I just purchased an S6 Edge from tmobile and am surprised to see I am all the way back on 5.0.2 so far with an update to 5.1 downloaded and ready to install when my battery is full enough. I assume after I update to lollipop it's gonna offer a marshmallow update.
Being a fan of root, I'm wonderinf, would it be beneficial for me to just skip the updates and stay on 5.0.2? What should I do?
Edit : Meant to post this in Q&A, not general.

Hey guys at xda-developers!
So before christmas I recieved an update for my G3 to upgrade to Android L from a rooted KitKat and I want to become rooted again. So can anylne advise me on what to do.
If there is any simple rooting method for LG Android L update.
I want to keep all my data btw.
Thanks. Ask any questions
Im new to the android world and xda so i dont know too much about ANDROID but i know a good amount
Thanks!
You can't root on lollipop, no root available as of yet. If you want root you have to downgrade to kitkat with the flashtool.
Use the LG Flash Tool to downgrade to kitkat (with a 10r build). There are a plethora of guides on how to do this.
Then you root, and install a custom ROM to get back to Lollipop. Cyanogenmod 12 works amazingly well on my D851. It's smoother than the stock ROM. However, you might be able to do the CloudyG3 ROM, which is essentially just what you have now with added features. Assuming that you got the Lollipop update a little while back, your phone sounds compatible. However, if you don't use the QuickCircle Case, I would highly suggest Cyanogenmod 12. I used the case, but made that small sacrifice for this amazing ROM.
Hope I helped!
So I been using my G3 since it came out, and I see a lot of other phones are already got the Marshmellow 6.0 update, except the Tmobile G3.
So is there anyways I can update my Tmobile G3 to Marshmellow 6.0 right now? Instead of waiting forever for Tmobile to release it? Any help would be appreciated, thx.

Yes. You can install a custom ROM like this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/development/rom-1-11-15-t3000137
If you are asking a question like this, I think it's safe to assume you haven't done something like this before (or often). I would HIGHLY suggest you do some reading before starting to mod your expensive smart phone. Always double check every file before flashing, as one mistake can leave you with a very expensive paper weight.

Flash what? that link just go to the main forums?
What is the best ROM for Tmobile G3 atm? thx
If you are looking for official LG 6.0.1, this is the best ROM in my opinion. It supports all variants including T-Mobile.

Pretty much as the title states, is it worth updating to marshmallow from kitkat? My phone has been running incredibly slow, and maybe it's time for a factory reset but should I just update to marshmallow? Thanks for your feedback.
My wife's Note 4 is having serious battery issues since it updated to Android M (as are others according to posts here) so I would recommend holding off until it is patched.
Alright, I am new to XDA but I am not new to hacking/rooting etc. That's just to clarify.
Long story short, I dislike Android marshmallow and I want to return back to my beloved 5.1.1 lollipop, I have the T-Mobile variant (SM-G925T) Updated to 6.0.1 and I rooted via CF-Auto Root and installed a Custom Rom thats 63% Stock. Anyways like I said i dislike this version and I want back 5.1.1 any tips on how or if I even can?
So, I currently have a samsung s7 active that I purchased used, unlocked but was using AT&T with the AT&T firmware on itat the time. I upgraded it to Oreo universal firmware
It's currnet running info is
Baseband: G891AUCS5CSB1
Android Version: 8.0.0
Samsung Experience version: 9.0
Android security patch level: February 1, 2019
How would I go about downgrading back to Nougat but the Universal firmware?
I'm quite new to the android system, and all the guides seem to have different steps to use and there seems to be a million firmwares for each version.
I was looking at the thread linked here, and there seems to be 3 of the same firmware that are all different somehow???
What would be the best, easiest, and quickest firmware to use and guide to follow? I want to go back to Nougat with the universal firmware and my phone to remain unlocked of course
any help is greatly appreciated. thanks!
the problem with this dam phone is the locked bootloader! snapdragon samsung sucks... PLUS it was exlusive to ATT
such a shame. a phone with an AMAZING camera even today and the BEST design for its time... only to be locked to AT&T, LOCKED snapdragon and really ****ty stock software super lame
because of this I'm not sure the thing can be downgraded
Hello, is that the case then? That the S7 Active can't be downgraded back to android v.7 Nougat ? I'm hoping that it can, as AT&T just forced the v.8 Oreo into my S7 this morning, and now I no longer have the very useful 'Usage Manager' app. =( I used it more than any other app, to enable/disable mobile data on the fly, and kill all running apps in background, etc etc.
Please let it be..... downgradable !=(
