Nexus 5X never gives option to answer phone calls - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Whether the screen is off or on you can hear the phone ringtone, but are never given a notification to answer or dismiss the phone call. Is this something that others have seen? If so any way to remedy the issue without a factory reset?

[Q] Can we get this stopped??

Howdy all,
My phone has just started a vibration when a call is ended, and I can find nothing that has made any change that is causing this to happen. I cannot find where or what setting is making the dang thing vibrate when a call is ended! It's getting on my nerves,,,,
I'm using the stock jeley bean with the native dialer and have tried all I can think of!
If someone knows if this is supposed to happen, or how I can stop it, please tell me!
It never did this for as long as I can remember, but I don't know what the heck has happened, and I cannot make that vibration stop.
Many thanks!
Solved via factory restore. over kill for a small problem, but had no alternative. Saddddd!

Thanks,
I did all those obvious things, and it wouldn't work!
I did the Factory restore, and for a day, all was good. After all that work, it's back vibrating again! I did NOTHING and installed NOTHING after the factory restore, and it was fine...... for 1 day, and now it's vibrating every time I hang up on a call. WTF???
Hmmmm interesting. Your phone is possessed xP... OK back to being serious lol. is your phone rooted and if so what custom ROM are you running?

[Q] Stock Phone App does not Hang Up

If somebody calls me and that somebody hangs up, the stock phone app automatically hangs up the call.
But, if I call somebody, and that somebody hangs up, the stock phone app keeps the line open. I have to manually end the call. Why doesn't the phone app figure this out?
Anybody else experiencing this? I have been for a long time, but just haven't posted about it.
Stock ROM, unlocked bootloader, not rooted, 4.2.2 Yakju. JDQ39.
Have you tried deleted Phone App cache and data? Last year I had an issue where my phone was randomly dialing the last person I called. Wiping cache and data solved the quirk.

That didn't work. Thanks for the help. Any more idea?
Now, some more information... 2 other people at work have the same phone. One with stock android, one with AOKP. Same problem...
It only occurs when you call somebody on a land line. If you call somebody on the same mobile network and they hang up, my phone hangs up immediately.
Also, it turns out that my phone (and the 2 others at work) do eventually hang up. It takes 25 seconds to figure out that the other person has hung up... so not as much of a problem, but still, not very clean.

SMS notification stays in the notification panel?

I've noticed that for some reason when I get a text (SMS or MMS) the notification stays in the drop down notification panel even after I check the text. The only way to get rid of the notification is to "swipe" it away. I would think that as soon as you went into the text window the notification would disappear? Not sure what changed or event when it started happening, but it's VERY annoying.
I'm on wicked v.8
That's strange. On Wicked V8, and it's working like it's supposed to.
yes, very strange. Do you think by going into app settings - clearing data and cache would help?

Nope, didn't work. I feel like it has to do with some setting in notification. It's really weird because I'm using the stock e-mail app, and there's no problem there.
Any other ideas?
I had this problem before what I did was go into application manager the scroll down to BadgeProvider and clear the cache and data then force stop it then restart your phone it should work as it did for me. Hope it works for you.

Screen won't turn on for incoming calls

Hi. I bought the Note 8 (Verizon) last week, and everything seemed fine, but then 2 days ago the screen simply won't turn on when I have an incoming call. The phone rings, but the screen won't come on. I have to unlock the phone, and swipe down the notification bar just to answer the call. I've googled around but can't find an answer to this issue for this particular phone. Any suggestions/ideas?
Maybe give a factory reset a go.

I was actually forced to do a hard reset this morning. The phone would NOT come on, no matter what I tried, couldn't even go into Safe Mode. Problem still persists. I'm actually thinking of exchanging it since I'm within the 14 day period.

Hard reset....As in power off and on right? Try booting into recovery mode and deleting cache and data.

I've now performed 2 factory resets, disabled AOD (for testing) and kept it on for other tests...same outcome. The screen will not come on when I have an Incoming call.

I've tossed the screen protector after 1 day because it kept making a clicking sound on the top corner. No case on it.

Tried that-no change. It's hard to believe that this phone has pretty much everything going for it...except turning on the screen for an incoming call.

3 Factory Resets later, booting into Safe Mode, not downloading ANYTHING else, same scenario. Verizon is shipping a replacement to my house, I should have it by Tuesday. The Tech at the Verizon Store actually called my phone so I could show him the lack of screen activation. He said he's never seen this before either.
FIGURED IT OUT! Settings--Display&Lights--Turn off double tap to wake-up to solve issue! ...
This was set somehow, I disabled that and now my phone properly lights up for calls and I can actually answer them.

they know absolutely **** about anything
I never use retail store
Another way to fix this is to call yourself on another phone while your Note 8 screen is on. When the call comes in, don't answer but slide down the notification bar and you will see your call. Adjust notifications to not block/be silent.

I went into Settings, Display, but nothing about double tap to wake-up. Samsung runs on AMOLED and that function is on other screens like Sony Xperias.
I do notice another thing going into Notifications settings and I see that the Phone app is Muted. I don't know how to get out of it.
The solution is the person who posted above. You call yourself, and swipe to unblock Silence notifications for your phone app. It's weird how it was set that way, but that's the best solution!
How do I unmute phone call notifications?
Thanks! My incomimg calls now appear on my screen!
I tired the unblock silence notifications and that still has not fixed it as well as a hard reset. Anyone else got any suggestions?
Thanks
Ian
Fix to dark screen on incoming call
Step 1: call youself
Step 2: swipe down on notification bar to view the call(usually how you would answer while dealing with this issue)
Step 3: swipe the call to the right and click the setting wheel.
Step 4: select "do not hide notifications"
Step 5: test call after doing this with the screen off, its should work.

I keep my phone in mobile stand while drinking. However, while driving the when automatically switches on. I have tried disabling multiple options like double tap to wake, wake phone on pick up, disabling notifications etc, but no luck.

Reset the device. When you setup, don't add your email and continue. Once you reach the launcher, add your email address, install applications and configure settings.
