Someone please help!!! - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6

I deleted some texts from my phone by accident and it is of great importance for me to retrieve them. I've heard the way that Samsung phones work is that even though the texts are deleted, they are stored on the phone in a dormant memory and are only "recorded" over once the phone runs out of other free memory. My phone is no where near that threshold of running out of memory, so I know they are still there. So I tried to root the phone myself using some site I think was called (Kong or konga or something like that) and it did not work. Does anyone out there know how to help me? I really really need those messages back.
Thank you.

If you need to Root (and Root alone won't help you) then follow my guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...uide-links-files-update-root-restore-t3366862

response..
I know rooting alone won't help me, but its a starting point. And I paid for some software that should work if the phone is properly rooted.... However, if you have another way to retrieve those messages, I'm all ears! Any help is greatly appreciated, trust me. Lets put it this way... If someone can help me get these messages back, I'd have no problem sending them a gift as a thank you. (thats how important this is to me)

Did you try the application that I linked in the first line? You install on your PC and plug in your phone. There is a free-to-try version so that you can test without risk.
Post back here what happens.

This is so frustrating.
So this is the app I tried first before I even came to this forum. I even paid for the full version and it won't work. I could be a complete idiot, but I literally tried it for 3 hours one night, and then another 3 hours on another night. I'm literally having ZERO luck when it comes to this issue. I did this program, it tells me it failed to root the phone. Then I download another program to root the phone and then that program tells me that "root failed". So I feel like I'm f'ed no matter what I do. Advice???

[Q] [Help!] Broken Screen, abd device unauthorised.. ripping hair out!

Hi Guys,
Basically recovering from a broken Ankle, so decided I would fall on it and destory my phone in the process. At the moment I do not have enough money to buy a new screen, if I did this wouldn't be an issue. I need urgently to get access to remotely screen cast the device OR get my text messages backed up as I need some of the numbers ASAP!
The phone is rooted I believe it has the OMEGA rom installed. I cant see anything apart from a couple of lines on the screen and the digitizer isnt properly working so I cant unlock it on lucky guesses!
I have tried to get screen cast to work, got up to the point of restarting the adb as it kept saying offline, now it says unauthorised. So i am pooped with ideas!?! I dont know what my options are now, I can still get into download mode, not sure about the recovery menu as I cant see anything.
Does anyone at all have any ideas? I am ripping my hair out haha! I need this information because the person I am trying to contact owes me enough money to get the screen fixed however I cant get his number, not even through my gmail because for some reason non of my contacts are now synced?!
I may have a possible backup from mybackup or something if it is possible to restore that to the computer? I think some of my contacts and text messages are stored with my samsung account however I cant download that from the website..
Samsung Kies is no good either, as cant connect to that.
I think that is as much info as I can post, if you need anymore to help please let me know. (I will be back online in a few hours, need to calm down and have something to eat!)
Thanks in advance but I understand if nothing can be done, unfortunately due to lack of work and the debt left from the ex, I now have a problem. And I cant claim on insurance as it is rooted.
The reason ADB is saying unauthorized is that there is a warning pop-up on the screen when a computer connects. If you reboot into recovery you might be able to circumvent this.

do you know anyone with an HDMI adapter? you could get a display that way and find a method of your choosing to backup anything you need.
Edit: If you just need numbers try checking your online account with your service provider, you may be able to get some of the numbers that way through recent calls.

Sorry about the late replies guys, had to go away for a few days look after fam member.
I know this, but I cannot authorize it because the screen is broken. What ways do you know of recovering through the Recovery? Download mode can get into, recovery I cant do much from? Without seeing it.

Hmm, A HDMI adapter would that require any settings changed on the phone to enable it, or is that just a plug and play device? Online accounts currently don't have anything stored because sync messed up.
Mods: Can I get this moved to the normal GT-I9505 section Q&A as didn't realise this was T-Mobile and it's unlocked

Recovery should work to get adb working. Then you can pull the mmssms.db file along with it's counterparts and retrieve all your messages that way.

[Q] Flashed LS970_ZERO_EFS but did not Backup EFS, what now?

Hi,
I was an idiot and accidentally flashed the LS970_ZERO_EFS.zip without knowing what I was doing. I eventually used DFS to be able to set my IMEI and MEID, which helped get my phone to a state where hands-free activation, prl upgrades, etc. work fine now. All non-cell activity also works fine, but anything that uses cell towers fails. PRL Upgrades and Hands-Free activation work fine. When someone calls me, my phone doesn't ring but I eventually do get a 'missed call' indicator.
I read the 'Backup/Restore/Repair Your EFS Partition' thread, which is how I figured out to how to use DFS to set my IMEI and MEID, but I'm unable to do the 'For 1X/3G working - use DFS' portion of it because I don't have my AAA Shared Secret password and my HA Shared Secret password.
Finally, to make matters even worse, I'm not on Sprint; I'm on an MVNO of Sprint called RingPlus.
What should I do to be able to get cell access working again? Any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help out! :good:

Thanks! I will try moving my account to a dummy phone, and moving it back afterward. Hopefully that will force the 'initial handshake' that they mention in that article. I'll post my results after I try it out (probably sometime this weekend).
THIS!
OMG this is almost exactly where I am at. I too am on RingPlus, but my journey to a screwed EFS was different, I used Framaroot to root my phone so I could have Titanium backup and other root functions. It was great for a couple of weeks, then one morning I my network connectivity just turned off, that was a little over a week ago. I tried tech support, but eventually figured out that it wasn't my service provider, especially when I looked into my "phone identity" settings and saw everything except my ICCID and PRL were zeroed out.
I was thinking about flashing the clean EFS, but I can't really find out how to do that, I see instructions for it in the EFS restore thread, but all it says is "flash it" and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to do that.
Also, I can't get my phone to root anymore, I tried Framaroot again, and this thread "Universal Root" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38886073#post38886073 It says it worked, but Titanium Backup says it still doesn't have root.
And to top it off, my play store says no connection (tried wiping cache and different versions, date settings, can't get it).
Right now, I'm working with an almost useless phone.

If you unlocked your phone with FreeGee, it made a backup of your EFS. Put those files in the flash efs zip and you should be set

Thanks, but I used the Framaroot APK and that was it. I kinda jumped in before I really read/understood what I was doing. I had no idea that information could be wiped.
I have been trying to understand how the whole system is setup and at which points modifications can/should be made.
I don't think I've ever unlocked the bootloader, which is what I thought FreeGee was for, I just used Framaroot to root it and thought I was good. Then 0000000000.
I have been trying to figure out if I really need to flash the ZERO EFS, or if I can just jump to using DFS to modify the ESN etc. It seems like my EFS is already zeroed. (I'd ask in the proper thread, but I'm working my way up to 10 posts...).
Thanks for the reply, there are really so many resources here it is incredible, I just need to remember to not do stupid crap (too late!).

Framaroot was set up as a temporary root. It says that in our root guide. Some use it all the time with no issues. I played it safe with the Universal Root.
The EFS was discovered by autoprime I think, and steps were taken to fix that. Follow his guide's to hopefully fix it.
I wouldn't Zero out anything that is left. They may help you or Sprint fix it.
You're not stupid. LG just has different things to worry about compared to HTC, Samsung etc.
Good luck with everything.

Temp use of a Sprint ESN/MEID for service swap?
Does anyone out there have a Sprint ESN/MEID they wouldn't mind "loaning" me for a couple of hours so I can attempt to "swap" service out and back to my device.
The CSR I'm dealing with says that doing a swap is better than cancel/reactivate because apparently with a cancel/reactivate they actually close the account and any (prepaid) funds in there get eaten (kind of bull**** that they can't do it from some admin position that would stop that from happening, but whatever).
Thanks.

Decided to abandon this line, bought an LG Tribute for $40 and swapped to that. Super small internal memory, but other than that, not a bad phone really.

[Q] NEED HELP!!! apache has ruined me

I recently read a post, I don't know where now, but it had to do with a hidden Trojan/malware. That was started in 2013... After reading, thinking back to when this really started affecting me Feb,26, 2015. I noticed some strange things mentioned in my service log from around that date. The post mentioned how it places a high tracker in some obscure app. Unfortunately I got the bug, BAD!!! So not knowing about this until I made it worse by plugging my phone into my computer... I'm sure you can figure out the rest. My everything is screwed now. My HTC one m7, is the only device I can use period, now. I tried to root, and couldn't. Then downloaded another root checker, and it said my device was already rooted. Is there anything I can do(on my knees begging). This has to be the worst inter-web experience ever. Any and all ideas, advice, similar problems, links, and time are greatly appreciated. Thank you

My phone is the only thing I can use... I have to install Windows again on my lap top... I have a new disc and what not. I'm just worried that he'll just take that over as well.. so phone, but I could use some tips in how to do it for the pc as well and if I'll ever be able to get my email. With my last ten years if web activity, Xbox one and everything else I had.... So pissed
for the phone, i recommend an ruu. in case that bug is somewhere on the phone waiting for another PC victim. It sucks that you will lose everything but its hard to figure out what file is infected and if you restore any file after format you run the chance of it happening again
as for the pc. if you can reboot to safe mode you can use a tool called Combofix. it will sometimes fix problems due to worms or viruses. I've used it many of times i cant fix it manually.

Stuck scanning files phone works but pics gone HELP anything

I woke up to my phone on and it was back to factory settings and all my photos, contacts, kids, parents vids gone. I'm sick and the data recovery people want $1000.00 to possibly get them back. I have read until my eyes bled. "try to root it... DE-soder the chip. Sprint even told me that my modem is not communicating with the "hard drive". I don't know if these files are still there as when I plug it in the only file it shows is a single ring tone. I will try anything and I'm even willing to pay someone to attempt to recover the info for me. I just don't know where to start and there seem to be people that know so much about this stuff that hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. You guys Rock. My Mother and I thank you for any info that you may be able to provide to help get back these messages and videos of my deceased father. lg ls970. I can talk on it and even check my email but it still says scanning files and if I attempt to download anything it says no room. Thanks again for any direction

PS. The phone is bone stock.

Phone hacked

I need help identifying what app or setting got me into this mess.
I think the hacker has adb access.
He shuts down apps.. etc
He is messing with the notifications.. i get ony a few. Sometimes they come in late.
I have made reset from samsung setting and the boot menu, AND I INSTALLED A NEW ROM (the one for my phone) WITH ODIN. Still the issue resurfaces.
I think my roomate installed smthg in it. He is on the house wifi and he is got a degree in networking (i think thats what it's called, we study in french in my country)
Please i need help.
If someone needs any further details, please ask.
Avoid the wifi network you suspect your hacker friend is on, reinstall the rom downloaded on another network and stay on 4G and see if it still happens? Also suspect your PC to be hacked...
Thx for replying,
I did format my pc but i have connected it to house wifi.. didn't notice anything out of order though.
I found out about the "Revoke USB debugging authorisations" option in Developer Options. I think it is working.
Today, since i made a new instagram account, i added a mutual friend. Turns out it was an old and lost account, and thats when i got the error from the video.
Fortunately, i fixed it by un.following the account and clearing the app storage.
I need to know what access does he have?
Can't upload the video, here's some shots.
Look no further than yourself for the cause of this... one way or another.
RX: Factory reset, change Google account password.
Stop with the social media crap and go mingle with real people.
This not about social media, it's about getting my phone back.
With my old account, I couldn't even talk to my messenger friend. Today, thats like having your phone number unreachable all the time, frustrating.
Please if you don't want to help don't, but no need for quick unhelpful replies.

How was it compromised?
Understand if it was compromised it's more than likely because you left yourself vulnerable to attack.
A compromised OS needs to be cleaned or wiped... I gave you the solution(s).
No need to say thanks but don't give me lip about your screw ups.
Thank you.
I tried factory reset more than 10 times, different ways. No luck.
I think he is got access to one of my friends account but i don't know how he is using this connection with me ( message, notification.. i don't know)
@blackhawk what you said is true, and i didn't mean no offense.

Reflash the firmware especially if it is Oreo or below.
If it's not embedded in the firmware, it's being added by you albeit inadvertently.
Your Achilles heel is social media... don't be so predictable. Break the link in the chain.
None of the social apps should be running on the device, they are malware. At least keep them in the cloud.
Email must always be kept in the cloud and any attachments downloaded from it scruntinized or preferably not downloaded at all. All downloads are suspect.
At this point your data base is suspect as well.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result.

Unless someone physically got their hands on it, there's no known way the Android 11 stock factory image can be compromised by a rootkit or virus. A factory reset is all that is needed.
The problem happened after the reset.

That is exactly what i suspect did happen. I often leave my phone home and my pattern is known for him.
How can i undo a modification of that level.
(I intend to go to a phone repair shop and install new soft with the "box". Is this recommended or is it a bad idea)

Never leave a phone physically unsecured as that's the only real security there is.
You need to have the firmware reflashed then be careful what you put back on it.
Change all your passwords and use secure passwords.
I ithink i this is the problem.( in the pic below)
There was an app called android device.. don't know if this is normal. So i deleted it and restarted and things are back to normal.
Sorry i can't upload the image, the app closes automatically.
