Are the bands on both the same or different. The Verizon Pixel XL seems to be lacking band 12. Can someone confirm?
They are the same....you can purchase a phone from google and it will still work with verizon and get all the benefits as you would with a vzw phone..
The verizon pixel xl does not have LTE Band 12 per Verizon's website. If I buy the Verizon version can I use it on ATT or Tmobile? Thanks
This is the link.https://www.verizonwireless.com/smartphones/google-pixel-xl/. No Band 12. So i was just curious has Verizon DISABLED BAND 12. If thats the case that is a HUGE TURNOFF.
It also seems there are MORE BANDS on the Google Pixel. The VZW pixel is missing bands 7, 12, 17, 25, 26, 29 30?
For a quick comparison VZW pixel https://www.verizonwireless.com/smartphones/google-pixel-xl/ Google pixel specs https://madeby.google.com/phone/specs/
Maybe VZW just isn't stating those bands are available.
They have a habit of Blocking Bands from My past experience. So I am just curious if they are doing it again.
The difference in bands between the google store version and the vzw version
Google store pixel lte bands: FDD LTE: B 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/17/20/25/26/28/29/30 TDD LTE 41
VZW pixel LTE BANDS 2,3,4,5,7, 13, 20,28 Missing BANDS 1,8, 12, 17, 25,26,29 and 30.

Per PC Mag's Review....
Our Pixel XL review unit is the one sold through Verizon, but it's technically unlocked and has no branding on its body. It supports GSM (850/900/1800/1900), CDMA (800/1900), HSDPA (850/1700(AWS)/1900/2100), and LTE bands (1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/17/20/25/26/28/29/30/41). That means you can use it on every major carrier in the US.

Well, As soon as I get my hands on my pixel XL (VZW purchased) I'll throw my test t-mobile sim in it. With that SIM in my older 6P it'll jump on Band 12 right away. My VZW note 7 will register with the TMO sim. But has no band 12, And barely hangs on to band 4 due to crappy tmo coverage at my house. But Band 12 is there. So it'll quickly tell us if the VZW variant has Band 12 disabled with the TMO sim.
Dont believe PC mag. They said verizon pixel bootloader was unlocked too. Another guy here said that on ATT the verizon Pixel is only getting H+.
Got my pixel XL. Threw my tmobile test sim in it. It does have Band 12 enabled. So I'd venture to say it has all the bands that the google sold version does.

So did you guys elaborate more on that? Any more info about supported bands?
I found a good priced unlocked XL on craigslist from VZW, but still not sure if it will fully work with T-Mobile and will have all the updates on time.
I bought mines from Verizon and paid it off outright. Works perfectly fine on T-Mobile, didn't even have to change the APN.
As for updates, I'm not sure. I had an update available when my Verizon sim was in but it disappeared after popping my TMO sim in.

So if I have the phone in hands and/or know serial number, is there a way to check what bands are supported?

Not sure. The only thing I can guarantee about the Verizon model is that it is fully compatible with T-Mobile's bands. Even WiFi calling works

Probably Verizon it's just talking about their bands on their site. They don't even mention bands 3 and 20 for roaming in Europe that very clearly the Verizon Pixel will support...
Verizon Employee here, I'm not aware of band 12 being disabled as it would be a first per the note 7 comment I know that people have taken it to Tmobile with no issues. Checked mine band 12 available.

Hi guys
I have an opportunity to buy a VERIZON NOTE 4 from USA,but since I'm from Europe I'm wondering if it will work with no problems in Europe (including 4G) and is it unlocked?
Thank you in advance
Where do you live in Europe?
my home country uses 1800 mhz for LTE and Verizon note does not have that.
However you should be be getting HSPA+ pretty much everywhere.
I live in MACEDONIA and I'm on ONE mobile carrier.

Yep same like Poland 1800mhz for LTE from what I am reading you will get HSPA+ but prob not LTE.
If it's not the development edition BL is not unlocked and Sim does not come unlocked normally, but it's possible it may have been unlocked.
I would say if it's not the Dev. Edition you are making a $700 gamble because as of now we don't even have root on retail version.

Retail edition is factory unlocked any sim will work, should be same with dev ed.
So WILL 4G LTE ,WORK HERE IN EUROPE OR NO? You are confusing me a bit.I really don't know what is that HSPA+ !!!
Or maybe I should buy T-Mobile NOTE 4?

No it wont also tmobile usa wont give you 4G.
Hspa+ is faster then 3G but slower then 4G LTE.
You will get edge and hspa+ and maybe 3G.

I just talked to my mobile operator ONE here in Macedonia and they confirmed that their 4G frequencies are BEND 3- 1800mhz mostly and only their base uses BEND 20-800mz.
They said that T MOBILEs NOTE 4 LTE 4G will be compatible with their frequencies.
Here are USA TMOBILE's NOTE 4 frequencies ,copied from their website:
International:
Quad Band GSM; LTE: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17; UMTS: Band I (2100), Band II (1900), Band IV (1700/2100), Band V (850)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
and the is from VERIZON's NOTE 4:
Network: LTE Band 13/4 (700/1700 MHz), CDMA/1xEVDO Rev. A (800/1900 MHz); Global Network: EDGE/GSM (850/900/1800/1900), HSPA/UMTS(850/900/1900/2100)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
SO IS "T-MOBILE'S NOTE 4" LTE/4G ,COMPATIBLE WITH 1800MHZ ON MY MACEDONIAN CARRIER, OR IT IS SAME AS VERIZONS NOTE 4 LTE/4G AND THEY ARE BOTH NOT COMPATIBLE HERE IN EUROPE????
Thank you again,but I'm confused
Thank you PATT2K for your reply, but T-MOBILE's NOTE 4 LTE supports BAND 3 which is 1800MHZ,and that the frequency that my carrier ONE uses here in Macedonia?Or that is not 4G????This is pic of the back cover for T-MOBILE's NOTE 4 that I found .Look at OTHER LTE frequencies....BAND 3-1800MHZ

It seems that you are right.I just received a message on Facebook from T-MOBILE saying that they DON'T SUPPORT LTE on BAND 3-1800MHZ ,so I guess It won't work here in Europe.
This is what they wrote to me:
"Thanks for reaching out! Our version of the Note 4 doesn't have band 3: https://support.t-mobile.com/community/phones-tablets-devices/android/samsung-galaxy-note-4 *SL"
It seems that it is the same whether I buy it from Verizon or Tmobile! But are you sure that at least Verizons NOTE 4 HSPA+ and 3G will work here in Macedonia?
My carrier is ONE and it works on GSM 900/1800mhz ...... 3G 1900/2100 and 4G 1800mhz !!!!!!!

T-Mobile changed their mind now...hahahaha.Now they sent me new mesage ,after I sent them pic with specs of their NOTE 4 ,saying they appologize and that their version supports BAND 3 1800MHZ.......hahaha

If you get a 4G LTE sim card, it should work, but you will not be able to fall back on Verizon's CDMA network.

Appreciate the quick response! You say I won't be able to fall back to Verizons CDMA (3G) network, but looking at the description of the phone it has all of Verizons CDMA capabilities.
Single-SIM;3G WCDMA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100;4G LTE 700 / 900 / 1800 (FDD 3, 8, 28)
Also, isn't it true that Verizon plans on moving to pure LTE?

WCDMA is NOT the same as CDMA.
It's confusing, but let me explain.
3G (or UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+) uses technology that is based on CDMA..but it's called Wideband CDMA (WCDMA)...whereas Sprint and Verizon just use "regular" CDMA.....so this phone WILL NOT WORK with Verizon CDMA.
So with active Sim can use the zenfone 2 on Verizon. But no service in 3g areas?

no, I bought one without thinking about compatability, put my SIM card in, it recognized the card but it would not find service. The device had a 'network finder' in settings and found ATT, but not VZ. I called up support to see if there was ANY way to make it work, no. The ZF2 will not work at all on Verizon. Had to ship it back... :crying:
ZenFone2 (ZE551ML) will work on GSM carrier's networks in North America. However, CDMA carriers such as Verizon and Sprint do not work with this device. The 2 major GSM carriers here in the USA are AT&T and T-Mobile. For more info please see our FAQ and Zenfone Quick Service support sites:

I don't have one of these handsets so I cannot confirm this will solve radio programming problems this device probably exhibits. The problem with affordable great phones is they hamper Verizon's other handsets and therefore threaten the business model. Sad times, but this is what has me waiting patiently for the market of blok phones to appear.

Man i really hate Verizon! However i live in the middle of nowhere and Verizon is the only service we can use. Verizon never gets any good phones or if it does it makes sure it pressures the manufacturer into locking them down.
It's not just about the phones being locked but CDMA and GSM using different hardware and software. Most of the LTE phones sold by Verizon and Sprint are unlocked however you still need correct hardware and software to make it work on GSM networks. To say nothing of the least of making sure you have the correct bands.
If you're wanting this phone because of its dual sim, you need to pass. This phone used subpar and outdated hardware on Sim 2 and is firmware blocked for data using only 2G for voice/text. 2G is already being shut down by AT&T in the states and T-Mobile is following. This "Flagship" dual sim phone is actually going to be a single sim phone for those of us in the states in about a year. I got suckered and am now looking for another phone. There are plenty of companies out there offering up to date hardware at the same price.
From what I can see, the GSM unlocked version doesn't support Band 17. Can anyone confirm?
If you are talking about the US version, the GSM unlocked version of Z (not play) supports LTE band 17. Z Play unlocked version most likely will be the same.
The listing on B&H does have band 2 and 4, but not 17. Might be an issue on AT&T.
If you really need that band, you might look at the Mexican version. It supports: 4G LTE (B1, B2, B3, B4-AWS, B5, B7, B8, B12, B17, B19, B20, B28, B38, B40, B41)
This makes no sense for the unlocked version of the phone to not support AT&T's primary band for LTE. But to sell the identical phone in mexico with that band supported.... Maybe an error on motorolora.com?
I placed an order and then realized at&t might not actually supported. I tried to cancel and they make it impossible to do so. We'll see what happens but I'd be shocked if its not. I only looked because I was curious about band 30.
I have the Moto G4 2016 XT1625 and Motorola website doesn't mention band 17 for this phone either, but according to Signal check lite app it shows I'm connected to B17. So I must be a typo on their part? Let us know when you get your phone if you get B17

1) signalcheck isn't entirely accurate. It uses a database to infer lte band (based on network tower sector ID and other stuff). It doesnt ask the phone modem for the actual info
2) att's 700mhz block b+c spectrum falls under both band 12 and 17 now(12 is a superset of 17). Att broadcasts on both band 12&17 on the network side via mfbi, att will push for band 12 on newer phones instead of 17(17 will be deprecated, but continue to be used network side to support legacy band 17-only phones)
Both Band 17 or 12 phones can connect to this spectrum (aka your g4 2016 works on att's 700mhz). Again, due to (1), signalcheck might have old data saying it's band 17 even though your phone is technically connecting to band 12.
3) moto z play doesn't have 12 or 17... So who knows?
Thank you for the explanation! Well I guess I won't be looking at Moto Z Play then.

Honestly though I only get 5 mbps on AT&T LTE where i live anyways so HSPA+ probably wont be much different in terms of speed. Data limits and local network server make me want to use wifi anyways.

Interesting... being on band 12 is OK. AT&T uses 17 (B,C) but 12 has A,B and C. I hope the numbers on their website are a mistake. I'm in the process of attempting to procure a mexican model but if this is true I can pick up the one off motorola.com

Hello
I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with the Global version the Mi Max 3. Did i make a mistake of purchasing a Freedom Mobile LTE incompatible phone? Or it should be asking myself whether this is really the Global Version?
Boot-loader seems locked, box in proper English with UK adapter, that makes me think its the Global version.
When i put my sim card in Data works, SMS works, but no phone calls in or out, even tho in the Network options Freedom is fully detected as the HOME network.
Any ideas?

No, I'm in Brazil and here are other operators. These are the bands that the unit has:
2G bands GSM 850/900/1800/1900 - SIM 1 & SIM 2

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news my friend but yes, you did just buy a phone incompatible with Freedom Mobile as I just did the same lol. Yes, messaging and data does work but you'll never get phone calls to work. I was wondering if it was worth sticking with Freedom anyways because of the deals but in the end I decided to switch over to Fido which works fine with the Mi Max 3. Also the version I have is def the Global Version (9.6.7.0) as I checked on the official website.

Haha yeah closure def makes things easier to handle. Tbh the phone is good enough that if you don't make a lot of phone calls it's still worth it but the problem for me is that in order to unlock your bootloader you need to get permission from Xiaomi. In order to get permission you need to have your device linked with your Mi Account. And in order to to that a confirmation text has to be sent (think Whatsapp). However, even tho you can send a text normally this automatic one fails to send on the Freedom network. So basically if you want to do any rooting whatsoever you'll need a SIM from somewhere like Rogers or Fido which ended up being the deciding factor for me aha.
If you have no plans on rooting then you should be fine :good:
Your phone should connect on LTE band 4 with Freedom Mobile. Mine connects flawlessly on LTE bands 4 and 7 with Telus.

Any hardware variations that matter among them? Or it is just a way of tracking where the phone came from?

No, actually there are different LTE bands available per region. The difference is less significative than, for instance, on 1+7, but they're still there (and the reason why I need to get the NA version, in my case).
Looking to buy the China version for 256GB, what bands would I be missing VS the USA 1905? Im using t-mobile usa

Don't do it... the Chinese variant is missing B66/AWS3 which is in use by all US carriers. Read my other post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80892995&postcount=8

So did having read that, if there is a 256GB EU version, get that as it has the B66, according to the Connectivity section: Bands (EU) FDD-LTE:B1,2,3,4,5,7,8,12,13,17,18,19,20,25,26,28,29,32,66
but I don't think they did
No 256gb variant that was released has band 66.

Appreciate this insight man!!
I'm in the US, NYC/NJ. I was super torn. I wanted to upgrade my op5. I wasn't a big fan of the pop up camera or the curved edges of the 7 Pro...plus I wanted a T.
The MacLaren edition is really nice, but...popup camera and like 400 more than the Chinese 7T. I couldn't justify it. So I took a chance and ordered the HD1900 Chinese version of the 7T with 265gb. So far, after about two weeks, it's excellent. I have no issues with not having a fast connection

No issues with not having a connection. Maybe it's because I'm in an area with good coverage (t-mobile). But so far, for $500 - HD1900 has been excellent.
I'm just waiting for twrp so I can root the thing.

You don't need TWRP to root it: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7t/how-to/guide-how-to-root-oneplus-7t-twrp-t3979307/page56

Got the 7T rooted...no problems. Not used to doing it without TWRP, but it all worked fine. Magisk, root all working flawlessly. For 500, the 256gb hd1900 has been excellent. I know it didn't have band 66 (or something) but in NYC and Quebec I haven't noticed any problems. I'm coming from an OP5 and mobile connectivity is at least as good with the OP7T HD1900.
For me, the decision came down to value. I wanted the 256gb, which ruled out the US OP7T. The OP7 Pro is nice and I came close to choosing it but I don't like the curved screen edges and I'm not a fan of the pop up camera. The notch doesn't bother me. So, no 7T pro either. The t-mobile McLaren edition was tempting...12gb ram, 5g. But at almost twice the price...not worth it. So far very happy with the hd1900 in the US with the 256gb.
Once I got it rooted, of course.
