Are you rooted?
If not, backup your data and do a factory reset.
No i am not rooted. This is my first android phone and i have a lot of apps and contacts on my phone. How can i save them before resetting the device ?
Thanks
In case you're actually in need of a factory reset you can sync your contacts & apps to your Google account. Probably they are already there. You can also check the LG backup & reset in Settings.

You can use SuperBackup App from the market. Here is the link --> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.idea.backup.smscontacts&hl=en
With this u can backup Contact,SMS, Apps (w/o data).
As the multitasking button is a softkey, so i believe its a software based issue and 90% chances are that Factory reset should solve your problem.
Try this and revert back.
Thank you very much this has worked !
Hello again guys,
So i've done factory reset .and all and as i mentioned before everything returned to normal...for a week! And this problem occured once again and i really don't want to do any reset again.
Thanks

Okay so I was just on my phone, i took the battery out, took the sim out and put it all together and turned it on and for some reason there is no tf3d, the bottom links are calendar and contacts, there is nothing on the main screen apart from the htc logo and the start menu is the normal windows mobile one!#
Whats happened?!
Any help how to fix?
Thanks, Chris
What had you done before you turned the device off? What did you install? Sounds like something was installed before and needed a reset to take effect.
Have a look in the remove programs and remove anything you recently installed, should fix it then after soft reset.
Tried that, nothing happened... After I restarted it was the same so I did the delete data reset thing and its fine... Just need to reinstall my apps etc now.
Thanks, Chris

Occasionally TF can get stuck when loading, a soft reset can normally fix this, also it's possible that you had unticked it in start / settings / personal / today.

Hey Guys!
My Android Market stopped work after update to UK 3.4.2-117
When I was with FW2.21. It's OK.
I already tried to Clean Data, Cache... another Google Account... with 3G and WiFi, but nothing...
When I trying to download anything from Market... It's write "start downloading..." Then dissapear and nothing...
Sorry about my english...
Thanks a lot!
This happens to me sometimes too. When it starts downloading, go back into the app info screen and watch the progress bar.
I tried, but the progress bar show me "starts downloading" then dissapear and appear after 1 second in the same screen, for example I'm getting Angry Birds -> Install -> OK -> Download screen with progress bar -> dissapear before download -> appear "Angry Birds Free" not installed... If I install another program from my SD It's appear normally "Installed".
Thanks!
I have the same problem with the market. Help plase.
Up!
The problem persists
I got that, too, some time ago with my x10 mini. I needed to wipe the market data and created a new google mail account, though its a known googlebug and there its no 100% working fix for that.
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
starting to have this problem takes about 5-7 tries to get something to download and install off the market going to see if wiping the market app data will help
I'm having the same problem with downloading from the Market since flashing to 3.4.2. On top of that the earpiece on my defy has just stopped working so I need to send it in for repair!
Please help!
Could one of the experts take pity on us and help us find out what's causing this?
Even if I reflash the SBF using RSD Lite it doesn't fix the problem.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received!
Fixed it!
I got it working again by doing a factory reset from recovery and then when setting up the google account I created a new account instead of using my existing account. When I went into the market I was then able to download.
I then did another factory reset and used my old account and I was still able to download things from the market.
Hope this works for the rest of you.
i believe contrem is the best way to sort it out.. otherwise you might need to reflash using "RSD Lite".

I did the recovery, create a new account in google, but the problem still here...
I have the same problem with the market heeeeelp pleaseee!!!
I also have this problem recently. Seems to happen after I setup some email accounts. But removing those email accounts didn't help. Also tried cleaning cache/data etc but that didn't help neither.
I've given up. I can download almost everything anyway (I read Chinese )
I have finally solved by problem. Clearing Market cache is not enough. Have to terminate Market, set locale to English (US), and turn off wifi before restart Market. After the terms and conditions show up, can set locale back to your preference and turn on wifi again.
UHUL! Finally I fixed my market
I entered in the Stock Recovery Mode and Wipe Data. Doing that you will reset your phone.
I'm using Froyo (2.2)
This is the guide to enter Recovery mode
1 - Power off your Phone
2 - Long Press the Volume Down Button, then Press the power button to power on your Phone
3 - When you see the Green Android Robot, press the Volume Down+Up (together) Button
4 - Use menu with the volume up/down and power button to confirm.
Thanks! and Good Luck!
So, i have been quietly been looking over the forums and have noticed that alot of users have "accidentally" deleted/disabled/removed their stock LG Launcher (com.lge.launcher2). This causes you to swipe UP to unlock your screen and be presented with a blank black screen.
While everyone is freaking out/pulling out their hair/swapping phones with their local dealer, i have come up with a way to get back to a launcher and go from there. I am not saying this is a fix for the stock launcher, i am merely showing a way to get back to a launcher PERIOD, the rest is up to someone more qualified than I.
This is assuming you have Rooted your phone (which got you into this mess in the first place)
1. If needed (as in, you can't get emails etc) then Hard Reset (battery pull, hold power and volume down, push power button twice)
2. when it reboots, go through the wizard and setup your email.
3. Using a computer, take the .APK i have posted here (ADW launcher) and email to yourself as an attachment. your phone will sound off when that email arrives.
4. Swipe down, open the email and install the attachment.
5. Reboot and Welcome back to the launcher!!
This worked for me when my ADW Launcher was wiped by a backup (my own fault, i will admit) and i just reinstalled GO Launcher from the market after that.
I ran into this little problem the first time I rooted my phone. I debloated it and then thought of running a factory reset - the problem was I froze the stock LG Home launcher so I had no UI.
I was able to fix it by texting myself a www.google.com URL. I read the text through notifications, clicked the linked and it opened the browser. From the browser I entered the Market's URL and I navigated to NoBloat's page. I went to install it and there it gave me the option to open the app from which I was able to to unfreeze LG Home and then restart my phone
Well there ya go, another way to get around this problem!!
Thanks aimhelix for your alternate workaround! Let's keep this up, i am sure these aren't the only ways to fix this problem!
hard reset

aimhelix, a bit unrelated question... was reading your other post about debloating and you've mentioned doing a hard reset.
So, here it goes:
Is going to Settings -> Privacy -> Factory data reset and resetting data does the same thing as
- Turn off phone, wait a few seconds.
- Press HOME + VOL DN + POWER until you see a warning for Hard Reset
- Press Power 2x to confirm?
Thanks in advance.

It's hard to do that when you don't have a launcher...and by the way, you don't need press HOME button or pull the battery out, VOLUP + POWER is enough
I just threw the battery pull in for the noobs that didn't know when the phone was actually off! lol!!

No, not quite. A hard reset will wipe your internal SD card. I factory reset won't but it will also wipe user account info from the phone.

Well, actually there is an option to wipe the microSD card using Factory Reset method. If you check this option, the card will be wiped.
While looking for an answer on other threads, my take is - these two methods are the same. Just wanted to get an extra opinion, since I'm completely new to android. Actually, this is for my son's Nitro phone
Thanks for your reply though. I followed your directions disabling the bloatware, very helpful

install it how
through adB?
my pc wont detect phone
Just go to the site, login with your google account (the one you used on the phone)
Then hit the "install" button of the app (this all on the site, nothing need to be downloaded to your computer)
All this assuming you had added google account on the phone before the problem started.

goto google play website and install it to your phone from there.
OR follow the unbricking guide in my signature which will allow you to revert to stock, AND install custom roms if you so desire
My i19082 goes into a constantly repeating reboot cycle if the "Sync" function is activated. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

More details? Rooted, or installed any custom mods or etc? Try factory reset, if else not working then you will have to flash your firmware again.

Alright, if like that means you haven't play anything on your phone yet, To resolve that, go to Settings > Backup and reset > factory reset your device.
Warning all apps will be lose your apps and all will be reset to default. (*just like you have newly bought your phone)
You can backup your SMS messages using SMS Backup & Restore app. Search for it in Playstore, If you want to backup your contacts, just export your contacts to SD card.

Or, you can try remove all your account and add them again then disable the Sync, See if it helps, if not, try reset your phone. If you are very unlucky even after reset the problem still presist, you should sent to Samsung Service Centre, maybe is hardware related issue.
On a 2013 LTE Nexus 7 with the latest 5.0.2 installed, my home button doesn't work. The back and recent apps buttons work fine, but the home button doesn't do anything. Like the rest of the buttons, it responds to touch with an animation, but it doesn't take me home, ever, and it also doesn't launch Google Search on hold. I've read in other posts that there should be a "Home" menu option in Settings under the Device section, but I don't have that either. Another oddity, quick settings pulldown from the status bar isn't working. I can pull down the notification tray, but cannot pull down the quick settings above it.
Doing some tinkering of my own, I can tell you the following:
Wiping the data partition resolves the problem, but I'm trying to keep my user accounts, home screens, apps intact, hence my continued search for solution
Using a different launcher (Google Now Launcher via Play Store), the home button works fine but I'd rather use the default system Launcher
Reflashing the factory system image doesn't resolve the problem
There are no force close error messages
Clearing data/cache for the Launcher app doesn't resolve the problem
Clearing all cached data (through the storage menu option within settings, for each user) also doesn't resolve the problem
I have been tinkering (root, multirom, etc) but right now I'm on a fresh, unrooted factory system image, but with my "dirty" data partition (I'm trying to keep my user accounts, home screens, apps intact)
Any ideas of what might be upsetting the Launcher app? Next steps?
Same here.
I haven't tried your entire list, but I've done a few of them. Oddly, when i hit "recent apps", i can then hit "home" and it works. But that's the only time. And my notifications seem to be dead, as well as quick settings...
Background: I'm all stock. I got a system update notice for 5.1.1, which i was pretty sure i already had. So while checking my current OS version, I ended up verifying that i was up to date already. Shortly thereafter, the home button stopped responding and the tablet froze up. I can't remember if it rebooted by itself or if i had to long press the home button to get it to turn off. But when it came back on, it's like everything went factory reset (all the homescreens returned to factory), but all my apps are still there in the app drawer, but they all act as if i just installed them. I have to go into them and re-login to all of them and change all their settings to how i like them. And the homescreens will need to be redone. And the "home" button and notifications still don't work. Tried Nova, but that doesn't fix any of the issues for me. I may try the Google Now Launcher next.
It looks like ahoyboyhoy has tried flashing factory image and it doesn't help, so i'm not going to factory reset if I'll be stuck in the same situation in the end.
To follow up on *my* experience with this problem, I ended up having to format the data partition, so basically a full factory reset. After that, everything was back to normal and I restored apps from a backup.

Thanks for the update! Were you stock? If so, what was the best way you found to do a backup/restore of apps? Did it handle app data? I tried using Helium a few years ago on an HTC device, but I ran into problems that couldn't be overcome. Does Android's built-in backup option work well? I never have had good app data recovery with the buil-in option...

I was stock rooted and I think I used My Backup Pro. Not sure if you need a paid version or root access to backup app data, but I was able to back up apks+data and although it wasn't as seamless as a TWRP backup, it was better than doing things manually.
