Hi Everyone,
every time i boot my note 7 to recovery, it says "installing system update",for about 30 seconds, then fails and lastly goes into recovery. I have never seen this in my previous galaxy phones, i also never attempted to update the device.
1) Why am i getting this? does this happen anyone out there?
2) Does This phone automatically update without my consent??
My phone contains the PH1 firmware, and i do intend to update as i want to root this device, i also flashed ATT firmware i still get this "installing system update" and then fails, then recovery
currently keep the phone offline out of the fear of auto updating.
3) How do i get rid of this??

Hey guys - so, I will first say that I tried unrevoked2 when I applied the sprint OTA update before FroYo.
It did a few things to my phone but it looks like it didn't root it. I assumed that I now basically have a vanilla EVO and I'm ok with that, the issue now is that when trying to update to the FroYo OTA update, when I reboot the phone when I indicate that I want to install the phone now it goes right into Fastboot.
Is there a way I can stop FastBoot from loading entirely so I can just get this sprint OTA Update applied?
Alternatively, is there a way I can get my 1.47.651.1 phone rooted so I could try installing something like Fresh?
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers!
Edit - I can the same issue when trying to factory reset my phone, basically any time the phone tries to reboot itself it goes into fastboot
I have a sprint phone and am trying to update my phone to 4.2.2. A few months ago when I first got the phone I had attempted to root it. Long story short, it totally didn't work (i accidentally installed verizon root), had to use odin to reinstall my radios and whatnot. In the end, I decided to just not root my phone.
However, I think i am screwing my phone up to the point that it won't update. Whenever I try to let it update, it goes into (what i imagine) is the recovery mode where it shows a picture of the android bot with a red alert sign as if there is an error. Furthermore, I went in to fastboot and tried to go to recovery but can't (it shows that same android with it's front open and an error sign on it).
I am not even sure where to start here. Any advice? I tried to reinstall my recovery using the nexus toolkit but that didn't work.:crying:

Hello there,
I've previously used Odin to install several versions on several phones, so at leas I know some very basics, like, using Odin and what not.
Here's my problem. I rooted my 4.3, it gave me some trouble, and the main reason I wanted it rooted was to get backups for my apps. Turns out I can back up my data with carbon "rooted-unrooted" so I decided to ditch the root since it was giving me some hassle with the security update thing and titanium was not working properly. "had to do some other stuff and I was kind of tired.
Turns out I tried to install my other official firmware I had "4.1". Sadly, upon using Odin with it, it now says that I'm trying to install an unsupported version and won't proceed... I'm stuck in here because I cannot restart by pressing up+power because it gives me an error and says I need to restart in download mode.
I was wondering if installing a fresh copy of 4.3 would fix this. Yet I've been unable to find any actual official files... yeah... I know this sounds pathetic, but... I've been herer for an hour + and have not found either a solution or the original 4.3 file or whichever file I would need for this.
Decided to turn unto this community which has helped me a lot in the past to solve all my previous issues.
So... How do I install a fresh 4.3 or how do I get out of this mess? My cell phone doesn't turn on, it just tells me the following:
Firmware Upgrade Encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.
I had 4.3 installed with all the security crap on it, so when I go to download mode and install 4.1, it says that the verison is unsopported...
Thank you all in advance.
Download Mr Robinson's 4.3 rooted ROM from here.
Flash it via ODIN and you should be good to go.
Your phone is already on 4.3 bootloader and it is not letting you downgrade to any version below it.
Hello everyone.
Yesterday my phone finally told me that my download of the new Android 6.0 was ready for my phone which is rooted, but running stock ROM. I downloaded it, and pushed install. I left it by itself so it had the space it needed, no pressure and all that, and anxiously returned to discover the new Android. Bummer, it looked just like before! After trying to install it again, I saw how it failed. I will explain it step by step:
1. When I push install, it starts unpacking the update.
2. After about 2-5 minutes standing still at 0%, the little loading screen disappears and the phone return to normal.
3. When another 1-3 minutes have passed, it suddenly restarts itself into recovery, where it seems it tries to upgrade the software.
4. The screen gives me a series of errors, like: Cannot mount E Data/Android/providers, E is not a valid argument etc.
5. When it finalizes, it tells me the installation is aborted, the log is saved, and then the phone reboots. Rinse repeat.
Hope someone can help!
You need the stock (never rooted) ROM and stock recovery, to update by OTA.
Restore a stock ROM for your version using TWRP, then install stock recovery again.
I am using CWM, is it the same method I should use for that as well?
Yes. Same thing for CWM. Restore to a stock ROM that has never been rooted using CWM then flash stock recovery again before attempting to download the OTA again.
"Error occurred while updating..." Think I have bricked while attempting to downgrade
Please help.
I was attempting to root and SIM unlock the SM-G925T. It was already on Nougat 7.0 (and November 2017 security/patch).
CF Auto Root would not work. Neither did an attempt to manually flash TWRP (although attempting one of those two tripped KNOX).
I thought I'd downgrade to Marshmallow and then re-attempt root/unlock. Downloaded "G925TUVU5EQC2" from gsm-firmware and tried to execute via Odin.
I am left with a permanent blue screen with that "!" reading I need to use Smart Switch's Emergency Recovery. That, btw, does not work either (and neither does re-attempting after reinstalling device drivers from within SS).
Could someone please suggest what I should do? Pressing and holding power/home/vol- keeps taking me back to this blue screen. Unable to get to the recovery or anywhere for that matter.
Ok, so... Despite not seeing any other screen, I went ahead with reflashing the Marshmallow ROM via ODIN. Worked this time and the phone rebooted.
Interestingly, now, my unlock request was approved by the Device Unlock software (didn't need to use other means). However, I am stuck on Marshmallow and the device won't update to Nougat (get the error "phone not registered", despite it being unlocked). Hilarious. But at least the phone is functioning now.
Followed the same ODIN method and flashed the latest 7.0 image (Nov 2017 patch). Thankfully, it retained the unlock. Not sure if it can upgrade (I don't see the "not registered" error) but I won't know till there is a release.
Briefly got an annoying "com.sec.vsimservice stopped working" error - booted into Android recovery, wiped cache and did a factory reset. Working now!
Had already tried rooting this version (using both CF Auto Root and TWRP), but in vain, so not harbouring hopes now. Will get back to it later.
