Try to just do a hrd reset and don't restore anything. i have the FD variant, and i'm hacing 4 to 5 hrs SOT

If you have a problem take it back and get it sorted.
I, to date, have not had a problem with either of my devices. IF one comes be assured it will be going back. 1.5 hours SOT is absurd. Ensure that the situation is not of your own doing then take it back.
Let us know how you get on. :good:

Return it, it's not the norm. I constantly get 5-6 hours with wifi, bluetooth, location (power savings) all on. I use package disabler pro to debloat and screen auto brightness. You may have a rough app.
i would take it back....the battery on my replacement has been much better then the original

Man setting it up all again is just a headache. I used smart switch so i dont see what the problem would be. I am doing a final test today to see how it goes. then ill decide. Ill do a cache reset.
Did you use Smart Switch to migrate to your new phone? Some apps don't like to be transferred. I used Smart Switch to move from my Note5>Note7 and it went fine. With the exception of any apps that work through Android Auto which I had to uninstall/reinstall. When I used Smart Switch to go from Note7>Note7 I've noticed really high Android System usage compared to my original Note7 which was set up identically. I'm going to do a hard reset and rebuild my phone from scratch over the weekend. And like @mrloootz said it's a royal pain in the a$s. For those that went from one Note7 to another and are experiencing funkiness it has got to be s/w. The h/w is what it is meaning h/w alone couldn't be so different from one device to another to cause different performance or battery life.

Exactly! everyone that have a bad battery on N7 have Android system first in battery stats... Screen on Time should always be nr1 if smth takes it place you have a draining app...

when using smart switch does it copy the games and where you are at in the level to?
Im am having similar problems. 7 % battery drain per hour without doing anything.
The first three days with my new note 7 went fine. I got the update with the green battery and hat 6-8 hours SOT. Then yesterday I suffered from hourly 7% drain.
"system-server" seems to be the service that drains the battery.
Does anyone has a solution for this problem?
P.S. I already wiped cache, restartet the phone and froze several apps like facebook or Gear VR service. Nothing helped.

Please Search for "Oculus Android Battery drain" on Google.
"Apparently, the problem is with a new part of Oculus VR known as Oculus Rooms. The Oculus VR app is getting stuck in an installation loop where it continuously downloads and reinstalls this app. You'll be able to reinstall Oculus VR once a hotfix rolls out to everyone, but removing the app is probably your best course of action right now."

Thanks for your answer. I have never installed this Oculus Room app and I never ever used a Gear Vr.
Apart from this I already have frozen all Gear VR services with package disabler pro.
Still this system_server service drains 7% per hour

Hmm, I didn't use smart switch. Reinstalled all the apps and restored launcher screen layout with nova launcher restore function.
Installed package disabler and use greenify.
Upon exchanging phone, From the initial 51% charge, i used it until 40% and charged to 100 when I got home.
From full charge, it's now 3 hours and 24 min SOT with 39% left. Not bad I guess.
I have to say my battery life is actually better on my replacement! I also took a lot of people's advice here and did a complete reinstall of my device from scratch rather than using the smart switch or any other restore option. It was a pain to do but I think ultimately it's more stable and less likely to experience battery drain.
.
Reset fixed the Problem.

Well here are my stats. I think like everyone says start from scratch no smart switch no back up restores n it should give a good battery life.
Mine was running hot and slow charging as well as draining shockingly fast. Media server was top on my list at 44%. Some digging found this https://productforums.google.com/forum/m/#!topic/chrome/EJSiLeWiN7Q
I'm note using the beta version of chrome and it's all good. May not be the same thing but don't give up

I am one of the unfortunate souls who is experiencing terrible battery life due to the AndroidOS bug. I feel like I spend half my waking hours trying to figure out what is causing it and doing different things to my phone improve my battery life.
I'm definitely getting sick of it and while I realize that Samsung/Sprint may eventually come out with a software update that fixes the problem, I'm not sure I'm willing to wait since it could take months (and the issue was supposedly fixed for GS2 phones in 2.3.4).
At this point, I'm considering going back to the Moto Photon--it's battery life is simply amazing. My only issue with the Moto is its unusable camera.
Anyone else getting as frustrated as I am and considering jumping ship to another phone?
What have you done to fix it?
Are you saying that you still have the bug even aftera factory reset ?
Why not just take it back and have them give you a new one since you obviously have a defective phone?
Also how many hours are you actually getting out of the battery?
I don't see any other phone worth switching to and I have had them all. Each with their own specific problem. But this one here is as good as it gets

I've tried just about everything that has been mentioned in the AndroidOS/battery life thread (reset, wifi, autosync) but I'm still getting only 12 hours of battery life on a good day, 8 hours on a bad day
I might try exchanging the phone, but I'm hesitant to do so due to the LOS bug (I have not experienced this with my phone as of yet).
Honestly, while I love the phone in many other ways, I'm about to throw the thing out the window since 8 hours of battery life is simply not acceptable to me

That doesn't mean anything to me. What's the display on time? How good/bad is the cellular signal?
Exchange it bro. Ive had two of these phones so far and none had this problem. I'm getting like 24-30 hours battery with like 4-5 hours screen on time. This phone had awesome battery. Download an apps called better battery stats. This will show wakelocks and processes that are draining the battery. Good luck man.

On a good day, the display is on for less than 30-45 min. On a bad day, the phone display time is somewhere between 90-120 minutes.
I pulled 16 hours ojt of my battery yesterday with over 12 on wifi and i was at 40 percent. I have to use wifi at work as i have no signal and when i do get signal its roaming. I would say that my conditions at work are far from ideal but this phone is great. My old phone would die before 1130(evo shift).

mine doesn't seem to get the android os bug unless i'm on a custom kernel. 1 week stock, no problems, 3 days on custom problems each day, back to stock + root and no problems for 48 hrs.
i still have to be 100% sure that my phone didn't like the kernel though so another test will be coming up after a few more days of observation.

I had the issue with the stock kernel and custom kernels. I'm just going to hold out until we can get a AOSP build and hope that using as little of Samsung's code fixes it.

I'm on stock and have nothing out of the ordinary installed. Out of curiosity, do you have a google account with full sync turned on?
Lol 8 12 hours isn't bad with a stock battery and 4.5 inch screen. If you are in a poor reception area it could be that. Otherwise you have alot of Apps running in the background.
My advice : root it and extended battery.

I average 15-20 hours easily on a charge, with a full sync google account
Everything Sync'd Listed below:
- Google+ Notifications
- Music
- Books
- Contacts
- Gmail
- Picasa Web Albums
- Calendar
If anything else can be Sync'd I have not run across it. I also have my Tapatalk set to notify me of PM's, and updates to Subscribed topics, I removed the accuweather widget because it only updates every 3 hours and installed Weatherbug Elite and set it to update every 30 minutes. On top of all that I browse the web regularly to visit sites that are websense'd at work, and I play dungeon hunter 2, and asphalt 6 on my lunch break. At home the phone sits on my desk until its time to pass out, only used for my Rift Mobile authenticator.
This is a real bug, with android
the system/0 process goes crazy and chews up the battery.
I get about 12 hours with everything disabled (other than gmail sync) and suspend/0 chews up battery
well documented here
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=16721
it's a gingerbread issue, if you haven't experienced on the galaxy, you will soon
I'm also considering returning this great phone with crappy software until google releases a version of android that works.
by that time there may be a new "best android phone"
Why does the bug seem to affect the gs2 more than other phones? For example, I've never seen it mentioned on the photon forums

i use my phone a lot while im at school throughout the day , i last using wifi and 3g, and if needed i can do a quick charge while i study in the car but i lasted to 60% using 3g for a few hours
I have had my Note 8 for a couple of months and just recently I have been having battery problems. I restored the Note 8 to factory settings (just to be sure) and am still having the same problem.
It seems that when I watch videos or play any games the battery depletes extremely quickly e.g Its 80%, I start to play the game and within 3-5 minutes the battery is 30%. I play again and its 5% and the screen dims (which is also a pain in the ....) I realise that Games and Apps use a lot of power but surely not this much.
I have looked around for battery calibration instructions and apps but are a bit dubious to try them as I have read that you can deplete the battery totally and the device then wont charge.
Just wondered if anybody else has had the same problem.
Thanks.
My note has a great battery life. For this situation I would look in the battery menu for any apps not closing correctly thus sucking battery. Remember to dis activate GPS, Bluetooth and data when not using them. Check the screen brightness is 50% or less. Automatic brightness should be fine also.
here's a lot of info related to batteries. I'm sure you will find it usefull

Don't waste time with calibration. Sounds like the battery ifs failing or dying, either way it's bad.

I usually have Bluetooth and GPS turned off and have the screen on Auto Brightness. I also restored to factory and the problem still persists.
One strange thing is that when I charge it from 10% it takes about 50 minutes to get to 100%. I thought that was a bit quick. The battery must be reporting the wrong charge to the OS. I wish they had user replaceable batteries in this thing although its probably not practical.
I will give Samsung a call. Cannot beleive it has happened now as I am off on holiday soon to the US and wanted to use it there.
Thanks.

same with me chas0001, and JCUK89, my situation is actually identical to chas0001, but my device is like a mth old now, i received it on august 5th 2013,
so its basically been used for jus over a mth now. and i barely use it, maybe 3 hrs a day, most days less than 1 hr, constant use.
i dont kno, can anyone help. on xda developers. ??
I called Amazon.co.uk (where I bought it from) and they agreed to replace it for me. Its was definitely faulty and unusable. I kept reading about people with the similar problems and so eventually decided to not get a replacement but a refund.
Its a shame really. I really liked the device but I need something more reliable. I also don't care for Samsung with their constantly delayed OS updates. 4.1.2 for a 'flagship' device. Surely if they get rid of that Touchwiz crap they can release timely updates. You never know even my Note 2 may get an OS update this year!

I would see of you can get it exchanged (assuming you still want to keep the device).
So recently my battery life went from absolutely amazing to terrible (just went from 100% to 83 percent with 30 min SOT and 3 hrs off the charger) does anyone know a good app that will tell me what the hell is digging through my battery life so bad? The only thing I have connected is the android wear watch, and surely that wouldn't hinder my battery life that much, would it? Thanks to anyone that replies, I just want my old battery life back.

Mine has been terrible since the NK3 OTA as well. It's a shame that they couldn't just leave it alone. I was enjoying it so much more when I was squeezing 5 hours SOT.
after taking the NK3 update, my battery life was still amazing, until tonight. I didnt update anything (no app updates and no new apps installed) but my battery went from 50% to 30% in about 10 minutes. I cleared cache and rebooted and it went from 30% to 0% in about 15 minutes. I dont understand why all of a sudden, it died so quickly. Only thing I can think of is that I switched to ART about two days ago. It was fine until this evening, when the phone completely fell on its face. It was running extremely slow, even after I killed all running apps, thats when the battery dropped. I'm switching back to dalvik and we'll see what happens.

OK guys, here is an odd question. What do you do for a living? Is there anyone that would benefit by listening in to your device? I know it sounds weird, but your phone may be active when you think it isn't, including the camera, mics, GPS etc. I get these unexplained battery drains too, and my wife has the identical device and near identical app setup (and we both have the update) and her battery is much better. Its one of only two things i can think of.
Here's the other: not using the supplied charger. I regularly use other chargers when my wife refuses to do so.
Anyway, just my mad ideas

In all honesty I went through and found a bunch of apps I personally don't use to disable, such as instagram and some other apps such as that, you may also want to see if your mobile signal is having issues or your wifi is having issues, both those items will cause battery drain, I turned off a bunch of apps and my phones been unplugged for almost 6 hours and I have over an hour of that as screen time, I'm down to 88%, I work at att so I'm always showing my phones off and demoing them, I disabled 21 apps I have no use fore and my free ram is just about a gig, you just gotta dig a bit to find what's always on.

Hi dear Team
I got my 10 plus (5g) although 3 uk is still to deliver it in order to see the speeds.
I am completely in love with the phone, for sure.
However, my problem is the battery.
Previous device was Mate 20 pro, with a battery that literally could last the full day , this one not really.
while on Mate 20 pro I would go home after 14h , with still 20% , now If I am lucky, It will have 3%
Different screen yeah, but it still feels bad.
Quality is (default) so not even enjoying the full resolution out of it.
Could you help me or tell me your experience as well?
I remember the times with my S8 that while on Roaming, I had to charge it 2 or even 3 times during the day
Thanks!

Battery life is the only thing my note 10 plus is struggling with.

Disably all power management including Samsung's and especially any carrier apps.
-Untoggle any power saving settings first.-
Disable all cloud apps. Knox junk.
Disable carrier, Samsung and Google feedback trash.
All Bixby except Bixby vision and Bixby vision framework which the cam needs.
Otherwise you need to sort through, learn which ones you want/use, and how they interact. Some bloatware you probably use and want to keep.
Some like Playstore I keep disabled unless I need it.
Each set up is different... play with it.
Do you have Bixby wake up word on?
It used 37 % of battery yesterday. Took me a week to figure this out as the battery was not doing well for me either.
Disable Bixby entirely!!

I remember the times with my S8 that while on Roaming, I had to charge it 2 or even 3 times during the day
Thanks!

Don't compare it to the Mate 20 Pro. That phone is just in a league of its own. The P30 Pro battery is even better so don't expect anything close to that as these phones are known for insane battery life.
Are you using snapdragon or Exynos?
If you are using Exynos then you won't get what the Snapdragon variant offers. Snapdragon has better battery life and this is the problem with Samsung. They should make all their phones using snapdragon chips
Hello,
Was wondering if someone has had the same experience with their note 10+.
I got my device on the 22nd of Aug and since day 1 the battery has always been showing 99% almost immediately after disconnecting from the charger.
But after that, it discharges normally. Have had no issues with SOT as well.
This wasnt the case with my note 8 and note 9. They used to stay on 100% for a while after disconnecting from the charger.
But was wondering if anyone else has had the same experience with their Note 10+.
Thank you.

I only needed to disable the always on listening for the wake-up word for my battery to get back to normal (and disable bixby routines in settings).
Battery is OK now for me - still not as good as Huawei Mate 20 Pro but good enough.

Ha-ha kill wittle Bixby... don't need no big sister.
With an Exynos variant I get 7, 7 and a half hours TOS, of course if I play games the phone won't last me all day.

I use a package blocker. Cloud services including Google's suck down the battery. I blocked Goggle Backup Transport, Framwork, Playstore and Samsung's cloud junk. I only run them when I need them.
Samsung Push, blocked.
You need to closely watch what happens when you block them and opposed to toggling them off.
They're witchy.
I actively monitor milliamp usage realtime to spot runaways. I'm running at around 140-300 ma right now.
MA closely mirrors the cpu usage.
Screen off my power usage with AOD active is around 1%@hr.
I've been running Android 10 since release and I have to say it has been the poorest experience yet since the phone first came out. It is too aggressive closing background processes. I can't have a podcast play to completion without it just closing and even forgetting where I left off. The leg is horrible and my battery life has gotten worse since pie.
Am I alone or is anyone else having a similar experience?

I like 10...No issues other then bluetooth connectivity occasionally acts up when connecting to my vehicle and running Pandora. I never cared for 9 and went back to 8.1 on my PH-1 until a stable version of 10 is available.

Other than Google headed toward completely locking down recovery, I've been happy with it. Stock, rooted, EX kernel. Not experiencing any memory or lag issues at all.
Hello,
I have the device since ~ two months. I don't have any special complaint...
Battery is rather good for the moment. September version was quite buggy..!
I think the october release improved the experience a lot...
Actually stock October image + Root + EX Kernel.
Cheers...
Sébastien.
I only have two issues, and both aren't deal breakers, but they are concerning a bit. The first is random reboots like once a week. It doesn't matter what I'm doing as it just decides to reboot. The other is a bit more concerning as it happened twice since 10 was officially released. Again it doesn't matter what I'm doing, and the screen will go black, and become unresponsive. I have to force a manual reboot, and when it tried to boot the splash screen flashes several times, and then it boots into recovery with a message "Could not load Android OS. You can try again, or do a factory resest.". I selected "Try Again", and it booted normally, but I don't like risking that. Other than those two issue it's been super smooth, and very snappy. I have no complaints about performance at all when it's working normally.
Thank you for the responses. I'll try to wipe and reinstall to see if that helps.

Glad you've mentioned the podcast problem. Same here. Either stops randomly and when going back in then it's back to the beginning. Are you using Google Podcast app?
Yes, that app has been the most frustrating. Although, iheart has given me the same problem. Nothing like listening to a 4 hour episode of Hardcore History and then losing where I was just for checking how bad I'm doing in fantasy football. Double kick in the nuts...

I liked the Android 10. Don't have problem with apps closing or RAM issues. My problem is with the battery draining. Already done a factory reset after the OTA, but the battery life is getting worse every day. Have no social networks besides WhatsApp, using a few data because I live in small town that every place that I go have wi-fi. Using pie, have 36/38 hours with 4.5/5 hours os screen. With Android 10 now have 30 hours at best with 5/5.5 SOT. Battery is draining like 2% per hour, and it really bothers me. Also, full stock here. Probably will back to Pie soon.
november update seems to have made some improvements with battery life.

Agree...I am getting almost 2 days of use if I run the device down to 10%.

Not for me no. I got the phone back in June.
The battery life on P3XL is garbage. The P3XL is 2 months old. I have a 2 year P2XL with the exact same setup and the exact same apps. The battery life on P2XL is at least 50% better, even though it has been used for 2 years.
With identical usage, the P3XL drains battery twice as fast as P2XL. I've compared multiple scenarios with identical usage on both phones.
So no amount of Vodoo magic will fix the battery in P3XL. It's just terrible. My hypothesis is the battery temperature. I have an app that measures battery temperature and the P3XL seems to have a similar problem as P1XL - it runs WARM.
The P2XL, however runs much cooler in temperature So for ex, browsing Chrome and checking email, the P3XL might be at 35-37 Celsius, but the P2XL will be at less than 25 Celsius in exact same conditions.
Charging the P3XL also make it reach sometimes 40 Celsius, playing game over 45 Celsius. The P2XL almost never goes over 30 Celsius even on heavy load.
The battery in P3XL also drains very quickly with screen usage. I think the phone suffers from poor optimization, bad thermals, overheating and a battery hungry screen.
I'm always stressed out when being out without a charger for the P3XL. With the P2XL - it's never been a problem. I only charge it after 2 days.
to me, Android 10 has been the worst update on the Pixel 3 XL.

This is exactly how I feel. Sad Google decided to lock-down recovery, but it was just a matter of time. Wouldn't be surprised if this is just another step towards eventually removing us from obtaining root. (hope not)
But other than that, I love Android 10.. I love dark mode, bluetooth has been stable for me and stock rom with EX kernel has been great. But that's also been the combo I've had on my phone for years dating back to the Nexus 6P.
Just leaving this here
And I just want a customisable navbar.
Is it so hard Google?
