I flashed havoc os 3.0 in twrp, but when i tried going back to the recovery, it went straight to fastboot. Can someone help me out with this. I cannot do a factory rest on my phone.
@luenboy Sounds like maybe you didn't have twrp installed to begin with properly.. I use orange fox recovery on my chiron because of all the things I've seen posted about twrp for this device. If you go here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...rp-orangefox-recovery-project-t3835139/page15
the last page is orange fox R11 recovery. That's what I've always used and its great.
Try holding your power button down and also hold volume + up and keep holding those down. You should reboot to recovery once you hold volume up+ power button long enough.
Here's some info on installing recovery below... You can also boot to fastboot mode manually and from your PC wipe whatever you need to that way. If you have another android device that's rooted you can download adb magisk module by osmosis and surge and you can use termux app just like a PC terminal with fastboot and adb and do everything a computer does with another android device. I've been doing that for years.
: Install the TWRP Recovery
1. Your bootloader must be unlocked
2. Enter fastboot mode by holding together "Volume Down + Power"
3. Download "twrp-3.2.1-0-chiron.img" from here:

So i restored previous backed up CM.Everything perfect except these things. Now POWER BUTTON DOESNT RESPOND CORRECTLY and STILL CAN'T GET IN TO RECOVERY BY HOLDING VOLUME DOWN+POWER BUTTON. But ROM Manager CAN get in to recovery! What is now?

But when i long press on power button and after few seconds, phone respond(show the power button long press menu). Also i can select Power off, reboot etc..This seems a software problem. What shold i do?

" [2] ADVANCED BOOT PROBLEMS
S-OFF
"I'm S-OFF, I can't boot recovery and my phone doesn't
boot"
For one reason or another, your recovery image is corrupted
and when you try to boot into recovery, all you get is the
HTC screen and your phone doesn't boot. It is relatively
simple to fix, and there is more than one way to go about
doing this. All you need to do, is to flash a new recovery
image.
Possible causes
- I have no idea, however if somebody has an explanation
then feel free to PM me.
Repairing recovery, booting phone:
NOTE: If you have a PVT4 Device, go to "Flashing custom
recovery". If you are unsure, check just to be safe.
#METHOD 1#
Method One uses Android Flasher to flash the recovery
image.
[STEP1] - Battery pull. Hold the BACK button and the
POWER button to boot into FASTBOOT mode.
[STEP2] - Download Android Flasher
[STEP3] - Download the recovery image . Put it in a place you
can remember.
[STEP4] - Run android flasher, tick "Recovery", and press
"Begin"
[STEP5] - Browse to where you downloaded the recovery
image, select it, and press "open"
[STEP6] - repeat [1] from [STEP4] onwards
#METHOD 2#
Method two uses cmd and requires Android SDK to be set
up.
[STEP1] - Battery pull. Hold the BACK button and the
POWER button to boot into FASTBOOT mode.
[STEP2] - Download the recovery image . Rename it to
"recovery.img" for simplicity, and place it in the following
directory:
Code:
C:\
[STEP3] - then in cmd type the following commands
Code:
cd c:\android-sdk\tools
fastboot flash recovery c:\recovery.img
fastboot oem gencheckpt (this command boots you into recovery, ignore the feedback from
[STEP4] - repeat [1] from [STEP4] onwards"
Im trying with AndroidFlasher .Problem is link to recovery.img is not working. Can you tell me the full name of recovery i should google and download?
TIA
download ClockWorkMod recovery for bravo then you can flash any custom rom... 4ext is highly recommended but you should download it via app (download from here)
Is it really necessary to open another thread about your problem?

If link is down then use any other recovery from the recoveries section.
Trying to install TWRP v3. Phone is unlocked (not rooted yet as not necessary atm). I'm able to sucesfully push the .img to the sdcard via adb and install via "fastboot flash recover twrp.img" but the moment I reboot the phone and try to access recovery to get into TWRP, all I get is a little icon of an android mascot lying down with his belly open. No TWRP.
I know the phone will auto-overwrite custom recovery's if the correct combination of hardware buttons are not pressed after the first TWRP install (as TWRP needs to patch the default recovery the first time to stop the phone from constantly trying to overwrite TWRP every time) but so far i've not been able to find out what it is (i.e. not the usual vol +- and power all at the same time. Its gotta be something else?).
Edit: Delete his post. I figured it out. Turns out it isn't a good idea to execute "fastboot reboot" immediately after TWRP installation
Don't restart the Phone!
Flash Recovery and the do the following:
Use the volume keys to scroll and power key to select the Reboot Bootloader option. Once the phone has booted back into the bootloader you can use the volume keys to scroll and the power key to boot into your newly flashed recovery. It's now safe to disconnect your usb cable.
Cant seem to flash TWRP, will this be because I am on the latest OS 3.2.2? Bootloader is unlocked and when I flash the recovery image with [fastboot flash recovery recovery.img] via terminal on a mac I just get looped back into bootloader. If I press volume down and recovery its the same 5 second warning then I never get to TWRP. If i hold volume down and power until the boot loader disappears then the only way I can get the phone back on is volume up & power which takes me back to the bootlader.
TIA
the OS will not have anything to do with not being able to or not to install a recovery, what u can try to do is (if u can) boot to ur OS and download flashify and install twrp that way, if u can't then try the fastboot again, fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img then u use the vol + and power until device powers off and the power on, then press the vol key when the bootloader unlock screen comes one go to recovery and try see if it works, when u r done flashing don't use fastboot reboot, u have to manually power off the device, are u getting stock recovery at all? and also to does it show it has transferred successfully

Try
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
and see if you can boot to TWRP.If you're successful, flash the TWRP img from the recovery itself.

Its very complicated. My T705's power button was damaged by water. And i flashed Stock MM rom with odin. It was fine after flashing, the tablet boot into the os properly, work very well in the os.
But then i want to wipe the cache and data after that, so i was using the code"adb reboot to recovery" to get into recovery mode because my power button was broken. (I thought it can be using home button to select in recovery mode)
But the nightmare is i can't select anything in recovery mode which requiring a power button. So i can't wipe the cache, also can't select the option to reboot my tablet...... I've tried to hold both the volume down and home key to go to the download mode menu, and select restart by holding volume down, but it go to recovery again even after removing the battery, i think it's because the adb command.
And the strangest thing is i can't use my volume up button in download mode menu, so sadly i can't flash the rom again,:crying: but the volume up is working well in recovery and in the os......
Is there anyway to prevent the tablet to boot into the recovery again? I'm quite sure it's not the problem when flashing MM rom, the problem should be the adb command makes my tablet boot into recovery until i change the boot setting in recovery mode.

That would only work if you could actually use adb.

Holding vol down + home key can boot to the download mode menu.
But the device will automatically turn on after inserting the battery, no need to press any button, but the device only boot into recovery after i use the adb boot into recovery command.

If that's the case that means the power button is stuck on or you wouldn't be able to power on or boot to Download mode.
All you need to do is flash the stock firmware or twrp and it will reboot back to the OS.
Hopefully I've got your fix:
When you insert the battery your device boots up, if so, insert the battery and press the correct key combo while the splash screen from logo.bin is showing to boot into the download mode.
After that flash TWRP latest version with Odin. Then when your phone again boots to recovery, chose Reboot -> System to boot Android.
---
If the above isn't applicable and you can start Android somehow, I will download either FlashFire or MobileOdin to flash another recovery/ROM.

And don't know why the volume up doesn't work in the download mode menu, stuck in the download mode menu and can't select the option "continue" to go into the download mode

hi
i just unlocked my mi5s now, but when im trying to get into recovery mode (volume up + power) it still shows me the phone picture.
there is something that i am missing?
Flash the recovery, when in fastboot reboot into recovery by "fastboot boot recovery.img" if that's the name of the file on your computer. It will boot into recovery. After that, turn of the phone and boot into recovery with the button combination. Do not boot into the OS as it will disrupt the process! After this you should be fine. If not, try again, as you probably failed to directly boot into recovery with the button action.
Also, do check that you push both the volume keys plus the on/off button. So three in total.

as far as i know, when im unlock the phone, it unlock the recovery mode so i can access it by volume up + power instead of the phone picture.
i want for now stay with the stock recovery and not flash a custom one
Mm, you could use the phrase "fastboot reboot recovery". If that doesn't work, flash the latest Global beta and try again both ways.
If that also doesn't work, recheck if the phone is really unlocked (sometimes Xiaomi phones relock after an update without any good reason).
You could also try to find the stock recovery and use it in the method in my first reply. But keep that for last, as I don't know for sure how that recovery reacts to such a thing. Although I can't think of a reason why it would go wrong, it's better to be save than sorry.
