[GT-I9195] - CM 13 - missing a binary file - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I wiped the bootanimation.bin file located in system/bin directory by mistake. I was trying to get rid of a boot animation which i was unable to change. Now i have a blank screen during boot, but the phone works.
So, I'm here to ask, if anybody running CM13 on GT-I9195 could provide me with his bootanimation.bin file, or help me search for a clean one, so i could copy it to my device and get my boot animations working again. I searched the internet for that file for a long time, but i cannot find it anywhere. I would appreciate your help alot.
Thanks in advance.

Any stock Cyanogenmod 13 boot animation will do, here is the one from my phone anyhow
Sent from my Galaxy S4 Mini using XDA Labs

You could download some CM13 rom and extract the bin file for example. Or you just install the rom again or update, this would be the easiest way.
However: here you go (can't attach it for some reason)
Edit: Permissions are rwxr-xr-x iirc

[Q] boot animation doesnt override

Hey all. I'm having trouble adding a custom boot animation. I've been trying to use adb push to move it to /data/local/. It seems to work initially. Cmd shows it moved over the full zip file and I can see it in my phone with root explorer but when I restart my phone it just uses the default animation. I'm trying to switch to the bios boot animation that I've found on the forums. Ive only had my Incredible for about a week so its mainly stock other than rooted. Any advice? Thanks

My boot animation is actually in /system/customize/resource, maybe you could try sending it there and see if it works? Also, just checking, it is named bootanimation.zip right? I believe that matters lol, not sure. I'm sorry if I wasn't helpful, I don't exactly know much about boot animations tbh.

Yeah, it has the right name but still isn't working even in the folder you suggested. Also the zip file just has the part0, part1, and desc.txt files in it so I'm not sure exactly what the problem is. I'm pretty new to the droid scene. Thanks for trying though.
Finally! After a lot of searching I found out it needs to be named VZW_bootanimation.zip and the sound file is VZW_Droid.mp3 with Froyo at least. It actually is in /system/customize/resource/ after all. I just didn't scroll that far down since I didn't know about the name change. It does replace the stock animation file though so I saved it in another folder before replacing it in case I ever want to go back. Thanks for the help
The file name and location depend on the ROM being used.

hello, i already followed your guide without error, but i still couldn't get any sound when booting, im using cm7 kaang beta2,
i also changed my boot animation from THIS thread.
should i change the bootanimation back to the stock animation from cm7?
oh yeah, i also tested it by putting mp3 files in the /system/media where the bootanimation also exists, still,no luck so far,
don't know where it go wrong, since i didn't get any error when running the command in terminal, and when installing the soundaboot.zip, i didn't get any error message either in the cmw

So, I tried everything you said. First time I did it, I had that bollywood boot sound. I then change it to one of my own, a .mp3 file I had converted from a .wav file; 160 kB.
But nothing happens, no sound at all. I even tried doing the whole process from scratch, including the script part. Any thoughts on this?

You tried other sounds of mp3 formate?
And changed permissions to rw-r-r ?
If doing this nothing happen just extract that zip file and put your sound in media folder then again zip and install then

So, there are more steps to the ones you already mentioned?
Could I trouble you with a ste-by-step tutorial? Because I didn't know I had to do that nor your tutorial indicates so. Thanks.

[Help Required] will not boot

Hey guys,
I have done something stupid.
The phone.
GSM Galaxy Nexus - Android 4.0.2 (ICL53F)
Rooted. otherwise stock.
Current status - will not boot android. Will load fastboot/recovery
I was trying to change the bootanimation.
Could not do it with adb push.
So i tried by copying the .zip file to the phone.
Opened up file File expert (unsure how many use this) clicked on "internal Memory" and tried to mount for read/write.
Copied bootanimation.zip from sd card to /system/media would not paste.
Tried again. Did not paste but it did delete the stock bootanimation.zip file.
Unsure what i clicked but when i tried to open /system/media it try to "execute" it, stated that it could not find a program to do so.
Closed program.
Phone started to come up with differnt apps stating that they have stopped working.
turned off phone, reboot.
Will not load boot animation, just loads to recovery!
I think I will have to flash the stock rom to solve this.
Any help would be great.

If this was my phone I'd find a nice rom, stock or not, and install it. I'd follow the dev's installation instructions to a "T".
You could also go this way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399210
Good luck.

[Solved] Down animation = black screen

Hi, after installing CoreDroid ROM, I wanted to change boot and down animation to stock version, so I extracted needed files from backup ("bootanimation.zip" and "downanimation.zip"), opened Root Explorer, turned on R/W mode, and replaced that files in "data\local" folder. Now, boot animation works, but down animation doesn't (as said in title).
I don't know what's problem, can someone help me? Thanks in advance!
EDIT: I have solved problem - I followed this tutorial and copied file via ADB: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=942976

OK, back again
One important thing to notice, meant for all who flash any zips:
Always take a look into META-INF click thru subfolders and find updater-script and open with an editor.
Within you will find exactly what the zip does, what changes will be made and maybe you understand how to revert back.
In your case you got to disable bootanimation in /system/bin again.

Go into /system/bin with any file explorer, find bootanimation and bootanimation.original,
delete first and rename second by deleting the extension .original.

No need for backup here. I guess that both files are there. otherwise I hit the bootanim-creator.
