I use swiftkey keyboard and sometimes it seems to start lagging. I'll type too fast for it to catch up and it's quite annoying. Other times it's perfect and very responsive. It seems like it starts happening randomly. I thought it could be a ram issue but a couple times it's started happening I've closed all apps and cleared ram and it doesn't fix it. I even cleared swiftkey cache. Any ideas? I should mention I type pretty fast.
Two diagnostic questions:
(1) When Switfkey starts lagging, do you also get a lag in the sound-feedback on the stock phone dialer?
(2) Does the Swiftkey delay go away if you turn off sound-feedback for typing?

You mean does the typing sound lag as well or just the sound if I open up the phone app and dial to make a call?
I did a lot of research last night about this and found others with the same problem... Someone said that if you clear your clipboard from the settings in your keyboard the lag goes away.. I did that last night and the keyboard has never felt father. How come that would cause it to start lagging?
Nope, the lag doesn't go away even if I have sound and vibration off. The only thing that seems to have made a huge difference is clearing the clipboard. I don't think it's placebo because it literally hasn't went into lag mode a single time since I did that.
Also, when it would go into lag mode, the keyboard lag wasn't too terrible ever in the messaging app built into the phone however facebook messenger, kik, and Google search were pretty horrible.
After more research I found more posts. Someone said having accessibility option enabled for nova launcher is causing this. I took about 10 screen shots and my keyboard immediately started lagging again. I cleared clipboard and lag fixed. I then disabled nova accessibility, took 10 screen shots, and it DID NOT LAG even with all of those in clipboard. I'm now convinced it's nova launcher causing this issue....

I found information about the epic on this issue but not the epic touch. I have a lot of lag when I turn the screen sideways and when I turn it back. It take 2-4 seconds for the screen to change. I know it does it much faster as I have seen it on other ET's. I have calibrated it and it still has the lag. Any ideas what might be causing it that I can fix?
I really wonder if this will be improved with hardware acceleration via ICS update when that happens.
This is frustrating me more than the infrequent LOS that I have. It doesn't matter what launcher I use. I have tried the touchwiz, ADW EX, SPB Shell 3D, and LauncherPro. They all have a horrible lag when going from portrait to landscape. Now here is the other part of the mystery. If I go to gallery and open a picture, it switches from portrait to landscape really quickly as long as I am viewing the picture. When I back out it is back to the same old lag.
I had the same issue. I fixed it by doing the horizontal calibration in the display settings. Now my lag is at Max 1 sec.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
I have done that and it speeds it up for a few hours and then the lag is back again.
Rotation lag isn't an issue for me, I have the opposite...the phone likes to rotate around anytime I tilt it at all. Very irritating. I just keep rotation locked so I don't have to deal with it.
I've had the zenwatch for almost 2 weeks and i will be keeping it. That being said here is a heads up, i found that using the app facer to make watch faces and using wear mini launcher together causes a good bit of lag when performing any action on the watch. to remedy this issue i downlaoded watch maker and low behold the lag went away. so if anyone is haven a lag issue check into what apps you are use to make your watch faces and also what launcher u have choosen. hope you guys find this helpfull .
So, did you uninstall wear mini launcher ?

no i switched to watch maker it works better with min launcher
I've actually had this happen a number of times and I'm not sure why. It doesn't seem to have a consistent cause. Usually it'll be when I install a new app or something, but it's happened other times as well, but it doesn't happen consistently with one app or another. For me, the lag shows up as the screen basically being frozen without being able to control anything. Eventually, it will unfreeze and I'll usually see the mini-launcher screen, but even a restart with the back button won't solve the freeze.
For me, it was worse when I had Mini Launcher installed, but it still happens occasionally without it. I no longer have either Facer or Watchmaker installed, either. I'm using the Weather Watch Face, though. I wonder if it has something to do with watch faces in general?
When I was using Mini Launcher, apps would almost never launch the first time I tapped on them. It would go back to the watch face and freeze for a few seconds, and force me to go back to Mini Launch and tap again. Without Mini Launcher, this still happens occasionally from the built-in Start... item, but much less frequently.
I have all 3 installed and it doesn't seem to lag too bad. I guess I don't interact with it the same as I would with a phone so it doesn't bother me at all. Whenever I get a card it interacts with it seamlessly, that's about as much as I need it to do

Interacting with cards hasn't been a problem for me, either, it's launching an app that's not already running that seems to be the issue. Sometimes (or almost every time for me with Mini Launcher), the new app doesn't come to the foreground, and the watch appears to hang for several seconds. It then has to be launched a second time to become visible.
I've definitely seen it lag like that. Hopefully it's just a software issue with android wear being so new and updates will help fix that. It's got plenty of processor and ram torrun the tiny apps no problem
I noticed a considerable amount of lag while using mini launcher. To the point that I didn't even want to show off the watch to other people because it made it seem terrible. Major difference since uninstalling, lag free now. I also use Watch Maker and a few Play Store watchfaces with no lag issues.
Wish we could move the start menu to the first selection on the tap screen instead of the last, then I really wouldn't care about a separate launcher.
1+ for deleting mini launcher. I like the app but its so dam laggy. As far as Watch Maker app works at times for me so I deleted that as well. I was using Facer until I ran into Intellicom which seems to be very easy to use and no change in my battery life.
I think this is more of a symptom of using a single core A7 processor. I imagine all of the governors and IO schedules are set up for battery life so that probably doesn't help either. It might just be coincidence that you are running something while a background task is also running.
I have been having this minor problem that when I don't use a web-based app like Chrome for a couple hours, there will be a clear delay when closing Chrome. So basically, I don't open chrome for a couple hours, I launch it and it has to reload back into memory, and then when I go to close Chrome, there is a pretty bad delay between when I press the home button and when the animation starts. This also happens when using websites through the Google search bar at the bottom of the launcher. I am using the pixel launcher, on 8.1 stock with root, no kernel or TWRP, no themes. This did also happen with 8.0, and because it is still bothering me, I figured I'd bring it up. Is anyone having this problem too?
Hi,
So I offer this phone to my wife this xmas and everything was going smooth until we found this issue:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYFdyDwuS_w
The bottom screen does this flickering when typing with Swiftkey keyboard on some apps. This one is Doggcatcher but it happens on other apps too.
If I swap to GBoard it does not happen. We're on Android Pie 9.0.
Has anyone found this issue?
Seems like a graphic bug in that specific keyboard.
Please, i need help.
Evaluate for yourself whether it is related to this topic.
Occasionally, graphical glitches appear on my Mi A2 lite, (4/64, Android Pie, December update, locked bootloader, no root, intact system).
In most cases, they flickering all over the screen, and in some other cases they are frozen, as is shown in attachment.
They are completely random and they appear through many applications that i use.
I can not determine the cause.
Does anyone else have a similar problem?
me... on chrome and all app that use webview... during call status bar is flickering... when switch to the camera in whatsapp with swipe to set status... and other
Something similar here, if Facebook Messenger chat head is overlaying YouTube it flickers a lot (only the actual video but the description and recommend are always working without flicker also no problems in fullscreen), less often it happens with Chrome and sometimes YouTube does it without Facebook Messenger even being open (Android Pie Dec. 5) [also it didn't happen for the first few weeks with 8.1 then Pie got released and worked well for some days then this started to happen]
I have that problem , the notification bar flickers a lot and when on video calls, it shows a black flickering rectangle at the bottom of the screen
Hi, I've got the same problem here. For me, the flickering appears when the keyboard is open, and get faster while typing, please does someone know how to fix that?

It is true that it is the keyboard, my keyboard developer is fixing the bug making it do that as we speak but in my case the whole screen flashes black instead of the little box you have
The problem with the flickering screen in some apps like Youtube, Chrome or Instagram can be fixed as follows:
Go to Developer Options and activate "disable hw overlays"
However, the setting must be set again after every Phone restart.

Isn't that bad long term?
"Without a hardware overlay every application that is displaying things on the screen will share video memory and will have to constantly check for collision and clipping to render a proper image, this can cost a lot of processing power. With a hardware overlay each application gets its own portion of video memory, getting rid of the need to check for collision and clipping."

Mine was having same flickering, checked HW overlays. It was disabled by default, I enabled it and now working perfectly. Thanks alot
Has any one noticed a lag while doing the following:
1. Opening phone app at recent tab section and trying to scroll down immedialtely after opening.
2. Opening the contact app and scrolling down immediately after opening.
After the 1st scroll, there is no lag.
Thanks
Friends your feedback will be highly appreciated...i am curious to know if this slight stutter is normal or is due to something else which may require factory reset
I haven't noticed any lag on my Note 10+, SD 512GB.
Yes, I get it, it looks like it's loading everything that isn't on the initial screen.
It only does it if the app hasn't been opened for a while. No issues if I go into them afterwards.
Well, no lag or stutters here
