When I first got the phone it didn't take as long to charge but after the last update (or even the one before) it takes forever to charge, charging via mains is as slow as via usb. Anyone else experience this?
I have the EU variant running up to date firmware.

Yup, bought my device from an official retailer, sealed. Like I said it only started after a recent update.
Could be:
A. Broken charger or cable( LG accessories are famous for poor quality,at least in CN )
B. Background processes or services are eating your CPU,causing excessive heat and power consumption , again very common in CN
Update
Issue persists even in safe mode and when the device is off. However using my Amazon power bank (no fast charging) I get a good charging speed, I have checked with Ampere and this is what I get...
Charging with Amazon power bank: 1030mA
Charging with LG wallcharger: 450mA
Charging via USB: 230mA
All values are the maximum show (there was some fluctuation).
I have found that other people also experienced this issue in the past with the G4 but cannot find a solution, do you guys have any suggestions? I have only had the phone for <6 months
Same here this evening.
I had this issues before, but something like in distance of 2-3 months from now. The next day, usually, charges fast as ever...
Maybe is something software-related to retard battery degrading?
Most likely your cable is worn out, or did you use the same cable on the power bank?

I hope it is software related, many others have experienced similar issues (though the only posts I find are like a year old), my device is pretty much new.

No, my power bank comes with its own cable, I only use the supplied LG cable to charge the phone/media transfer.

Tried the other cable and guess what? It charged faster-as it is supposed to. I have just tried the LG cable again and it is slow, so the problem lies with the LG cable-which is annoying . Do you think I should contact LG tell ask for a new cable?

Id say go to the electronics dealer you trust and buy a new one, cables are prone to wear out.

Yeah I guess your right, the cable (and phone) are only a few months old so it is annoying, this is the first time such an issue has ever happened to me.

I have my g4 for more than a year now and the cable is still the best i have. If you buy a new one, be carefull to buy good quality one, cheap quality cables can bring severe problems like strange touchscreen behaviour while charging or low ampere due to unstable power (bad connectors).
Gesendet von meinem LG-H815 mit Tapatalk
i have faced the same problem and i found that cable was faulty even that was almost new. Service center simply replaced it and all is well.
Update 3
Ok here is some information that will boggle your minds...
So I decided to test the cable a bit, I used my brother's S7 Edge to charge the device and it charged fine! (using the LG cable/adapter). So the cable is fine??? I don't get it, other devices charge fine however the G4 charges abnormally... :silly:
I'm pretty sure this issue started after an update but it still doesn't make any sense!
Problem solved!
Edited: The issue remains, charging in different rooms of the house gives varying charge speeds, funny really.
Thank you for the info! Same happened to me couple of days ago... Was so worried it takes 1 hour to charge 20% probably same issue as yours... Will try another cable.

I never managed to fix it nor find out what caused it. I sent the device for repairs (under warranty) and all they did was send me a new battery, after which the problem still remained. So it could've only been an issue somewhere within the motherboard. I just used a fast charger after that.
Either way after hearing of the device not getting nougat (now apparently it will) I sold the device on and got a Xperia device which is running well. The G4 was a great phone for the first few months after which it just went downhill.

Hello everyone,
I've noticed a strange issue:
I've connected my device to my car charger and I've used Copilot 8 two times: one this morning going to work (25 minutes of trip) and another going home this evening (25 minutes again)
I've found that even if the device is connected to the charger, after 25 minutes of usage of Copilot, I've noticed a 4% of battery comsumption!!!
I've retried again this evening and I've noticed this again!
I remember perfectly that with other HTC Devices (Kayser and HD2), I've charged and used the device without battery consumption.
There is someone that noticed the same things?
Any suggestion, please?
I think it's not acceptable to have my Desire discarging during a (long) trip!
Sounds to me like your car charger isn't putting out enough power to keep the device charging whilst in use.
Yes, I hope this is the matter.
I've ordered another original HTC charger. I'll update this thread as soon as I receive it.
I'll try to enable GPS and make a simulated trip using the home charger.

Yep, seems the probable cause. I used to have same issue on another device used with a cheap low (500mAh) power on it.
The charger I'm using is original HTC charger for my old HD2.
I'll try with the new one.
Thanks to all of you for your help!

yeah i think ronnyuk already explained it couple weeks ago, strange but seems to be true unfortunately
I've had the same problem. I cant be bothered to find my own thread where I explained it, but if feel free to do so.
I had the same with my Xperia X1 using TomTom. I was using a cheap no-brand car charger from Maplin.
When I bought an official Sony Ericsson one, the speed of charging improved drastically.
As an aside, the cheap no-brand charger eventually ended up killing my mp3 player and making my phone stop working until I removed the battery for over 4 hours.
In 8 days from Expansys I'll receive the charger for my device. I hope to solve the issue.
As I wrote in another forum, another user had such an issue with an Acer Liquid, while I didn't using a commercial car charger I bought months ago for my iPhone (it's a "LoveMyPod brand, with two USB ports).
Didn't try it with Desire yet, but as Floating said, I suppose it's a matter of howe much power the charger is providing

Just goes to show that you really DO get what you pay for with cheap accessories.
Sure you might save a bit of money at first, but you're also risking harming your device in the process.

Too true. And of course, this happened whilst I was on an epic road trip of Europe, with the whole trip itinerary on the phone and ONLY on the phone!!
A lesson learnt (especially as the official SE charger in Italy cost me the equivalent of £30). Thankfully the mp3 player was just a cheapo thing but still, very annoying
Hello everybody.
Yesterday I've received the charger. This morning I've tried it and it works!!!
Thanks to all.
isn't the charger for the HD2 that you had original (CC C200 ) the same as the desire ???

Not for me. With HD2 I've received an HTC Charger with MiniUSB->MicroUSB adapter.
If I use this charger, I can't charge my Desire using the Navigation app.
With the charger I've received yesterday, I've charged the device during the usage of the nav app.
So, I've been using wireless charging on my VZW G4 since I got it (using the LG charging back). Working like a champ.
All of a sudden it stopped. Have rebooted the device (and charger) and replace the cover. No luck.
The charging pad shows it is charging, but the device it not charging.
Any ideas??
Quite possibly a manufacture defect. Warranty should solve your issue if you didn't consider it by now.

I'm very curious to see if your issue crops up again. Please update this thread if it does since it looks like this is a somewhat common issue for those of us who are actually using the wireless charging feature: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/tried-wireless-charging-t3227672
Do you recall how long you were able to use the wireless charging before it gave out?
Yep, the only other person I know that has one is getting his replaced for the same reason...
I have the same problems with Qi Wireless charging. I made a thread on this way back in July and still active.

hi friend when i charge my nexus 5x the screen sometimes become slow and not 100℅ responsive.but when i use my phone without charging the phone is normal and no issus.also when i charge my phone with a normal charger with 1.0 ampere the phone is good but it charge slowly.but when i charge with the original the screen phone is become slow and the screen is slow at the responsive..any one have this probleme?? iam at android 7.0
There is nothing wrong with your phone. The stock charger is putting out too much noise interfering with the touchscreen algorithms. If you ask nicely google/lg will send you a new charger. There are some big threads about it from many months ago. YMMV on the new charger.

No. I'm using a premium quality cable and a qualcomm certified quick charger. Also been using normal charging ports with the same effect.
Have also tried various (good quality) cables.
"a premium quality cable" isn't necessarily as "premium" as you think. I've had what you would call "premium" cables and they turned out to be complete crap.
The only way you'll find out is to use the proper USB cable and charger that came with the phone.

The phone is so old that the original cable had it a long time ago.
Ive had this phone long enough to know a bug when i see one. And this is that. Right now, the phone is turned off, and using the same cable it is fast charging. But no matter how many times i plug/replug it when its booted it will not fast charge! And this is since nougat. the same cable before was not a problem.
This takes me back to the same issue i had before the phone got marshmallow. Same issue, same circumstances. Rearing its ugly head again.
Edit: Ive also never had the original charger. The one that came with the phone didnt work, and when i called htc for a replacement they said it would be a month or so and it never arrived.
You must beat the s**t out of your cables. I've had my phone nearly 2 years and the charger and cable are still in mint condition..
I remember the bug very well as it used to happen even with the htc cable and charger.
What about powersaver mode, does it still do it with that activated?.
I'm quite sure that if it was a nougat issue then you'd have a lot more replies.
How did you update the device to nougat?. If the update wasn't done correctly it can cause allsorts of issues.
Beamed in by telepathy.
Your right. I do beat the **** out of them. They come to work with me, I'm a truck driver etc etc.
So maybe you could be right about how I updated. I have a EU version phone. I had swapped it over to Dev version to get nougat. And then because of locale issues, I swapped back to the EU version. Both times with a ruu.zip. But the second time without wiping data.
So maybe I will try a full reset and flash an ruu one day. But at the moment all else seems to be fine.
I'm not sure I am the only person experiencing this issue tho. If you look here https://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/general/strange-behavior-update-to-nougat-t3551367 this guy seems to be having charging issues too.
At this point I have no choice but to put it down to the way it has been handled.
Im not saying it HAS caused it but there is definitely a possibility.
Factory reset is in order I think. If it happens again after that, albeit a waste of time and effort, you'll have a better idea of the situation.

Without denying the possibility of a software cause, it could also be a hardware issue on your phone side too - my charging port got unseated (and damaged) from my ham-handedness. The great news for this phone is that it is fairly straightforward to repair, though there are great many of steps to follow. There are a couple of key points where you might damage your phone (notably the frame), but I have taken my phone apart several times without issue. Wracked my nerves doing it the first time, but after that you get a feel for how it's done. (....and it helps that purchasing a used M9 on Swappa isn't crazy expensive now that it's a couple years old)
Hi! So, I installed Pixel Experience ROM on my Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. Few days later, it got splashed a bit. "No big deal", I thought, since it's technically IP68 Water resistant. It worked normally until I wanted to charge it. It started charging but after 10 minutes it simply stopped. I tried a different cable, different adapter, restarted, used a hairdryer, cleaned the USB port, still nothing. 12 hours later, the battery drained to 0% and my phone died. I was unable to boot or charge it anymore. Any suggestions?

Well in my opinion you'll have to buy a new phone, because water damage aren't something that can be fixed without replacing parts of your smartphone.
You can always change the battery adaptater but I doubt you'll find any replacement piece.
So either you go to a repair store and see if they can to something, or you buy a new phone. (And obviously not a Nextbit Robin, since it's not sold anymore)
I can advice a good Pixel 3a or and Oneplus 7.
Or if your price range allows it A Oneplus 7 Pro

The thing is I don't think it's water damage. The phone connects to my PC without any problems. It's not charging, though. So, I flashed Stock ROM with Odin. I thought "Maybe there was a software bug or something", but apparently it wasn't. I am forced to use a very slow Wireless charger that charges my phone in about 5 hours without using it...
Unfortunately, I don't even have $100 to spend on a new phone, since I bought this S7 edge not even 6 months ago from eBay at a good deal of $170. I'll have to replace my charging port, apparently, and from the tutorials on YouTube seems it's a pain to replace it...

Yeah, I the problem is that low power action (like data transfer through USB) can work, but high power is unfortunately not working due to water (I think).
Anyway the charging port is still faulty and, yes it's a drag to change.
Good luck with that
