Battery replacement - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
My battery sucks, it doesnt even last for a day. It used to endure two days. I want to buy a new one, a better one. I was searching ebay and aliexpress and found a few with much bigger capacity and I don't know if they are real or not.

3550 mAh for 10 dollars. Is it possible? I have a replacement battery that has 2800 mAh, but when it reaches like 30% it dies in a few minutes. What do you suggest?
Thank you!

No it's not possible to have higher rating than standard with a battery that is the same size. It's physically impossible using the same battery chemistry to have higher output. (many cheap ones actually hold less charge as they are made of lower quality material)
(Extender batteries are available with higher ratings but they are much bigger and need a bigger back cover)

[Q] Regarding 3500mAh battery!

Hey guys I just saw a 3500mAh battery for SGS2 on ebay. Is it safe to use such battery? I mean it won't harm the phone, will it? :O
Probably won't harm the phone, no.
I bought a 3500mAh obscurely branded Chinese battery in mid-December. Tried it out for almost two weeks, a bunch of charge/discharge cycles & estimated its real capacity was around 1900mAh. It also used to heat up a lot on recharge (mid-high 40's Celsius, which isn't normal when the phone isn't being used whilst charging).
I took it back, got a refund & bought an original Samsung 2000mAh battery. Hasn't missed a beat, is obviously close to its advertised capacity given I get around 20% more use out of a charge than I do with a 1600mAh battery.
Obviously your mileage may vary if you buy one of these (you might have a better experience than I did), just thought I'd let you know about my experience.

Well i heard that their batteries exploded in their phones......so be careful.....better pay for a better one instead of having a chance to ruin your expensive phone.

I have one of those I got from DealExtreme and it is great. It lasts 2x longer than the original Samsung battery.
I take care not to swap them often, because I am afraid that this action might damage the original cover, eventually breaking it.
Battery Life
I am still using the 1650 mAh battery (stock) for my S2.
I am really facing some battery issues. Its charging almost all day !
Yes I am using 3G all day and WiFi HotSpot too. But use wifi at home. Thats when I get good battery life. Any better way to conserve some battery ?
Any tips might help
Thanks
Got mine a few days ago from eBay and its been fine so far. It last more than 2x the regular battery. Phone does not heat up or anything strange..

well i an getting with the original battery 24H of usage.
with the 3500mah i am getting 60H of usage... so my 3500 is truly 3500mah!
the language is hebrew.
i use congnition rom 1.51 and siyah kernel.
So, where can I see a trustful review on batteries for SGS2? What is the most extended one?
It's really frustrating that my current stock battery is only enough for 2 hd video view (4-5 hours).
Also, the higher the mAh value the more battery lifetime is, right?
I would really want to buy 3500 mAh, but it costs so little.
And the official Samsung variant that offers the longest lifetime of a battery for SGS2 is this one, maybe Mugen 3500 mAh is the best choice out there?

What is the model name of the battery? Is it being overheated in comparison to stock one?
why should it overheat?
it is lithium ... same same
Yes, it's special lithium from China extracted under full moon and blessed by a thousand virgins
Really now, if it was possible to manufacture a battery having more than double the capacity of the stock battery while taking up the same volume, don't you think the megacorporate Samsung would buy that technology immediately in order to use it themselves ? "Too cheap to be true" is valid even here; most knock-off batteries either are fake ("9999 mAH SUPER EXTRA" sticker over the original rating), or will degrade quickly in time leaving you with a dud.
Since there are already fake electronic components...
... why not fake and cheap batteries too, certainly seems to be a high demand for them.
a. it is not the same volume! in is twice as much as the original.
b. the i9100 has a circuit that allows a slow stable charge rate so i dont think it will damage the battery.
As well as being made of inferior materials, not being subjected to the same QC, not having the fuel gauge chip present in original Samsung batteries, you pretty much get what you pay for.
My advice would be to avoid non-original batteries altogether, and given a 2000mAh original battery will cost around the same as one of these 3000mAh+ batteries with all their problems & poor life, it's a no brainer.
Stick with Samsung batteries.
fuel gauge chip?
i would like to see that chip in an any cellphone battery please.
If you're not aware of/don't know about the fuel gauge chip in original SGS2 batteries, you've probably been living under a rock since the phone was released

well i think that you misunderstood the meaning fuel gauge.
there is no chip in the battery that is in charge of the fuel gauge.
furthermore there is no use of recalibrating the battery in out i9100 model.
all you gave me is a link you Google...
please... show me that chip! i would like to learn something new about lithium batteries..

What about the other question that you chose to ignore, regarding the battery's model that you mentioned.
thanks for the info guys,

[Q] Toke my HOX apart, need internal HI-CAPACITY battery

Hello All,
I toke my HTC One X apart to replace the internal battery with a higher capacity one, as i've tried all the methods listed here to enhance my battery life, but it failed to survive a 12 hours idling - it seems that HTC forgot that the user might use his phone through the day -
anyway, i'm looking for an "INTERNAL" and "HIGHER-CAPACITY" like 2100mAh, 2400mAh battery to replace my 1800 mAh one, any suggestions please?
I don't believe that there is a higher capacity internal battery for the HOX. From what I've read on here is that any higher capacity battery would require the a bigger case for it. Just by opening it up you have now voided your warranty, and any third party manufacturer would not make you void your warranty to increase battery capacity. Your only option is to buy the cases that utilize the pogo pins to increase your battery
thanks for your reply teky, actually i dont care about the warranty, but i believe i can find a higher capacity battery as the iPhone one, i've bought a 2300 mAh from ebay for my old iphone and it was at the same size as its original one, the performance was amazing, it lasted about 2 days with a heavy usage.

likeliness is, if it wasn't physically bigger, then the mah was no more than the original. probably the fact that the first battery was knackered and just buying a new one seemed like it was lasting longer, when in fact it wasn't lasting any longer than a new original battery..
btw, the battery in the 1x is soft...gg, how were u planning on replacing it.

i need too an hi-capacity battery, but...is simply to remove the internal battery?
Be careful... A design flaw in the custom battery may cause it to explode.
Every battery I've read about online that promised higher capacity for the same size proved to be a fraud. The best story I saw was posted on the xda-dev forums. The user cut off the outer packaging of the battery to reveal the original battery inside, and printed on this was the real (much lower) capacity.
I don't know much about battery tech :silly:, as I'm about to prove but ... I believe it's basically a chemical reaction that releases power (and the reaction is revered when charging). The capacity of the battery is related to the volume of material available for the reaction, so basically physics is against us on this one.
If it seems too good to be true, it is. If technology were available to produce safe, cheap batteries, of the same size with a higher capacity, why doesn't a single large reputable manufacturer produce what would obviously be a lucrative accessory?
Are we not missing the point that his phone can't do 12 hours idling? My wife's currently very under used one x has managed 7 days and 10 hours from a single charge with 3g on almost zero screen on so true idle.
My used one x can easily make 2days of what I class as moderate use.
There must be some software issue or as Vodafone in Perth did a misconfigured network stopping 3g from going idle and sucking the battery dry.
Cheers
Steve
you can use the battery of the hox+ and get an extra 300mAh ...
but am going to take the batt of my spare one x and see if the battery of the htc butterfly s would fit... you get like an extra 1200mAh
hope it does....

Please make a thread about that, even if it doesn't fit. Battery life on my HOX is crippling, hardly get 2 hours screen time.

Largest capacity battery without extended case?

Hi, I was wondering what the highest capacity battery was without having to replace the back cover?
I know of the anker 1900mah, what about the Samsung 2000mah? Also, what do you guys think of buying no name batteries that are advertised as 1900mah?
I've bought no name batteries for my HTC incredible s before, I bought an 1800mah battery which gave me the exact same battery life as a 6 month old stock 1450mah battery, so thoughts?
EDIT: I'm a stickler for thinness so even if a back plate adds 1mm to it, i don't want it, I've had enough of my thick as stars HTC incredible s
the samsung 2000mah battery gives you a new back cover and makes your phone a little bid thicker, but not much. Most hard cases will still tightly fit
This would be your best option, as you are sure it will be 2000mah.
I myself got the 1900mah anker battery and dont really see any difference with it... It is about the same as stock. My 2000mah battery is arriving soon ^^
There are enouf pictures/movies of the 2000mah batter, there you can see how big it is I myself think it will make the phone easyer in the hand
Do instead of it having a bulge at the bottom, now everywhere is as thick as the bulge?

yes!
I only get 2.5 hours screen on time with data most of the time off with my 1900 anker battery, which is same/worse than default battery.
I think your safest/best choice is the samsung's official 2000mah battery. Do know that many slim cases wont fit anymore.
You can clearly see the size here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tHvfEtsvUg&feature=player_detailpage#t=327s
Oh yes, since I'm getting a slightly bigger case along with the 2000mah battery, why not get something with even more capacity? What's the largest capacity that will fit in the back plate that comes with the 2000mah extended battery?

2000 mah
You can buy even bigger ones, but they will be 2-3x bigger in size.
And if 3rd party batterymakers say it holds 3500 mah, it actually is only 2500.
Size-quality wise, the official is the best by far!
And if you are really scared of running out of batteries when you are on vacation or something, just get a 2nd battery? This way you can switch battery whenever you want. And you will always have a spare fully charged battery with you

I have quite contrast opinion and experience on Anker battery on my SGS2. It mathematically holds some 16% more juice, but actually performs with 20-25% improvement. My friend who bought one for his Note (both orig and Anker are 2500mAh) says Anker holds up 15% longer (orig would drain every day between 7 and 8 pm, and Anker holds for another hour and a half, approx). It fits your original back cover, and I think it is worth trying.

Oh that sounds good, but don't companies like Anker, Chichitec and mugen "overadvertise" their battery capacities? A 1900mAh would be maybe a 1500mAh and a 1800mAh would be a 1400mAh?
Oh and did you compare your Anker 1900mAh to a new stock battery or one that's maybe 6 months old?
get the 2000 mah battery from samsung, its great, doesnt make the phone any thicker but it makes enough of a difference mate!

Anker is not overadvertisig its batteries like some Chinese factories. When I first tested Anker, my stock battery was some 3 months old. You should know that Anker batteries (as well as stock ones) need some 5 complete charges to start to act fully with their capacity, so do the test not the same moment when you buy the battery, but after 5-6 charges. I am using Anker battery now 99% of the time, and keep my stock one at home, full, just in case I need the phone full urgently. Every time I keep stock battery in phone I can see how it's depleated faster, so Anker is still better than stock one, some 8 months after using it heavily.
My stock battery is always on 15-20% at the end of the working day (from 8am to 22h-midnight), empty by midnight on weekends. Anker can withstand one day + night + morning shift on working days, and full day on the weekend, with some juice left.
Oh, and I use battery circle with % on it, so I can pretty accurately monitor
how fast is my battery draining while on internet, watching video, playing games (you don't see the % during the game, but you see it before and after), calling etc.

i think the best extended battery you could get without any noticeable/annoying bulges, is the legit 2000mAh from Samsung.. it does not cost that much considering that it is not some hoax and it also comes with their custom back cover for the extended batter.. I don't trust Chinese products entirely

Nexus 5 3800 mAh batteries legit?

Are those Nexus 5 batteries at AliExpress with a capacity of 3800mAh legit? They even claim it's the same size as the original batteries.
No, this is fake... Maybe the real capacity will have a 1500mAh... Search original or replacement of good quality, for example. PolarCell: http://www.polarcell.de/english.html
I second that (what bykumza writes), if the manufacturer (LG) could have fitted a real 3800 mAh battery they would have done that. Often the more modest capacity values are more accurate. I can confirm that PolarCell are very good, well worth the money. The Chinese cheapies often dissapoint.

Actually Nexus 5 and G2 are released almost same date. Nexus 5 has 2300 mah battery and G2 has 3000 mah. I bought G2 battery and put it in my Nexus 5. It fits but it needs ~1 mm space which is not a problem for LG to do it! But they did not! That company did not put 3000 mah battery in nexus 5 which could have been the bestseller because of price/performance and put 2300 mah in it so they could sell their ****ing G2s with great battery life. So no they would not have done it even if they could. Today companies do not do so much things that they can, we just can't even imagine. Intel, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Samsung , apple and other mobile companies are good example. Why on earth can't mobile companies like apple put bigger batteries in it's super high price phones? Juts why? Samsung managed to put 3600 mah battery in 5.5 inch phone which is smaller then iphone 6s plus or 7 plus which has ~2900 mah and takes 3 and a half ****ing hours to charge it!!!!
Would you recommend to get a replacement battery from PolarCell instead of getting OEM original one?

Fitting G2 battery requires some hardware modification, which I frankly don't feel like doing.
I just wonder which battery is better, a PolarCell one (someone recommend in previous post) or OEM one.
Polarcell is reportedly one of the best alternatives and has a slightly higher capacity than the original cost can say that comes out more or less the same as the original.
Here, unfortunately, you have to answer on your own if you want to take a chance and buy a replacement if you prefer a standard solution.

I know saying this probably isn't that helpful, but you'll probably be better of buying a new standard sized battery from a legit company, provided you can find one that hasn't been laying on a shelf for three years already. Most of the cheap (higher capacity) Chinese batteries you'll find on aliexpress will be fakes (or low quality) anyway. It's just highly unlinkely that it's possible to fit a capacity that high in the same package as a 2700Mah battery.
