PC Failed to detect Mi Max ( 64gb version)

My Windows 10 notebook could detect the MiMax through its File explorer : I could view all phone contents in internal memory and ext SDcard
BUT using Mi PC Suite software, the phone just couldn't be connected to it - I had selected USB connection as MTP
When I booted the phone into EDL mode, the PC also failed to detect the phone and I just could not select the Qualcomm drivers too
I'd appreciate any help on this
I have the same problem, although adb and fastboot work just fine, I have not been able to get into edl mode, that I can discern. No red flashing light or other indicator. Thought maybe I'd unlock it and see if that helps.
I've read everything I can find and there are 4 different ways to go into edl mode: adb, fastboot, holding volume +/- while inserting usb connected to pc and connected device while holing volume +/- and power, wait for vibration, let loose of power for next vibration, but none work on my device.
I find I have to toggle the usb connection between mtp and whatever then back to mtp to get file access and I wonder if that has something to do with my irregularities.
Not a big deal (pun??) as I love the phone. This has replaced my note 5. Love the size and performance is comparable.

Mi Max Bricked after installing CM13 Rom

My MI Max (3gb/64gb 2016) completely bricked out after installing a CM13 rom, it was rooted and had TRWP installed (and working). Screen is black, no Led's.
I've tried connecting it to my Windows 10 (64 Bits) PC, turned Driver Signature off. It recognizes something when I connect my MI Max but cannot load the correct USB (Serial) drivers so I cannot use MIFlash to restore the firmware. Who can tell me what drivers I need to install (tried a lot of Qualcomm drivers but non are recognized by windows and therefor not working for MI Flash (Beta)). It is driving me crazy.
The device manager states Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)
PLEASE HELP
hey buddy just follow this guide exactly and you'll be up and running like nothing happened before.heres the link http://en.miui.com/thread-3282-1-1.html. if the device doesn't get into edl mode with the mentioned button combo (as it happened to me).press the volume up+vol down + power (all 3 buttons simultaneously) and let go once u feel a vibration.once u get into edl mode the screen will be blank,no button or notification lights, just will show up in ur PC device manager after u install the drivers.I personally used this guide and the linked files to upgrade my mi max hydrogen (3gb ram/32gb) from global stable to global developer on win 10 64bit
Any luck?

i wonder why people post questions and disappear.
maybe he solved his problem...
Hello, I have also managed to brick my Mi Max while trying to flash RR ROM with TWRP.
My phone is completely dead, when trying to get into EDL mode the phone doesn't respond as mentioned in this thread.
The PC therefore doesn't recognized phone as HSUSB_BULK only as "unknown..." how to proceed ?

Can't unlock bootloader. Device no longer detected the moment I open Mi Unlock Tool.

Sorry if this is the wrong thread.
Hello guys, I have a Redmi Note 5 (Global Version) with Snapdragon 636, and this phone is really amazing. I'd like however to unlock its booloader so I can install Pixel Experience on it, as I'd like to use other roms than MIUI. The issue is, well, I can't.
Something really strange happens: if I connect my phone via USB 2.0 to my computer, it is recognized as usual. It appears in Device Manager, is recognized by ADB, no problem. Then I reboot in fastboot mode and the device is still there. However, the EXACT moment I open Mi Unlock Tool, without clicking anything (Agree or logging in to my mi account) the phone is instantly disconnected and the "Press any key to shutdown" message appears on the top-left of my phone's screen.
Stuff I've tried:
- made sure OEM unlocking and USB debugging are on
- installed Mi Unlock tool in C:
- installed the ADB drivers in C:/Program Files
- disabled integrity checks from CMD
- installed and checked the MiUSBDriver umpteen times
- used 4 different versions of Mi Unlock Tool (1.0, 2.2, 2.3, and 3.3 - 1.0 halts at 50%, the other 3 won't detect my phone at all)
- made sure the device is bound to my Mi Account
I've tried using Hexerus' guide here (post #18) and everything seems to work fine, until step 6 when my phone instantly disconnects when opening Mi Unlock Tool.
Do you guys have any ideas? Thanks.

Used USB 2.0, didn't work
Happened with me before, and I looked Google and found some solutions like installing the drivers again and using old miunlock tool and using different USB Socket however, none of theme worked,
Next day I opened the laptop to try again and suddenly it worked!
I didn't know what exactly fixed it
After the 720 hours period, I have spent literally weeks of trying to unlock my device's bootloader and what I would add is to switch between computers. I'm running Windows 10 on my room computer and all I had with MiUnlock were errors such as device disconnecting once in fastboot, "Couldn't unlock" messages, chinese characters... Until I decided to use my 2005 Windows 7 desktop and wow !, device unlocked at first try ! No need any other trick
just uninstall Previous drivers or use Windows 7 PC,with latest drivers of ADB ,i also faced same problem:angel:

Maybe something with Windows?
I wondered if the laptop could be indeed the problem... I do have another laptop (for now), should I try using it tomorrow?

Fastboot reboots when connected to PC/Laptop

Hello
Hope someone can help I cannot find a definitive answer hopefully in layman's terms for this problem.
Redmi Note 8 Pro Bergonia 6gb ram 128gb storage Miui 12 Global
Tried CFW 2020 Anti-Brick Corvus ....., Afterwards Phone booted then went completely dead apart from power light when connected to usb
Came accross SP Flash Tool this did help, phone now boots, all seems ok apart from when in fastboot when connecting usb to PC/laptop (tried several cables with a PC and laptop using USB 2.0 all worked prior to trying CFW) all with same result phone stays in fasboot for approx 20 seconds then reboots. Don't know if this is relevant, if I put the phone into fastboot and do not connect to usb, fastboot remains on. Is there anyway I can install twrp and root, or am I stuffed?
Thanks

1/Try flash with Miflashtool
2/Try unbrick hardbrick method. You can find on many: Youtube, Telegram, Github, XDA,... Keep phone in EDL mode by bypass and flash by Sp flash tool.
Thank you SP flash tool and a newer driver fixed it.
Use USB 2.0 ports. (use usb 2.0 hubs if you dont have usb 2.0 ports)
Install drivers properly (it should say Android Bootloader Interface in Device Manager)
