If so, were you able to uninstall completely?
yes and yes
Not on my Canadian one, purchased through bell. Actually there's no "bloatware" on mine.
Verizon model from Best Buy and no it was not on it
Pretty sure it was only presinstalled on the Google Store edition

Allo does you should have it figured out assuming you just unboxed and turned on the phone the first time if it's there then yes. Android doesn't auto download stuff unless you have a virus.

It was installed on my Verizon 32GB. I believe it was one of the 12 apps that was automatically installed upon setup ("Installing 1 of 12" apps part).
Messenger is default either way. I uninstalled Allo.

We may have to agree to disagree
Until they merge some of the apps I don't agree. Google Voice, Hangouts, Messages, Allo, Duo. Once they merge together/retire then it will be better.
Anyone get an unlocked version directly from Google? If so, was it preinstalled? If it was, could it be uninstalled or just disabled?

Its starting to aggravate me that my old phone can do more than this tablet. Is jb really that new? No one prepared for it's release? Come on! Love my tablet but wtf is the hold up with the apps not being ready to use like td bank and Amazon mobile to name a few.

I must agree to a certain extent. NatWest banking app fails on jellybean, it just won't show my balance. For the most part however, apps work fine.

Unlikely has anything to do with JB. Most likely the permissions listed below are incompatible with the Nexus 7.
Amazon Mobile requires these permissions:
Your location
coarse (network-based) location, fine (GPS) location
Network communication
full Internet access, view network state
Hardware controls
take pictures, control vibrator

Yes I keep encountering apps that don't appear in the market. They may very well work, but won't appear for nexus 7/jelly bean.
Some examples?
linephone
GT racing Hyundai edition
And there are lots of others that I can't think of now. Since owning this nexus (since launch date) I've probably encountered 30-40 apps that aren't available on the market. And I know there are lots others. Didn't really bother me at first, but I thought with how much this has sold that developers would issue (what would be minor most of the time) updates so these would be available.
And I've never bothered looking into it, but I know obviously you can keep an apk when downloading it from the market and others have posted them on various websites for others in situations like this, however my understanding is with jb it encrypts them so this is no longer possible with jb.
Because sometimes I get determined and go hunting for an apk and it turns out to be two versions behind or whatever. Is there a way to download apks even on jb? Is there an app that can do this? I'm not saying this regarding pirating, just another means of trying to get apps that are free that would more than likely work on this device.
So, my question for you today is: whats your default gallery app? Do you guys use the Google Photos as default? Im asking this because my opinion about GPhotos is that its not a quickly and fast app, I have 4.000 pics on my N5X and on GPhotos it haves some lags maybe due to this amount of pics.
If is another app, tell me what is, I would like to test new ones.
Thanks.

Quickpic.
Piktures is my new favorite. Stumbled upon it the other day. Really like it so far. The secret drive is a pretty cool feature too lol
I used to use QuickPic and Google Photos but went minimalist and using just Google Photos now. Mainly cause I don't keep as much hard copies on my phone anymore with everything backed up to Google Photos now. Including all my photos on my computer.

The Cheetah Mobile version is still really good actually. Have you tried it recently? The only ad-like thing they added was an album looking button for their cloud storage which can easily be hidden.

We can agree to disagree on that. I have been watching the app and watching what others have had to say about the latest updates and to be honest I see no reason to update. The cloud storage options are useless to me, nor would I use servers from that part of the world.
For me and thousands of others there is no reason to update.

Did you find any apps/.apks that are CheetahMobile/CleanMaster crapware?
I didn't see anything obvious (on my T-Mobile variant),but,I suspect some of the apps with the "Smart" in the app/.apk name may be their garbage.
I'm hoping this crapware,if it's installed, isn't hidden as it is on the AT&T/VZW models of the Note 5.

I pretty much just clicked anything that had the word Verizon in it or didn't look horrible. Lord knows what I managed to screw up doing it but everything is running fine until I get a verified disable "OK" list. I didn't really hunt for any apks or apps in particular -- I figure I'd let the pros do it ;P

Yeah it's not the greatest but it still works well in chrome. Also you get to use everything that you normally do. I personally set up a button widget to turn the VPN on or off.
FWIW, I have the paid version of adguard and find it works extremely well. With paid version you have https ad blocking, in-app ad blocking, and some other useful features. I forget if these additional features are available on free version. But for non rooted phones, I think this is a great option.
Also, Crystal for Samsung Browser will block ads in their app. I don't really have a need for it but it's there anyway lol.
Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
It's super important that you reenable all apps that you've disabled with Package Disabler before you do any update. I learned that the hard way once and my phone was all screwy until I did a factory reset.
Does anyone know why Google doesn't support Project Tango AR in their flagship devices? Seems if they wanted AR to improve, they'd push it in their home built phones.
I believe tango was renamed or rebuilt into ARcore. Def could be wrong

Already froze My Verizon without any problem.

Thanks for the reply. Although, there's only one problem, I actually do not have any apps, they only popup in rooted apps.
I think the reason behind is when I upgraded to 8.1, I had the sim in during the download, but then I took the sim out and restarted the phone then installed the update. So, I think maybe that's why they are hidden?
The MY Verizon app too was not visible in the app drawer, but showed up in the TB list. I was familiar with that so just froze it.
Are you on Verizon or not? I would leave any Verizon app alone if you are on Verizon minus those you can install/uninstall the the Play Store or Settings.
