the 'charging optimization' feature in 32.2.A.0.305 has made my charging very slow. even on fast chargers.
I hope it's gonna help battery life in long run.... for now the device is not HEATING up like before while charging.

I found a better solution.
Night long charge: with 550 mAh (old Sony Ericsson)
Fast emergency charge: with the original QuickCharge 1.8 Ah.
I don't like those "optimizations" that automatically set the phone for you: I want to be in command

SONY Devices are class A product over all! Z5 is my 6th Xperia and i cant tell you how much i am loving it!
I've just had this update. Does it take away quickcharge then? I definitely can't deal with that as the battery is so poor anyway I'm always needing to charge

i am using .305 for a month now!
when i charge my z5p running on .305 using SONY ERICSSON charger of 2012 xperia devices , it take 2+ hrs from 0 to 100% , before it wasn't like that.
when i charge my z5p running on .305 using charge came with the box, it charges much faster (but not like before)
NOW the tricky part!
if i switch off device, then plug the charge in the
1. old SE charger charges faster
2. z5p charger charges even faster and device get heaty!
this means they never put optimization in the kernel itself! so any sony update on android part is only when the device is switched on!

Well since the kernel is initiated when the phone is turned on, I'm actually thinking the charging optimization is in either the kernel itself or the framework, or technically both. Would have to look at ROM source code or Baksmali the framework to know for sure though.
At any rate thank you for this info, very interesting! :good:

What are people using to charge their Ion in the car? I have a Motorola charger that plugs into the lighter socket. Will it hurt anything to use that? What specs should I be looking for in terms of voltage and amps? I don't see it on the Sony site or anywhere else for that matter. Thanks.
I'm interested in this as well. Currently used dual usb enercell from radio shack. It has been a while so I don't remember its specification. Althought I know it doesn't provide enough juice to charge while using Navigator.

As far I can tell there is no difference in voltage or amp, because there is a standard for microusb to have a certain level of power to go though that is universial

One of the reasons I ask is that on my Motorola phone they warned to only use theor charger (yeah I know) or it could damage the phone. When I checked the specs on that it was a little different from a generic charger. Also my phone ran real hot the first day I got it but I think that was due to importing all my settings from google for the Motorola phone and the Sony reacted badly to that. A factory reset and no google restore cured that behavior. I've since used the charger without issues so I think all is well in car charger land now.
I'm using same Motorola charger with no problem. Before I used cheap Chinese charger with Motorola atrix 4g and kill battery. So with new battery I bought this charger and no problem.

Yeah, I noticed the same Motorola charger advertised on another forum for this phone. So I guess the specs are good.

Well i ordered a dual usb with a higer amperage for faster charging, charges my Ion and my girls s2 pretty fast and i have even left mine in the truck over night to charge and no harm, remember higher amperage while charging can cause your battery to get pretty hot. be careful!
Hey guys,
Has anyone else noticed decreased performance of QC3.0?
I was sitting at home today and noticed the phone estimated 38 mins to get from 46% to full charge which seems a little longer than usual. I swear it used to be much quicker.
Thanks
I don't get your Problem?

It's always taken me 60 Minutes to go from 45% to 100%
It's slower once you hit ~80%, where it starts charging more around 5v 2A. Perhaps your cable is damaged? Otherwise the phone definitely slows down when it heats up, if you've been gaming on the phone prior to charging it will charge much slower.
You should learn how QC3.0 work first.
when the battery is low, the charger will give more input, but if not, will give a 'normal' input. cmiiw.
for me, sometimes my phone "charging" only, I have to re-plug cable to get "charging rapidly", make sure of that, wait for "quick charger connected" while screen on after seconds of connect cable, or make sure "charging rapidly" is showing "not charging only" while screen is locked.
Thanks for the replies guys.
Just to clear up, basically what I have noticed is that over the 4-5 months I have had my HTC 10 I feel there has been a change in the charging behaviour of my phone. It seems that the phone is taking longer and longer to go from 0% to 100% charge. I am aware of how QC works and that generally you get a nice spike up to 80-90% with the last 10% or so coming on much slower, however what I mean is that the actual total time from flat to full is taking longer - or so it appears.
Using all stock cables and adaptors over here - just curious if anyone has noticed the same thing.
Cheers
Install BatteryLog or batterywidget app and take a log to see how long it takes from 1% to 100%
I've had mine since launch day and I haven't really noticed a difference. I'm a heavy user, no gaming but lots of YouTube for podcasts and reading. I have used the same charger that came with it ever since, and I have a cheap QC 2.0 charger for my car, but I use my official cable for that as well.
My cable is starting to go bad, well, kinda. Sometimes it has a hard time initializating quick charge.
Thanks for the replies guys.
Here is a screenshot I have taken to illustrate what I am referring to.
I will install a battery logging app and report back.
Cheers.

Considering that it takes around 1:30h from zero to full, I think that this is normal? Is it not?
Custom kernels for older phones had a feature that limits battery capacity to ~80?. This dramatically extends the life of your battery, as that last 10?-20? of charging will wear a lithium ion battery down significantly.
See this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1743977
Im a heavy user, I intend on keeping my HTC 10 for a long time, and I'd like the battery to hold a decent charge 2 years from now.
But after trying a few, I haven't found a kernel/ROM for my HTC 10 that supports this feature...
TL;DR Does anyone know of an HTC 10 kernel that lets you limit the battery capacity?

Make a request to an existing kernel developer to add this as a feature to their kernel.

Aaaaannnndddd it does work on the HTC 10
But if you deactivate charging it STILL shows as the phone charging and STILL has 7V on the Charger, but it draws 0.001Ampere so it's not charging.
Btw:
echo 1000000 > /sys/class/power_supply/battery/constant_charge_current_max
Needs to be typed every time you connect a Charger.

I have a slightly better result on PCMark Work 2.0 Battery test. This is running on stock ROM
It's interesting, I do get a 5% to 100 in about an hour and 45 min. I do not use the stock charger brick but I do use the stock cord.
They say Dash Charging is so much better but QC3.0 lets us charge quicker...When screen is off. Not bad. Still charges plenty quick even during use.

My stock LeEco Charger gives me the time to fully charge from zero to be between 1:20 - 1:40.
It is as promised, roughly 1%/minute on fast charging 3.0 for a 4k mAH battery.

The last time I checked, it was around 2 hours to get to 100%.
Does it vary depending on the loads attached to the power source(extension cord)? There was a full desktop computer and monitor and maybe another charging phone when I charged and monitor the Le Pro 3.

I had a Nexus 5x and I agree for whatever reason the 808 seems like a slouch. I think 2015 was just a bad year overall for Qualcomm, the 810 overheated a lot and the 808 was a downgrade in performance from even the 805.
Storage performance is also very fast on Le Pro 3. I had done this benchmark when I first got mine:

Did it ever use fast charge before ? if so we eliminate kernel probability
which leave us with 2 things
smart charge value set by rom dev
or by you
if the phone reach that value : fast charge will stop and you will use normal charge
(it's usually around 70%)
disable smart charge if you find it in settings
