Battery Drain from Android System - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Hi guys. I'm running stock OOS 3.2.7 with latest superSU and xposed systemless 86.2 I have this problem where android system is taking up a lot of battery drain and I don't know why. I was thinking it was the GPS services because it says that its on for 1+ days but I have turned off GPS. I don't know why its draining so much. Any help would be appreciated and I can give further details if need be. Thanks

I'm afraid that is not oneplus fault. That is android itself and your not the only one, it's happening to me as well. Right now there is currently no fix for it and it's affecting the whole android ecosystem, not just the oneplus 3. It's been happening since lolipop so google needs to fix this asap.

Clear cache. Or google.play services and of snapchat. Even if younturned it off snapchat uses it

Anyone facing issue with High Battery Drain because of Google Services on this ROM ?
Below services are listed under Google Service in battrey consuming items ..
Google Backup Transport
Google Account Manager
Google Service Framework
google Contacts Sync
Google Play services
Because of these services CPU isn't sleeping resulting in Phone battery drainin very fast.. like 60% in 5-6 hours without usage.
Anyone facing similar issue .. (I have latest Google services installed as Google apps dont work without latest services... )
Since I updated my LG-E980 my battery is draining faster when I'm on WiFi. Before the update it had a setting where I could sit in to slow down my system to save battery life. It's gone now so my battery life is half as good. I don't know what to do now? Other than I need the next update from 4.4.2. I'm new to this and I don't know how to root my phone. Sorry I wish I could help you.

D851 Stock Marshmallow Bluetooth Song Data

Hi All,
I was wondering if it was just me or everyone is having the same issue. Prior, when my phone was on D85120g and the phone was paired to my car, the song information was being sent and displayed on my car's screen. However, since the Marshmallow upgrade, the song information is not being sent over. I have tried the stock music app, spotify, and Google Play Music. Have you guys experienced this?
It's caused by changes in Bluetooth permissions in marshmallow sadly. Had that issue since I switched to cm13 (it's the same cause)

Thanks for the info @Travisholt92. Just wanted to let you know if that you take the latest nightly from CM13, it works. I just installed CM13 a couple of days back and took the latest nightly. However, I reverted back to stock since I have very poor cell reception at my work and need to rely on wifi calling.

Issue: Fingerprint hardware not available

Would like to ask if anybody experienced the issue "fingerprint hardware not available"?
There's a thread in z5 forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/help/fingerprint-hardware-available-t3354800/page11
but seems liker a common problem for whole z5 series...
There are several possible solutions there but nothing works for me. And there is no clear symptom, when is occurs...
Perhaps can anybody share experience?
I have this problem too, im on latest romaur and with the aur kernel and i loose the fingerprint Thing after about 30mins after a reboot. I also get an video error from Youtube so i vant watch videos
Goto google player service and disable body sensor from permission, if the problem persists then downgrade google play service to stock.

Didn't help and Google Play services gets updated automatically again...
I have recently been having the same issue while running v4.1 of ROMAUR, I never upgraded to v4.2.1 and it got considerably worse in the last two weeks. Initially it would happen once or twice a month but then, like you, I started experiencing it every 30 minutes and nothing would solve that issue.
For over a week now I have not had that issue, that is because I have gone back to a stock ROM of 253 and used a stock kernel that simply has recovery and drm fixes. I am rooted and running xposed, problem is with Auras work, whatever he is doing to his ROM is breaking the functionality of the sensor.

I doubt that, because I had been using Romaur 4.2.1 since a while and the sensor worked fine for a really long time until about 2 weeks ago.
Can you share your Google Play Services version?

I do not doubt it, I have seen first hand that it was an issue when I was running ROMAUR and now I am not having a single issue. I updated all my apps, including Google apps via apkmirror, so the same Play Services was running on both ROMAUR and my stock 253, yet not a single issue on stock, so explain that one.

Oh yeah, when I rebooted my phone on stock, it actually boots back up first time, does not act up and loop either like it did on ROMAUR and I have all the same apps running, including Xposed and Viper.

Just to report back:
In another thread in Z5 forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68299976&postcount=165) there was a solution proposed, and it works for me so far:
Try renaming these files on /system/etc/firmware/
tzwidevine.b00 -> tzwidevine.b00.bak
tzwidevine.b01 -> tzwidevine.b01.bak
tzwidevine.b02 -> tzwidevine.b02.bak
tzwidevine.b03 -> tzwidevine.b03.bak
tzwidevine.mdt -> tzwidevine.mdt.bak
Then reboot.

This seems really to be fix. Havent got the fingerprint problem ever since (should have already had several times, based on the experience in the last weeks). It also solves the youtube video issue.
In addition I found a thread on this on Z2 forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xper...t3290793/page2
Seems to be a bug regarding unlocked bootloader or similar. Don't know what the files really do. But based on knowledge that people solved this with newer .253 ROM and kernel (rootkernel), perhaps SONY has already done something there. Perhaps anybody can check his .253 ROM?
Anyway, thanks to @depotjam.

Mobile Network Standby draining battey on Oreo 8.1 ROMs

So, I was on latest MIUI China beta before. Somedays ago, I flashed the Resurrection Remix 6.0.0 (06.03.2018 build). Battery was draining fast. I checked battery usage and there was this ”Mobile Network Standby” which was draining the battery. It even consumed more power than Screen and Android System. I thought it was some bug on RR. So, I flashed Lineage OS 15.1 (05.03.2018 build). Everything was fine here too. Except that ”Mobile Network Standby” thing. It was draining battery on this ROM too. I tried L OS 15.1 12.03.2018 build and RR 6.0.0 10.03.2018 build. That bug still present in these ROMs too.
I tried possibly everything to fix that issue. I've tried following -
1. Network Setting Reset
2. Turn off Data always on in Developer Settings
3. Turn off VoLTE (I don't even use LTE here)
4. Clean cache via TWRP
5. Turn off WiFi scanning during sleep
6. Turn of Location Services
7. Turn off Google play Services wakelock and background running via Privacy Guard
8. Finally, I clean flashed both ROMs
But, Nothing has fixed the issue.
on Nougat 7.1.2 ROMs everything is absolutely fine. There's no draining issue
PS - I used stock kernel with CN Firmware 8.3.1 and 8.3.8
Is there any possible fix for this issue? Anyone else having this issue? Any updates on fixing this issue in future?
Sorry for my English btw
Thanks
Update: Using the ForceDoze (root method) app reduced the battery drain. But, it didn't really solve the problem
Try the app "ForceDoze", helps with almost any battery drain. Does require root though. Another explanation could be that your reception is bad for whatever reason, so also check that. Also flashing a newer GApps might help.

Tried. Even tried Greenify force doze by rooting. No improvement.
And cellular reception is pretty fine here. I don't have this issue on nougat ROMs
I have same problem with clean lineagos 15.1. Probably everone on lineageos have the same problem. Thank you for listing what do not help. I do not have to try myself.
Nope, don't have it. Rarely goes above a few percent of the battery usage.

what kernel and firmware you're using? did you clean flashed? and which rom btw?
Stock kernel, firmware 8.3.1, OpenGApps of 11th of March, LOS 15.1 version of 5th of march, and dirty flashed all in-between version since the switch to the "official" status.
I tried using sim slot 2, a sim duplicate, also I have migrate my network carrier... still the same...
Since I read it also happens in miui roms and it could be firm related issue I flashed oldest firm required by LOS15.1, that as luk said is 8.1.4, and after switching off WIFI it still drains my battery...
I don't know why this happens, and I don't know why it is happening just to a few of us but is totally annoying...

Root and Use ForceDoze app
It reduced the drain noticeably. But, this drain still persists

it reduced the drain via rooting. via adb it doesn't do anything. but the drain still exists. Thanks a lot
This problem occurs due to incorrect work with VoLTE, including after various ways to disable it (in the settings, through Build.prop, etc.) and is relevant only for some cellular operators.

As I said, the problem don't be solved by switching off the VoLTE in all of the listed ways.
Fix for battery drain Oreo 8
Work around, issue is with 4G preferred network type under mobile network settings, just change to 3G and
all will be fine. Guess I'll be waiting for the good people of Android to send out fix one of these years?

all won't be fine. I've tried that. though, draining reduces on 3G network. but, mobile network standby still drains battery. no fix so far. not even a clue, what's causing this drain
I only get a noticeable drain on the train, so I guess it has something to do with connecting to, or scanning for, network masts.
im having the same issue but I have full signal lte. mobile standby is at 34% last I checked. clean install, gapps nano and magisk 16.4
volte disabled. klte galaxy s5 g900t.
I think i know whats happening. When i first installed los 15.1 on my s5 it showed 2 sims when i only have 1 sim port. A reboot seemed to fix the issue and now shows 1 sim. However, i also noticed that without signal, mobile network standby is at 72% draining battery. At this point im thinking the phone is searching for network. What if that even though there is full siignal on lte, the phone is continually searching and scanning even though its connected to cellular network?? Thus giving us this massive battery drain.
I have an Umidigi A1 PRO and had a similar issue, Mobile Network Manager battery drain. I contacted Umidigi and they replied to me:
"Ok, please go to 'Settings --> Security location --> Location (under Privacy) --> Scanning' and disable both Wi-Fi- and bluetooth scanning. That scanning function uses both bluetooth and WiFi (in any phone) even if they are turned off."
This reduced battery drain considerably and now overnight, with wifi switched off, battery usage is between 2% and 3%. Even in day with wifi switched on drain is what I would expect of any mobile. There must be a reason why this option is not placed under 'Network'. I haven't tested out the above (dual sim), but will try adding a second sim and see what happens as the the Mobile Network Manager battery usage is still above normal.
Regards.
I have the same Cell Standby issue.
However Wifi & Bluetooth scanning are disabled.
I have also set my preferred network to 3G since I don't have an LTE contract yet.
I'm currently using a Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910F), with the current Resurrection Remix Oreo build (RR-O-v6.1.0-20180712-trlte-Official).
I sure hope somebody figures this out.

Issues with apps over WiFi after upgrading to Android 9

Hi. At the start of December, I upgraded my Mi A2 Lite to Android 9 and ever since then I have been facing issues with a few apps over WiFi. The following apps are being affected:
- YouTube
- Twitter
- Facebook
- WhatsApp
- Chrome
*These issues are only on my WiFi. On 4G or any other WiFi these issues don't happen*
The issue with Facebook and Twitter is the same. Both won't load any new feed and behave as if my WiFi is not turned on. YouTube only works at times, other times it would just keep loading and nothing would happen. Sending images or videos on WhatsApp is impossible now. It even has troubles making the backup to Google Drive on my WiFi. As for Chrome the issue is that sometimes even though WiFi is turned on, it would not load any page and just say that I'm not connected to internet. I've been reading other people's threads online and even emailed Xiaomi and Google. I tried the steps (hardware test etc) as told in the email by Xiaomi but that has not helped. Some said that using WiFi and Bluetooth at the same time caused this issue but I have used WiFi with bluetooth turned off yet the issue is still there. Now if this was a WiFi issue then I would have contacted my provider but with the same WiFi connection I have not faced a single issue on any other mobile devices and laptops. As for my WiFi I can't seem to change it from ipv6 to ipv4 (or I just don't know how to). If anybody has faced this issue and knows how to solve it then please help, It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
Have you tried disabling Bluetooth and then reconnecting to the WiFi in question? Having both enabled at the same time causes WiFi speed transfers to be really bad, it's an already reported Pie bug.
Btw, can u see 5ghz wifi networks?
Cause i can and have same problem with slow wifi+bluetooth
Yes I have turned Bluetooth off and used WiFi like that but the issue is still there with all the apps mentioned
Any update on this? I'm having the same issue. Using a VPN seems to solve the problem but the connection is slower.
I am facing the same problem on my A2 lite Android One Pie. Even the further upgrades including March upgrade did not resolve the issue. It really sucks.
Has anyone found any solution?
Is MI even concerned or acknowledges the issue?
Is there a way to go back to Android 8?

Hello Dear Sajid Abid,
Good Day !
1st Remember One Thing. Downgrade Is Not A Easy Task, Downgrading Has Also A SIM Issue Problem,.But If You Still Want To Go Back Your Mobile Device From Pie To Oreo You Need To Unlock The Boot-Loader (Off-Course Unlocking Boot-Loader Will Void Warranty) Then Download Stock Oreo (From MIUI Forum) And Flash It With The Help Of IMFlash Tool. After Successfully Ported The Stock Oreo Rom You Can Close The Boot-Loader.
All Instructions/Steps Can Be Easily Found On A2 Lite Forum.
Here Is The Link Which Can Help For Resolving SIM Issue Problem.
