Not entering recovery after flashing Xposed on Freedom OS 1.7 - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

After I press enter recovery my phone just goes to a black screen, and it takes me a while with button press combos to turn back on, reflashing twrp via fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img isn't working either

Make sure you have flashed the modified twrp for v1.7 - that is linked - in the instructions - in the first post - of the freedomos thread.

Trying to install TWRP but the phone keeps overwriting it

Trying to install TWRP v3. Phone is unlocked (not rooted yet as not necessary atm). I'm able to sucesfully push the .img to the sdcard via adb and install via "fastboot flash recover twrp.img" but the moment I reboot the phone and try to access recovery to get into TWRP, all I get is a little icon of an android mascot lying down with his belly open. No TWRP.
I know the phone will auto-overwrite custom recovery's if the correct combination of hardware buttons are not pressed after the first TWRP install (as TWRP needs to patch the default recovery the first time to stop the phone from constantly trying to overwrite TWRP every time) but so far i've not been able to find out what it is (i.e. not the usual vol +- and power all at the same time. Its gotta be something else?).
Edit: Delete his post. I figured it out. Turns out it isn't a good idea to execute "fastboot reboot" immediately after TWRP installation
Don't restart the Phone!
Flash Recovery and the do the following:
Use the volume keys to scroll and power key to select the Reboot Bootloader option. Once the phone has booted back into the bootloader you can use the volume keys to scroll and the power key to boot into your newly flashed recovery. It's now safe to disconnect your usb cable.

How can I keep MIUI from overwrite TWRP with stock recovery after a ROM flash?

I'm on fw Global 9.6.6.0.
(Bought the phone 'bogus' unlocked with "fake" 9.6.4.0, bricked it while trying to restore chinese fw and re-lock bootloader using miflash - I'm not doing that again
brought it back to life using the steps from Omer919's thread - thanks Omer919 and Nijel8)
I deleted install-recovery.sh from system/bin using TWRP's file manager before first boot, but it still overwrites MIUI recovery.
It's not a huge deal because I guess I can always fastboot flash twrp before flashing any new ROM, but does anyone have a solution? Much appreciated!
You have to boot to twrp right after flashing.
Go to twrp official site, choose your device and follow exactly instruction to the end.
It wouldnt harm your device if you reboot it to twrp twice.
Thanks, I tried but it reverts to stock recovery. After flashing TWRP in fastboot, I either try Fastboot boot twrp.img or disconnect the cable and hold power and vol+.
Either way, it goes into TWRP, and I make it boot back into TWRP several times with no problem.
But as soon as I boot to System, it reverts to stock.
TWRP site gives me this info (but it didn't work):
Note many devices will replace your custom recovery automatically during first boot. To prevent this, use Google to find the proper key combo to enter recovery. After typing fastboot reboot, hold the key combo and boot to TWRP. Once TWRP is booted, TWRP will patch the stock ROM to prevent the stock ROM from replacing TWRP. If you don't follow this step, you will have to repeat the install.
OMG I found it - Google really is a friend. All I had to do was install Magisk before booting to System.
Below are my exact steps, if that helps someone.
Preliminary:
Download Magisk 17.1 zip, place it on a USB flashdrive.
Install latest magiskmanager apk from Play store (or sideload it if not on the store)
1- In Fastboot:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
fastboot boot twrp.img (If all goes well, this boots to TWRP; if prompted for a code, hit cancel)
2- Disconnect the cable.
Reboot to recovery once more (just to make sure, this is probably redundant; hit cancel if prompted for a code)
3- Mount USB-OTG, connect your flashdrive.
Install Magisk.
During the installation, you'll see some red fail lines, but Magisk seems to work around the encryption, just be patient.
4-Reboot System. You're done! Launch MagiskManager. Device is rooted in the process, too. (Verify with a root checker app).
Power Off. Hit Power + volume Up - You should boot to TWRP.
thanks a million McNoob. I was lost, but due to your hints I managed to install Magisk
Hi i cant boot to twrp and it keeps reverting to stock recover..

[SOLVED] TWRP Recovery Boot Fails After Successful Flash - why?

Hey guys,
I downgraded my D5503, rooted, unlocked the bootloader and then I tried to install TWRP real recovery. Therefore I flashed in fastboot mode (blue led ON) the *.img file using the command fastboot flash recovery
*.img.
But it's impossible to start TWRP, ot with Power & Vol+, vibrate and release Power nor the command fastboot reboot whixch just restart the device into my rom
How can I start or check my TWRP recovery? I found a SOLUTION, you find it here
or long story short: After flashing twrp via fastboot flash recovery filename.img DO NOT BOOT INTO ROM!! YOU NEED TO BOOT INTO TWRP: Vol- & Power, wait for vibration & release Power but keep Vol- until TWRP starts up

Unable to boot into TWRP

Hello everyone,
I really need help from you guys.
Yesterday I successfully flashed LineageOS 17 but unfortunately I forgot to flash Gapps using TWRP. I booted into system and then only few seconds afterwards I realized that I forgot to flash Gapps.
Then I tried to boot into recovery but the problem is I got forced to boot into stock recovery instead of the TWRP that I managed to flash in the first place. After that I tried to re flash the TWRP but then I got booted into the stock recovery everytime. Here is what I did and still failed to boot into TWRP:
1. adb reboot bootloader
FastBoot Mode
PRODUCT_NAME - ZS620KL
BOOTLOADER VERSION - WW_90.11.162.72
SERIAL NUMBER - J8AZB760J064ADX
SECURE BOOT - yes
ACTIVE SLOT - b
DEVICE STATE - unlocked
2. fastboot --set-active=a
3. fastboot reboot bootloader
4. fastboot flash boot boot.img
5. disconnected my usb cable
6. press volume keys to change the START to RECOVERY MODE
7. long press power key
8. press volume down and power key at the same time until Bootloader Warning Message appear
9. and then "POWERED BY android" appear
10. my phone is now booted into STOCK RECOVERY.
Please help me guys
I really need to install Gapps

Recovery missing

I flashed havoc os 3.0 in twrp, but when i tried going back to the recovery, it went straight to fastboot. Can someone help me out with this. I cannot do a factory rest on my phone.
@luenboy Sounds like maybe you didn't have twrp installed to begin with properly.. I use orange fox recovery on my chiron because of all the things I've seen posted about twrp for this device. If you go here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...rp-orangefox-recovery-project-t3835139/page15
the last page is orange fox R11 recovery. That's what I've always used and its great.
Try holding your power button down and also hold volume + up and keep holding those down. You should reboot to recovery once you hold volume up+ power button long enough.
Here's some info on installing recovery below... You can also boot to fastboot mode manually and from your PC wipe whatever you need to that way. If you have another android device that's rooted you can download adb magisk module by osmosis and surge and you can use termux app just like a PC terminal with fastboot and adb and do everything a computer does with another android device. I've been doing that for years.
: Install the TWRP Recovery
1. Your bootloader must be unlocked
2. Enter fastboot mode by holding together "Volume Down + Power"
3. Download "twrp-3.2.1-0-chiron.img" from here:
