stepped note 7 to my head during sleep. - Verizon Note 7 Questions & Answers

I love this device too much. I will not use my upgrade to downgrade. Device is too perfect. If it goes, so do I. I designed a special headband to hold the note 7 firmly against my forehead while I sleep so if it explodes we both leave together.

Love it! LMAO!

Very cool. If it does explode I will chip in $10 to make a headstone for you in the shape of a Note 7

This dude is probably serious.

Made a plexi glass dock!

Well, its still in rough shape, need to do some sanding etc... but here it is.
It uses two very small screws to charge through the pogo pin connection.
I wanted it originally to be entirely clear, but I messed up with some super glue and made it turn white, so I may paint it. Also thought about embedding an LED and etching a logo into the back to make it "glow"
Anyway, I'll get better pics with some progress soon hopefully

Very cool idea! Good way to easily be able to line up the charging contacts at the very least.
This is awesome! I know a lot of people are using different alternatives for the pogo plunger pins and was curious how yours were working? You said you are using small screws? Do you have any trouble with them scratching the actual pogo connections on the phone? That was my only concern for people that were using things like screws, guitar strings, and nails even.
I would like to see a close up of your contact pins. It does seem like each of us has come up with slightly different methods and materials (other sping pins, guitar string, contact prongs, copper tape, screws, tack pins...)
question : How fast does it charge? I'm scared it might be slower compared to the wall plug
Right now charging via the pogo pins is sensed as USB by the stock ROM and limited to 500 miliamps.
There is a kernel that can be flashed to force full AC charging mode.
We believe this is the issue holding up the aftermarket pogo accesories, as manufacturers dont want their product reputation hurt by charging not keeping up with power use on devices that are actually limited by the software.
Everyone is hoping that the next OTA update will have the fix....

I'll try and get a pic of the screws later tonight after work. I do have a scratch that I suspect is from them, however I'm sure something can easily be changed so that doesn't happen. Unfortunately I dropped my phone last week and chipped the screen, so I'm not worried about a scratch at this point.
If the sharpness of the screws is/was a problem I had planned to just grind them down and make them smooth and rounded, which I'm sure is still a very viable option.
As for the comment on speed, I guess that's already been pretty well answered. I was only going to add that I haven't paid attention, I've just been using this to charge my phone while I sleep.
I also plan to add an nfc tag or something to put the phone into the dock mode and set alarms or whatever.

Ummm...daddy like. Are you going to be selling those? If so, how much? I dont need it to have a charger. I just need something to hold up my device on my desk. While the gogostand I use is good, its just not android enough for me.
I would buy a dock with charging pins if you made one.

No really a fair comparison since I work for a plastic manufacturing company . I used a 400 watt laser to cut those parts out. I also have 3 & 5 axis CNC machines. I'm toying with the idea of casting a molded base but need to 3d scan my phone for the proper geometry.
Figured it was lasered or something similar. I only wish I had access to some equipment like that. Cordless dremel just doesn't quite do the job

Hook me up with one! I'd love to have something for my phone like that especially if you get the pins put into there. But if not then at the very least it can do double duty for my tab as well.
Pretty slick looking ideas. I've always thought of making a couple of those for my office, home, and bedside.
I also heard that they have a new kernel that forces Fast Charging regardless of the connection. I know right now I'm running Axi0m Hybrid and it has a status bar toggle for Fast Charge. I haven't tested it out though.

THIS. I was going to say the same thing. The Defender is a lifesaver. I dropped mine on the blacktop asphalt standing up out my car and couldn't even find a scratch or imperfection on the case, much less the phone.
I have a case but it ruins the feel of the phone for me. Normally I'm very careful with it I just happen to be an idiotic mistake cause I was preoccupied trying to not look like an idiot hahah.

I don't use a case because I think they detract from the design of the phone. I'm just very careful and I suppose I pay for insurance in case something crazy happens.
My old ASUS A8JS ($1500) took a similar spill off the roof of my car when I took a turn doing about 25Mph. I stopped in the middle of traffic (no one honked - must of been the look on my face) and collected my laptop and the battery (which was on the other side of road). My only hope at that time was that the HDD survived (hadn't done a backup in some time), but to my surprise everything still functioned pretty much perfectly (touchpad seemed a little off, but it sucked anyway). In the end it was pretty scratched up, but it always made for a good story to tell...
Your move Samsung.

Screen toughness

So I've had my note 2 for about 4 days. Paid full retail $700. First thing this morning I dropped it and boom goes my screen. My problem is. I was sitting and it only dropped about 2 feet. Onto a soft wood porch floor. By soft wood I mean it is and old porch and needs replaced. The wood is old and soft. also the phone landed on the back. I feel like any phone should be able to survive such a small drop. Not to mention we have the new ultra durable gorrilla glass 2. Right? Wrong. Samsung refuses to even consider helping me out. It is against policy they say because I dropped it. But I think a device like this should have been able to handle such a drop. If I dropped it from 5-6 feet or if I dropped it on concrete I would understand. I have had 2 vibrants. 2 galaxy s2. 2 galaxy s3. And now the note. Paid full retail for all of them because I use straighttalk. I would think being such a loyal customer would mean something. Guess I was wrong. They will fix it for me. For about $200 and I have to ship it to them then be without a phone until it is shipped back. Not cool samsung... not cool.

Did you pay via a credit card? My card (citi dividends) has a 90 day protection against loss, theft and accidental damage. Check if you card has the same, then see if you can send them the $200 bill and they should pay you that. Also, most credit cards add a year onto the warranty, so keep your reciept

Gorilla glass is hard, not durable. The hardness makes it scratch resistant, the tradeoff is it becomes brittle. Just like diamond, super hard but hit the right spot and its dust.
That said we all are owners of a super hi tech device that is NEVER MEANT TO BE DROPPED.
If it even survives 1 mishap, consider the gods smiling down on you.
Sucks but I think we expect too much.
Sent from a phone that's Note-worthy, via XDA Premium HD app.
I agree. Its not supposed to be indestructable. But also I expect it to withstand normal wear and tear. Like I said if it had been a drop from maybe 4 foot or higher, or a drop on concrete I would understand. Also like I previously said. I have bought every samsung phone since the vibrant. Actually 2. Of each me and my girl. And I paid full retail for all of them. They have all been registered with samsung. And I have never asked them for anything extra for free. But in this situation I believe the phone should have held up. And it didn't. Not even close, it was such a small drop and the entire screen is shattered. If you seen it you woukd think it was hit with a hammer. It still works,I just think my loyalty to them over the past few years could be rewarded with at least a slight break in the price. I'm all about samsung, I should be a salesman the way I try to push there products just because they are good products. And I feel they are looking at me like well look how much money he has dropped before with us. He'll just pay what it takes to fix his phone. And they are right. I just feel they could help me out.

I'm not stupid I know **** happens. My point is you dropped yours from 4 feet and got a small nic. I dropped mine from 2 feet and my screen is destroyed. The phone should have held up to such a light impact. This post is more to warn people of how fragile the phone is than anything. So there is no need to come in and tell me **** happens like I'm some idiot saying oh my god I didn't think a phone could break. I am aware of how much a device is suppoed to be able to handle. These screens should be able to handle what mine didn't. So again more than anything a warning for everyone else to be careful. There are not as durable as they try to make you think.

You obviously are missing the point. This can happen with ANY phone. Your phone just fell the "right" way. It doesnt mean its anymore fragile. So yeah...**** happens.

Your phone must have taken the hit in the perfect spot to shatter. This past Sunday at church, some of the youth were looking at my note II while I was having a conversation with someone else. A couple of the middle school boys were fighting over it and my phone flung out of their hands, hit the wall behind me where we were sitting, and it slammed the ground about 3 to 4 feet down. The battery and cover popped off, but there was little damage. All I can see now is a barely noticeable, tiny crack on the battery case, which is replaceable. The screen is as pristine as ever though. Side lesson? Don't ever let your note II out of sight when it's in the hands of a middle school boy. Or you can be the grinch of the group and not let the boys see it at all (girls are ok though).

It's just bad business. I work in a customer oriented job, part of it is dealing with exchanges and whatnot, if you sell something and it breaks within a short amount of time regardless of the reason it's better to just replace it for them, on the grounds of good service and company image.
Had it been awhile then it'd be another story, but less then a week makes it look like you won't return or replace it cause you expect it to be a trend and have no faith in the product. And really there's money to be made there, charge a fee of some sort, replace the unit then fix the screen on the old one and sell it. Or just charge to replace the screen, that'd be the most fair offer to both and it'd make samsung look like it has good support for the customer.
Of course if he'd just bought insurance it'd be a moot point. 4.97/mo from tmobile, best thing to do by far

Running with the Note 2?

Has anyone had any experiences running/jogging with the Note 2? I was going to post this in the accessories forum, but wasn't just looking for a good arm band, but also some experiences and tips.
I have the Nike+ App and the Zombie running app that I really want to try, but can't see how carrying my Note 2 around is going to be suitable.
Thanks
I've never ran with a phone but I would have to guess running with the note 2 is a bad idea. I am fixing to start riding my bike soon and I am thinking it will not be such a good idea on handlebars either. Unless you have hulk hogan pythons. Lol.

I think it would be uncomfortable and tbh I wouldnt trust many straps to hold a heavy phone like the N2. For piece of mind I just got a cheap 20euro 6gb mp3 player. No display and no light but does the job. When im working it is the only time I dont want modern technology around me
I have run with the Note2 in my hand. No probs at all...
Waist pack and headphones. Nathan makes some good packs.

I run with the Note 2 in cycling Tshirt with rear spare places. I put it in rear pocket in a plastic bag (for the sweat) and it is all right !!

Thanks

i run every day with note 2 (use a water resistant/proof waist pack) ,
either use bluetooth headset and listen to music or
use headphones to listen to radio.
Size is no problem at all.!
i have tried app" zombi run",but after a few runs it gets boring !!!

sleeping with note 7 strapped to head

I love this device too much. I will not use my upgrade to downgrade. Device is too perfect. If it goes, so do I. I designed a special headband to hold the note 7 firmly against my forehead while I sleep so if it explodes we both leave together.
You should make more headband and sell them to xda members.

This is really nice!
Do you have any blueprints?
LMAO. Post of the month, maybe year! Too funny and good!
I wish it was a joke. Just took it off to type this. I had it fast charging and it got a little warm. It felt like my forhead had a slight fever but no explosion yet. My apartment is cold so tbh it warming up actually helps me sleep and I don't have to use so many blankets.
Neither of my Note 7's get hot, or really even very warm. They are the coolest running smartphones I have ever owned (I am talking temperatures). So they wouldn't help me much as far as keeping me warm.
