My iGo firmware is 3 years out of date and i was wondering if anyone has managed or bothered to update the software for it. The maps are fine as I can get but firmware is another matter. I have tried to just install a later .apk file but that didnt work. Anyone?
i thought about downloading the store version, but it is a little pricey and wasn't sure it would work right

I downloaded it a few weeks ago from the Play Store. It is a bit expensive but it looks like an awesome and is very easy to use.

Store version? Is this the iGo software update or app from play store? is it an .apk file? Can you supply more info thanks for the response by the way.

i just downloaded the Play Store version on my phone to see what the latest version looks like. Looks way cooler than the one I got from Joying.
However I'm so tied into Google, nothing can really beat Google Maps, other than it is just painfully slow on the Joying
hi thanks for the response. I will have a look too. yes i agree with you about google maps i have only used it once because it needs a live internet connection to work properly, but it was good to use.
FYI (for those who don't know) the iGO version from Joying is pirated. I had confirmed this the iGO makers. The serial they provided was not authentic. The one from the Play store is and will be able to give you fully updated maps, poi, and some others after the purchase. I would recommend if you can afford it. It is very easy to use if you are driving. The best feature is the keyboard, it will allow you to start typing an address and will only allow what is close to it to be typed.

Interesting using pirated software. I am currently trying the sygic software as it seems to be a little more graphic and less crowded on screen. Though the volume is low.

EU/UK users can't enjoy some of the 2.1/N1 features on our Desires such as Voice-to-Text and Google Navigation. Fortunately, there are solutions to both. The Voice-to-Text has already been linked and today I found out how we can get Google Navigation too.
Go to the Android Market, search for Nav Launcher and download the application. Lauch Nav Launcher and download Google Maps [brut] ... voila ... Google Navigation for the rest of the world. I tested it and it seems to work in Spain ... i.e. it plots the route and starts talking etc. Will try it properly when I have a chance. In either case, better than no Google Navigation.
Nav works.

Thanks!! I tested Nav Launcher and Google Maps [brut] and it works in London, UK.
Can you please detail as to how to have the voice-to-text working?
tried it an it worked for me. very nice. but i think i stick with co pilot for now.. bit sentimental on my G1 but flys on my Desire. nice cheap alternative anyway. for those who don't have co pilot.
It doesn't work in the Netherlands.

My experience as well (although on the X10). That, and most of the times the voice instructions were either simply omitted or garbled.
A mistake here was that the software tries to say the name of the street, instead of doing like most other nav-software and simply state "left turn ahead, 100m".
Hi, really need someone from the USA to download googleplaymusic.apk and post it on here, UK arent aloud to download it, but we can still activate using a vpn, just look it up in google if you want it, so, please, help me. Thanks for posting dude, but we did the actual googleplay music.apk, please, someone post latest release, came out yesterday. googleplay movies along with googleplay music got updated yesterday, also street view and a few other, but UK cant download googleplay music.apk, some stupid law, anyway, theres instructions on internet on how to get the download/upload service to activate with a vpn, i really dont know why UK have blocked this part of googleplay music because the download/upload service is just a media server, we cant buy the music from the store so why do they have a problem with it?

Unfortunately, there are no Bluetooth 4.0 (which Bluetooth LE is a part of) libraries built into android right now. In order to connect an android device to a Bluetooth 4.0 connection, you must do it for a specific device, and that device's manufacturer must have released a bluetooth 4.0 SDK. There is an open bluetooth low-energy SDK for Android

"I want my gb 6900 g-shock watch to pair with my GS3!!! UGH"
I am a app developer and I need Bluetooth 4.0 in order to develop hardware for my own phone. As of now i'm using Apples Iphone 5 " Samsung's Competitor" to develop my apps and Hardware. This does not look good on Samsung's part. I really hope this gets figured out. The Galaxy S3 is the top selling phone as of right now. It is also my favorite in terms of use but. The fact that they advertised 4.0 support this sucks!
I am with you on that bro. Got the gb 6900 on my wrist right now but no application to really take advantage of the ble. Just in case you dont know, you can always check that the SGS3 can see the GB 6900 using the "Bluetooth Smart Scanner" application tool found through play.
I also have a Moto Droid 4 which can natively see the watch using the Bluetooth page in settings but I am afriad I have to perhaps look into the developing my own app.

The nRF Utlility from Nordic, i couldnt even download from the Play Store because my phone is marked as "SAMSUNG-SGH-I747" which is at^t's SGS3. I wish there was a way i could download the .apk file from Play Store or even somewhere on the internet.
I am going to check if Nordic has put it on their developer site.
The application i mentioned only just discovers the Bluetooth 4.0 devices and doesnt connect to them. At the moment it is just good enough for proof that Samsung indeed has a Bluetooth Low Energy module in the SGS3.
If you can give me more info on your SGS3 such as network carrier, what rom and kernel you are using, perhaps i might be able to figure out why it is not working for you.

Hi! yes. You would first need to make sure you have the JB official ROM upgrade from at&t through Kies or rooted and unlocked bootloader SGS3 running JB. Unfortunately, there is no official app from Casio for SGS3 as G-Shock+ exists for iOS yet, but you can download nRF Utility from market and then use the watch as a proximity device.

have you tried to clear the bond between the casio gb6900 and nRF utility and Bluetooth smart scanner or other android apps? I believe you can do that by going to the setup screen on the watch and then keep the split.reset button pressed on the watch. What other apps other than Bluetooth Smart Scanner and nRF Utility have you found on android/for sgs3 that use BLE to connect?

I have yet to try the official G-Shock+ app for iOS. I try to stay away(physically and mentally) from any iOS device. You may be right on the on the "better connectivity " as i know Apple did screw up the Dual Mode Bluetooth chipset on the iPhone 4S...which they might have carried on with iPhone 5.
Yes, you would have to wait untill casio develops something or untill there is a API from Samsung for BLE development for Android. I think the latter one is more important as once there is a API, not only Casio can develop a full fledged app but also many individual developers. Samsung is the real sucker in this.
You hafto go into setup in watch menu then hit "start stop" twice then hold in reset. Then search for the watch again.

Well thanks for the effort. Many people before you have done that and got the same response. I dont know why Samsung is not at the top of the matter on this..especially if they really want to seal the deal for SGS3.
It could be that android/google is really pushing for NFC and not so much on BLE because iOS is pushing more on BLE and not so much on NFC.
I tell you these corporate battles just are hindrances to potential opportunity to many technologies and developers. Shame on them!
Update on Android App from Casio
I have some good news to share. We should be getting an Android based app from Casio. See this link
http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/49231/casio-g-shock-gb-5600a-iphone-pictures-hands-on
"It will work only with iPhone at present - because of the app support - but an Android app is in the pipeline for release later in the year."
Another site i found reporting says around end of summer.

Has anybody noticed that Google has updated the Maps app, and thus changed the way the GPS Navigation works?
It SUCKS BIGTIME! Heck, it picks some business that I never went to as maps/navigation history, and even though I delete the maps history, it pops right back like I went there! I cannot slide over in nav to fingd a contact adress anymore either. Also, when I used to search for some place like "Burger King" it always came up with a list and I could choose which one I wanted. Now It PICKS ONE that IT wants and I have no choice anymore. It's like some kid wrote the software and has no f'n idea what he's doing. I am very disapointed with this $hit! The GPS Nav is the SOLE REASON I STAYED WITH ANDROID! Oh well, I guess soon I'll be moving on to an iPhone...... if I can't get things how I want, I just as well get things that WORK!
I'm pretty sure you can find an older, more functional version with some good ol' searching.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Woah there bud. Take it easy.
Google recently made several changes to Maps. (I don't know if this was one). But one big one was they did away with offline maps. Within days it was back due to the enormous amount of backlash.
Send a complaint to Google support about your issues. If it is related to the changes they made, you won't be the only one (and they have just proven they do some times pay attention to user complaints). If it's not and yours is malfunctioning they may already know a fix. And if not, just install an older version for now.
And just so you are aware, maps on iPhone will be the same as ours for the most part. The only reason they didn't have to deal with the offline maps change was because the update hadn't yet become available to them, and it was changed back before it was. Most other changes in functionality will most likely affect the iPhone too.
Just one piece of advice, don't write to Google support the way you wrote your post to us. It's a great way to receive no reply and no help.
And remember, all the things you mentioned may just be from a single simple bug they would correct anyway.
Good luck!

Thanks Doc,
I did it as soon as the update messed my Nav up, but I seriously doubt Google would do anything about it. They always do as they want, including legal aspects, so not hoping to see any changes.
On a more positive note,
If anyone prefers the older version of the software, go to Settings>Application manager>All
and look for "Maps", Select it and click on "Uninstall updates". It will put back the "Navigation" icon too.
DO NOT UNINSTALL THE APP! You might not be able to download and install the older version anymore...
Then, go to Google Play (using the shortcut or from the Tray icons)
Tap the Menu button and select "Settings".
Remove the bullet from "Auto-Update Apps" and put the dot in Do not auto-update apps.
Back out and close Play Store. You will not get any auto updates pushed to your phone anymore!
You still can get all the updates MANUALLY whenever you want....
Just open the Play Store, and tap the Menu button
"Select My Apps"..... It will list all the Apps you have installed that have updates available.
Update whatever you want to and close the Play store app when you're done.
The updatable apps will be at the top of the list, and others below will show "Installed"
Hope this helps others that want the older stuff, but want updates too!
Aloha & Good Luck!
I sideloaded a television providers app (Fios Mobile) installed on my device. The app was working perfectly but it just updated and I keep getting the error "Won't run without google play services which are not supported by your device".
I tried reverting back to the previous version but it was a mandatory update, so no dice. I tried sideloading the Google Play store but that did not help.
Is there a workaround for this type of error? The app does not API call any of Google Play Services. It seems like many of the TV apps are dropping support (they encouraged it a few years ago to lower bills) so you buy another Set top box. Other cable apps know you are inserting a device into a HDMI port and disable it from working that way.
I can download each individual TV app and enter my television providers password or mirror from my Android Phone but that would be a huge inconvenience.
Any suggestions? If there an app that will fool my TV app into thinking the play store is installed?
Since every channel pretty much has it's own app now, is there another app that will take its place instead of downloading each channels separate app and entering the password?
Is your firestick rooted? (Sorry, I don't know if they can even be rooted.) If so, there's an Xposed module to allow apps to work without Google Play Services.
Another idea is to get the Fios Mobile app from the Amazon App Store and side load that one onto your Fire TV: https://www.amazon.com/Verizon-Services-Corp-FiOS-Mobile/dp/B00DGVUD9I/
That one may not have any dependencies on Google apps.

Seriously, you are giving me outdated information???? "Fios Mobile won't run unless you update Google Play Services". It would be nice to know where to find updated compatible versions for each. I have looked at several app stores and none seem to work. So please cut that attitude as your five-second search advice did not get me any further than I was before.

I tried two different app stores but not that Amazon one. Crossing fingers!!!! DARN. Just tried it and said incompatible, you can't make purchases from this device. Fios does support Kindle fire but as I suspect, they don't want the app as a box substitute like they used too.
Maybe, someone has an updated version of what Timmy P linked too. Hopefully, they will test the link first before making condescending remarks about checking older posts.

Because when I read that site from the original author it said FTV and FTV stick not 2 dumbass. Then I read the re-post on here claiming FTV 2 from MARCH 2017!! DId you not see where I said everything was working perfectly since September 4th!!!! Technology changes fast little tike. Google also updates and apps do along with it buttercup.
But I assumed someone with such a smug post must be correct but what a surprise you were not cupcake.
Since there is only 1 person who found a fix on the entire internet, it must not be a very easy fix. If it were, he could put it on APK sites for constant updates.
That is why I also asked 1: If there is a workaround. Easy/permanent if possible, so I don't need to worry about this update. Even easier if there is a 3rd party app that would consolidate all the apps and enter my default password for me.
P.S Being smug even when your correct is being an ass, doing so when you are incorrect makes you a stinky diarrhea with **** nuggets still stuck kind of ass.
I take it English isn't your first language?

Actually, it is but the English language can't adequately describe just how big of a douche you are.
