What mods can I do to this tablet? - G Pad 8.3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got this tablet for Christmas a few years ago and it came from Best Buy. Does that mean I have the v500? I think it only got one or two updates from LG and I basically gave it to my daughter so she could watch Netflix. It's been a while so I was wondering if anyone could give me a update of where this tablet is. Are there any decent Nouget roms that are worth installing. This tablet just seems slow and since my daughter uses it for the most part, I was thinking about wiping it and installing something other than the stock rom to see if that would improve performance.

The model of the tablet all bf in Settings / About / Hardware. There are three variants of the G Pad 8.3: VK810, V500 and V510. All other models of G Pads in these sections are something other than the G Pad 8.3.
I put my VK810 back on KitKat because Lollipop 5.0.x is to slow, they never offered 5.1 or 6.x for this variant. All variants are different.

Help me decide - GPE vs CM11

Hi guys,
I'm looking to getting an LG G Pad 8.3 but I need to know which one I should get. I'm currently debating the GPE edition or flashing the V500 to run CM11. I already have a S4 device with CM 10.2 and am very happy with it but after I upgraded to CM 11, I noticed problems with games such as plants vs zombies 2 which is an already a known issue.
Should I buy GPE or risk running CM 11? Does anyone know which version of the nightly has the least amount of issues on CM11?

Depends, i dont game at all on my G Pad so i have no issues there, if you do then you might not want to go with CM11 and go with the GPe, also depends on how much you have to pay, having seen some great deals on the regular G Pad it makes it tempting (if they are still available) and CM11 will only improve, it seems to be perfectly stable for everything else, but if you cannot get a deal on the regular G Pad and have to pay the same price and like stock then i would just go for the GPe, but the other thing to consider is as of right now the Rom community is all for the V500 non GPe edition, doesnt seem to be anything for the GPe.
TL : DR if you can get the regular cheap enough (i paid $259) id go with that and do the conversion to CM11 and wait on the updates, if its the same price id go with the GPe as im sure its more stock your looking for, 100% everything will work and you will get timely updates

I had the same dilemma. I decided on the V500. The choice is pretty simple. Do you plan on having the device for 18 months or more? If only 18 months, then consider the V510, if more, then consider the V500. With the V500, you already have the blessing of cyanogenmod, which has often kept updates for 3 years after a device's release. I'm pretty sure CM will also bless the v510, but you really never know...
Newegg also has the device on sale for $280.
Wow. Thank you guys for the feed backs. I really didn't think much about the device after 18 months as I normally just keep all my devices in good condition and replace it only if I can sell it or if it dies.
Is anyone running CM11? I need to know which build is currently the most stable out of the nightlies.

The V510 has a locked bootloader, so if it never get unlocked, after the 10 months, you're stuck with whatever OS is last released. What do you mean the V510 has a locked bootloader? As far as I know, the LG V510 (G Pad 8.3 GPE) is completely unlockable. Do you have information to the contrary?
I'm on the latest cm11 nightly, no problems here

I'll edit my post after replying. You're completely right! No one has taken the type to port a ROM to it yet. With time, I'm sure it'll get done. With time, I'm sure the V510 rom will get ported over to the V500.
The V500 is 280, then V510 is around 370 (i'm including tax). That's a 33% price difference...
Present benefits...
V500 more rom support
V510, better at having the latest OS for the next 18 months
In 3 months, I'm sure they'll both be the same, however.

LG G3 - Model Korea F400L

Can anyone let me know if there is a CyanogenMod rom for this particular model.
Also - is there a TWRP recovery install for the F400L
Chainfire has written that Google has made it much harder to root Android L (material), will there be any developer who will
work on this particular model once L is out.
Also i just read that Lg has already starter upgrading the L version in Poland as of these past 2 or 3 days, anyone has new info.
I am worried that for some reason the F400 will not receive any attention from now on, Is that correct.
I love the phone and the Sphynx rom is incredible but there is no comparison with the custom roms for this model compared to the Samsung Galaxy s4 (mind you the g3 is light years ahead from the s4)
any answer will be very appreciated, I am a 70 year old who is worried that his investment in the phone are going down the toilet, Is that so?

Android 6 for G Pad 8.3 GPE (V510)?

Hi
Does anyone know whether this will happen, or is CM13 our best bet?
Thanks.
It would be really nice of LG to give us 6.0 especially since the tablet is newer and more powerful than the 2013 Nexus 7, which has already gotten Marshmallow. That and LG is bragging about being the first OEM to push 6.0 to their G4, so how hard would a STOCK update be for our tablet?

Optimus G- Dead???

Hy guys,
I have some questions.
I love my LG Optimus G.
Switched from the LG Gpro back to the G because the G is much better.
But i thought there would come some more official updates.
If you look inside our G the specs are nearly the same like the new phones.
If you oc a bit and play with kernel.
The G is better then Gpro and OG2 for shure.
But where are the new firmwares?
Is no cool dev out there who can port a new G4 rom?
Is that not possible?
I treyd the new cm and aosp roms but they are not really stable for me.
It would be great if someone could make a LAST Super Cool LG Rom.
Maybe we could find some nice devs???

Note: As a long time lurker who never posts my response is not just to your post but to other lurkers who may be less knowledgeable.
What MasterFURQAN said! I appreciate LG's proprietary overlay for Jellybean and Kitkat as well but wanted my still quality hardware to have more current software.
The last LG based firmware which I used until about three weeks ago was Sling Kahroba. It is based on the last official LG version of Android for our device which was not released in America. I am not a developer or ROM porter but I imagine the significant hardware differences like much higher screen resolution, fingerprint reader, camera resolution, ROM size etc make porting from an essentially unrelated platform (CPU, GPU, Camera libs) too complicated.
You do not specify what Optimus G model you have but my American version (E970) is running fine with Nitrogen M 6.0.1 (Jan 25 build) with the E970 kernel flashed after. I am not much of a gamer and can't quote Antutu scores but it is stable and fully functional with one small camera related exception. The fine focus on print within a 18 inches or so is not quite there and I use another free camera app, not Google's, because it is more stable in video mode.
I skipped Lollipop and tried other Marshmallow ROMs in this forum but Nitrogen seems to work best for me now.
I used e975, nitrogen works fine for me too. I didn't find big issue with and this rom updated continuously. I am very happy that my old phone can have android 6.0. Even the new phone that I bought for my wife and daughter still in kitkat and lollipop..

Android Nougat?

Is there any chance that our beloved tablet will get a nougat build?
Exactly which tablet? Since there are three variants of the G Pad 8.3 itself, and at least a half dozen other models and variants covered in these sections.
If a newer model/variant of a very popular one like the V500, then probably eventually, but don't hold your breath for at least several months or more for a usable build, if a developer feels like taking it on for your device.
For stock LG Nougat, probably only for newer tablets, possibly the oldest the X8.3 like the VK815.
I seriously doubt if Verizon has dedicated any time to porting Nougat on the vk815. 23a is likely their final attempt to appease users and security updates.
