Hello guys,
Prior OP3 I owned an HTC ONE E9 +. I made backup of contacts and stuff to my Htc backup account. Does anybody know how to make my OP3 to look like a HTC phone, in order to restore my stuff from my HTC account, please?
Thank you in advance!
When you first start the phone it ask you if you want to copy content from another phone.
Of cousre data, contacts, etc, NOT system.
This is not about phone to phone transfer... My Htc e9 is broken, they refunded me and now my backup is on htc servers, or Google Drive, I don't know. From htc servers, trough HTC BACKUP apk I want to restore my backup to my OP3. But, not being htc phone, I cannot connect it to my Htc account...
So, I need that my OP3 to have the signature "HTC ONE" in order to be recognized like htc and to be allowed to connect.
Hope you understand my issue.
Thanks

this isn't an HTC phone - there's no way to restore an HTC backup, and there's no way to get an HTC ROM on it so your HTC account will recognize it.
I hope your phone also was backed up with your google account.
Oh, not good news for me then... I have HTC sense installed, but no luck to get access to my account to download htc themes. I thought it is possible to change the signature of the phone, though...
But, if it's not possible, I will input manually all the contacts..
Thanks!
You may be able to edit the build prop.
But you need:
To be rooted I think
The HTC e9 info to change it to
Probably still will not work.
I need to check this idea... I have heard about editing the build... I will search this forum maybe I will find something.
?
Are the contacts not backed up to your Google account? If not can you export them from your HTC sense account in a more friendly format.
I cannot log in on my Htc sense account with this phone, this is my problem...
If your backup files are on Google drive you can directly download the files and restore the contacts unless HTC saves them in a non standard format.
Did you try the HTC Sync Manger or what is it called?

Contacts can be saved to youre Google account or to SD card. File has .vcf termination.

Try logging in to it from a desktop, or Chrome in desktop mode.
Even it is risky I think that I stick to the build prop edit... I read about it and I think it's possible... Others made it to download apk from Google Play... Not for OP3 but still...
Finally, after installing Htc Sense home 8 I was able to log in into my account and download my theme, icons, etc..
With Sense 7 I couldn't do it...

Can't seem to get HTC Sync 3.0.5387 to work on my desktop running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. I keep getting this error when I try to run it:
"htc upct loader has stopped working"
Seems to work fine on my laptop also running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate though which hasn't had any other HTC Sync version installed on it. Any ideas :?
Hmmm ... found that version for the HTC Wildfire ... and it asks for a valid SN
HTC Desire section allows me only to take the 2.0.x version.
Shouldn't the problem come from that ?
Did you un-install the previous version first?
I have had no problems using the exact same operating system.

Yeah I don't think it's made for the desire but it works on my laptop just not on my desktop for some reason, it has had HTC Sync installed on it previously so maybe there is an old driver or something lying around :S

Yep I uninstalled it before installing, disabled virus scanner as well, no idea what's going on :/
You definately also removed the HTC Driver Installer program too?
Have you tried cleaning the registry and deleting any HTC folders from the drive?
Sound like something is conflicting somewhere.

Yep uninstalled both HTC programs, only via control panel though.. I think you are right there is probably something hanging around in the registry etc. Don't suppose anyone knows of a tool to clean the registry :?
CCleaner is a good one!
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
Can clean a load of temporary files for you too.
Phil
Can someone please share this ?
This is where I got my copy from:
http://www.mikesouthby.co.uk/2010/08/how-to-sync-itunes-with-htc-desire-via-htc-sync/
Cheers m8... I was already at rapidshare
So I take it that the rest of you are enjoying the ability to only sync the past month's calender
Is there a way round this as I'd like to sync the whole calender as per previous HTC Sync versions
You can try resetting the phones date to, say 01.01.2007. and then let it sync.
This was suggested in another forum somewhere.
so how does this itunes sync via htc? do i sync the phone then go into itunes? is there a htc sync icon in itunes???
Thanks

Thanks mate, well I cleaned up the registry and removed all traces of anything named HTC but after a restart and fresh install it's still giving the same error
Gentleman,
Doesn't HTC Sync 3.0 have a repair option ? I want to overwrite my mobile with PC data and just can't seem to find the option
- Not to worry, I ended up doing a hard reset :|
Anyone have the stock rooted HTC Desire rom with Sense UI for USCC. When I flashed cyan I apparently didn't do a Nandroid Backup and was needing this. thanks...

Yeah, tried this one and it doesn't have htc sense...any other thoughts?
Why don't you think it has sense? It is the basically the factory image.
Sent from my HTC Desire via Tapatalk
It is basically a vanilla Cyan. It doesn't have the sense theme and/or any of the sense widgets. Basically I can deal without the widgets but I desperately need to be able to sync with my microsoft outlook. I used outlook religiously for all work info and need that info to be on my phone as well. The Sense operating system allowed this whenplugged through usb, you could download HTC Sync and it would sync up my outlook with my phone....Info in outlook needed: contacts, calendar, tasks....I've downloaded a calendar app which used gmail to sync and that's okay, (not great) but the main thing is my tasks and contacts now....
The one I pointed to brought my phone back to the way it was when I got the phone aside from being rooted still. It has all the original widgets that came with it.
I also sync my outlook calendar, contacts and email with it.
The only difference was that this image was still rooted and not set back to a true unrooted factory state. I'm really not sure why you are not seeing you phone back to the way it was when you walked out of the USCellular store the day you got it after restoring to this image.
Have you tried connecting con247 yet and see what he says about this?
I don't know either.....I will try and contact him and let you know...thanks for the help...
edit: I tried downloading it again and the same result. Boots up Cyan again. Does it matter if you use the free download link rather than purchasing the premium. Another thought: If I get a hold of another desire and root it and then do a back up of the Sense UI, could I just simply copy/paste the backup into my SD Card backup file and then restore that?
It sounds like you need to undo the cyan install somehow before you can run this.
I have not gone any further than a basic root to remove some apps so I am not too familiar with what all doing a cyan mod changes on the system.

I just need The Stock so the *22890 will program my phone, Im having a hard time finding it for some reason.
And why can you revert back the root? As I can see, you have stock rom, but only rooted. If it's working properly, it's no reason to unroot. Id you do it because of original HTC service, they can realize that you were rooted even if now you aren't.
Edit: But if you want to find Stock rom with no changes, try this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667.
I have a question.
recently I was using in my m9 version 5.1 htc my account backup and restore.
after to update my m9 to version 6.0 account htc backup disappears. this is normal? or in version 6 disappear this excellent backup function htc account. and only work at the gmail account
I think htc backup was discontinued but you can only restore in marshmallow, you cannot create a backup.
Lucky for me i had setup my 115gb gdrive as my auto backup location..

Luckily for you, but I want to keep doing backup in my version 6 masmellow. since I format my htc frequently. and restoration of htc me worked wonders. if you upgrade to 6.0 is no longer the backup. what one could do an old restoration. gmail account and does not allow saving call history, accounts wifi. much less the sense settings 7 anyone knows if any rom cooked as revolution or viper. even follows the backup htc?
It is 6.0 across the board. No roms, no matter what they are, will fix it.
Backups will have to be done by a separate app.

that your application you use to sync and backup ?? to keep you data calls, text messages, claves wifi, sense activity 7.0.
Hello,
So a few days ago, My HTC One M8 decided to randomly reboot itself. When it restarted it went through the whole optimizing each app (which was weird) and then loaded the home screen. But now most of my stuff has reset itself! I was logged out of every app I am normally automatically logged into. All my photos are still there and text messages. But I have lost every single person in my contact book and call log history! This is what I would like to get back.
I made a backup a couple months ago using HTC Backup. This is what happens when I try to restore the backup:
Apps>HTC Backup>Restore from backup>Checking for saved backup>
Then it finds the backup on Google Drive (G*******[email protected]) So I select the HTC (This Phone) backup and click next>
Then it saids setting up accounts>Choose an account>G*******[email protected]>
Then I get the following error message
"Incorrect cloud storage account"
"Please sign in with the cloud storage account for the selected backup"
Can someone please help? I have opened the Drive app and logged into my account and tried again but still nothing. I assume this problem is arising because of the Drive app or the HTC backup app resetting itself. But I really need my contacts back!
I am running Android 6.0. Not rooted.
Things I have tried to restore my contacts:
Wondershare Dr.Fone
Resyncing contacts on my Gmail, Hotmail etc. (but i never saved them to those)
HTC Phonebook>Contacts to display>All contacts
None of these have worked.
Thanks in advance!
Ok just found out HTC Backup isn't supported with Android 6.0 :/
So with that option off the table.. Is there any way at all that I can get my contact list back?
Ok well seems like I still should have access to the HTC restore function just not the backup function with Android 6.0.
Does anyone know how to help me restore from the back up?
Thanks
HTC restore will restore the backup that you made prior to Marshmallow.
Don't you backup you contact with gmail account ? When you sync it, it will sync your contact ?
The only way that maybe work (no guarantee) is do factory reset. During the setup, it will ask you to restore from which backup that you recently have with Marshmallow and make your selection to restore (don't choose today .. but earlier)

Settings - backup and reset - restore from HTC backup.
I'm on an M8 running 6.0 and I can see it.

Backing up contacts to Google/Gmail is default and automatic. So unless you changed the default, they should be backed up, and will restore automatically, when you login to your Google account.
Every time i started it, it crashes!
Won't really use it, but its my only solution getting my contacts back from that ****ty .vef file!
The return to a Stock rom is no option for me, because its crashing theire too and isn't stable!
Maybe someone has a solution or advise getting .vef contacts back at oreo!
Thanks already for your help and advises!
I just ran into the same thing
The problem is on the "Phone" only contacts of course, the Google ones should be easy to sync.
I used an app from the playstore "App Backup and Restore" Trustlook Inc... which backs up both the phone and the google into one archive
but, I had a running system to create the archive with.
If you don't have a running M8 ....
you could send the vef file (and the password) to someone who has a working m8 or M9 (?)

Yes, i belive it's possible, if i would know one running an M8. HTC support won't help because data protection. Asked today with a customer mail for another solution with a script or tool to convert it!
I have a running m8 with lineageos15 but no way to return to android6, yes i could flash an RUU but this is allways buggy for me and contacts crashes :/
Did you make a TWRP backup of whatever ROM you were using before Oreo (you should always make a nandroid, and this is one reason why)? If it worked on that ROM, it should still work, if you restore. Then backup the contacts to Google, and flash back to Oreo.

Yes would be a solution, but wondering why HTC doesn't offer any tool for this crap vef files. Hoping to recive one from HTC, but probably only in my dreams! If i should get one i will link it here, for other users had this bad experience too! Still don't get it why HTC using such a crap, with password protected files and vef instead of vcf and no single info about it within the export progress!
