Helium backup restore not working - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

Anyone have any luck using helium restore on the Pixel? Whenever i try to restore apps its says that it completed the restore but the app is not installed. I've tried it restoring my apps from the Note 7 and even taking a new backup on the pixel and restoring it...same problem.

Someone mentioned that it does restore the data, but not the APK... so presumably you could install the APK via the Play Store and it would be set up the way it was from your original device.
I have not tried it.

yes that is correct. i ended up trying that after i posted. Installed app from the playstore and then restored the data and it worked. Still a pain in the rear to manually install all my apps from the store first. I wonder if anyone has found a way to get it to install the app as well. I do have it set to backup the app as well as the data in the backup settings

Restore using backup pro ... i face couple of apps crashes issue.
My Backup Pro works fine across ALL ROMS with Data restore.
U can restore them via Android Commander, too.
i use titanium backup always worked fine for me
Both Titanium and MyBackup aren't working for me. Marketlinks are always bugged.
just tried the following ... i think its the safest
- after fresh rom install
- go to appsbrain and login goggle acct
- syn with your apps brain acct and perform all installs/updates
- reset phone .. clean rom with latest apps.

you had to restore apps AND data
If you followed the install procedure for the ROM then you Odin'd in EG22 tar thus deleting all your third party apps that Mybackup backs up. So like just mentioned in the above post, restore apps AND data.

[Q] Google services framework stopped after nandroid restore.

Hi,
After rooting and trying some ROM's out i wanted to go back to an 'old' ROM from which I had a nandroid backup. It went smooth the first time but the second time I got a error saying that Google services framework stopped working.
Only the stock app worked and none of my other installed apps did.
I couldn't even open the settings menu nor could i open Titanium backup.
I then reflashed the ROM and manually copied some TB backup folders but lost all other data.
Someone has an idea about this?

Titanium Backup will not restore from Nandroid backup. HTC One m9 Nougat, Rooted

I cannot restore any apps from my nandroid backup onto my phone using Titanium Backup.
It opens the Nandroid backup correctly, and i can select apps to restore
It than says "Processing" for a while, and then skips to the last app and then says "Restore completed successfully", but no apps have been restored.
I cannot find this issue anywhere
Any help is welcome
Same issue
Depends what your selecting vs what you have permissions to do. Rooted? S-off? Restoring system apps? Restoring system settings?. Some things are not allowed to be restored.
Deselect all system apps, system settings, google apps and htc apps. You might have better luck.

Nandroid Manager restores the apps but without data for some reason
Im willing to pay someone for a solution. I think this problem is device related in some way.

The simplest way I found, make a TWRP backup of your current ROM, restore your nand-backup, from there make backups of the apps you need, then restore the TWRP backup of current configuration. From there u will be able to restore needed apps.
Or submit this bug to TB team and wait for a fix.

Try to install different versions and everything will turn out ® Titanium Backup - {Mod edit: Link deleted. Oswald Boelcke}
Hi all, i never found a solution to the issue.
I assume by some huge coincidence that both of my backups (nandroid and Titanium backup) were both corrupt. I cut my losses and started fresh, and uses older backups where necessary

Question Best way to backup apps and data? Any suggestions?

Hi everyone,
I'm going to flash oxygen os since most of the problems have been solved.
Does anyone know a way to backup apps and data, i tried titanium backup, but it seems that it can only backup but fails to restore them. Thanks in advance
Titanium backup worked fine for me. But other app I know is Helium Backup. But it is a super old app not sure if it's working perfectly. Worked for some of my apps.

Swift Backup
OnePlus Clone Phone app if you have a spare OnePlus/Oppo phone.
It's not a backup/restore app, but it can copy apps and their data - something which is not possible without root any more.
I would use apps' built-in feature to backup, if available, before relying on Titanium/ Swift, etc. What use is a backup that cannot be restored?
In my case, there aren't too many apps that need an offline backup, so it works for me. If you are flashing a new ROM, it is better to setup everything fresh than restoring from 3rd party backups.
