Hi all,
I am currently running a little Wizard (MDA Vario on T-Mobile) however I'm due for an upgrade in a few weeks although I'm quite happy with my little MDA I really want something with a very good camera how does the Artemis 2MP camera perform?
Thanks!
Hi,
I love my artemis except the poor quality camera ithink this is no 2mp to compare with my SE W900i
cu
Well the image quality is a hell of alot better than the 1.3mp camera of my wizard. The image is too big to post but can send to you by email if you want.
If you want a good camera in your phone, then you better forget the P3300 or any other HTC phone. Take a look at some Sony Ericsson or Nokia phones.
Many thanks for the advice, I have been looking at the Nokia N93 and the N95 looks rather tasty but not sure if they will ever be available on T-Mobile.
If you could send a picture for me to compare that would be great as I have other pictures to put side by side.
Many thanks
MSN and Messenger [email protected]
The artemis camera is the best camera i have seen to date in a HTC device and its a lot better than the one on the Tytn, still because of the lack of autofocus you cannot compare it to a Sonyericsson or Nokia phone
@sammis can you poste a picture ?
may camere is realy bad quality noise over the hole picture

Here is a photo taken indoors in a very well lit hallway. There are 5 halogen lights above this photo. The camera in the artemis is the worst I have ever seen. I had a T-Mobile SDA previous to this and it's images were much better than this. I am returning my phone largely because the camera is so horrible.

Any other 3rd party camera software available? maybe this might improve the quality

Of course is a camera in a PDA not that good as an normal camera with an real focus, but if the light is good you really ca make quit ggod fotos. The question for me is allways: Do you whant an PDA or an digicam ??? This fotos are if you remeber only for sending MMS!!!!
pangloss - just take it back and stop bashing the handset, it is a multi functional PDA that costs nothing like the cost of a Camera, PDA, MP3 Player, and standalone phone
Hey All
Just picked up my new G3 (Yay!!) after Finally trading in my S5 and that Touchwiz .
As great as the camera is on the G3, for me.. it needs a few more controls.. so, can anyone advise on a camera or Photography app on the Play Store or a dlownload with a few Manual controls, such as:
Exposure, White Balance (WB), ISO, Metering (Centre Weighted, Spot, Matrix) and any other controls.. also a few filters would be nice.
I dont mind paying for the app.. as long as it works well with the G3s camera.
Many Thanks
A better camera is pretty good, that's what I'm using

Thanks for the reply.. I tried it, Nice app,.. Ill test it a bit more and report back. I do love the G3 and its camera and I can see why LG went for the minimalist approach, however, a very small critisism is that the camera tends to over-expose just a little sometimes, hence, why ide like an Exposure (EV) setting.
Any more suggestions are greatly appreciated
Thanks
You tried Xcam?

I need to have a few pictures under various conditions
I finished so I can take your pick.

I can tell you that the camera is good in the daylight but very poor for low light?
Oh yeah... The macro is terrible(read no macro) since the 05112015 update till today. Except from that the phone is very very very good. Especially if you have Eragon custom rom! But if the camera is no. 1 thing for you buy m2 or wowney...

Pretty much this.
Camera takes pretty OK pictures in good light, terrible pictures in low light and doesn't macro well.
If you are looking for a good and reliable camera, you should look elsewhere (and spend more, most likely).
Camera is decent for a China mobile phone.
Sometimes the edges are a bit blurry but it's okay.
And in my opinion low light pictures are decent as well.
I mean it's the same sensor as the one inside the Galaxy S4 but the software is not well adapted to the sensor with our P8000.
Look at THIS POST HERE
I have no issues with Macros at all. Not with the "workaround" and not without. :good:

The phone has quality problems. The camera is slow (focus lock) and failed while using apps like Whatsapp.
The operating system loader has bugs.
Im using Eragon and HTC camera app. I can beautiful pictures. But to focus takes a little long. I'm hoping Android marsmellow release from elephone brings some improvement. But I definitely recommend this phone but only if you use a custom ROM it's so much beter then the stock ROM

Hello mate,
Have you taken this from Elephone P8000? The pics are amazing. Which camera app and which rom and kernel. I won't get anything even close even if I jump from a building .
Can you please help us amateurs to calibrate settings to get such pics.
Thanks,
Good app i Snap Camera. You have options like in digital camera. I've use from copule of weeks and in my oppinion is much better than orginal stuff.
I think it's time to forget about DRM and stupid Sony image processing, bionz and other stupid s...t from Sony.
Just look at the differences:
1. Xzp Sony's sh... t camera
https://youtu.be/CZaWOCd9YjI
2. Ultracorder
https://youtu.be/4hann0Mt4uk
Same differences in 4k also.
Now tell me pls wtf is wrong with stupid Sony!

ok maybe it has improved light handeling but what about some features lilke super-slowmo, 60fps, intelligent steady shooting etc...
plus, it has more light, but it still has noise, the movement isnt as smooth the only good thing here is light sensitivity improved, but we need more demonstration and more features compared to see whats worth it, rooting to get the ultracoder or stay rooted with DRM... we need some hard convincing differences
plus, can you show us differences in photo quality as well?
If you install a camera app with locked BL or with drm fix, it will still use the sony noise reduction and image processing software. You need AOSP bypass that. So my question: what firmware was used?
Stock, 179 with locked bootloader. What the catch? The differences are huge. Could Sony enabled drm in 3rd part apps? I recently downgraded to nougat and also have compared camera stock nougat to stock 179 oreo and there is a huge difference in quality. Sony's AI has improved from nougat to oreo.

wait so youre saying you have managed to take videos with improved light performance while still locked and not rooted? how? care to share with us? also could you care to share picture comparison and video comparison under more enviroment settings? or simpley tell us how you did it so I can try for myself and see which is actually better in all cenarios.
Yes. Just install that app. Ultracorder... ?
It's easy to see if DRM is active in third-party apps. Test it on stock with locked bootloader and then test it on stock with unlocked bootloader without DRM fix.

downloaded 1.0.5 as 1.0.6 says "not supported in your country" dunno why XD
I do see a huge difference in terms of light plus the stock camera is way farrrrr zoomed in compared to the ultracorder, light is way better on ultracorder, but it doesnt have no working functions, no stabilization nothing at all, could be useful at night times but i dunno needs more testing
Edit:
I did a little video testing (in 4k mode in both cameras)
1) In low light conditions, yes the ultracorder does perform better.
2) In terms of heavy light conditions (day light, under the sun), the stock does appear to have better handling, but in low light it sucks bad.
Conclusion:
would I use the Ultracorder as my default video taking app?
No. Why? simpley because in heavy light it doesnt perform better than stock, even a little worse plus it doesnt have any useable function like the stabilization, or slowmo etc...
BUT, I would definitely use it under low light conditions as it seems to out-perform the stock by so many levels, plus its not zoomed in like the stock, and it makes low light videos look a lot better in terms of everything except the stabilization, but i would definitely make it my default go to when in low light conditions!
but in daylight I would prefer the stock, but great job on the lowlight by Ultracorder, definitely will be so useful in night condtions.

mcpro24fps is much better than any existing video solutions including...
dadadaaaam...
even filmic pro!!!
and costs laughable money.
I just saw this in a review, is this true?
I am personally shocked this is not supported.. That is one of the reasons I want the Ultra, so that is the shot I'm taking is in ideal conditions I can get a full 108 MP photo with amazing results.. Does anyone know if there going to allow in the future?
It's true just discovered this myself
There really is no 108mp. It is 12mp that should be better than other 12mp. I know this is not glitzy as 108mp but is real.
There is no 100x zoom either. There very good 4x zoom
If anything troubles me it is that pro mode does not support the wide camera nor the 4x camera. There is no way to take raw photos with either of those. I find the HEIC abysmal. I need to see if JPEG is any better.
The raw from the main camera looks pretty good though. Perhaps better than other phones. You get verygood 12mp DNG file. That is impressive and great. You can also get RAW from the front camera.
The 4x zoom if not opened at 100% even in heic looks good. Heic though produces some awful smudging of details and halo effects
Kind of defeats the purpose.
AND not having development due to a locked bootloader.
May have to (keep) the favor to iOS side.
Seriously.

This phone just came out. Give it some time dude
No Pro Mode Except for Standard Wide Angle
Pro Mode (raw format) is a must for me in both Ultrawide and Telephoto. Since this is a simple software fix, anyone hear if and when it will happen? Makes no sense that some beancounter in the system didn't allow full Pro Mode from the start!
Hey guys! Could you download this app called Camera2 Test from the play store? It reads all the features that all the cameras have implemented with the Camera 2 API. I'm curious if a 108mp RAW mode is there. You can go to the full tab in the app and share the file in here. Thanks in advance! (perferably from az exynos device, but both would be preferred!)
EDIT: There is another app Camera2 API Probe. Just need to scroll down, share, and it will generate a link. Sorry for the inconvenience!

I uploaded one raw and couple of post processing options. One is without corrections and the other (warmer one) is to my liking. I used Lightroom.

I am yet to do a bit more photography with the S20 ultra. Here is an album of photos I took from a walk before the quarantine in my country. I will put more photos in there as I get more experience with the phone when I go out after the quarantine.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/kirilk/albums/72157713487224503
It is very fitting to my expectations. I wanted a phone camera that has wide angle and optical magnification higher than 75mm equivalent, Between 100 mm to 135 mm equivalent was my dream. SO S20 ultra is exactly that 12mm wide angle (excellent, 105mm equivalent telephoto is excellent too. There is also the larger main 12MP sensor I like. Yes it can do 108MP with tons of mathematics and that would likely get you a bit more detail at the cost of dynamic range and noise.....
PS I would very much appreciate if Samsung give us RAW files form the telephoto and wide angle. I know wide angle has distortion and likely the telephoto suffers vignetting and or distortion too but Lightroom can fix those things. Samsung should add another camera app meant for photo enthusiasts.. RAW files with high bit depth and latitude for editing in post should be the emphasis there.

Thank you so much. If i understand correctly, the flickr photos are before the update, and the dropbox are after the update right?
All photos in the above post use the same software . I got one update immediately as I installed the phone.
G988BXXU1ATBM (there are two more version strings I guess for other hardware modifications) ,431,19MB in size containing the 1st of March security updates

Thank you for your efforts! I watched a video from India today. They got the ATC1/H update first. It looks very promising, take a look:
https://youtu.be/wZoWAben4CA
The old news about the ATC2 update from Korea are somewhat misleading since the update with the lower number brings improvements that where not to be seen in the ATC2 video from Korean user which we all have probably seen.
I just got an update to .......ATCH and can confirm AF works now pretty well including close up.
RAW from telephoto or wide angle is not available . Camera2 API does not see the telephoto camera.
So I guess AF is likely the only fix.
