Screen Brightness - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

I've noticed that the difference between the lowest setting and the brightest setting is not that great. In other words, the screen doesn't get that dim or that bright.
Has anyone noticed this and does anyone know a fix?

How does the autobrightness function? IE Normally.

I've noticed with my GNEX that it seems like all of the sudden it won't auto dim. When I unlock the device it will brighten if needed, however if I walk into a dimmer area it will not auto dim. Is this the normal behavior for the light sensor?
I'm used to my Xperia Play which would constantly adjust the screen up and down.
My auto-brightness setting sets the screen brightness lower than the lowest actual brightness setting regardless of whether I'm in light or dark.
There's a fix for it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377410&highlight=auto+screen+brightness
I haven't tested that out though.

Yea I was worried maybe the brightness sensor was not working since. Turns out my wife's droid 2 with CM7 acts the same way. Lowest setting until you unlock at which time it only increases the brightness, never decreasing.

Screen is set on Auto-Brightness and having some trouble.

I have my S3 screen set to auto brightness. For some odd reason, yesterday, I got an incoming call and the screen was some dim ,I could not make out who the caller was. Anyone else experiencing this problem? Advice? Thanks!

I agree, the stock auto brightness is terrible. I'm considering installing a 3rd party app to control brightness. Used to run Lux Auto Brightness on my E4GT and it worked pretty good.

Sometimes display is extremely dim.

Sometimes when I'm in a dimmer area, my display will be so dim I can hardly see it. This doesn't happen in brighter areas.
For reference, it is far far dimmer than brightness setting 1. I have the watch set to auto brightness and ambient off.
Anyone else seeing this?
Yeah, it seems that the 360's auto brightness setting is (at least sometimes) pretty aggressive in low light conditions.
Same here, and I hate that. I always have to go into the settings when the room light is dim, and switch off auto brightness and change to the 1 setting.

I'm almost positive it's a bug, the low brightness of 1 isn't too bright for very dark situations and the dimmed mode is simply too dim.
I'm pretty sure auto-brightness should turn on at level 1 (if it's dark) and then go to the ultra-dimmed mode before the screen times-out just like in normal brightness.
I don't think I've seen this bug happen in the daytime though, so it does seem like a bug at brightness level 1 only
Any solution to this problem? Drives me crazy.
Thanks
Smart Brightness for Moto 360
Try Smart Brightness for Moto 360. This application allows to set auto brightness with a minimum brightness to avoid a dimm screen on dark situations.

Screen dimming itself on stock roms

Has anyone noticed this? I have auto brightness set off but the screen dins itself when the screen is white for example. I've seen an option on some android phones to adjust the screen to dave battery bit i can't find it on this phone. Is there any way of disabling this it's really annoying. I'm using cm now for this reason only but I would like to use stock but the dimming annoys me too much.

I believe this is a feature to protect your eyes. If auto-brightness is off and it dims on a white screen it's because that amount of brightness can strain your eyes.

Auto Display goes to really dim setting sometimes

I leave my phone set for Adaptive Brightness.
First, it's annoying that setting the manual brightness to max and then turning on Adaptive Brightness means that I can't achieve super dim display in dark.
Anyhow, so I leave my phone set to Adaptive Brightness all the time.
And it usually adjusts my display bright or dim(ish) as needed.
Then randomly it'll just go to the absolute dimmest setting and stay there even after a reboot.
I have to toggle Adaptive Brightness off and back on again.
Anyone else seeing this behavior?
I think it's time to give Lux Brightness app another shot.
Hopefully they've worked out the bugs since the last time I used it.

I've not had any issues with mine, do you have a tempered glass screen protector that covers the sensor on the front of the phone? It may be detracting light confusing the sensor.
Nope, no covers. Nekid phone here.
