Premium, good weight in the hand, no mismatched edges to catch. Love the texture difference between the volume rocker and power button.
I would say it feels like top quality materials. One may feel that to touch, it resembles the back of the second generation iPhone.
It feels full/dense and no creaking comes from it as it doesn't flex.
The weight is just perfect t for the size. I am thrilled by it.

My only issue with the feel is how slippery it is I can barely hang out to it
The phone feels great overall. Can be a bit slippery, but after using a nexus 6, not hard to manage.
The rear glass on the other hand is scratched quite a bit after about a week of use and has a small crack near the corner opposite the flash. The phone has not been dropped or used in any harsh elements. Debating sending it back and ordering another as a small crack usually turns into a big one eventually.
This thing is really well built. I have the black pixel and all I have is a screen protector on it. I've dropped and banged this thing against other solid things quite a few times already and this thing doesn't have a scratch on it. I'm actually really shocked.
I find this phone to be solid. The build quality is very good. I had the Samsung S7 prior to this and I felt I could never carry that phone without a case. This phone I feel I can get away without a case but it is slippery so I have it in a case but I may just get a skin in the future.

it is a useless phone. The materials used were good but that is about it. When it comes to hiring engineers they have a interesting/challenging interview process and when it comes to their products it is like their engineers just sit and fart. What a shame on this pixel phone. But really impressive hardware which has nothing to do with google (it is qualcomm's 820 reference design).
1. The center of gravity is on the upper half of the phone where it has a natural tendency to flip outside the hand
Something like a buttered toast always falls face down. I am not sure why the phone manufacturers do not make it a point to have the center of gravity to the lower-middle side of the phone.
2. There is a lot of bezel. The amount of bezel at the bottom looks ugly
3. The cables that come with the phone are c-type on both ends. They should have been USB on one side and c-type on the other. If that was the case I could have simply used the USB wall sockets I have installed in the house already
4. The adapter takes only c-type.
5. And the phone is very slippery. Try holding it with dry hands and in cold weather. Guaranteed for a drop.
6. They couldn't have made an L-shaped adapter? The adapter when plugged into the wall occupies more space horizontally. So, if the wall plug is behind a night stand or a bed or furniture, forget about plugging it there. The furniture needs to be moved just because of this one adapter.
Good:
1. Only the software and hardware specs are good. But do most of the phones these days come with the same specs
The front is glass, with a lot of space above and below the screen. The spec sheet lists 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 4, but curvature at the edges is extremely slight. The back and sides are a single metal frame except for a large patch of glass on the upper third of the rear.
Very, very premium feel. I love the cold metal feel on the back and the texture on the power button, in particular.
10 out of 10. Most premium feeling phone I've had.
Amazing feel in the hands. Little cold if you pick it up after leaving it on a table for a while because of the materials used, but a cool phone is better than one that overheats.

This is a basic overview of Belkin's Surround (Bumper) Case, along with a short drop test.
First off I would like to let everyone know my needs for a phone case. I needed something fairly lightweight, I wanted to show off the phone itself so a clear or backless case is preferred. I wanted something that would enhance the phones overall look without adding too much bulk.
Demo Phone Drop Test
Case Review
This model came with a light grey polymer material rubber casing, it doesn't attract lint or dust, its very easy to put in, took me about 5-10 seconds to make it perfect, so its very easy to take on and off.
The black outer rim is made of a plastic material, its very lightweight but feels rather strong. It blends beautifully with the back of the phone and gives it a little contrast to make the middle stand out a bit more.
The buttons felt really nice, the volume has a satisfying click and although the power button doesn't click it still turns on fairly easily. This case feels wonderful in hand and actually gives the phone a nice look. All the ports are fully open allowing easy access to the headset and usb ports.
Drop Test
I drop it on its face and on its side, two critical spots for testing the most common accidental phone drops, I dropped it from around waist height if not a bit higher, this isn't my phone or case, it was Best Buy's, so I can't go out and drop their display phone on concrete/pavement without getting the cops called on me.
Overall
I am very pleased with how the device looks with the bumper and how well the case held up during the two tests, further testing needs to be done on pavement/concrete, but I would rather not jeopardize my phone. Someone else take that leap
While I appreciate you taking the time to provide both a written and visual review, it seems a bit trivial considering you used a dummy unit. Obviously it would probably be costly to use an actual working device, but it may have yielded better and more thorough results.
I can understand that point, but from what I gathered the demo unit and my phone were both the same weight and seemed to be the exact same, sans screen digitizer.
I just thought the video would be beneficial for some to see how the case looks on the device and that it seems to be doing its job when it comes to protecting a phone.
Alas, some judged it based solely on the fact that it was a demo phone, I would have probably gotten a more favorable response if I just took pictures of the case on the dummy unit.
I've been holding off buying the S III for some time in hopes of something better, but nothing has come along so I finally bit the bullet. I bought a new white one off ebay for $450, which is on the cheaper side. It came with a rather deep scratch on the bottom right on the chrome, but frankly its hard to notice and the rest of the phone seems to work fine. Wanted to ask a few questions and make a few comments.
1. Screen is the best AMOLED screen period. The lack of reflection and infinite viewing angles puts it head and shoulders above all phone IPS screens I've used. Also on a completely different level to the beta AMOLED screens Samsung was churning out. None of the pixelation, dithering, artifacts, lines, blotches, and crap from the S II or the Note. It doesn't turn to crap when I dim the screen, and looks very nice and even like that. The saturation has been toned down as well and looks better. However, I wish the greens were not so BLUE and the skin tones were less ghastly red/yellow/orange.
2. My volume keys are firm and clicky, but my power button is kind of loose. Will it deteriorate over time?
3. The battery cover is still a horrible design. My left side snaps into place completely, but there is a gap that you can put a fingernail and also feel the seam and slight hump since its not flush. This is normal for Samsung right? My Note also had a battery cover problem. It would ot snap in, and I had to jam it in at a very sharp angle and bend the cover back heavily. At least that was flush. This one is not. Also noticed looseness on the top corners with the S3, especially when you move the phone around or hold it in landscape and either push the corners a bit or hold onto them. I think this is endemic to the S3 since all the display phones at my local store had the same problem, along with the entire cover being taped up since they were coming off of course.
4. The home button is hard to press. I also noticed this on the demo models. Why couldn't it be more like the iPhone's button? The amount of force required to push it, its location at the very end of the phone, and the lightweight nature of the phone means I have to hold the phone firmly down or the entire thing just might bounce out of my hand. I usually have to hold the bottom underneath the button and pinch down with my thumb. That's not very satisfying either, since I am also pushing up into a looser part of the back cover and it flexes a bit, especially since there's that hole where the microUSB plugs into. I try to avoid using the home button and use back all the way if possible.
5. The phone is fast, but not blazingly fast or smooth. It's better than my old One X. Still far from the smoothness of a Windows Phone device. Hopefully Jelly Bean will help a lot.
6. They need to disable the capacitive keys during camera mode. I always end up pushing one or both of them and exiting the camera or getting edit popups. Same problem I had on the Note.
7. Phone looks and feels a million times better without the rim sticking out above the glass surface. It's more prone to damage, but I'll take the look and unimpeded finger swiips any day.
8. The Note had a much much better speaker. The S3 sounds like an S2 without the back cover helping muffle it.

1. There is a setting in display settings to adj screen tone. See if that helps.
2. Some have reported this, but mine is fine. Not loose at all.
3. The battery cover while flimsy i agree, should snap on with ease. No raised or humped section, no gap for a fingernail... almost sounds like yours took a nasty fall or other impact... it should fit just fine with no blemishes.
4. Home isnt hard to push. Agree though that it couldve been implemented much better.
5. Imho, this thing screams. Never had any problems with lag or not being smooth and speedy. Top of the line if you ask me.
8. Speakers fine for me, for what it is. I never expect the external speaker to be super high quality.

On the screen issue, have you gone out to broad daylight and trying to see the screen? Its tough. I still prefer IPS screens.
The home button is hard to press. Being accustomed to only capacitive buttons, the home button is tough to press. Even more so with my ballistics case.
The back is plastics but it gets the job done
The power button is sturdy and fine on my end
I agree with the camera button.
I also got mine from eBay about a month ago for 469 and although it was used, it was kept and very good condition. All I have is a small line on the gray part of the phone by the volume button that only extends about 2 mm. Sometimes I forget its there. The screen is my biggest letdown. Coming from 2 LG devices, the IPS screen is the best screens in my opinion. Natural colors, awesome brightness. This one is good I enjoy it but its not great.

I played with an Optimus G in-store, basically a Nexus 4. Did not like it AT ALL. The glass was icky. Was not impressed by the display. It was washed out looking. This is in comparison to the One X and iPhone, not just AMOLED.
IPS is better outdoors and at max brightness. However, indoors at low brightness the contrast looks way better on the AMOLED screen of the GS3.
Oh man the 5" HTC Droid DNA is coming out. If it can be unlocked for GSM networks, I'm itching the jump again...haha I had the Note two months ago too.
I'm getting buyers remorse from the build quality. Just holding or moving the phone around and taking it out of my pocket, there's always a creak or a flex from the loose back cover. The phone is kinda slippery and clammy, not much to hold on to, and the jiggly power button. I said I would never buy another Samsung phone because of build, but here I am again...a sucker for the screen!
3. My battery cover is perfectly flush. I have pulled it off to change sd cards and once when initially rooting.. I simply put it in place and smoothly press the edges while moving around the whole phone.. all click in, flush
5. check to see if Power saving mode is on, and if cpu saving is on in power saving ... if it is, chances are your phone is only hitting 1GHz
when power saving is off (via the handy toggle in the notification shade dropdown), phone is allowed to hit full 1.5 GHz
another reason for some speed loss is the samsung touchwiz environment.. beautiful, but a bit heavy
jellybean from a google/nexus base IS faster, but mainly cuz it is more bare
cheers!

The Nextbit Robin feels light for its size, but is solidly built. It uses a smooth plastic all around, so it can be slippery if you have dry hands. A soft touch rubber coating, seen on phones like the Nexus 5, would have been an improvement. The raised volume buttons are clicky, responsive, and snug. The power button, which also houses the fingerprint sensor, is clicky and is flush with the body.
never thought about how much this would capture fingerprints on the back.. i have cleaned with alcohol wipes daily.
It's too slippery, and mine has a weird bump on the back.
My girl friend and I were backers of the phone through kickstarter.
We just received the devices a week or so ago and take good care of our electronics. We had them in tempered screen protectors and cases since unboxing and with a little over a week the colored portions of the device are deteriorating at an astonishing rate.
My electric has got what seems to be a scratch on the top portion, and my girlfriend's is starting to discolor (while in the bumps case) around the edges and has a random dent on the top.
Incredibly non-durable and disappointing to say the least.

Mine has unfortunately started to peel slightly around the camera and the speaker and a very strange crack has appeared beside the power button.
I don't know what else to say besides it feel really amazing in the hand and very high-quality and premium.
Mixed Reviews
So the Robin feels great, the phone fit perfect in my hand and the texture of the plastic used does feel pretty good. Its lightweight but still pretty solid for the material. Now as for the actual design of the product, paired with the processor and the fact that it seems to get pretty warm pretty quick, I have had some bad luck with the phone. I had the phone for about 4-5 days and used it relatively lightly, with the exception of streaming videos and your basic games. I noticed the phone would get really warm really quick. Upon flipping the phone over to check the back I noticed what seemed to be a scratch, which was odd as I have not taken the phone out of a case or even put it in my pocket with anything before a case was on it. So a couple more days went by and I noticed more "scratches". Now this seemed very weird. Upon looking into it further I noticed a bulge in the lower central part of the phone and the "scratches" were appearing bbetween the cloud logo, where the phone reached its hottest, and the bulge. So I reached out to Nextbit and they advised I get a replacement sent, which I did, however I noticed upon receiving the replacement there seems to be the same odd bulge in the same location as my previous phone. The stress marks kept growing on the old phone, and now it has me worried that the new replacement will be doing the same thing. I have attached some pictures of the stress marks on the phone before I sent it back to have it for documentation.
It's sad as I really enjoy the snappiness of the phone and the design of both the hardware and OS however I just think the phone could have been tested a bit more before being put out to production. Overall its a pretty solid phone and for the price point on amazon ($299) is a plus.
Hey friends,
I'm holding an HTC 10 in my hands right now after I had the s7e briefly for a couple of days a month ago I decided to take it back and wait for the HTC 10.
Finally I got mine 4 days ago and I have mixed feelings about it. Obviously the s7 edge is better in the display, battery and camera department. The main reason why I returned the s7e is the stupid edged screen which I found irritating to handle and I didn't like how the display curves around the edges and cuts of text in some apps. The bending of light around the edges also irritated me.
The HTC 10 is one great device and I love the decide in general except for a few minor points. The camera is not as quick.
Still I find myself somehow tempted to switch back to the s7e but I am afraid I'll regret it again... Ohhhh ocd.
Maybe you can give me some good reasons why you chose the HTC over the s7e?
Thanks!

To me
-HTC is better screen, but thats a preference in what you like.
-S7Edge screen can be fix with a case, I got the Ringke fusion clear case and I dont hit buttons inadvertently when I type anymore.
-The edge can be turn off.
-If you dont like the edge, get the regular S7 with exynos processor.
The only reason that people may tell you to get the HTC 10 is because they think touchwiz is still slow. Boomsound speaker is another reason to switch however, you can get dual facing speaker with the S7 edge just look at my video I posted a few days ago.
Ultimately this is what it come down to:
HTC 10
HTC blink feed
Metal
Boomsound speaker
Samsung
All glass design
enormous S7 edge battery
IP68 water proof
dual speaker (only on exynos phone)
The screen is up for grabs but if you like amoled then Samsung is the way for you.
I'm hoping BestBuy gets some unlocked HTC 10s in soon or I'll have to grab a Galaxy.
The number one reason I want an HTC 10 over a GS7 is build quality. The all glass construction of the GS7 is a disaster waiting to happen.
I've read far to many horror stories, not to mention all the drop videos, showing what happens when they hit the ground, even carpet.
I'm kind of in the same boat. I actually have both the S7 and the HTC 10 on my desk right now. There are a lot of things that I like about each one, but I'm torn between which to keep.
S7 Pros
- 5x5 app grid
- Volume and power buttons on the opposite sides of the phone
- Headphone jack at the bottom
- Quick settings accessible with one swipe
- FM radio
HTC 10 Pros
- Faster fingerprint reader
- "Capacitive" home button
- Cleaner Sense interface
- BoomSound
- Finally good camera
I like that the S7 is a little smaller and easier to manage with one hand, and Touchwiz seems to be a lot more refined. I think that HTC actually pared Sense back a little too much with the 10. There's not a lot of Sense left, but they kept the 4x4 app grid, which I really can't stand. On a 5.2" screen, it's really a total waste of space, and from what I can tell, the only way to fix that is to install a custom ROM, which I don't want to do until I'm sure I want to keep it. I'm also struggling because I feel like my S7 may have a defective display. The whites are kind of off and whenever I angle the phone slightly off center, the display gets a blue tint to it. I've never had an AMOLED display before, so I don't know if this is just how they are, or I have a bad one.
Any advice?

thats what a case is for. are you going to carry your HTC naked?
I drop my S7E once or twice about 4-5ft with a ringke fusion clear case and no damage at all.
I always use a case.
Just stating what I've learned from some research. There is also a topic in the GS7 forum concerning the camera glass cracking out of nowhere.
Regardless, I don't want to spend $700 on a device and worry about the entire phone shattering. Worrying about the screen on phones is enough.

if you use a case then how is it gonna crack?
thats like saying regardless if you have a case on the HTC 10 or not its gonna dent or scratch if you drop it. doesnt make sense.
A case will protect metal from scratching/denting much better than it will against glass breaking. Glass is far more fragile.
Last winter I slipped with my phone in my hand. My phone slammed into the ground and the case slipped off one corner. It left a scuff mark on my phone. The GS7 would have shattered. Case or not, it's simply more fragile due to its build material.
I'm not calling it a bad device, just a fragile one, like the all glass IPhone before it.
Updates are important to me. Camera is second but it's okay. The HTC camera isn't very good IMO. And when I say "isn't good" I mean not a convenient camera. It takes great shots and what not but there's no oleophobic coating on the lens so smudges affect the image more. It's just unreliable for me for the auto photographer like me.
Battery could be better but for me it could be an app draining it.

the problem lies in that you have a crappy case, not that the glass breaks and you have a case.
yes its fragile material, but if you have a case I dont see how it will break. that being said, I always own the Ringke fusion minimal clear case, drop my phone (S6, note 5 and S7 edge) several time, nothing happen. granted the HTC 10 wont shatter but it'll leave a dent or it'll scratch and it'll be a sore eye regardless.

Super smooth feel...everything is rounded and nice. But, it gets dirty fast! So bring a cloth or get a skin/case.
Great feel, great size, smooth and a serious cool visual with the 15 layers of glass on the back.
1) Love the design, looks like an iphone!
2) Love the finger print sensor is on the back
3) The plastic on the back makes it lighter weight.
4) I do not like the power button(s) idea. There should be only one on the back like the LG.

Im not used to big phones (5 inch feels big for me). For me it Is rather uncomfortable to use in one hand.
I just got it. Maybe I just don't know how to hold it properly. I let the bottom rest on my pinky finger, just like I used to do with my much smaller older phones galaxy ace 2 and Sony Xperia Ray. It gets quite heavy after a while holding like this.
Been playing with my unlocked US white one since I bought it last night. Fantastic design, feel and fluid and fast UI. I'd say it's more responsive than my s7 I sold. Very slippery though. Awaiting my case and glass screen protector.
Only thing I really miss is ambient display. Cm roms would be nice but I'm sure in time it will happen.

Just to warn you, the back can be scratched easily, so make sure to put the case all the time
The fingerprintscanner on the back is a big plus for me, the fact that it doubles as a button and even swipepad (new word??) makes the back the perfect place for the scanner. The phone fits in my hand easily (even with a case) so the size is no problem for me.
I'm using a rubberized case because of the glass but it does feel great if you're brave enough. Ergonomically the scanner on the back works well. I've fairly large hands and I can just about reach the top left corner with one hand but that's the price to pay for having a big screen I guess. I've already adjusted to button placement and only had it a few days so all in all - I'm happy!
I have matte screen protectors on both sides, and it feels completely different now. Still slippery a bit, but MUCH better.
easy to hold and use so i wont drop
Fingerprint magnet yet so comfortable in hand
