case want tight like a traditional tpu case that stretches. I'm currently using one of the China cases. I needed something to hold me over until I can find a thin case that works.

I've had the MNML case on my xl for 6 months with no issues of scratching at all. As far as the xl2's MNML case and lack of hump around camera; I'm ok with the hump being around the fp sensor. Interesting as to why they didn't choose to"hump" the camera tho.. possibly aesthetics and feel?
Got mine in yesterday. I'll be returning them. While they are thin and sleek it doesn't protect anything and as prior mention. It doesn't have a protection around the camera.
I love the thinness of this case, hate that there isn't a completely clear option. Has anyone found something like this? Ultra thin case (not raised on the front bezel) that's completely clear?
I've been using this case since Saturday and, while I love the minimal feel, I don't think I'll be using it long term. The button cutouts are precise, which would normally be a good thing. However, in this case the case is slightly thicker than the buttons protrude from the phone so they actually become recessed. The precise cutout makes it even harder then to discern which buttons you're feeling and pressing, at least for me, requires using my fingernail. Totally kills it for me.
I reached out to Peel and they said there case will have protection for the camera.

While I did just get it tonight, I'm in the other camp.... I actually love it. It's exactly what I want, a skin with no edges to deal with.
I know all of the complaints when I ordered it, so I guess I knew I would like it.
I pre-ordered 2 of these cases weeks ago, just got them last night. They actually sent me 4 total for some reason, so I have 2 clear and 2 really blue. I'll post some pics in a bit. The fps bump does keep the camera from touching what the phone is sitting on though. This case offers no protection other than scratches, I already knew this though. This will be my weeknight weekend case. The buttons are totally flush with this case so it's hard to tell what your pushing, just FYI.

Spigen Tough Armor + GPEL Screen Protector = NO

We have 2 G7's, I put GPEL screen protectors on both. I have a generic (cheap) 'rugged armor' ripoff case, my wife bought the genuine Speigen Slim Armor. The protectors were properly applied and we waited 24hrs before putting the phones in their respected cases. The Slim Armor case eventually lifts about 20% of the screen protector off the phone. Unfortunately, my wife didn't inform me till the adhesive semi-dried and she will likely have permanent bubbles, thanks a lot Speigen. I was able to fix the issue by using a moto-tool to sand off a little of the top edge where it scrapes the screen, something it doesn't do anywhere else. YMMV. Funny that my cheap case fits better than the much more expensive name brand, proving you don't always get what you pay for. Also, for those still considering the Slim Armor? It also reduces the boombox effect which my $5 rugged armor 'tribute' case does not. But you do get a kickstand
I don't use a screen protector but I don't see how it messes with the boombox feel. I use the same case and don't have that sound issue

Another case of sarcasm not translating over the net? The case doesn't cause a huge issue, but if you place the phone on a surface with and without the case, there is a difference. It's slight and for most, inconsequential. But it's there. That the case damaged my wifes' screen protector is more of a concern.
I personally bought the Tough Armor from Spigen and here in the Italian Amazon it costs 8.99 euros which was sometimes less than other low quality ones.
I've been using it for a few days and obviously I've noticed that the boom box effect is a little bit less powerful but it's something that I can happily trade off in exchange for a more protected phone.
The cover fits perfectly and the build quality feels really top notch.
I've also tried the wireless charging and it works like a charm.
Just saying my experience since this is still a relatively new forum and maybe our posts can help someone else decide whether to buy it or not.
