My i19082 goes into a constantly repeating reboot cycle if the "Sync" function is activated. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?
Thanks in advance for any comments.

More details? Rooted, or installed any custom mods or etc? Try factory reset, if else not working then you will have to flash your firmware again.

Thanks for the response. I'm a novice - how do I find out if the phone is Rooted? How do I do a factory reset? Or, where can I find information on these issues?

Alright, if like that means you haven't play anything on your phone yet, To resolve that, go to Settings > Backup and reset > factory reset your device.
Warning all apps will be lose your apps and all will be reset to default. (*just like you have newly bought your phone)
You can backup your SMS messages using SMS Backup & Restore app. Search for it in Playstore, If you want to backup your contacts, just export your contacts to SD card.

Is there anything that I could try first that isn't so catastrophic that it wipes out everything on the phone ? . . .

Or, you can try remove all your account and add them again then disable the Sync, See if it helps, if not, try reset your phone. If you are very unlucky even after reset the problem still presist, you should sent to Samsung Service Centre, maybe is hardware related issue.
Hi,
posting here because I think most experts are arround on this board.
I have the problem that my S3 keeps crashing randomly. I don't know what is causing the crash. Its happening when I open the Chrome browser while some page is loading. Sometimes its crashing when I open Hangouts or WhatsApp. Some times its even crashing when I navigate through the phone settings...
I had the feeling that this started happening since Samsung / T-Mobile rolled out Android 4.3 to my device. So I did a upgrade of the firmware from 4.2 to 4.3. Because I had this feeling that my provider f**** things up and my phone started to crash because of this upgrade I flashed the custom rom Cyanogen Mod to my Device. This has not solved my problem
So at the moment I am running the S3 with Android 4.4.2 cyanogen MOD stable release.
What else can I do to locate / solve the issue? I already tryed to uninstall multiple app's without any changes.
Thanks for all your help
Do a factory Reset. Then do not restore any apps. Leave it be. See if it is stable.
If that does not help, then go to recovery, wipe, data, Dalvik & Cache. Re-Flash CM. Do not restore anything.

Are you rooted?
If not, backup your data and do a factory reset.
No i am not rooted. This is my first android phone and i have a lot of apps and contacts on my phone. How can i save them before resetting the device ?
Thanks
In case you're actually in need of a factory reset you can sync your contacts & apps to your Google account. Probably they are already there. You can also check the LG backup & reset in Settings.

You can use SuperBackup App from the market. Here is the link --> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.idea.backup.smscontacts&hl=en
With this u can backup Contact,SMS, Apps (w/o data).
As the multitasking button is a softkey, so i believe its a software based issue and 90% chances are that Factory reset should solve your problem.
Try this and revert back.
Thank you very much this has worked !
Hello again guys,
So i've done factory reset .and all and as i mentioned before everything returned to normal...for a week! And this problem occured once again and i really don't want to do any reset again.
Thanks
Hi
Recently I bought an A5 (2017) cell phone, but I'm facing terrible performance issues (lagging, delays, crashes and noise during sound playback).
Additionally I get the message that com.android.providers.downloads.ui is causing performance issues. (unfortunately I'm not allowed to post screenshots.)
Interestingly when I use the "Device Maintenance" in Setting and clean the RAM, the problem is gone. I tried to close the apps one by one to find out the one that is causing the problem, but I wasn't able to do so.
I tried freezing com.android.providers.downloads.ui by cmd appops set <package_name> RUN_IN_BACKGROUND ignore and the problem was solved, but when I wanted to use Play Store, it said that I had to enable Downloads app.
Any help would be appreciated.

As I said, I can freeze the package, but when I open Play Store it says that it needs Downloads app to be enabled.

Thanks for reply.
I did wipe cache and it seemed to fix the problem but after a while the problem was back. I can't root my phone and there is no option for wiping dalvik in recovery mode.
About last option, does flashing stock ROM delete my apps and data? And where can I download stock ROM?

Flashing the ROM won't delete anything on your phone.Visit SamMobile and look for your model to get the correct ROM(Instructions can be found on the site)Also click thanks!?
You have been deleting things. This has caused the "com.android.providers.downloads.ui" error. Use Odin to flash your firmware to restore everything to normal. When you flash the firmware, choose home_csc to avoid deleting your data. Otherwise you will lose everything

I don't know how you got that I've been deleting things, maybe because of my bad English, but I haven't.
Actually, I started to disable (or freeze) the Download Manager after I received the "com.android.providers.downloads.ui" error many times.
I really prefer not to flash my phone, because it's really hard for me to install the apps again.
It will be great if you could suggest a way to overcome the problem without losing my apps or data.

Sorry....I see you are not rooted. That's fine.
Option 1....downgrade Google Play Services - locate in apps and uninstall updates. This will revert to an earlier or factory setting.
Test it and let me know

That's wrong actually you just flash the ROM,I did it multiple times and no he can't delete system stuff in order to cause those errors otherwise phones would have been complete trash.I really don't know why it's trash since it's brand new though?

I mispunctuated my reply earlier. No big deal.
I was on the understanding that if the CSC is flashed as part of the main firmware installation everything goes however, if HOME_CSC is flashed, data remains.

There is no such option as "uninstall updates" in Google Place Services in app section. And the disable button is grayed out. I googled, and it seems I need to root my phone to be able to downgrade Google Play Services.

Hi. Sorry - just seen this.
Okay. In Apps section, tap the 3dots at the top right of the screen and select "Show system apps".
When loaded, scroll down to "Google Services Framework". Tap it. Tap Disable.
Reboot. Repeat process to then enable. Reboot. See what we have.
It's just a case of diagnostics now, if you want to avoid the flash route (we'll try and keep that as last resort - but you will not lose data using my method above)

I downgraded the Google Play Services, but unfortunately it didn't work. The problem is same and additionally Media app (containing Downloads and Download Manager) is draining my battery too.

It's driving me crazy!!!
When I disable MTP Host the battery draining and performance issues are gone, but of course some the other necessary features would be out of access too.
I was wondering if there is any way to update or replace MTP Host!?
Since the last update o to UI 5, my camera settings are not accessible. When activated the menu flashs for maybe 2 seconds and then disappears. I dont want to have to reset my phone to factory. Help plz
Don't upgrade/update firmware if you don't want to break things...
Try in safe mode to rule out a 3rd party app causing it.
Clear system cache.
Clear cam app data.
Check for cam app updates.
If those fail, factory reset and hope that works.
If that fails it will need to be reflashed and/or rolled back. A Samsung Experience center at best buy can do that for you.
