How? Update to MM bootloader and stock ROM? - ZenFone 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have Z00A with unlocked bootloader, TWRP, and custom ROM. Has anyone seen a step by step guide to get the Asus MM firmware (bootloader and ROM) installed, and unlock the new bootloader? I have only found bits and pieces.

Yes there is a guide in the general forum. It's called something like "[Guide] how to safely upgrade to MM from any rom "

Marshmallow Upgrade after Bootloader Unlock

I flashed back to lollipop from marshmallow and unlocked the bootloader. Can I use OTA to safely upgrade? If not, how do I go back to marshmallow and keep root?
You will have to root and unlock again if you want MM back. Flash the LP to MM firmware. You use the same process to root and unlock as you did on lp

How to unlock bootloader and install twrp on official 6.0?

I m on stock marshmallow that was released recently by Asus n i wan to unlock bootloader so i can flash cm13 and other roms. All guides ask for unlock bootloader from lollipop. So is there any way through which i can unlock the bootloader without reverting back to lollipop. Have never rooted my device before.
Use the method in the video in post 141. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=68481473

Downgrade Roms?

If I'm on a rooted MM rom (modest rom) with the latest firmware rooted and unlocked.. Can I install a LP rom without losing root and bootloader unlock . Can I simply install a 5.1 or whatever rom?

Click to collapse
if it isn't a rooted rom you will loose root although most are rooted and you can just flash super su in twrp to root it. and roms don't write anything to the boot loader unless you are installing a full stock image in Odin. (tldr: yes)
Thanks for the clarification

Locked vs Unlocked Bootloader

Hi i would just like to ask something that has been confusing me for quite a while now. I've had my hydrogen for a week and ive unlocked bl, rooted now with a custom rom(rr rom 5.7.4 working great!!) I did not actually wanted to unlock the bootloader but to be safe, i followed the instructions.
so here it is, before mi max, I had a mi4i, an xperia, and a zenfone 4, done the same, root, install custom recovery, and flashed custom roms.. the only unit i unlocked bl was the xperia since i wanted to flash Official CM, (CM's comes with their own kernel right? so flashing them needs bl unlocked) but when BL was locked i could still flash roms, manual update, (ROMs that are meant for locked bl only). then with mi4i (locked bl) i was able to root, install twrp, manual flash updates, official roms, and custom rom (CM13).
The part where I am confused is, why do i need my bootloader unlocked if i was going to root, install twrp, and flash custom roms only on my max without touching the kernel? When in my previous experiences as long as i dont need touch/tweak the kernel, i dont need my bootloader to be unlocked.
Sorry for long post..
I hope my question makes sense

How do I begin? full stock og5, 5.0.1, not using any sim

Just got a Verizon Note 4 and I wanted to install MODest Rom. I haven't used Odin in a long time. Is it safe to just start using Odin and flash firmwares (like the full firmwares here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/no...mware-firmware-kernel-modem-recovery-t2942937 ) until I get to PA1 5.1.1 and then start from there in the provided guides in the forums, or do I have to temporarily root first or unlock my bootloader or install twrp.
Regarding the ota updates in the link above, can I just flash those using the stock recovery (e.g. ota from 5.0.1 og5 to 5.1.1 pa1) and start from there in the guides?
Any help regarding how to root the note 4 and unlocking the bootloader is also appreciated.
Thank you
Juan
