Sim Unlock or Sim Relock to another carrier of choice - Note 7 Questions & Answers

I purchased a used Note 7 and it is locked to Bell Canada. I tried several unlocking services online to get an unlock code but all of them have been unsuccessful, they can't find an unlock code. Is there any other way to SIM unlock the 930W8 Note 7? Or is there a way to switch SIM lock from one carrier to another?
I haven't been able to use the phone because of this

Question: when did you purchase and why?

How is that going to help him? You just want to be able to upset him if he says he purchased it post-recall?
Anyways, to the OP: It may be a long shot, but try to factory reset it without a SIM card installed. Then Factory reset it again after that WITH your non-Bell SIM card installed. I know what everyone is thinking: "wtf?" BUT...
I am suggesting this because when I got my "replacement" Note 7 after the first recall, I kept the SIM in the first phone while I set up the second phone. I used Smart Switch and installed all the apps again. One thing I noticed is that it didn't have my carrier's bloatware on it at all. It was like a phone purchased directly from Samsung to be carrier-free. After that, I removed the SIM from the first phone and installed it in the second phone. As soon as the second phone registered the SIM, the phone shut itself off, and factory-reset itself! Once it came back up, the phone had been wiped, and suddenly had my carrier's apps on it.

Because it is a recalled device and has been banned and probably will be disabled entirely quite soon. Needs to find a substitute phone.
But thanks and good luck on the advice!

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately it did not work. I believe the phone locks to the first carrier upon SIM insertion. It is normal for the phone to factory reset when you insert the SIM as it needs to load carrier apps / settings. If you can think of anything else to try, let me know. I'm trying to be hopeful...

Lost Phone

This is a long shot but I misplaced my phone last Wednesday. I was traveling out of town from Thursday until yesterday (hence didn't realize how long I've lost it) and since this is my secondary phone (i.e. it doesn't have a sim card in it, I only use it when I travel out of the U.S. using local sims overseas). It doesn't have a SIM card in it and chances are the battery is dead as well.
I guess this one is a goner eh? Unless someone else has gotten a hold of it and is using it. In which case, can anyone here guide me of the possibility of installing any apps on it (remotely).
Just log int to Android Market with the google account you used on your phone. From there you can install applications remotely to your phone if it's on and no-one has done a factory reset on it.
Thanks Hawks, looks like the device is either off (more likely) or has been reformatted as it says "This app will be downloaded to your device shortly."

It doesn't have to be, it will say that even if everything is ok.
My only problem is that since the phone doesn't have a SIM card in it, don't know how I can text it to find it.
I don't suppose you activated the htcsense.com account with phone finder?
tiresome
tiresome for you
I did activate the htc sense account but it only works if there is a SIM in the phone. Since I got back to the States (I got the phone overseas and used an intl SIM), I took out the sim to avoid overages and it disabled the htcsense account.
Have been checking my Android account online and it looks like the phone hasn't connected to the market place since last week. Losing all hope

Finally I brick my E973,, :(

Couple days ago my beloved Bell E973 wont reay sim card.
Here is what happed. the original from bell, but I bought a unlocked code to use my Rogers sim. It's working perfect for 2 or 3 weeks. I love the screen. personal I like it bettter than S3.
I did not root or unlock the bootloader and one day when I put sim card in, it just said NO SIM. I tried with bell sim. same
So I rooted and tried all kind of ROMs, even F180S. that's fun. but still wont read sim.
If anyone buy it as a parts or want to fix it. let me know. I am in Toronto
You tried to re-unlock it ?
Also, if you flashed korean firmware, your radio will mostly be gone.
no really to re unlocked it, since I tried my friends Bell sim. doesnt work

Might still worth a shot.
omg that sucks=( good luck getting fixed
btw
i saw your post on kijiji lmfao !! we live around each other lmao!!
Did you put it in the proper way?
I made the mistake of putting a sim in the wrong way once on my BB and even took it to a Rogers store and then felt like an idiot after the guy pointed out what I did.

Two things about your phone:
I may be interested in it for parts, depending on price of course. Mine has a dead spot in the digitizer, and as I bought it second hand, LG won't warranty it for me. I'd not want to spend more than the price of a screen/digitizer assembly, so it might be worth more to someone else.
Have you tried a different sim in it? If the phone is unlocked, try a friend's sim card, maybe your sim just died. Edit: missed your reply about trying your friend's bell sim
Have you tried a hard reset?
Have you tried reinstalling the original rom, using the original KDZ file and the "unbrick" method?
Can you browse internet, play store, or use any program with data connection via wifi?
- first, it might be the unlock procedure did it. I had 2 out 5 devices ran into this scenario after doing a factory unlock.
- second, but unlikely and super scarce situations, Bell might have locked up your device's IMEI that caused it. I got one relative that the carrier locked up his phone after doing a factory unlock.
My Rogers E971 stopped recognizing SIM cards yesterday. It is unlocked/rooted. Hoping I can reroot/lock bootloader and send in for warranty service. Still trying to figure it all out.

Optimus G sim card inserted or removed all the variations of the device automatically restarts.
Did you notice this situation?
Inhabitants of this problem, removing or inserting the sim card would not open the device?

Woo911, you have used wrong title for your thread thus eliminating people who might know a solution to your problem to ignore the thread, inability to read the sim doesn't mean your device is bricked.

When I first got the phone it would reboot when I inserted and removed SIM cards. It has since stopped doing this.

Just an update. I couldn't figure out how to unroot and relock my bootloader. I ended up sending it off to LG for warranty servicing via my carrier and they fixed it free of charge.

Unlocked GSM Galaxy Nexus - No signal al all

Hello,
A bit about my Nexus: Bought it online, it's the Domoco version, unlocked, rooted and been using just fine with many custom ROMs.
So yesterday morning, I was talking on the phone with a friend without any problem. After hanging up for a few hours, when I was about to call someone else, I realized my phone didn't have any signal at all. And it has been like that until now, about 48 hours.
It happened so suddenly without any warning. The phone has never been dropped and everything else working just fine.
So here's what I have tried:
- Restart the phone (multiple times)
- Batter pull (multiple times)
- Factory reset the phone (multiple times)
- Wipe cache and dalvik cache in CWM (multiple times)
- Downloaded SetCPU and set the minimum to 700Mhz (instead of 350Mhz)
- Reflash the ROM and tried with other Custom ROMs (I tried Xenon, Xylon, PA, and Carbon ROMs)
- Reflash the Radio and tried with other Radios too (I tried UILH1, XXLH1, SC04DOMLE3 and some others ...)
- I also went to Tmobile and request a new sim card - same problem.
- I borrowed a sim card from another Tmobile customer to try it on my phone - no signal - but the sim card works just fine on his phone.
I ran out of thing to try and I dont understand what happened ... anyone has an idea or something else for me to try ?
Anyone experience this before ?
Welcome too my hell. I have a playstore one now but my first Gnex was an international one and it has this same issue. Its a PCB problem a warranty would fix. I'm near Chicago and a few people have told me there is an electrical engineer downtown that fixes stuff like this. I don't have a price but I think something like this is your only option. Mine sadly is still a battery charger:thumbdown:

I know it sounds stupid, but have you tried toggling airplane mode? I run into the occasional loss of signal when im at work [fair to weak signal in the big metal box], and a reboot is the only thing that fixes it for me. Mines a play store model.

Ah yes, I actually did try that too but forgot to mention. I tried toggle airplane mode on and off, also the 2G only mode on and off. But it didn't help with anything.
Thanks for the suggestion.

So I guess I have to look for an electrician then, cause I have this phone just a little bit over a year so warranty is a no go for me.
Thanks for the idea.
PS: anyone else has more option for me ? I just wondered if I have bricked my phone ... cause I flashed lots of diff. ROMs to try out but never gotten a bricked phone before, could this be a bricked phone ?
Bricked refers to a phone that does what a brick does: nothing. It doesn't boot, it does not light or attempt to boot, it does nothing. This is a signal issue..I have no prior experience with docomo, but this thread came up on search: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574018, maybe it'd be helpful. Have you converted it to yakju or takju and tried a google factory image?
And this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554150. If it is a circuit board, it kinda looks like s.o.l., and im sad to say that to you.
I wanted to let you know that I experienced the same issue. I bought the unlocked Docomo Galaxy Nexus, and had it working fine on T-Mobile for half a year, and then suddenly had no signal on Tuesday. Nothing I did - factory reset, battery in and out, sim card in and out - could fix it. Have you tried using different sim cards in your phone to see what works and what doesn't?
I figured out that my phone will accept AT&T, and actually does connect to T-Mobile while roaming (I used an international sim card). But, my phone will say "Cannot find mobile network" when any T-Mobile sim card is inserted.

I also have the same problem with the docomo phone. ATT Sim card works. Tried other's T-mobile sim cards and it doesn't work. I wonder if somehow the IMEI has been blocked by T-mobile.

I know others who bought their GNEX through the Play Store and those work just fine with T-mobile. I tried their sim cards in my phone and it doesn't work. I don't think T-mobile is intentionally blocking the docomo phones, because I'm getting T-mobile through roaming, when I use an international sim. My guess is they're doing something to the cell network that just somehow leaves our configuration out. Hopefully it's temporary, but who knows.
Worse case, I'll just purchase a Nexus 4, because I love 4G data for just $30/month with T-mobile. Anyone else got suggestions?

Alright, update on this and there' good news. I called Tmobile and they said my IMEI is actually Blocked. The reason, according to him, is that Tmobile usually sweep the network to clean up all "un-supported" devices, so my device is apparently one of them and therefore got blocked about 2 days ago.
So he said for this, he needs to escalate it to business support and they surely can unblock it for me, but I have to wait until Monday since they don't work on weekend. But well, that's surely a good news. phewwwwwwwwwwwwww !!!
So to all of you guys who are in the same situation, make sure you call Tmobile first before flashing crazy like I did LOL.
Thanks for all the help.
I'd love to know if you are able to get this unblocked and working as I have the same problem as of Tuesday. I was traveling and went into a TMO store, and they told me it was NOT IMEI blocked. In fact they looked at the IMEI and read the page and said 'it was not eligible for blocking'.
I called TMO to see if my phone is IMEI blocked, and through three levels of support the universal answer was no. I'm now fully confused because if it's a hardware issue, why did several people all have the same problem all on Tuesday. For those others who are having issues, can you see the TMO network but not connect to it? That's what I have, I can see TMO and AT&T but haven't been able to connect to either one since Tuesday.

I'll call up T-Mobile tomorrow and ask if they IMEI blocked my device. I had them reset my signal and give me a new SIM card, but didn't realize it could have been IMEI blocked. I'll give them a call on Monday and let you know what the result is. Maybe it won't be too late to cancel my order on that Nexus 4...
I'm quite confused. I've been told last Thursday in a TMO store and with tech support that I didn't have an IMEI block, and the same with three reps tonight. I know the Sim Card is good, and so I'm being told its a hardware issue. However, several of the same phones had the same issue on the same day, so I can't buy it's a hardware issue. Has anyone with this issue flashed a new or different radio into the phone, either before or after the service loss? I have not, running it as it came out of the box.
I just got off the phone with T-Mobile Support, and they told me the device is not blocked. The reason is that T-Mobile cannot block or unblock devices that are not registered to T-Mobile. So I'm back to square one on this.

That makes me think its something to do with the radio software, because I am the same the problem overall doesn't seem as large as the number of phones I perceive were bought on the Docomo deal.
Ive been using the docomo version of the nexus as well on tmobile for almost a year and it was since last tuesday when it no longer recieved any singal. with some digging around and too many phone calls, I found that the imei number on the phone is not the same as the one under the battery. i have the generic 004999010640000 imei right now and it not sure how i got it. as i bought it unlocked.
what i have tried:
reboot, battery plug, reinsert sim, factory reset, root and flash, got a new sim card, relocked, unlocked
sim card works on other phones.
also i have called tmobile and samsung endlessly and this is what i got:
tmobile cannot unblock the imei since it is not from them.
samsung is redirecting me to their japan branch.
docomo i cannot reach.
my phone before last tuesday:
unrooted stock 4.2.1
been testing different things to see if there is any way to restore the imei
also using root explorer, i cannot find my efs folder....
I've got the same problem since last Tuesday with my GNex and T-Mobile.
Mine is not from docomo though, but the French phone provider SFR, unlocked through FDocomo apk.
Rooted phone, running 4.2.1., no changes whatsoever in the past month and it worked fine until Tuesday, so I don't think I'm responsible for having no signal.
Honestly, I am relieved to see we are quite a few to have this problem, and also very pissed at T-Mobile for causing all this. What should be the next step then? Is there any chances they fix the issue quickly? If not, I might just go to the competition. I've tried AT&T sim cards and they work fine.

I have the exact same generic IMEI number as you, which does not match the number under the battery. I'm not liking the news that you did flash and still no go. I'm a novice at this stuff so please keep us posted.

Problems with new SIM card LG G3

Hi there,
I am a so far satisfied owner of a G3 but since 10 days I have been having an issue with my G3 and I wanted to ask around if someone here has an idea or some thought that could help.
My situation is the following:
About 2 weeks ago I switched my mobile service provider. When my new SIM card from my new provider arrived I tried the SIM card in my G3 but there was just the massage "no sim card found" and no possibility to type in your PIN. So I thought maybe I got a defective SIM card, it happens. I ordered a new one but the problem remained with the new card in my G3 aswell, still no pssibility to type in my PIN. So I tried troubleshooting and started trying the SIM cards in diffrent phones. In other phones the SIM card from the new provider worked perfectly and I was able to type in my PIN like it should be. When I tried putting other SIM cards in my G3 (from my Mom, Dad etc. and also from different providers) none of them worked in my G3. Even my sisters SIM card from the same new provider AND she has also a G3. So far it seems that the my G3s SIM card reader is broken.
The weird thing is that when I put in my G3 my old SIM card from the old provider the prompt to type in my PIN appears as normal as ever. If I type in my PIN the phone accepts the PIN normally. There is just no reception which is normal because I am not with my old provider anymore. I also have to add that the phone appears not to have SIM lock. I bought it from a private seller but he bought the G3 with a vodafone contract and I was with O2 at that time and the phone worked perfectly. Just until I switched from O2 to Congstar (Telekom) the problem began.
So I thought I just send it back to LG because I still have warranty on the device. The phone is rooted so I need to admit that it was not that clever to send the phone in without rolling back the rooting. Today I got a letter from the repair service from LG with an estimate of cost which means no surprise, no warranty for me. You guess right, the reason is the rooting they write they need to change the whole mainboard. For me this sound like plain bull**** because on the document they send it seems like the first thing they check is a rooting and if the device is rooted then thats the cause. But ok it was pretty stupid from me not to unroot it, I know.
Now I wanted to ask you if someone had a similar problem with their G3 or has an idea what the cause could be. Like mentioned above with my old SIM card the phone worked normally. Just the new cards and all other cards, even another O2 card did not work. Is it possible that just one and only one SIM cards gets accepted from the phone?
Sorry for the long post. I am thankful for any advice.
Best regards,
Patrick
I'll have my phone back tomorrow. If someone still has an idea I would be very thankful about some thoughts or suggestions.
Thanks!

It seems your phone is Sim locked.
You need to find the unlocking code that you need to put in the hidden menu.
Google for LG G3 Sim unlock.

Hi,
thanks for your reply! Iam not sure it is because of sim lock- Because the phone came with a vodafone contract but when I bought it I was with O2. And with my old sim card from O2 the phone worked perfectly. Weird is that when I put in a different O2 sim card the pin prompt also did not appear. Same with any other sim card ...
Thanks,
Patrick
Or did maybe someone have a similar experience with a different phone?
Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
Hi again,
I tried some more things but still nothing helped.
The things I tried were:
- unrooting the phone and factory reset
- reflash radios
- try completely diffrent rom (CM)
Still I have no idea what the cause could be. Maybe the sim card reader is just broken. Just weird that it reads my deactivated sim card.
I would really appreciate it if someone has an idea or some similar experience..
Thanks!
You can buy an unlock code for 3.5-4€ , works for any LG G3 variant
Try it
Ok, thanks! I will try it!
So I just looked at what I have to do and tried the combination 2945#*855# to see where I have to type in the code. The thing is when I choose any one of the appearing options like netlock etc. the phone says "this phone is permanently locked" and there is no possibility to type in any code...
How the hell is my phone completely locked...

Rooted P3aXL, I reset wifi/mobile/bluetooth, now no LTE and APN won't stay!!

Hey all - long story short, my upload speeds today topped out at .13MB/s, so in desperation I called Verizon, who did some resetting on their end and talked me into resetting my wifi/mobile/bluetooth, which is in settings/system/reset options.
Since then, I've had no 4G and nothing has brought it back. Just did a factory reset and STILL nothing!!
Interestingly, when I open up my APNs, there's only the Verizon one, but it's never selected - even if I select it, still no LTE, and after a reboot it's unselected again. Also with this phone seems I can't edit or add APNs.
I am *absolutely* out of options - really figured the factory reset would take care of it!! I would be most grateful for any help you can give! Thanks in advance - can't tell you how much I appreciate it.
So fun story - on a whim I put the SIM of another 4G phone in, and works like a CHARM. So somehow resetting the wifi/mobile/bluetooth fried the SIM! I think I got one for free at the Verizon store last time this happened, so I'll head there first thing tomorrow!

So you put the SIM in another phone and it worked fine? I am pretty sure you just proved the SIM is fine and the problem is in the device, or it's configuration...
I have been through a dozen phone on one SIM, never had a SIM fail and I have only replaced it when changing carriers. Odd that this happened to you, and happened at least once before...
Nope, I put another phone's SIM into my phone

But you put your original SIM into another phone and it worked fine in another device? Or am I misunderstanding?
I am not trying to argue here, just understand...
No, I never did - I didn't try my SIM in another phones, but I did take the SIM out of my girlfriend's phone and put it into mine, which then immediately got a 4G signal, so I knew the SIM was the issue. Ran to the Verizon store for a new one, and the guy there said "whoa, that's a really old SIM" and I had to remind him what a SIM cutter was - I've had it a while
