LG G3 Stuck at Factory Reset Status 2 - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was trying to downgrade my G3 to the original stock firmware (for rooting) following this guide: (androidexplained.com/downgrade-lg-g3/), and my phone became stuck at stage 2 and will not proceed. I've tried every solution I could find to fix the problem, but nothing has worked. For some reason it appears that the phone is not reconnecting to the serial port anymore, so the LG flash tool can't connect. I can't get the phone into download mode to start again, and I can't get the process to resume from where it is at. I was able to re-enable the recovery menu using the JTAG shorting trick, but I can't find any compatible firmware images to flash through ADB. If anyone knows how to fix this, or knows where I can find a ZV4 update zip, then I would greatly appreciate it!

I have the LS990 (Sprint).
When I was stuck in Factory Reset Status 2, I was not able to boot into recovery mode or download mode, but I was able to use this tutorial: (reddit.com/r/LGG3/comments/41wbo3/how_to_unhardbrick_your_lg_g3_jtag/) to renable recovery mode. However, I still cannot access download mode, or else I would use the LG Flash Tool.
I have tried to sideload several roms via adb. Most of them say "E:footer verification failed. E: signature verification failed." All of those were zip files with a single .tot inside. I found one zip that was different (it had a bunch of system images inside). The error I got when trying to sideload that zip was:
"Package expects build fingerprint of lge/g3_spr_us/g3:4.4.2/KVT49L.LS990ZV6/LS990ZV6.1415360315:user/release-keys or lge/g3_spr_us/g3:5.0.1/LRX21Y/150221743942c:user/release-keys; this device has lge/g3_spr_us/g3:4.4.2/KVT49L.LS990ZV4/LS990ZV4.1403169216:
E:Error in /tmp/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted".
I think this means I found a zip with the right contents inside, but it's the wrong update. If someone knows where to find the correct zip to sideload I believe that would fix the problem. I found this zip here: (twitter.com/utoprime/status/569984569195282432)
Regarding the JTAG exploit I used to get recovery mode back, most tutorials say I should also have download mode back, but I don't. If I were somehow able to get download mode back, then I could use the LG Flash Tool to fix it.

[Q] Need help with my E-988

I hope someone can help me.
I bought an LG Pro E-988 which is already rooted and have a nightly CM11 installed.
I saw the LG Flex Rom and tried to install. I hit an error (Status 7), so I restored my back up. It booted correctly and decided to install/run the LG Recovery and Freegee apps as I suspected that the error (Status 7) was because I didn't install the apps before the LG Flex ROM.
After I run FreeGee, I restarted in recovery and tried to install the ROM but still same error (Status 7). So I decided to restore my back up again, but this time around, the boot is not pushing through. I'm stuck in the LG Logo.
Has anyone experienced this before and maybe you can help me to fix my phone.
I admit I got a bit excited rooting and flashing custom ROMs again after 1 year of hiatus.
Thanks in advance!!

Nothing to worry about. Here is a pinned post where you can find all the information you need.
Just download your kdz from here and follow the steps from this post
Download kdz, install lg flashtool, lg drivers, after turning off your phone, press volume up and down together and connect your usb cable to get into download mode, then follow those pictures in that post to flash the kdz. You will be back to stock.

Thanks a lot man :good:! Although, I'm stuck with 'Connection error' in the FlashTool. Is this normal? I tried again and again more than 20 times but I'm getting the same connection error.
Also, earlier I was still able to go to recovery, but now even if I press the power button it goes straight to the download mode.
Hope you can help again.
You cant get out of download mode? did you try volume down and power button together for 5 secs? And btw what error are u getting on flash tool? its not detecting your phone? Did you install the mobile drivers?

The error was in the LG Mobile Support Tool (sorry to in the Flash tool). During the upgrading of the phone it always give the error - 'Connection to server failed. Try again in a moment'
Also, if I try to turn on the phone it will not boot but go straight to download mode.

Did you remove the battery and put it back in? And it still goes to download mode? Try starting the phone pressing Volumedown+power key for sometime or you could try Volumeup+Homekey+Power to boot into recovery and try restoring backup or flashing some other rom and see if you can get out of boot. I really don't know why you are getting that connection problem. I got stuck at boot a couple of times and followed exactly what was given in that post and reverted back to stock. I guess some of the senior members will help you here. Meanwhile ill see if i can search a solution for that connection error, i haven't faced that yet so i really don't know the fix. There is a second TOT method given in that post, that might help.

Yup, i tried removing the battery. Also tried different key combos to boot but it all goes to the download mode, with the small with box in the middle.
I also tried the option of going straight to the LG mobile support tool (not the LG Flash tool). But the same server connectiom error.
Thanks again for the help.
Hope other members can help me too.
Since I'm not able to do recovery using the KDZ file. Can I use the TOT file?
I have E988 Singapore version, but the last ROM installed was with a CM11. And in the Phone details it shows E980.
Will it work or will it just make things worst?

I haven't flashed using TOT method so i cant comment on that. I heard few people had trouble using flashtool on windows 8, are u you using windows 8? maybe try the kdz method again from a windows 7.

[Q] LG Optimus G Soft-Bricked? Please help me to recover my phone

Hey Guys,
First post and i already got a problem because i messed up very much
I used to have Cyanogenmod 11 on my Optimus G, but i got several crashes and i wasnt completely fine with it so i wanted to try something new. So i updated my bootloader from CWM to TWRP and wanted to flash Artmod 5.2 Rom. I was a bit fast with my wiping, so i accidentally wiped the whole phone, so that everything was gone: Cyanogenmod, new Artmod rom i wanted to flash just everything.
I read a bit and thought it shouldnt be a problem then to just sideload the new rom, which i tried to do. I used adb sideload to put Artmod on the phone, everything was fine, flashing went through but i got stuck at the LG boot logo at the start of the phone. I waited like 30 minutes and nothing did change, so i thought something was not right.
I then just wanted to go back to cyanogenmod, tried to flash that through the adb sideload procedure but i got an error which said "error executing updater binary in zip 'tmp/sideload.zip'".
I was kinda thinking something really messed up so i tried to revert the phone to stock rom with the correct KDZ file i searched with the tool linked in the FAQ, everything downloaded but when i tried to flash the KDZ it gave me an error like this:
"12:03:59 Launching SW update
12:03:59 Unpacking KDZ
12:05:10 KDZ file extracted
12:05:11 Extract file error
12:05:13
===FINISH===="
So i searched the forums again and noticed that it should be a problem with the KDZ updater tool because the KDZ file was too big to get flashed properly. I wanted to try the LG Flash Tool 2014 then which is provided here in the forums and should work, it extracted the KDZ file, then opened the LG Mobile Support Tool to flash the file on the phone but there i start to get errors again, it either said that i am already on the correct up to date software version or that i need to disconnect the USB cable, remove the battery, insert it again, restart and try again.
I used several tools for that, i even tried it with an offline method that i found in a german forum, but every method got me the same errors, so i couldn't even go back to stock anymore.
I once tried to flash Cyanogenmod then again when i realized that the error message also told me "This Rom is for a "E975", this is a "GEE"" which i did not completely understand because it should be the total same? I edited the Updater-Script in the Zip file of the rom then and removed the part where it checks for that (1st line actually), then the rom did flash properly, phone started to boot (Cyanogenmod Boot Logo was shown) but when the boot was over i got the message:
"Type Password to Decrypt Storage" with a keyboard to enter the password. (I did never set up any password for that).
Now i am completely confused what i can do the recover my phone, either to stock or just to another rom, every method i tried did not work and i dont have any other ideas.
I can go into Fastboot, Recovery and Downloadmode, but when i tried to wipe again in Recovery it says that it cant mount my data mount point (probably because the storage is encrypted).
Somebody told me to do a hard reset with the keys "Volume down and power" which i tired several times, but everything i get is just the Google boot logo and then happens nothing or i get the Google logo, then the LG logo but after that i get stuck again, I cant seem to go into the "Hard Reset" menu which i should get into with that keys.
Anybody can help me what I could try or got a solution for this? I would be very thankful. I don't wanna loose my phone

Don't worry, that's pretty standard scenario for the first post...

Flash Tool 2014 works great for me every time, so try it again. Make sure you disconnect from the Internet before running it (yank out your LAN cable, or disable your WiFi), so it doesn't attempt to connect to LG servers. And don't forget to put your KDZ file in the same directory with the tool. It should go through just fine. That's by far the easiest method to revert back to stock, to get you to a clean starting point.

Umm... No, they are not the same. E975 is "geehrc", and there is no such OEM ID as "gee". There are many different OG variants. For the cross-reference between the models and OEM IDs, you can look here. Generally, you should stick to the ROMs that are designed for your model, unless you know exactly what you are doing, when trying to flash a ROM from a different platform.

Well i tried Flash Tool 2014 again and seem to get the same error that wants me to disconnects as it stops at the same position like it always did, also doesn't matter if I am connected to the internet or not, everytime it doesn't run through. This time I couldn't even read the stuff that was written in the LG Mobile Support tool because it only shows "????".
Heres a Screenshot:
The settings i made should be the right ones I think, the phone does get recognized by the computer when i plug it in because of the sound that windows makes.
I clearly dont't know what I can try anymore...
And according to the roms: well i only used roms for the E975, which is exactly my phone model, thats why i was wondering about that error message i got
Artmod is for E975, the CM11 was for E975, i even tried Mokee rom but i always got same error messages...
Nobody got another idea? I really am confused because if i can enter downloadmode and recovery there should be a way to get my phone back working.
Anybody knows where i can get maybe some older KDZ Files to go to 4.1.2 Stock rom and try to flash these?
problem

I don't know why you are seeing "???", but here is a couple of things regarding the settings, based on your screenshot:
1. Type should be CDMA (yours is 3GQCT).
2. PhoneMode should be DIAG (yours is CS_EMERGENCY).
3. I would suggest using CSE Flash for a full format (you are using Normal Flash).
Remember, this is a hacked tool, so the settings might not make perfect sense, comparing to the original ones. Just try following the instructions in the OP of the Flash Tool 2014 thread. Like I said, works every time for me...

Glad to hear you are back in business. After flashing KDZ, the root is definitely gone, your BL is locked, and the recovery is stock. You will need to do all the necessary steps again: root, unlock the BL and flash custom recovery.

Stuck in boot loop and can't get into fastboot mode to use adb, need help

I followed this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/unlock-bootloader-install-twrp-root-t3128241
Here's what I did:
Unlocked bootloader
Booted into TWRP (version 3.0) (didn't install, just booted into)
Flashed SuperSU
Rebooted into system
Now whenever I boot the device I'm stuck in a boot loop.
So I can't boot the device up or get into fastboot mode (what should fastboot mode look like? I got into download mode at some point), not sure what to do?

I had the same problem.
If you can get your phone in the download mode, than try this.
1: Install LGBridge,
2: Boot your phone in download mode & start LGBridge,
3: Than on Software Update tab, on the bottom right corner, you will see an option saying "Update Error Recovery"
4: Click on it and your phone will be flashed to latest firmware. Make sure you are connected to net as it will need to download it.
Once the update it complete, Your phone should reboot normally.
Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

Zenfone 2 failed update, can't flash stock firmware

I accidentally allowed the 2.20.40.183 OTA update, which rendered my phone useless. I tried putting MOFD_UPDATE of 2.20.40.174 on my SD card, but that didn't work.
Here's a few other things I tried:
Recovery menu: Updating phone, then dead droid. No menu appears.
adb sideload: adb didn't recognize my phone.
fastboot flash: Permission denied, or something along those lines. The write fails. Tried to flash system.img but it never did and nothing happened.
adb sideload through temporary CWM: Unauthorized device. Couldn't sideload.
Flashing through temporary CWM and temporary TWRP: Fails early on with Status 7. 2.20.40.174 is older, and this is apparently reason enough to deny me.
Does anyone have an idea about what I can do to fix this? Could I flash Cyanogenmod, then flash stock over that, using temporary CWM/TWRP?
My bootloader is not unlocked.

All necessary to read.
Hope you fix the problem.
Fixed
I managed to fix my phone, but not with the method Mr Gourav so kindly posted. I chose not to use mr_gourav2000's IntelSoC fix because the guide was written in a way that made it very hard to follow, and I was unsure if MOOREFIELD was supposed to flash briefly or stay on the Device Manager. Regardless, I wasn't going to risk bricking my phone beyond help by pushing on without knowing what i was doing.
The key was bypassing Status 7 (or 1), which prevents you from downgrading firmware. If your phone says something like "Installation failed with Status 1" or "Status 7," or you get the "Can't install this package over newer build" error when you attempt to flash a previous firmware, this fix can help you. Funny enough, the fix was posted by the very same person earlier this year:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65995574&postcount=116
First, download the latest full firmware from Asus' support site: https://www.asus.com/Phone/ZenFone_2_ZE551ML/HelpDesk_Download/
Then, open or extract the .zip file, and go to into UL-Z00A-WW-(Firmware.Version.Number)-user.zip\META-INF\com\google\android\ . Select updater-script (no file extension), and open it in a plain text editor like Notepad++.
Remove lines 1-6, beginning with "(!less_than_int" and ending with "getprop("ro.product.device") + "\".");". The result should look like this.
Then, insert the edited updater-script into the .zip file, overwriting the old updater-script. At this point, I should mention that one of the removed lines probably checked your phone's model number to see if it was compatible with the firmware. I sure hope you downloaded the right file for your phone. If not, brick city here you come.
Finally, put the edited .zip into a microSD card, and insert that into your phone. If you want to use the stock recovery to install the firmware, rename the .zip to MOFD-UPDATE.zip and put it in the root of the SD, then restart the phone and let it update. Presumably. I didn't use the stock recovery. I used the temporary ClockworkMod recovery to fix my phone, so I'm not sure if it's that simple. If you're using that temporary CWM, just go to the zip installation menu and apply the zip from external_sd.
If you were going through the same problems I was, your phone should boot into stock, unrooted firmware again. Pat yourself on the back and never do whatever dumb thing you did to get to this point in the first place (like absentmindedly apply an OTA update in the middle of a lecture)!
Once again, thanks to mr_gourav2000 for posting this fix earlier. I may not have understood the IntelSoC fix, but I did understand this one!

If it's the 1st boot it generally will as it is recreating cache, dalvik-cache or ART...
It seems to take forever to clear cache too when using recovery but about a heartbeat when using fastboot.... Just another quirk of the phone...
Thank you much
I gotta say, this got me on the right path. Though my issue was exactly the same the fix was a little different.
I had to use the next patch and that worked. Recovery is working now and I have to manually update, but still have root, so no real big deal.
Thanks again.

You need to flash boot, droidboot and recovery for the build you are using.
I use fastboot to do this but make sure developer settings are enabled and USB debugging is ticked before trying to flash.
To find the img files for the above mentioned, go to Shakalaka's pre-rooted rom thread in Android Developement, you don't need to download the rom if you don't want to but it sure makes rooting easy.
Find the version of Android you need and download boot, droidboot and recovery img files. Flash with fastboot using these commands -
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash fastboot droidboot.img
***Make sure the right commands are used or it may result in a brick...***

HELP! Fully wiped. Only Recovery mode is possible. Help me flash a stable ROM.

1. Tried LGNPST method but phone never showed up in the software
2. Tried flashing with LG official tool. That always resulted phone disconnected.[I did put my phone into download mode]
3.Tried almost all KDZ_FW_UPDATE methods they always stopped either in not responding-> close program OR extraction error
4. Tried sideloading using adb but they also resulted in "bad file" even push didn't work saying no permission to write(I think)
for adb I tried converted .zip of kdz using some guide in xda.
My phone is totally clean now. I can boot to Recovery or Download Mode. There's no file that's flashable right now. I'm in Philz touch recovery
This actually happened while I was flashing to unlock bootloader and charge went low.
I desperately want it to function properly. Please anyone with any new or updated methods, help me.
When normally trying to boot up, Google logo comes and phone switches off.
I was in F180L converted to E975.
I've INDIAN(20a) version kdz also european(10h) and korean(30e).
