I've had PI3 for a little over a week.
Starting last night, with original charger, fast charging stopped working and regular charging kept going in and out.
I notice it had powered off overnight, and when it was on later, it said the phone had powered off because it was overheating, so it powered off for safety.
PC charging still works(cable to PC) and it seems other fast charging with some other chargers it working either.
Fast charging doesn't work with any charger now.
Is it possibly the ROM? Can you fast charge while the phone is powered off? Any ideas?
Settings -> Battery -> Fast Charging (Cycle that On/Off/On)
If that doesn't work then I'd say it sounds as though the original charger malfunctioned/died/has an issue.
Do you know someone with a original S6 charger to test that theory?
That's my input as I haven't had a problem on PI3. Good luck!
EDIT:
Yes the phone fast charges when powered off if fast charging is enabled.
Ok, I'm trying some different cables too, but definitely it seems that fast charging is not working anymore, no matter which fast charger i use.
You had a charging problem with different firmware and different cables as you reported here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s6/help/poor-car-charging-reboot-t3470187
It seems likely the issue is with the port on your phone.
I determined it's the charging port. Thank you

Anyone else notice that our Nitro is rather fickle about the power source it receives?
If my battery is completely drained, it MUST be plugged into a higher power source than USB (so far a wall charger that ouputs 750ma works) until it gets an initial charge (usually needs at least a couple of %)...Then it will accept charging from USB (USB provides 500ma).
I can tell when it's in this "state" because it remains dead if I plug it into USB and then if I plug it into a wall charger the touch buttons at the bottom flash for a few times and then the LG logo pops up and finally a charging battery icon comes on. Considering this sequence, this seems like a functionality of the phone. I wonder if this is common, my Nexus One certainly didn't have a higher-initial charge rate requirement when the battery was dead.
I've experienceed the same scenario.

I only have chargers that operate 1.8amps and higher.
As the battery is an issue the higher the amps the faster it will charge

Well I did notice that if it was on usb...and I had bluetooth...gps, and wifi...plus running some apps and stuff...the battery actually continued to drain I think they have the usb thing as a safety measure...for some reason...I think it's odd...but meh
try a usb cable that has 2 jacks plugs to connect to tyhe computer. These cables are often supplied with external hard drives as they they require more power than can be supplied by just one usb connection.
I was also having the problem of my p-930 discharging while plugged into compute usb jack - even when screen off nad only in charge mode. I have since bought a dual plugged usb cable and it charges now. Although I haven't tried it from a completely discharged state.
my spectrum is the same way.. i can charge it with usb.. but it takes about 15-20 minutes to get enough charge to turn on

This! I only charge with a wall adapter now. I had a hard time charging it until someone here recommended this to me.
Just put CM11 M8 on my kindle fire hd 8.9, love it, but have one question. I notice while it's charging, the lock screen will switch between saying charging/discharging. Meaning when the screen is off, as soon as I turn it on it says charging, then 1 second later it changes to discharging and stays that way...this is all done while the screen is locked. It looks like it is charging albeit extremely slow based on the percentage increasing...but is this normal behavior?
I've already tried two different usb cables.
What are you plugging the KFHD into? I have charged mine from 1A, 1.8A, and 2.1A ports, and while I don't remember ever seeing it switch back and forth between charging/discharging. As a side note, charging from a 1.8A or 2.1A port leads to fairly swift charging (I've used the original KFHD USB cable as well as AmazonBasics 1m and 2m cables with no change in charge time).
As a side note, I am also on CM11 M8
I'm running nightly builds with the Amazon 2.1 amp charger and have not seen this problem. Perhaps try a different charger to see if it still happens, it may be the charger itself.

Yes, I'm having the same issue. In my case, the unit reports 'not charging' even when it clearly is. I have no idea what the problem is, but as long as it charges, it's something to ignore.
It's no issue of CM - this is normal when you use low-power charger (effect is the same when charging from PC or Notebook USB ~ 500mA).
When you turn the screen on, power consumption is increasing and charger has not enough power to deal with it.
I recommend you to buy more powerful charger.
>1,8A chargers should charge easily even when the screen is on.
as an update; it seems that as of recently (I've switched from CM11 M8 to Liquid Smooth v3.2) the charging has slowed significantly. I don't use it all that often, so as of lately I've gone >1wk between charges. Two nights ago I plugged it into a 2A charger (intended for a Galaxy Tab) at 24% at 10pm, at 5am it had only increased to 77%. Last night, while plugged into my Galaxy S5's 2A charger it took almost all night to charge about 50%, and this morning it stated "99% Discharging" while still plugged in.
This is an interesting thing...
For some reason, I was charging my phone and it just stopped. It was only the second time I decided to charge without "fast charging" ticked and it is puzzling me. After testing a combination of all my chargers, I found that the problem seems to be the fast charging adapter. It does not even stay plugged in all the time... Is it normal for them to stop working after only a few months? Or could the problem lie within my phone?
Okay, I am pretty sure the problem is with the adaptive charger and maybe the usb cable. Would Best Buy be able to exchange my charger for a new one since I bought the phone in like October or something?
Hello
I come to you with an interesting problem.
Recently I flashed my OnePlus 3 with CM13 and the ElementalX kernel. One important thing with this kernel is that it supports dash charging.
I normally don't use dash and just charge my phone via my computer. Today however I noticed that my phone got charged really fast so I looked into it.
This is my first post on XDA so I can't post a screenshot but Ampere showed that I was charging at 1500mA with an AC charger while connected to my computers USB port.
This seems to only occur when the laptop is in sleep mode. Now I'd shrug this off as a designated USB 3.0 charging port, but a) the computer doesn't have any and b) I tried it with a USB 2.0 port and I got the same result.
Once this actually happened when the computer was awake. I plugged in my phone, and the computer gave me the USB device has malfunctioned error but my phone was charging at 1.5A
I am genuinely worried. 1.5 A is alot even IF it were a charging port. Is there something wrong with my laptop or phone. This didn't happen on stock OS btw (coincidence?)
iirc ElementalX includes fast usb charge function
Like the guy said above, it supports fast charging but 900ma max, I had the same thing with my laptop. My phone charged real fast only when it was off. Don't worry ampere is glitched on this phone seems as it shows dash charging to be 1.5A also.
Hi
I have owned an lg g4 T-Mobile for a few months now and it's on stock marshmallow and it's been working fine up till recently.
Here is the issue
1) phone sometimes doesn't recognise the charger, I tried different cables and chargers with the same result, although the problem was more consistent with a quick charger 2.0.
2) phone sometimes recognises the charger but I leave it plugged for an hour and the phone doesn't charge at all.
3) I used to charge my phone using a quick charger 2.0
4) no change in battery life
5) everything else is fully functional.
6) I stopped using the quick charger since and the phone has mostly been charging normally, I don't know how to explain it but after stopping charging with the quick charger, other chargers started charging normally again.
I can use the regular charger with no problems but I really miss the fantstic quick charging.
Could the quick charger have actually damaged the phone, is it safe to use it ?
