Do I need to uninstall ElementalX before flashing MIUI ROM? - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

If so, does flashing the full 3.2.7 zip restore it back to default?

you don't have to uninstall kernel cause rom.zip flashes boot.img included in it over previous kernel.
Yes flashing full rom zip of 327 will revert phone to default

{Q} So I flashed Baked Snacks....?

I flashed the rom, radio and wimax. I also pulled down a kernel. At what point do you flash the kernel? Or do I have to? A how to would be great.
Thanks!!!
A Kernel is included with the ROM, so you don't "need" to flash it. However if you want to flash a custom Kernel, you just flash the .zip file from recovery and reboot.

CWM EKO2 ROM help

Just flashed EG30 via Odin and Then I changed the EKO2...ZIp folder to "update.zip" and flashed. Now my base band and Build are now EKo2. My question now is how to install CWM, withour losing EK02. I would like to install Viper or Calkulin Rom's. Is it necessary to install these ROMS with CWM. Can I do it via Fastboot instead? Just change the Epic Venum ROM to "update.zip"?
Thanks
You can root and install CWM using this thread
[ROOT][NCIQ][EG30/EG31/EK02] Auto root your existing stock ROM (w/o ODIN/ROM Flash)
After installing CWM you should make a nandroid backup. The flash whatever ROM you want.
I would suggest you just run stock rooted for a day so you get a feel how stock EK02 performs before installing custom ROMs.

change custom rom?

Im using a custom rom and considering to change to a new one. Do I have to do anything special or just flash it like I did for the first time?
You should first back up your current one (search for nandroid back up) and then full wipe/factory reset before flashing your new ROM.
Not doing a full wipe before flashing a new ROM can (most of the times) cause LOTS of trouble. remember to flash the boot.img included in the ROM .zip file if you have S-ON (mostly you do) using cmd (fastboot flash boot boot.img) and then you can flash the ROM normally from recovery
If ROM doesn't work or you didn't like it you can always restore your previous ROM (which you backed up) from recovery but you have to flash that ROM's boot.img so it can boot
I hope I helped.. and sorry if my English is bad..

Flashing kernals.

So after exploring the many roms there are for this device. I went back to using stock rom to fix battery life. I flashed Flash Kernal.
Great kernal. but I'd like to ask you guys how do you go back to stock kernal if you wanna just flash it so I can try another kernal like ElementX
You gotta flash stock boot.img from whatever update your on. You'll either have to download it from Google factory images and find which update you have maybe May and then unzip it. You'll find the boot.img in there. You'll either have to fastboot flash it or an easier way before I flash kernels I like to make a TWRP backup with especially the boot partition. It's super easy. Then when I want to revert back after flashing and kernel I can go back into TWRP and reflash my stock boot

Question Is it safe to restore kernel backup with Franco Kernel Manager? (SOLVED)

This is probably a noob question, but is it safe to restore a kernal backup with a kernal manager/flasher? I'd assume most
would recommend a dirty flash, or restore dtbo partitions. Thank you!

Assuming you backed up the kernel on the same firmware/ROM version you're running now, should be fine. I've switched between stock kernel and custom kernel (and back) this way several times. I use EX KM instead of Franco, same thing though.

I backed it up stock kernal, and am still using stock Oxygen OS since my phone is my daily driver, and I need it to work. Can i just flash the Stock_Op9pro_30_boot.img and restore said partitions that way, since im still on A11? and if so do i need to wipe my dalvik cache, etc, and then flash boot.img, dtbo, and vendor_boot imgs to both slots?

I have not done it by flashing partitions, though I'd expect it to work. I've only flashed kernels (both custom .zips and backups) via kernel manager on A11. I don't see any reason why you'd need to flash the additional partitions unless the custom kernel (or other customizations you're using) made changes to any of those.

I see, well I was able to restore back to my stock kernel. I had made a backup prior with Franco Kernal Manager and was able to restore stock, and flashed to Arter Kernal. Thanks for the help!

If you go back to stock from arter kernel you will need to flash vendor_boot.img dbto.img and boot.img from the version you are currently on though.
