[q] the unspoken of rooting method

What was wrong with bonsai masterkee unlock? Sorry if threads on this topic are against the rules (i thought only links were), so I am sorry if I broke the rules, if so a mod may delete this thread but I just want an explaination.
Did the news get around about a guy named butcher pete?
Idk but why go to another method when one-click is simple and fast

Idk, idc, idgaf, im just wondering.

Currently the advantage of using their tool for me anyways is that I think their Recovery is > cwm 3.0.2.5 . In future updates this tool will install ROM's and will work on multiple devices is what i heard.

This probably best as a discussion in the General thread. It seems a little more lenient as long as links to a site that is free and only requires a registration to download is forbidden unless you are Android Central which also requires registration to download. But that must be different ??????
links to android central downloads are against the rules also... but discussing bonsai stuff is not. there are a few threads here. but announcing their releases here will usually get locked, since you cant link them, and they dont support them here. I havent used the unlocks yet, i downloaded them to take a look but havent had a chance, but when gingerbread comes they will have to make changes anyway.

Thanks Chris for the explanation. I guess the Android Central links are not as controversial as the Bonsai so don't get the same publicity when they are removed. Thanks again.
No Bonsai links Allowed

I know that XDA does not allow bonsaigeek links due to the fact that Bonsai requires you to register at their site to get thair code. XDA views this as against the liberties granted through the GPL license.
I do not think they allow Bonsai announcements either.
The latest posters who were shutdown were flamers, extremely critical of XDA and their policies. If you do not like XDA policies, do not sign up & post.
They should not sign up, accept the policies, and then flame XDA, basically asking for a ban.
That's my opinion anyway, FWIW.

I had a dream someone cleaned up the stickies on this and the android dev forum

Apparently I was wrong.
A+ thread, would read again.
But no seriously, I have a 1200 pixel tall monitor and the android dev forum is half of my screen. It just looks sloppy. Not that it really matters but it just makes it hard to sift through the data. Most other device forums have 1 or 2 stickies. We have 10. 4 of which could be compacted into 1 "read first" post, 3 of them are how to root, and 3 of them are about modems (possibly out of date anyway?).

lmao yeah dev pretty loud with duplicate EK02 how to this that , unroot tip 24 etc many threads on same topic which I'm sure gets a little confusing for newbies.
Only things needed in sticky status is sfhub automatic root & Jerdog How to flash tar with odin listing EG30 , EG31 , EK02 tars.
Operation Iron Fist , XDA development rules stay intact of course.
A major + would be a qbking sticky that had all rom reviews in one place.
Its simple stuff not confusing getting the job done.
From there merge 4 of the same topics together leaving kernels and rom threads in tact.
End result is clean organized forum
ok - you're going to complain and clutter the thread - one of you can be part of the solution.
Which of you wants to take a sticky to create:
Current Root Processes
Return to Stock Options
Kernels/Mods/ROMs/Recoveries
The key is you will have to maintain it. But if you can complain and clutter, then I think you're capable of compiling info and updating.
Otherwise......... i think you get the idea.
Thanks for the reply. I'll look at writing a few threads up when I get home from the gym.
Is it preferred that I link back to the original writer for some of these things? Copy pasta seems too much like stealing other peoples work to me.

create a post that has links to the original information - is just an informational sticky - title it so that it's easy to understand - maintain it - etc.
Also someone who wants to keep track of a list of ROMs.... Even one thread that has Kernels/Mods/ROMs/Recoveries all in one

I agree, I just thought about how if it was copied you would lose all of the old discussion.
I'll lay out a rough organizational later.
excellent idea!
Do you guys think we should have root guides in the dev forum, or the general forum? As of now we have them in both.
If any of you been a while, you might remember the sticky rollup. In that that you have a ton of links to the threads and the single sticky itself is just used for suggestions for other links. Once those links have been added, the posts deleted to clean the thread.

Depends - if one is a guide but has actual development work in it, then it's dev. But if it's a general guide of how to do it and just links elsewhere it could go either place
Test post for general.

I just included all the stuff that is currently sticked in general. I'll probably add root guides from the dev forum if there are any in there that can be moved.

Again, I just copied current stickies here. Someone else might be able to better write this one and determine what is current and stuff, as I'm not a dev or have any idea what any of it is but this seems alright.
Any feedback on formatting or where stuff should be would be appreciated. If there's anything really redundant that should be removed from the dev post let me know.
Perhaps move this thread
Only actual DEV, GUIDE, HOWTO, HACK, MOD, APP & FIX topics allowed in DEV
over to the dev forum?
I'm moving it over the dev post, but would it matter if it's linked back to general? I suppose it's pretty easy to move that one thread in the end.

If any moving needs to happen I will do that.
Also any of the current procedural stickies will need to stay themselves and I will look at maybe trimming them.
Later on tonight I will also look at what you have categorized and offer my opinions.

Yeah that's the idea of a rollup. One thread to encompass them all. Then you break up the op like you did for grouping like thread links together. Maybe have a section for useful mods. I haven't checked it in a few months, but if you look at the HTC fuze rollup, you might get some ideas. Conantroutman made one for the captivate when he took midship of those forums. That one had everything bundled together. Some devices wikis are pretty nice, too. Maybe get an idea from that. The captivate is pretty good. Vibrant and epic are ones to get an idea of what not to do.

Yeah it's all for the most part in the same place. I just moved that one dev rule thread over to the test post for the dev forum instead of the general forum's
As it stands it's all just links to the current stickies in categories.

I've begun an answer to the problem.

Feel free to add/update/edit anything you see fit.
I have started simple tables for the ROMs page so far.

[Q]Removing Polls in Threads

I'm probably missing something here, but: Is there a way to remove a closed poll in one of my threads, so that I can create another one, when needed? I looked under the thread options, as well as the options in the OP (Advanced Edit mode), but could not find any way to do this.
Thread in question is in my signature.
No but admin can, if want to link the thread here I'll pass across, or send a PM.
You can also make requests like that here for fast responses
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276306
Nope, once you created, and closed a poll, only mods/admins can do the stuff your asking about

Can I delete old threads?

Is it possible to delete old threads if so how? thanks
Only moderators can delete threads.
Moved to About XDA section.
If you need a thread to be closed, you will need to contact your FSM (forum specific fomerator) and ask them to close the thread for you. As for deleting a thread, i think a moderator would rather close the thread, as someone else searching for an answer to a question might find the answer in your thread, stopping the need for that member opening a new thread to ask their question.
Exactly
I was the same problem. Thanks for your guidance.
It is a bit of a bummer as to why you cannot delete posts and threads of your own but you can see why it is necessary for that permission to only be given to a MOD.
But the REPORT button could be seen as the close button.

works great! thanks!
Great! Thanx.
This Memo-App is good ?!
Please remove this app immediately! This is NOT your work. This is a member the RemICS developer team's hard work. It is NOT a port, it is a themed app.
Please remove the apk from the 10 other places you have posted this across the forums. I am reporting each and every one of your posts to XDA. I think you owe monish1995 an apology.
apk is deleted pls send original thread
