Not sure if this is dead pixels or what but just noticed it while watching videos on YouTube. Very disappointing. The only thing that keeps me tied to this phone is because its the best looking phone on the market. This phone is probably 2 weeks old and has never been dropped. I'm thinking of going iPhone 7 when i turn this in. But I'm going to wait and see what the pixel is about first
Trying to attach an image keeps saying low memory?
gonna have a dead screen when it blows up. return it and dead pixels are no longer a worry.

Hey,
I have had my device for one week, so under DSR working days I should still have time to return.
I have discovered a dead pixel at the top of the screen, which is always blue - I will try and get hold of tMobile tomorrow but wondering if anything else I can do or if It can be sorted.
The pixel appears blue on bright backgrounds, and is annoying - but i'm pissed because i got it last saturday, so its 7 days till now, may be on my own grrr - They state that the 7 days cooling of starts the day after the phone arrived, so its now 8 days so today is fine, however DSR states working days, minus weekend and good friday I should have a few more days - None the less hoping to get it replaced? Oh, forgot Easter Monday too :S
I've emailed tmobile and will try and phone them now, hopefully CS is still open.
Thanks
Also, I think it just developed or something, wasnt there before? - When screen is black, its not visible, when screne is red visible as a black spot, when screen is blue not visible, when screen is white visible as a blue spot - Ran that JScreenFix app twice both times for 20 minutes, no change :S

Sorry to hear that
JScreenFix is only for when the pixel is stuck not dead,
from your description the dead pixel is RED not BLUE.
I am just curious as to why you say PLEASE HELP!! it's not like we can help you. Just return it for warranty or replacement.
Its panic - and when one does it they become ignorant
Well, I've contacted TMobile, they have no HTC Desire stock so cant exchange it now, however I'll call back tomorrow and a note has been left incase I'm out of the 7 working day DSR period.
Spoke with a lady who hadnt the idea what a dead pixel was and said "in the meantime ask HTC if there is a solution"
Thanks
I have also discovered a dead pixel in the middle of the screen. Can't see it unless you really look for it. It is only visible on a white background and shows up as pink... lol
Will they exchange mine under warranty? I don't want to call them now, I will use it for a few more months and then exchange it for a new one.
Doesn't there have to be 3-4 'Dead' pixels before an item is deemed 'Faulty' and any returns is at the manufactures discression?

Basically - yes. It also depends how many and the type of defect within an area. If you have 2 at opposite ends of the display - this could be ok, however if they were close together - could be classed as a defect. Its basically up to HTC and what their criteria is.
I would have thought they would replace a dead pixel, even if it was only one. Let us know how you get on with your replacements.

No way in hell will they swap it for a new one if it's a few months old. Do it right away and they MIGHT, maybe.
T-mobile agreed to swop mine out 3 weeks ago but haven't replaced it yet due to lack of stock. Whilst I could chase them I'm not overly rushed as I still haven't received my screen protectors yet!

I have a red pixel.. what does that mean? I have had it for a long time but im not sure if its dead or stuck..? thanks in advance
dead pixel means that nothing is shown the pixel is only ever black... stuck pixel means that it only ever shows one colour...
that was the definitions i was last told anyways!!
You both have dead pixels. I think it highly improbable that they will ever become unstuck. Hehe.
If you can take it back then do so quickly because only a new screen will fix it.

If the pixel is red, or any other color except white or black, it probably is a stuck pixel. And I read the beginpost quickly, and if I remember well (it's pretty late here, sorry for any possible mistakes in my post), the pixel sometimes changed.
If that is the case, it is absolutely not dead. If an app which 'wakes up' the pixels doesn't work, I don't know what will. And last, I wonder if your provider or the manufacturer will repair this for free. I read somewhere that there have to be a certain amount of dead pixels before it is accepted for a free repair.
Hi. I have discovered two dead pixels on my screen: One in the middle and the other closer to an edge.
I am going to return the phone, but, before ordering a replacement, I would like to know if it's a common occurrence. Possibly, batch related?
Best way to check for a defective pixel is to:
Increase brightness to the max (uncheck auto brightness)
Download and install a free app called Dead Pixel Test by UJACHA from Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...GwsMSwxLDIxMiwibmV0LnVqYWNoYS5kZWFkcGl4ZWwiXQ..
Cycle through the colors and inspect the screen.
Warning: Dead pixels cannot be unseen
didn't find any dead pixels. But I do have the smearing issue
None here! Love this phone

No one here. :good:
Nope, good to go.
Thanks everybody. looks like I am safe to order a replacement as it's likely not first batch related.
I have dead pixels
Hello,
I have the same problem. I have 6 (YES 6!!) pixel dead on my Samsung Galaxy S4
I buy it the launch day.
I don't know if they are dead since day 1. They are soooooo small. At first, i did not see them. But after I see one, i used a grey background color and start to find few of them. I used a program to restore dead pixel, it basicly flash all colors for 30 min, without success
This phone is really the best phone I ever had and pixels are so small it's hard to see it, but i'm a little bit dissapointed.
To see if you have dead pixels, I strongly recommand to use the grey background, then wait on night or before you go sleep when is dark in your room, you will find them only at this moment. On daylight it's almost impossible to see, unless you know exactly were they are.
Google play store : Dead pixel detect and Fix
Looks good to me. Wicked v3+Ktoons=A freaking monster!!!!

I have a dead pixel howeber it is hardly noticeable. I have been told I have to return via post before a replacement can be sent. Do dead pixels have a tendancy to spread? or not. Of not I will stick with this phone as I am f#cked without it for two or three days lol

no, dead pixels do not spread my dear..
an easy way to fix it yourself is to leave the screen on for 30 minutes on full brightness or download an app such as:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.htc.chris.blackspotdetect

ha..!
i had the same prob a couple of years ago with my one x and the solution was to burn it out by leaving the screen on at full brightness for half an hour

cool well the epileptic seizure app has been running for 25 mins now so will burn away
Attempting to "burn" it away has limited success. If you have one dead pixel it's always possible you can get more. At that point, many people who are deep in to monitors consider the screen toast. If you fight with HTC (or whichever carrier) you can likely convince them to send you the replacement first, along with a mailer to send the old phone back. I know for HTC to repair the phone, they want it sent in (obviously), but to just do a RMA on it you can probably convince them to send you a new one first. Just use a line like "what am I supposed to do without a phone for these weeks while I wait for the new one". Or you convince them to overnight it if that doesn't work. Usually they're flexible enough to do that if you try hard enough. I've been able to pull it off with LG, Samsung, and HTC before, as well as with T-Mobile's Insurance Program for repairs, so give it your best shot
Hi all,
My screen is playing up on my Nexus.
Basically I fell asleep on it like an idiot, and when I woke up the screen was having a bit of a crazy pixel party. No noticable physical damage to the screen tho. The device was running hot.
I had originally thought it might be a dead battery issues as the symtoms match this problem, and have tried the various resetting instruction for that, since I was struggling to get it to reboot turn on.
However I have since managed to get it to boot - but the screen is totally blank - not even a flicker.
I know it has booted because I can send it an email and hear the e-mail chime a few moments later.
I've had the back off but it doesn't look overly user serviceable.
I'm close to giving up, buth thought before I go and spend on a new tablet see if anyone had seen something similar or had any ideas?
I've found videos suggesting that the screen connector for the Nexus 7 is unreliable, but the layout of the back shown in the video of the tablet is different to mine, so I'm assuming this is a Nexus 7 2012 problem?
Any advice much appreciated!
EDIT: Apologies noticed the sticky saying this should go in Q&A not General. If mods can move it?
Thanks,
Phil.
You said it yourself you broke the screen. There's a bunch of guides and videos to show you how to replace it. It's not hard just takes a little time.
My pixel 2 XL is about 5 months old. I first came to know about this dead pixel(it's always green coloured, except when displaying black) about 4 months back. Should I exchange the phone or keep it? It does bother me sometimes, especially at night when brightness is turned down. Will Google swap my phone?
Hey,
just go here: https://support.google.com/pixelphone/?hl=de#topic=7078250&contact=1
And choose "Pixel 2 XL (2017)" from the upper right corner. Choose whatever fits your style and ask them

You have a two year manufacturer warranty on that device, and that's clearly a manufacturer defect, so yes.
I got a dead pixel on my screen after 2 months and they RMA'ed it without any problems.
Think you should have a good chance at RMA...
I just RMA'd mine for it. Purchased day 1, received week 1 of launch. Out the box there was one solid black dot/pixel. Tried running pixel fixers and they did nothing. Held onto the phone for a while until the speaker problem started getting worse. I mentioned both but they used the dead pixel as the RMA reason.
