I want to uninstall AppLock and the uninstall button is disabled as its a part of device administrator
Is someone else facing this kind of issue and also what is the fix for this ?
Please help
You can't uninstall it if it's a Device Administrator. Just uncheck that box and try again.

I think you didn't get what I'm trying to say here..
I want to remove Applock from Device Administrators so that I can uninstall Applock, which I'm unable to do
When I uncheck Applock, the Settings app restarts / crashes and it restores Applock as Device Admin
Hence, I'm stuck with this, and I can't remove Applock from Device Admins
Oh okay, now I understand. Well, that shouldn't happen. What does that app do exactly?

Its supposed to lock apps in my phone which certainly fails to do.
Its not only AppLock which cannot be removed from Device Admins, its with the Android Device Manager too
Its a bug !!
Just format your phone... Honestly, I'm not sure there's other solution.
I am facing the same issue with app easytouch, do let me know if you find any solution
device administrator ???
I try to uninstall the first N Launcher It is not the default launcher. When I select it I keep getting "SETTINGS HAS STOPPED" Restart App.
So not sure what to do about this.
Start android in safe mode. And then disable device administrator setting and uninstall the App.
To restart android in safe mode open the shut-down menu and press and hold the shut-own entry for 2-3 sec. until you get the option to restart in safe mode. To leave safe mode restart you phone.
Hey help me to remove app from device admin. I don't want to format my phone

After uninstalling the offending app, you can uninstall TiBU and unroot the phone. Merely flashing the ROM again will make you to go back to stock. You will/should not lose any data if properly done, provided your bootloader is already unlocked. If not, then I don't know how else to do it.

You mentioned you have flashed many ROMs both custom and original.
Do you use TitaniumBackup to restore? And if so, do you restore data as well?
I would recommend not restoring phone data and when you restore your apps, do a few at a time to see if it is an app causing this.
If you don't use TitaniumBackup, and allow Google to restore, do the same.
You say it starts to happen after several minutes after a fresh flash... I think there is an app that is causing this.
Good luck.

Hey guys, now that we have the root, let's solve the problem problem of push notification. I' referring to receiving updates when the app is not open and running in the background.
Here is what I have:
Working no matter what:
Gmail
Facebook Messenger
Not getting push notifications if the app isn't open:
Facebook
Hagouts
Skype
Viber
WhatsApp
Fire Phone 4.6.1, rooted. It was the same when it wasn't rooted. It doesn't matter if you use launcher or not. I did hard reset and the issue is still there.
Now, my 4.4.4 custom rom tablet always receives notifications. I would think it's FirePhone issue, if it wasn't for Facebook Messenger, how the hell does it work?
I have 4.6.1 and have No Problem with Push Notifications. Rooted - Xposed - Greenify
+1 for this, can only get the push notifications with amazon launcher, that includes missed calls and texts

Ok, can you confirm that when you completely CLOSE Hangouts and get a message, it will send you a push notification? When it's running in the background, yes I can receive it too.
What am I doing wrong though? I checked all the options. How did you even get this red sticker? Can you tell what launcher you're using?
Notifications for 3. party apps when they are closed are not working. It doesn't matter what launcher is used. Some apps like tapatalk are not pushing notifications at all. There is also urgent necessity to fix status bar so it can show persistent notifications. I have sent more than dozen emails to amazon tech support urging them to fix notifications in Fire OS (for **** sake, we don't know if phone is in silent mode), and I always received polite response that my input is highly valuable. But I don't expect for them to fix notifications at all because devs screwed notifications intentionally. This ****ed up situation is not a bug, they intentionally blocked 3. party apps.
Sent from my SD4930UR using XDA Forums
I would agree if it wasnt for Gmail and Facebook Messenger. These bashtardos always get notifications no matter what and they are 3rd party apps. Meanwhile, Facebook itself doesnt have it. So there is a way 3rd party apps can get notifications, but HOW?
I don't have issues with push notifications either, you can try factory resetting the device, when I first installed 4.6.1(newest US build) some features were missing and they didn't return until I did a factory reset.
I have the same issue with Whatsapp and Facebook. Email and Facebook messenger are working fine.
Guys, when you say "I have no issues with push notifications" can you be more specific please?
Here's the question:
Close Skype (whatsApp) completely on your Fire phone, not just exit but close it. Now send a message from other device to your Skype (whatsApp) account. Do you get a notification on you Fire Phone? Just say yes or no.
Because me neither, I have no problems with push notifications IF THE APP IS OPEN, the moment you close it, it's gone...
Yes for WhatsApp, Facebook and Tapatalk. I dont use Skype
German Unlocked with latest US bin. Latest GApps. Hangouts, SuperSu, Xposed, Greenify, HDX Modules, Google Now Launcher with GEL Settings [root]
Ok, thanks! so we're divided into two groups. Now we need to figure out what's different. I have US bin, unlocked, 4.6.1.
No xposed and I didn't install latest Gapps. Will try.
Still no luck. Wondering what else can be done? I did hard reset already, it didn't help
How i did it :
3.6.6 - > wipe
Install 4.6.1 German -
Install 4.6.1 US - Wipe reboot
Start Device - kingroot - SuperSu
Again recovery and Wipe (Wipe dont touch /system.. So root is still there After Wipe.
Reboot and Use
If u really a Complete New System - sideload your bin into Recovery
Hey guys, i uninstalled Skype, Facebook and Whatsapp and installed them again. Now notifications are working fine regardless if the apps are totally closed or not.
Thanks

hydroman, when you say recovery and wipe what do you mean? Simple factory reset from the Settings-Device-Factory Reset?
I have the same issue. I spent 1 month with the amazon custumer service and at the end of the wheel they said:
I wanted to let you know that I've received a response from our technical team, and they unable to correct the issue you described with the notifications not displaying from your apps. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience. Our technicians have suggested the following troubleshooting steps, they would like you to try another factory reset to see if this corrects the issue.
Because a factory reset will remove any content you've downloaded to your device, make sure to back up your personal content and settings using the backup feature on your phone. You'll be able to restore your content and settings and download any Amazon purchases from the Cloud after registering the device again.
Any in-app items may be lost during a factory reset. Please check with the app developer for more details on their in-app policies before completing a factory reset. If you have Parental Controls enabled on your phone prior to the factory reset, you will need to turn them back on once the device is re-registered.
To factory reset your Fire phone:
1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Actions, and then tap Settings.
2. Tap Device, and then tap Factory reset your phone.
3. Tap Reset, and then tap OK to confirm

Hello there,
Over the the past year I have been using CM12.1 on my GT-I9195. However, yesterday I decided to check for updates (after few months) and there was one. I didn't notice that it was CM13 and .zip installed it. Then it got complicated. At first it asked me to update Google Play services, so I downloaded the Nano 6.0 pack and .zip installed it. Then it got bad... After rebooting the screen was black and kept saying that the wizard failed to install. So, I decided to download 12.1 again and .zip install it. Since then the phone is stuck at the CM logo. I tried to .zip install CM 13 again but after rebooting, it says "android is starting optimizing app X of XXX" and once it is done, it restarts itself and starts optimizing again in a loop.
My question is, is there any way how to make it run again without factory restore, or is there a way how to at least backup data like contacts and messages when the phone won't load?
Thank you

Hi there. If i am not wrong, u r unable to boot and u want to restore contacts n messages right? I think one of the options is go to recovery, take a nandroid backup. Now factory reset or flash a working rom and install "Nandroid Manager"(app). Then in this app you have one of the options to restore your contacts and messages. That's it. Good luck.!

just back up the cm12 rom from the recovery and clean install another rom cm13. in cm13 install the nandroid manager and using it you will have the option to select the backup file of cm12 and there then you will see restore options for messages and call logs.
Alright, Thank you, I'll try that

you would not be restoring anything from the old backup. only messages. it will not effect your new rom in any other way.

I am sick and tired of allowing things to get permissions on my phone over and over again. I never had this issue on my Nexus 6.

Stock HTC US ROM, and stock launcher.
The permissions reset all the time, and I have one friend that is on sprint on their ROM (I use the US unlocked ROM) and he has the same issue. where he will set the permissions to allow, and then out of nowhere the permissions reset on him.
Really irritates me with the google opinion rewards app, because I dont get any surveys since the app keeps losing the location permission.

any app that asks for permission the first time you open it is doing it, and it seems like it is almost random when it will ask for permission again. Like I right now I just opened my camera app and it asked for location permission again.
I dont see a box that says dont ask again if I tell it "allow"

don't think so its specific to rom... as i had used multiple roms and every rom gives me a permission option with that option as shared in ss
I have the same issue and it's really irritating. I'm on the stock unlocked version.
I didn't think it was the launcher update that causes it. I suspected it was the fact that I use adopted storage and when I reboot my phone, I noticed that occasionally some app icons appear unavailable with the "X" icon. When that happens, I feel like that's when all the permissions get reset (and lost)

tried alternative launcher to see? as i am not stock my result won't help much as there are few more users who is reporting this permission being reset on reboot....
Joining the boat here. My app permissions also get reset every now and then. It only happens after a reset of the phone. I always turn the phone off at night, next morning all permissions are gone. It doesn't happen every morning, just sometimes.
I'm on a completely stock phone, never tinkered with root and s-off etc. It happened on both the first software version it came with, and the current latest software from HTC.
I have also set my external SD-card to be seen as internal storage. Is that the culprit?
I have had the loss of permissions problem after restart for a while. It has persisted across multiple hard resets, and even multiple devices! I am working on a theory. For anyone here who has had this issue, did you encrypt your device? I'm trying to find a common thread, as clearly every device hasn't had this issue, but many have. Any input is appreciated.
Now I also can't even change the permissions back, as it claims I have a screen overlay. Not only do I not, but disabling screen overlay for all apps still results in that error.

What carrier version? Or are you unlocked?
If it's not encryption, I'm puzzled what other specifics could be causing this. Is anyone else using any other settings that could be somewhat atypical? How about launchers? Is everyone using a third-party launcher perhaps?
I'm on the stock non-carrier-locked software. Not rooted. Not s-off, nothing. HTC sense launcher.
Did you ever wipe the partition cache?
No. I did do a double factory reset 1 week ago, cause my device had become very slow.
Hi guys. So I need help with my M9. There's an OTA update, and it keeps failing to install. When I download it I try to install it and here's what happens: It starts installing it and when it reaches 24% it stops for like a minute then it reaches 25%. After that the % indicator flashes and then it stays like that for 1-2 minutes and it opens the recovery saying that it failed. This is happening on a stock, non-rooted device. If you can help I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
Boot to fastboot (white screen) and post what it says at the top of the screen.

Due to the phone being S-OFF we know that someone tinkered with it. Therefore, the system partition most probably is modified. That's why the OTA aborts. The slightest modification of the system makes the OTA security checks fail.
Get the RUU for your current OS version from the ReadMe thread and flash it with one of the methods that are explained in the same thread. This should restore your phone's system partition so that you can install OTAs, again. Be aware that RUUs delete all your personal data from your phone.

RUU tells me it reboots to bootloader and it doesn't actually do anything and the update fails, what's the issue there?

Please don't hijack the threads of other users. That quite impolite towards the OP.

You're right, I'll make my own thread and have my issue solver faster due to the OP being higher priority :cyclops:

I personally don't like backing up things in cloud services. Therefore, I'll only name offline alternatives.
Photos, videos, music, contacts and SMS can get backed up with MyPhoneExplorer. For backing up WhatsApp messages and its media files you'll want to use the app's offline backup function and to copy the WhatsApp folder from your phone's internal storage to your PC. I don't know a way to backup other apps (without root). However, restoring app data from older android versions often leads to bugs and glitches since directories change sometimes during system updates. Therefore, I'd recommend starting from scratch even if your phone was rooted. It actually doesn't take that long to set up apps, again.
