Running with the Note 2? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone had any experiences running/jogging with the Note 2? I was going to post this in the accessories forum, but wasn't just looking for a good arm band, but also some experiences and tips.
I have the Nike+ App and the Zombie running app that I really want to try, but can't see how carrying my Note 2 around is going to be suitable.
Thanks

I've never ran with a phone but I would have to guess running with the note 2 is a bad idea. I am fixing to start riding my bike soon and I am thinking it will not be such a good idea on handlebars either. Unless you have hulk hogan pythons. Lol.

Ive tried it with an armband and the weight of the phone means it just slides down or the velcro eventually comes undone. I use blue tooth headphones now and put the phone in a waist holder

I think it would be uncomfortable and tbh I wouldnt trust many straps to hold a heavy phone like the N2. For piece of mind I just got a cheap 20euro 6gb mp3 player. No display and no light but does the job. When im working it is the only time I dont want modern technology around me

I have run with the Note2 in my hand. No probs at all...

Waist pack and headphones. Nathan makes some good packs.

I run with the Note 2 in cycling Tshirt with rear spare places. I put it in rear pocket in a plastic bag (for the sweat) and it is all right !!

use headphones to listen to radio.
Size is no problem at all.!

I may consider this. I was gonna get moto's S10 but it's freakin' tiny for my big head.
How's the sound quality, do they compare to a wired headset?

off topic too but i just got a supertooth bluetooth speaker. its awesome as well!
Also i heard certain roms like CM7 have tweaks that will transmit better quality audio through BT anyone know if this is true?
i agree walking around talking on your bluetooth at the mall makes you look like a jackass but these are headphones and their main use is music not phone calls.
they look pretty nice thanks for the review.

I agree. Can't stand people that wear them all day and hardly ever use them.. How's your speaker? Do you have to scream into it?

it doesnt even have a mic for phone calls. it sounds great for music though really impressed.
I will have to give these a look. Any idea if they are sweatproof? That's my biggest problem with headphones and working out. I sweat a lot and they eventually short out. I didn't see anything obvious on the product page regarding this feature. I sent a product inquiry asking the company and will report back if anyone's interested.

Very much sweatproof, that's the idea behind these headphones. Lifetime warranty against sweat and malfunction.
oh i am really feeling these. i cant wear my huge Beats by Dr Dre everywhere so i might give this a go for when i hit the gym
Just picked up a pair from BestBuy since they have an exclusive on the things I was forced to pay the full retail of $99.99. I'm charging them up now but I'll be back with a full report back on how they do. I currently have a pair of Motorola S9-HD, I did have the S10-HD but they sounded worse then the S9 so I returned them.
So check back and I'll have that report after I return from the gym in about 2 hours.
Edit:
It took me a few minutes to set them up, pair with my Thunderbolt and find the correct earbud sleeve as well as adjust the cable that links them around my neck but they fit well and were easy to pair.
The Good:
They sound amazing... maybe not on par with a great set of plug in headphones like say the Beatz by Dre but head and shoulders above my Moto S9-HD that I use currently. They fit great even though I didn't really spend alot of time finding the perfect combo for my ears. They also felt comfortable as well, they give you 3 or the standard sleeves you get on the S9's and 3 additional sleeves they call GeckoGrip for a total of 6 sleeves. 2 small, 2 medium and 2 large. I only had them slip out maybe twice during my entire workout with stretching, running and weights all in my workout and I think that with a little fine tuning they won't slip at all. Volume is also very loud with a tiny bit of clipping at the highest volume but still well louder than I would ever need before the clipping occurs. The battery seems stout as I made it through an entire 2 hours plus between drive time, stretching/warmup, workout and I even tanned (yes I know.... I'm a guy and I tan. I suffer from S.A.D. and my dr suggested trying it rather than medication and it works for me) and that's with only maybe a half full battery.
The Bad:
Even though they are fairly easy to use I really don't like the multi use buttons all that much. The volume up/down combo for a track back/forward button depending on how they are pressed. That in itself isn't bad but they are fairly small which does make them a bit tricky to short press or long press while running. After a little more use I'm sure I'll have no issues with getting used to them but larger buttons would be a nice addition as there is plenty of room for it. For some the price might be an issue at $99.99 and only available through 1 source at present.
Conclusion:
I think that I'll be selling my S9's and these will be my new BT stereo workout headphones as they are by far the best that I have personally used. Small and light without feeling cheap. Clean, clear sound with great bass response and plenty of volume to drown out the noisiest of gyms. Easy to use with enough choices in sleeves to make a comfortable, secure fit for anyone.

[Q] Running with the Galaxy S II

So is there any good running equipment for the SGS2?
I was thinking of maybe an arm or leg attachement or maybe some kind of belt around the waist...?
I'm completely unfamiliar with what is out there but it should be something that is fixed so the phone won't bounce around whilst running fast...
Any suggestions? I've searched the forum but couldn't find any related threads...

This phone is not for jogging, at least thats my view... When I go running long distances (>15 km) I use a smaller/simple phone (with a prepaid card) which fits perfectly in a belt. It is only for emergencies..
Cost me about 30 euros and is much better than buying a armband. With my previous smaller android phone I used the Belkin armband which was always cutting into my arm when bending my arm.
Running with the i9100
I think its fine for running if you've got the right equipment, I use gps tracker with this armband, it fits well, but you do need fairly long upper arms to deal with it.
I'd say if you are 6ft or above and you will be fine with this on your arm, has reflective strip as well.
If you go to play and type in sports armband i9100 you should come up with the emartbuy soft velvet armband. (unable to post link as Im a new member)
£7.99 at time of posting.
Hope this helps.

Hows The Size

So I've been with the iPhone for a while and have a IP5, but messed with the Note 2 today at the mall and well I might try it out. The biggest issue is the over all size, coming from an iPhone its a joke what a dif the size is.
I had a GS3 a while back and liked it so I'm familiar with android, I just wanted to know how you feel about the size pocket friendly, jogging ect.
Can't beat the iPhone for this stuff but everything else its a pain.
Also can I just use a SIM adapter for my Micro SIM into the Note 2 and get LTE on ATT with it??
Thanks
The size is kind of awkward at first. But it starts to feel normal after a few hours of use.
I used to have a otterbox defender and it made the phone super huge. Couldnt get over that fact. So no im using a slim matte case and cant be any happier.
As for fitting in pants etc. depends how you dress. Could be fairly tight for the skinny jeans crew.
Overall im super happy. The phone looks beautiful naked, and the screen is very vibrant. I am also a EX-iPhone 5 user
No skinny jeans, just normal guy pants I guess and shorts for my workouts.
Might give it a go from Best Buy tomorrow, can return of needed.
Thx
My advice get bluetooth headphones and it wont bug ya at the gym!!

You also don't need a SIM adapter, the Galaxy Note 2 uses Micro SIM as well.
Iphone 5 uses a nano sim. Yes you need an adapter.
Also, think of the Note as a micro tablet rather than a massive phone.
Sent from my SGH-I317M using xda app-developers app
At first it seemed huge... but not as HUUUUGE as everyone had made it out to be. After you use it, you won't want to go back to the iPhone.... All my friends have GSIIIs and I can't use it... They're too small. lol. I have an Otterbox Commuter and it fits into the skinniest jeans I have. Levi Low Boot Cut 527. Fits well in all my basketball shorts etc.

I don't use this bad boy for anything I use my iPad for. I love considering it a massive phone

Thanks guys,
Yeah Nano SIM.
I'll get one today.
I don't normally feel it in my pockets at all unless I go to sit down and the phone is toward the front of my pocket. In that case, a quick adjustment back to the side and it's comfortable again. The phone does seem ridiculously huge at first, but it really only takes a couple of hours to get used to it.

The best arm band I have been able to find (sorry i dont remember the brand, i lost it a little while ago) was for an HTC phone, one that came out around the same time as the GS2. I found it fit the best when the phone was in its case (a TPU cover). I was able to use that one quite well for a time.
This is the one I bought and it's adjustable and very sturdy

I came here to post this same one. I have purchased a few, my wife is a marathon runner, and she has the old one as a backup. She recently misplaced the one in this link and had to use the back up one for almost a month. She very much missed the comfort of the band linked, compared to both backups we have. She says the armband in the one linked is softer and does not feel like its digging into her arm.
So thumbs up to the one posted here.

Man purse.

Since I've started using my tablet, it's become an integral part of my life. I find myself wanting to keep it attached to me somehow at all times which led me to consider looking for (for lack of a better word) a man purse for holding tablets.
Here are some I've come across that I like so far. What are your thoughts?

here is another one I just found. A reviewer said that it's not good for a tablet, but I'm wondering if it's because it wouldn't fit because it looks like it could hold the note 10.1 2014.

A surplus military map case will work well. I have an UZI branded map case that I got in the 80's. It is the perfect size for a tablet, has three compartments as well as space for pens and a few other things. It is a bit more manly than a murse.

I think a Filson Field Bag is probably as manly as you can get (my grandfather always used their gun cases) they come in great waterproof and wool materials, and are US made. Cost a bit, but then we have rather expensive tablets don't we.
