Bricked my Z1 compact - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought a second hand Z1 compact, fully functioning (with root, cm12.1)
Unfortunately, the magnetic charger which came with the phone, could be connected in the wrong polarity. connector was hot after 1 minute, so I disconnected right away. But the phone charging capability was damaged already. It cannot charge with magnetic anymore (flashing led). Charging with usb is working, but after reaching 70% the charger OR phone is disconnecting each second (short circuit issue maybe?) so screen is flashing.
I can use the phone on the 70% charge but I don't trust it anymore. The phone also killed the charger of my old LG phone, after some hours charging on the LG (normal USB) charger, the charger malfunctioned, gives no output anymore)
The Sony charger is still alive.
Should I consider the phone bricked, or can it be repaired?

I had a lot of problem using magnetic charger. It burned my battery (after full charge/ recalibrate battery, the phone, at 70%, shut down as 0%) and I had to change it. In my opinion, don't use it except in the case you use sony official accessories
Try to recalibrate battery, or flash a stock rom. In final istance, if nothing works, probably you've to change battery

Have the same issue on mag charger. But was connected less than a second in wrong polarity. I will see how far charhing can be done on USB. When repair needed, is it battery to replace or is there any charging electronics that needs to / can be replaced?

It depends. If magnetic charger broked the battery, should be enough change it. If charger causes also display flash/ display issues could be also other problems. I suggest you to send it to sony, or other affidable technician

Thanks, phone operates quite ok, i currently stuck at 87% with charging, and charging seems slow.... I charged party switched off, partly switched on. Currently, as soon as disply is on (in phone off state, so the charging animation) the chargong led flashes at 87%, if screen iy off, charging led lites orange. With mag charger connected. With USB charger, it turns off....
So I still have hope. Any way to reset any bat stats, not sure if there are any...

Hmm... Nochance going over 95.....

You're "lucky": my phone shut down with 70% of charge, and sure 100% was a battery problem

GneX not charging

I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem.
I am not sure why this happens but sometimes I plug in to charge and nothing happens. Now maybe I noticed that I play gta3 and my phone gets really hot ca. 43 Celsius. And when I am done with playing it won't charge. Could it be that the phone won't charge when it's too hot???

Not sure what the problem is but 43C isn't hot, mine has hit 97C.
Its running at 57C right now.
Then again I am running it at 729/1536mhz
Have you tried looking into your USB port to see if there is dirt/a connector damaged?

My own experiences
I recently started having the same problem. I can see no foreign material in the USB port, but sometimes when it plug it in it does not register as charging. Unplugging it and plugging it back in (at the phone end) 1 or 2 times seems to resolve it.
While I doubt it is relevant this started happening shortly after I was pushed to 4.0.4.
I've begun wondering if perhaps the jack is loose.
Just wanted to post in case this becomes a known repeatable issue with a fix.
my phone is the Verizon Gnex with extended battery running Android 4.0.4. It is neither rommed nor rooted.
Do a search on this forum, this EXACT issue has been covered plenty of times (about 30 threads I would guess).

external battery Case

hey guys!
I ofcourse have an HTC one X from rogers and I have recently acquired the innocell Plus battery case from Seidio.com.
i noticed that after plugging in the USB charger that came with the case into the htc wall adapter (that came with the usb cord for the one x) I have waken up to find the phone not charged and the case fully charged. I also noticed that the charge is very shotty via that connection as the indicator displaying the charge icon within the battery display on the screen will flicker and stop randomly as well. I only tried that connection because I have read online that the phone itself should be charged with the wall charger instead of the PC as the wall provides higher voltages needed to give the phone its maximum charge.
While trying to use the case to charge my phone on the go I have also noticed the same flickering at times with the case shutting off randomly as well. Last night I used the cable that came with the case in the USB port of my computer to charge my phone and case at the same time. This charged up my phone and case as normal. My concern now is that USB charging the phone itself will cause either limit its maximum charge capacity or slowly ruin the battery altogether. My other concern is that the flickering of the phone icon dude to the stop and go charging will ruin my phones charge capacity.
Any help is appreciated! and also, was there something I was supposed to do with the case at the beginning for those of you that use one?
thanks!

Try cleaning the pogo pin holes. That was the culprit with my dock. I used alcohol and a toothpick

[Car charger] LED blinking when using car charger

As in the title mentioned - I started using car charger (use my hox as navi) and I noticed that after 7-8 minutes of constant orange LED light (the phone is charging when using a navigation app), the LED starts blinking green and orange and my hox stops charging. It happens every time I use it. The battery temperature is 48C when it starts blinking.
I am not using stock htc charger. My charger current intensity is 2100mA (default htc is 1000mA), output voltage 5-10V. The same happens when I use 500mA charger.
I tried to call the local htc support and I found out that:
1. That is weird
2. I should try with other car :good:
3. I should buy htc charger :highfive:
All in all they didn't help me much, so I decided to ask you - xda users. Did it happened to anyone and is it safe to use it that way, coz I don't want to fry my motherboard??
I think you need 1A charger and/or protect your HOX from sun
Led blink if battery is heated.
I have two chargers already (500mA and 2100mA) and I don't want to buy third one unless it's really necessary
If it were from over heating then it wouldn't happen on 0,5A charger (and then 1A charger probalby won't solve the problem). Unless I am wrong...
If it blinks from overheating is it safe to use it? I mean if it starts blinking (and stops charging the same time) is it some kind of built in protection. I don't want to fry my motherboard...
Don't make a same mistake as me

Hello there,
Chargers are cheap but phone's aren't. I ignore that rule and now my battery life is pretty bad. I used my hox for just over a year mainly as a satnav.

Heats up when charging

I just got my shiny new m360. Powered it up and put it to charge for the first time using ths official dock and charger it came with. However, inoticed that the watch is hot to the touch right now. Am i the only one experiencing this issue?

I dont know man, my z1 and s5 do not get hot when charging. Warm yes, hot no.
But my watch gets pretty hot. Ill observe if this will happen again on my 2nd charge

I just got one today and the same for mine. Problem though is that the charge will actually go down when its cradled. I had to up the adapter by using my Moto X charger instead and it charged it pretty quickly. Can't be good for the battery but I needed it for the initial setup process. Hopefully it doesn't drain when I revert to the old adapter and have it charge while I sleep.

Did you start setup before charging?

Yep, which is why I came on here and found that people were successfully charging their watches with a more powerful adapter. Most people will do the setup first because that's what Motorola's instructions state to do (which is a shame).
My ordeal is essentially this:
1) Didn't finish setup process, prompted to charge, automatically shut off.
2) Couldn't charge with provided adapter, but charged completely with the Moto X adapter
3) Finished setup process, couldn't connect to the internet.
4) Factory resetted, redid setup, connection established.
5) Charges fine on cradle now.
Glad I'm done with that, but the problem with Motorola's instructions are that it essentially tells you first to start it up first, with the charging cradle instruction at the end of the manual. On top of that, when I factory resetted the first time and attempted to charge while off, it turned on on it's own about 12% and after an hour, it was still at 12%. To get over that hump, I had to turn it off, charge it and when it turned on again, I turned it back off.

LG G4 dont turn on with cable plugged in and dont charging.

Hello, I have problem with my G4. First, stop charging. I must turn it off to charge but now when i try this my phone don't turn at all. When i plug charger when phone is booting i look like is charging but charge it too slow ( in Ampere app: 10 - 100 mA ). When i pull off the battery with plugged usb it turn on and show error about missing battery. Can i do anything with this ? Sorry for my bad english.

Allow me to try to explain because I am experiencing the same problem and I am searching for a solution as well.
Basically there is some issue with powering the phone. It sounds like for both InFinityWar and I, our phones' batteries died and when we try to charge them the phone won't charge (won't power on, no notification light). The thing is that when we take out the battery and just plug the phone in directly to the a charger without the battery in the actual phone, a symbol of a battery with a question mark in it appears on the screen.
I do not know about OP but I have bought a new battery and have still been experiencing the same problem.
