Smudges/fingerprints BEHIND Htc 10 panel - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Hello guys.
I have an HTC 10 sharp display, and it's great - no pink tints, etc.
However on grays I can notice what appears to be a lot of tiny smudges etc, resembling someone's fingertips or what not...
It would be amazing if I could dry them/clean them off somehow without sending it for repairs
Anyone ever heard of/seen something like this? Any ideas that might improve/eliminate the problem?
Thanks

Could u post a picture somehow?

I will try but I am not sure the camera will pick it up

The alterations between gray/dark that you see are not camera artifacts. They are the actual smudges...

Yes I can see it now. Unfortunately since those are grease smudges u can't remove them without removing the screen and cleaning it by hand...maybe someone else has a better solution

You reckon that if I sent it to htc they will be able to do so? Or would the entire screen need to be replaced?

I think u should go and ask them since that is completely their fault.. Whatever they decide u will be free of charge (I think they will just disasemble it and clean the screen and put it back together)

how to fix this if possible...

hey guys, the history goes like this... a guy is selling a desire at a really low price, is brand new but when you turn it on it jumps to the fastboot screen right away
sooo my question is... could it be a software issue? or maybe the volume keys are messed up?
here is a picuture of it ---> http://s357.photobucket.com/albums/...ire/?action=view&current=2010-09-11201019.jpg
i havent tested the phone myself, just seen pictures and talked to the owner....
I have a g1 and i have adb and fastboot working on my laptop so, could i root it from there flash a rom and maybe it will fix that? what do you guys think?? any ideas??
This is purely guesswork, but it could be water damaged.
Warranty? If not then buy yourself a can if campressed air and take the phine apart.. not that hard I did it!

the phone is brand new and it seemw like this guy has a bunch of desires, he says he received this one in a recent batch but this is the only one with a problem... so i dont think it could be water damage, maybe a really hard fall? or shake? cause it look perfect no scratches or scuffs or dents or nothing... weird uh?
I really want to buy it but i dont want to waste my money...
any other ideas? my main question is that if it can be fixed with root and a new rom... maybe?

[Q] used sandpapper, does i still have warranty?

hey. i used sandpaper on my desire so it turned sliver.
but today i doped it with the changer in and the place where you insert the cable is edit up. my question is if i still have my warranty after i used sandpaper?
thanks in advance!
Unbelievable! never heard anything like this before. you can probably say goodbye to the warranty.I hope you at least happy with the way it looks.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
your device is not in warranty...
what where you thinking while using sandpaper?
:S i don't know i was using sandpaper on the pink metal so it turned silver :S
Even if you didn't use the sandpaper, dropping the cellphone on the floor is not covered by warranty. Sandpapering it is just a bonus.
I don't want to be mean or anything, but if it's any consolation, you gave me a good laugh today.
EDIT : And yes, pictures or it DIDN'T happen.

I was thinking the same thing, mines on the right, they must have moved it on newer phones.
Edit: unless its the camera picking up infra red or something from the proximity sensor???

i went to the store i bought it. he said that the problem was my foult so he wont repair it. and he said that the void is broken. don't know why but. so i went home and open my desire, and i took out all the part and the i found out that the place where is broken is the cpu. so i need to buy a new ****ing motherboard thats cost 500$ http://www.htcrepairparts.com/motherboard-for-htc-desire-g7-p-3231.html
so i don't think im going to fix my desire
As you can still access recovery, do you still have a copy of the rom that you flashes on the SDcard? If so, perform a wipe and reflash the rom...
However, if you're still using the stock rom then you have a problem!
You have learned a valuable lesson in why doing a backup before tweaks is important...
I hope you can get it sorted.

i can't ruu flash it, and it have boot loop. and i did do a backup but i can't enter recovery, watch the film i posted
Is your sdcard damaged? Check it in your PC.
If the card is fine maybe the sim and sdcard chip popped out of the motherboard, take a look inside the phone and pop it back in. It is possible for it to come loose when dropped.
Are you using a2sd? Might cause bootloop if sdcard cannot be mounted.

[Q] How to send HTC One X to death?

Hello Guys,
don't ask why! I need a way to brick a HTC ONE X. It does not have to be permanently but at least enough that it can not be restored (besides by HTC themselves). Also it would be nice if it does not leave too obvious traces (so no physical damage).
I thought about a bootloader update (with unplugging the cable in the "wrong" second) but I am open to other suggestions.
I onloy know how to flash Samsung Galaxy Series, so please link to sources for needed software.
Thanks in advance

i saw one on youtube. they are working. surely it will make your one x into a brick (literally)
here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dk4adP2Pi-Q
You can disassemble the phone and using a piece of Aluminium foil or steel wool, connect all the solder connections randomly while the phone is ON until phone suffocates.
If your intentions is wasting the phone for fun then :
1- Look for the HTC logo on the back
2- Make a small "x" exactly 3 mm below the "T"
3- Through the "x" you marked, Drill using a fine 10mm drillbit until you can feel back of the screen
4- Continue drilling until you can see the drillbit on the other side of the phone.
I didnt see any moderators say anything but........ This is not an appropriate question to open post. Not trying to rain on your parade, Im all for getting new stuff. You dont want to get caught up in defrauding AT&T or HTC, google this you'll find alot about people getting caught. If you really need to get a new phone opps it fell in the pooper. Be carefull when asking stuff like this, you really should be asking someone you know via pm or email.

[Q]

hi i am having a problem with a HTC Droid incredible 2, the screen is blank , i can hear a message noise and when i adjust vol i can hear it get lower or louder, the buttons light up on the phone but that is it. I have searched everywhere and found no fix for this. wondering if anybody has any solution to this problem or what it is?
ribbon cable for the lcd might be damaged or the lcd itself might be dead. what happens when you pull the battery and reboot?
it plays sound and boots up but no screen, the button lights come on too no screen. would it be worth it to fix if it is a lcd strap?
nobody knows anything huh? suppose to be one of the best forums for this out there and still i get nothing...

That sounds exactly like the problem I had with my old Dinc 2, as well as a friend's.
What temporarily fixed it for me was chilling it. There is a connection that gets loose/damaged and this fixed it for a time.
Wrap it in hand towel (helps protect it from moisture) and put it in the freezer for 15 minutes. Pull it out and try turning it on.
If it works, you can backup what you need to and move on
If not, it only took 15 minutes out of your day... and maybe some feelings of silliness for sticking your phone in the fridge.

I think chillybean is right you need to replace the lcd screen too .
I got mine off eBay , if you look for inc2 parts you can find basically the front half of the phone ( LCD . digitizer, and the plastic surrounding) all you gotta do is disconnect the panels from the board and replace the screen . i think i paid 20$ for the replacement . its alot easier than trying to seperate the glass from the LCD and just replace one of em
Here's exactly what i got , took about an hour to replace

Touch not working 99% of the time

Hey!
This saturday, I noticed something wrong with mt HTC One X (stock rom). It didn't respond at all when I touched the screen, it was active though but the touch didn't seem to work anymore. After like 50 attempts with reboots and all, it worked, but the problem came back later, and again today. I did a factory reset to no avail, as the furthest I managed to get was the part of the first-time start-up where you select WiFi, so that's pretty much unlock + 1 click until it broke again.
Any idea on what's wrong and how to fix it? I'm guessing it's the digitizer, maybe it could be worth for me to open the phone up and see that it looks alright, if that's somewhat easy to do?
Thanks.
Edit: Oh, and when it works, it works for a few seconds usually until it hangs on a random press (keeps that pressed down).
Looks like a hardware failure, go back to the re-seller. You probably still have warranty.
And if you dont have warranty it's easier to replace the digitizer & screen in once. Separating the display from the digitizer is ..... how do i say it correct ...... CRAP

Guess I'll go to the re-seller then and have a chat with them, cause I'm not going to pay anything to fix it to be honest, I'm getting a new phone in 3-4 months so I hope I can survive with my old HTC until then! And if the re-seller isn't keen on doing anything, I'll talk to my insurance company, see if they'd agree to replace it with the HTC One perhaps, fingers crossed.
Okidoki, good luck mate !
