So I give videos an 8 out of 10.
The EIS works brilliantly. Very steady recording. The 60 fps 1080p is uber smooth.
Just very disappointed how the camera app doesn't give a simple frame rate switching button to toggle through all the FPS options instead of requiring you to back out into the settings of the app to switch resolution and then return to change FPS. VERY FRUSTRATING.
Sent from my Pixel using XDA-Developers mobile app
Video quality is absolutely perfect. I have an SGS7, iPhone 7, and this. Even though this doesn't have ois it still beats the s7 and iphone hands down. The slow motion is 100% seamless.
Sometimes when I take a video it will be grainy. I think it has to do with the lighting but I shot a video for YouTube a couple days ago and it was pretty bad. Kind of want to reshoot it but I am also pretty lazy.

Videos are a bit...meh. The lack of 60 fps and "manual video" in general is, frankly, sad. The turnaround was using v10's camera app ported to the G4 (but works on G5) : 60 fps FullHd (but no OIS and no wide lens atm)
I recorded some waterfalls and other natural objects and I was very much impressed with it. It is the best video I have seen recorded on a cell phone. The live action of my boys baseball games is equally impressive. Maybe my eyes aren't that sensitive.

Wow....
All my respect for this company and for its phones. G5 IS THE BEST
I do love the quality of the video and really enjoy the time-lapse feature!
I recorded some videos from cars competition using different modes (4K, wide camera, HD with slow motion)
Slow motion.
4k
Wide camera
You can see all videos on my youtube channel
Can someone help me on how to use the timelapse videos ? I tried with the timelapse button but nothing change when watching the video.
I fell in love with the time lapse mode...

You can do manual video using the V10 apk camera app for non rooted
The photos this beast takes are superb but videos are kinda "meh" but I think it's because of that "steady" feature as it kinda "warps" the video so just OIS is better if you have steady hands. Also thank god for V10 Camera Apk for 1080p 60 FPS video recording...60 fps is sooo beautiful!

While i was driving i saw the mount shaking too much and i thought the result video was going to be really shaky....i couldn't be more wrong OIS did a great job and the video turned out perfect
I'm so glad to see this post and find out about the v10 camera port

I definitely agree with you. OIS is really doing a great job on this device. :good:

Just wondering why 4k looks so much better than 1080p, even when watched on a 1080p screen.
Almost as if they deliberately made video less than 4k look crap.
I wish the audio quality was better. I found out that axon records audio at 96 kbps which is lower than other phones. I wish I can increase the bitrate for audio.

It has something to do with bitrate. LinusTechTips made a video about this but im not near a computer.
These clips should not be listed as "raw". They should called ungraded or unedited. Too much confusion with RAW.
While the video itself it really nice, and the audio is great in regular settings.... In LOUD settings, such as a full, live band, you get a terrible mic clipping noise.
Here's an example
Video of loud fireworks in Valencia:
I have to set anti-banding to 50Hz (not to auto or 60Hz), there are a lot flickering.
I took a video of starting and running my car after doing a lot of work to it and having it off the road for many weeks. I was very surprised at how well the mics picked up sound. As I moved around the front of the car, many different noises were easily identifiable and extremely clear. I shot it on the snap camera hd app instead of the stock camera.

Here's a short vid I took today. Cold start cycle on the car. The phone handles quite a lot of loudness pretty well.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0ZRt3fzsOM
I was messing around with the Axon 7 this afternoon. Fitted a phone mount at the top of my front windscreen in the car and took some footage whilst driving with the windows fully open. In all previous phones this resulted in really bad audio with wind noise and vibrations destroying what I would want to hear.
Pleased to say, the recorded audio with the A7 is shockingly good! It's loud and clear with great dynamic range and doesn't pull back with a sudden loud noise. Very real. Will install a crashcam app to see how that looks and sounds, although I have a fairly good dual camera crash cam installed already.
ZTE have implemented audio recording with the DAC very well but the mics must be better than average too.

Wish it had OIS. Video is a little shaky, esp at 60FPS.

Yeah, not to mention 4K.
But it performs great when it comes to photos.

I would give 8/10, but the lack of OIS and 4K makes it 7/10
decent not the best
Good, shaky at times
Quality is good at stills, but not so good at stabilization
The video quality of the Honor 8 is OK. It's not the best that is available on the market nor is it the worst that I have ever seen.
Great,
60 fps is shaky but the slow motion and 30 fps video is pretty darn good. Only wish it had 4k.
I really liked the slowmo feature. Me and my friends had a lot of fun with it,
not the best but decent enough
its good i would say
excellent video quality
Better than most phones with higher price.

Video is pretty decent. It has a problem with white balance in my house though. The videos often come out warmer than they should be.
Optical image stabilization works... but it also crops the the video to do it. This means when you go to film, your video will appear on your phone to be "zoomed in" so that you can stablized video.
Video is pretty good, I'm a person who likes to document with videos a lot and this certainly give me a home movie feeling style of video, but the good looking kind. Like if you were to look back at this footage in ten years, it would be home style video but with a little extra production value put in with it. I recommend for people that want to just record and go to have the settings on 1920x1080 60fps and call it a day, 60fps being so you don't have to worry about dropping frames cause 30 fps will do that sometimes sadly while recording.

Not really a fan of the 8K video quality especially at low (maxes out at 24fps) frame rates. What do you guys think?
It's.... fine. 24fps is cinema rate, so it's more intended to be used with a stabilized mount and slow panning, so that accounts for a lot of the jutter. Well, that, and YouTube's compression algorithms, but I won't hold that against the camera. 8K isn't likely to be really useful for a few years yet, so honestly I am fairly impressed the the quality is as good as it is when the camera is still.
Video capability is on par with iPhone 11, and blows Pixel out of the water. If you do a lot of video recording, this is currently the best Android device for that job.
I would say the video quality is quite good.

Well done ?
Does anyone know or has tried to record 4k 60fps continuously.
What I mean to ask is, if recording 4k 60 fps, is their any limit to the record time or can you keep doing so until you run out of space or battery.
I'am coming from an Sony Xperia devices, on their there is no limit apart from the memory card or battery.

Thanks for your reply, so I take it there isn't a time recording limit. What about 8k recording?
wide angle cam stabilization test
here's a sample footage to test stabilization of the wide angle camera on a very bumpy trail. i say stabilization is excellent.
