I've noticed that for some reason when I get a text (SMS or MMS) the notification stays in the drop down notification panel even after I check the text. The only way to get rid of the notification is to "swipe" it away. I would think that as soon as you went into the text window the notification would disappear? Not sure what changed or event when it started happening, but it's VERY annoying.
I'm on wicked v.8
That's strange. On Wicked V8, and it's working like it's supposed to.
yes, very strange. Do you think by going into app settings - clearing data and cache would help?

Nope, didn't work. I feel like it has to do with some setting in notification. It's really weird because I'm using the stock e-mail app, and there's no problem there.
Any other ideas?
I had this problem before what I did was go into application manager the scroll down to BadgeProvider and clear the cache and data then force stop it then restart your phone it should work as it did for me. Hope it works for you.

Hi guys,
I'm not really new here but this is my first post. I've been reading xda forums for days now and it's nothing but good info and helpful tips. Just wanted to thank you guys for all your hard work. With that said, my phone just stopped notifying me that I have a voicemail completely. I checked my voicemail box today because my friend told me he left me a message about something. I had 8 new voicemails that I didn't check. I'm running Auto task killer so it kills all apps I've checked when I turn off the screen. Do I need to uncheck something from there for me to get voicemail notifications??? I'm not new to Android but when it comes to knowing what I'm exactly killing, I'm lost. There are bunch of apps running like com.htc.....and etc and I don't know what they are. So if you guys could please give me some help to get my voicemail notification to work I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

You can try to update your profile under system updates then reboot your phone.
i will give that a try. thank you very much for your super quick response.
Still nothing. I'm confused.

Rather than start a new thread...
Just today, I started getting a notification that a voicemail was pending, then that it couldn't be downloaded. I dialed into my voicemail, retrieved the vm and then... the darn notification won't go away.
I went into Settings and tried removing it. Didn't help.
I rebooted the phone. Didn't help.
I called the VM number, made sure there were no messages there. Same thing.
Any ideas?
Using the OTA2.2 and I have installed the OTA VM upgrade/update.
Open your voicemail, - press the menu button - settings - notifications - see if the check mark is on, select a ringtone. Back out completely, reboot your phone.

Should the check mark be in the Notifications box or not?
Should I try selecting a different ringtone??
I unselected the check that was there and rebooted; still have the notification. That seems really crazy to me.

I've actually had two new voicemails since then- they showed up. When I listened to them, it disappeared and then reappeared a minute later.
On the phone w/Sprint right now.

Having the same problem, did you get it fixed and if so please tell me how.
UPDATE: Found the fix in case anyone else has this problem
Settings/Applications/Manage Applications/Voicemail/Clear data
- This will wipe out your old Inbox messages but your filesystem will come clean

After about 1/2hr on the phone with Sprint, that was the exact same fix they came up with.
Actually a nice discovery, as that directory has a lot of nice options.
holy bumpination.
instead of hitting clear data you can force stop and reboot and that should fix it.
(force stopping and then clicking on the visual voicemal icon should be ok too)
Waterboy is right! it's much easier and you don't lose your voicemails!
I'm having a notification issue I was wondering if anyone else might have experience with. I use handcent, and I'm getting double notifications for some reason. I've used it for a long time and know how to turn off the factory settings, and they are! I just don't understand why the damn white envelopes keep coming in and two different tones when the notification us clearly turned off.???

Are you positive that the receive box for the default MMS app is unchecked? Double check, also try clearing defaults. This is all I can think of as of the moment

EVERYTHING is unchecked, I'll try clearing defaults though.
I even thought about just removing the stock messaging app, but I read some where that will cause problems.
So weird problem started a couple days ago. When I'm navigating using Google Maps, it only shows the bird's eye view instead of the 3D view that I'm always used to?
I've looked all over in the settings and can't figure it out.
Anyone suggestions?

Right, NORMALLY that would do it, but it doesn't in my case. So frustrating. WTF?
I tried seeing if I could get the problem and couldn't. Instead all my maps turned grey
Reset the data and cache of that app and see if that fixes it.

That is what worked for my wifes phone at first. I had to delete cache and data, then uninstall and install the app again. Seems to have fixed it for a while now. The screen was also flickering a lot while in navigation.

well.... have you tried using two finger, swipe downwards...
I had this problem recently.
You must get a fix on GPS signal to have the mode revert from bird's eye view.
But if you still experiencing the issue, clear the cache, uninstall Google Maps and reinstall. Lock on a GPS signal and it will go back.
Make sure you have clicked on the blue arrow as well so that's not causing it either.
I am rooted and uninstalled talkback and after every reboot, I see the talkback hand icon with the "talkback is enabled" in the notification bar. The temporary fix is to go into Accessability and turn off one or everything (varies time to time) that uses it and turn it back on, after this, talkback no longer shows in notification bar. At this point, it is gone until a reboot, in which it shows again.
I have even tried reinstalling talkback, disabling and freezing it then uninstalling, no change.
How can I get rid of this?

Nobody?? This is driving me bonkers and I refuse to believe nobody else has this issue or can help me out
Try uninstalling, then delete dalvik cache and cache in recovery
Do you have Tasker or any other app which interacts with notifications.

tried disabling both others 1 by 1, no change
Using a File Explorer. Go in and make sure to delete the Folder that the app created. There may be something in there, that is causing the issue. Also if you are no longer going to use the App, there is no need for it to have a folder.

I ran a search with Root Explorer and found 4 results for "talkback"... all of which are on my external card as backups to versions of the app. Just got good measure I deleted and rebooted, issue remains.

musta missed this post, sorry. Tried this, issue remains.
I think your not removing the app correctly. It's remaining either in the apps folder or the system folder. There is something which is reinitializing the app and creating all the folders you already fou d.

I am uninstalling the app via ROM Toolbox. I freeze then uninstall it through that app. How might you suggest?
On the phone itself settings>apps, >all apps or go into your root explorer go to system apps and delete it right in there and reboot. Go back in and make sure it's gone. Right now your using a 3rd arty app to remove another app instead of going g to the root source.

Go into Menu - Settings - Application manager - All. Scroll down till you see the App. Tap on it. Tap Force stop. Tap Clear Data. Tap Uninstall. Then just as a precaution Reboot. It should then be gone.

It is not there as I have uninstalled it and can find no trace anywhere with any app or system app.
Reinstalled it so I could follow these steps. Followed EXACTLY as you suggestion. Force Stop, Cleared Data, Uninstall. At this point, it is again removed from the app list (as it was minutes ago). Rebooted and icon STILL shows after reboot. Confirmed Talkback app is not in App Manager. Used Root Explorer to ensure "talkback" is NOWHERE in my phone and verified it is removed from Accessibility screen.
I know how to uninstall an app, but it seems this sucker is embeded into the stock ROM somehow. Other ideas? Nobody else having this issue on Sprint S3?
After opening Accessibility and sitting on that page, the icon goes away after ~1-3minutes and/or clicking on any app that uses Accesibility, but will show again after next reboot.
UPDATE: I went and uninstalled EVERY app that used Accessibility (after MUCH hesitation and backing up the settings several times). Icon still remained. Rebooted and GONE!!!!! OMFG! A complete uninstall did it. Now to reinstall those I NEED and pray!
Hope it stays sorted. Try not to restore any data, or very little.

At this point I'd recommend a Full Wipe, and Flash.
It will always show up after reboot if u have anything turned on in accessibility-services settings. Go to accessibility scroll down to services and see what u have on and turn it off and the icon will go away turn it back on to use whatever u had turnded on

why will it always show up after reboot?
I'm getting no sms notifications (not in status bar or SMS tone) and I can't link my ring tone and SMS tone volume. Even with aftermarket ringer apps. The options r grayed out. Has this happened before?
I was rooted, then unrooted and went back to stock ROM. Using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1904099
Any help would be appreciated.

Did you restore data when you went back to stock?
If so, I'd try to factory data reset and configure your phone from scratch loading no data.
i did restore data, then did another factory reset. still had the same issue. i'll try it again.

I'm more worried that you aren't getting any notifications for SMS.
Are you using the stock Messaging app?
Are the notifications turned on (stupid question I know but its a question that needs asking sometimes)
