Hi guys.
This is my first thread as this is my last chance. I have my HTC for 4 weeks and everything was really well. It was on CM13 with TWRP 2.8.5.0 (95% sure).
Yesterday my phone turned off and after I turned it on again it stuck in bootloop (CM logo).
I tried to make a factory reset in TWRP but there's a problem with E: unable to mount /data and /cache.
I tried several things to repair it but i made things worse.
Now TWRP is starting as a recovery maybe every 6-8 time. Download mode is failing to boot.
So now I'm with bricked phone and I really need it for my work. Is there any chance to repair it? Or I need to prepare for expenses?
Thanks in advance for any help

If you can get into download mode, you can likely flash the RUU.exe from HTCdev. Turn your phone off by holding the power and volume up button. When phone is going on, slide your finger down to the volume down. Once in 'download' mode, you can flash RUU.

That's the problem that download mode is failing to boot. And when download mode worked and I tried to install Clean RUU from HTC site i had only list of files with 0% and after 10-12 files the phone was just rebooting. I think that there's not one problem as there's also problem in TWRP with "E: -unable to mount /cache" and "E: unable to mount /data".
How do you think what I should do as a first thing try to mount the partitions or go straight to installation of stock ROM?
Thanks
Usually those errors mean that twrp is borked. Have you flashed another twrp?. I use this one: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4vTiHTBB629XzliRF9OaTdjZ00/view?usp=drivesdk

If this error shows up because of bad recovery, boot into normal ROM, root and flash stock recovery or twrp
If this error shows up because of bad boot.IMG, then you'll have to restore firmware from kdz file via download mode.(download mode = plug in usb plus volume up(?)... You should see a "Download" logo, brightness mat be very low and you have to squint )
Thanks
Yes thanx i figured it out from reading threw the forums but your help was much appreciated now to find out why my vk810 will not upgrade to 4.4.2 keep getting a error message

I went to the Verizon store just now, their vk810 were still on 4.4.2, "check for update" says no update
Try updating via WiFi. If you removed any system apps, you need to put them back
Also, at least post the error :/... How can I help you debug if you don't tell me which step had the problem (can't search for update, update failed with x error code, tablet blew up to pieces during update...)
i did post it in another thread i started but never really got answers

Hi,
Just to know if this problem is solved...
If it is, then this is most probably useless... unless somebody else stumps into the same problem.
If I can guess it correctly, this message typically display when you have rooted your V500, installed a custom recovery from an app flasher (i.e. Flashify, ROMToolBox...) and the recovery isn't compatible with your device and you tried a hard reset.
This means that you are able to boot into fastboot and that is what's going to save you
Why ? Simply put : because you can flash some files using the fastboot command line
Try to flash bootloaders, aboot, boot and recovery just for a try. You can find those I guess.
Regards.
Stuck with "Fastboot mode started"
I was currently on Altev vk81035b-rooted-SU installed but no custom recovery. I followed Altev-Hnk1 instructions for flashing aboot.4.2.2 & commands (dd if=/......Etc) you know the rest) which successfully copied the file. Then when I typed "reboot recovery" BAM, that's when my gPad slapped me in the face with the following--> Fastboot mode started udc_start()
I press & constantly hold "power & down" buttons which always brings me to "System Recovery" screen listing 4 options, "Continue reboot"-"Factory data reset"-"Wipe Cache"-"Safe mode boot". Anytime I have a problem I'll choose "safemode" which always got me back in after any "Boot Verification Errors", but now it doesn't & I'm stuck no matter what I chose. I'm starting to think I may need to connect my laptop and flash the KDZ starting from scratch with plain-Jane Verizon stock!?!? Whatcha think, yes-no-maybe so!?!? LOL
OK really fast as I am late for work now
I was converting to gpe with the ruu file and it locked up. I reset and apparently my stock rom is gone, I can get into twrp but everything I try to flash fails. I also keep seeing errors about not being able to mount data.
I have tried to flash the gpe rom that it froze on and the viperone rom which also fails.
How can I go about fixing this?
I wont be able to write back or do anything until tonight after I get out out of work but ill be here as soon as I get home!
thanks in advance for any help.

Where did it get stuck? What error?
You SHOULD retry the GPE conversion process... as you maybe leaving something out.

Sending file just hung for hours. I closed it out and the phone was non responsive to a new terminal checking for devices. I can get to fast boot menu holding power and volume down but that's it other than twrp recovery.
The phone is rooted with an unlocked boot loader and its s off.
I cannot read a cid number or anything from the phone. It says fastboot but its the screen with *** unlocked *** at the top and the andriod guy laying down. Where I was flashing was the white screen with the guy skateboarding.
It will not respond to any adb commands, is there a way to get back the other screen?
I keep getting
unable to mount /data
unable to mount internal storage
with twrp. really don't know why
Try it with Philz recovery at first
..
Fixed (I think)
I Finally got it.
For some reason it would not mount the internal storage on the phone until I formatted the entire internal storage and sd card. Fortunately everything on both was replaceable.
I was able to install a cm11 nightly and then try the rest of the gpe conversion process which went off without a hitch.
hopefully this helps someone out there that happens to soft brick there phone and cannot mount internal storage or clear any cache.
It appears to be running just fine, though I have not tested everything.
Ill try to make this short.
I am S-ON
And in HBOOT my OS is blank
First things first. I was running liquid smooth 10/01 build. Its been running awesomely for a day now. I downloaded the newest build of the dolphin emulator, tried running baldurs gate dark alliance....and my phone rebooted, and got stuck at the HTC logo screen. So I held the power button and vol up to reboot then quickly hold pwr and vol down to get to hboot and rebooted to recovery.
In twrp (ive fasboot flashed captain throwbacks 2.8.0.6) it reboots literally about 10 seconds in.
I look at twrp's log and Im getting a weird error.
I have 3 lines of error
bear with me here remeber i have 10 seconds to see the error then it reboots.
***** is refering to the file name
"unable to stat ' /data/system/procstats/*********.bin"
"unable to stat ' /data/system/usagestats/usage-******"
"unable to stat ' /data/system/sync/stats.bin"
so....my question is how in the heck do I fix this.
I literally cant do anything, Hboot and fastboot work fine.
But I cant wipe any partition, I cant flash anything long enough for it to actually flash correctly.
And flashing the partition fixer doesnt help...
WHAT DO I DOOOOOO!!!!!!????? please?
since recovery is freaking out, can I just flash the stock rom through fastboot or hboot with S-ON? Could someone direct me to the correct stock files for "sprint M8 Harmon Kardon edition"?

Hi all long time lurker in the forums made an account today just to make this post so here I go. I was doing the OTA update for lollipop at night and it was taking a really long time so I fell asleep. I woke up in the morning and found my phone to be stuck in a bootloop :crying: looking at various posts I figured a factory reset would be my best option but it didn't work in fact it made my phone worse....It stays on the LG boot up screen for a few minutes then goes to a black screen. I went back to looking at forums again and found a post about how flashing my phone would get it working again but problem is that my computer no longer recognizes my device and fails to connect. Another option I found was to use the system recovery mode and apply update from external sdcard but when I do this I get E: failed to mount /sdcard (Invalid argument). I've tried 2 sdcards and formatted them both multiple times but I still get the error. I'm not sure what to do and I am willing to try anything.

This is what you have to do.
1. Take the battery out
2. Put the battery back in (dont press power button)
3. Press vol up button and connect cable (without pressing power button)
This should lead you to download mode.
If you do get download mode then follow the procedure of LGFLASHTOOL and TOT back to stock
I suggest using ZV6 tot or ZV8 if you were already on LP.
Best of luck!
After flashing the device using the link (finally got it working) it does everything it needs to do but when it reboots on my phone screen is says Factory Reset Status then it has a giant 2 on the screen so I'm not sure where to go from here. In the flash tool at the end it says
Mini OS boot check....
Mini OS status=2
Fail to set mini OS status 3

You did a CSE Flash or a normal flash?
If I was you I would just reflash with the CSE Flash with another kdz, or if you use the TOT, download another one and try again..
If anything change let me know

Okay so I'm new to all this rooting and stuff and I was messing around with TWRP and now my when I turn on my OP3, it shows "md5 checksum failed" with "cache:failed", "system: failed", "system_aging:failed" and goes into a bootloop. And I cant even boot it to recovery mode. It's driving me crazy!
Can you still boot into fastboot? Turn on with volume up, if so reflash TWRP, and then restore your backup, or flash a stock rom.

I can boot it into fasboot and I tried flashing TWRP, OxygenOs and even Cyanogenmod. Still didnt work.
Didn't work how, are you getting errors in console?. Can you flash TWRP and boot into it?
You have successfully bricked your device.
Don't worry use a Oneplus download tool to download stock firmware to your device in download mode.
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/guide-mega-unbrick-guide-for-a-hard-bricked-oneplus-3.452634/
The method 2 worked fine for me.
Go ahead..!!
Hope it helps
A bricked device is broken unable to be fixed, this is a soft brick as you can still get it to respond.
For future users if you broke something and want help please supply at least the following.
1. What you did, yes it's embarrassing but maybe someone can undo it.
2. What you are still able to do, can you access recovery, fastboot or adb.
3. What you've tried, if you try and flash something and get an error message let us know.
The more information you supply the better the chances someone can help. A simple my device is bricked help can't achieve much.
So I'm telling now how I got to this situation:
I'd installed a rooted OxygenOS with TWRP. I don't know how I thought it was a good idea to lock the bootloader after I installed TWRP, still did it. After that I was able to load in to fastboot, nothing else. Followed Method 1 on the link from Joyo-rocker and came to the posters message. Now I'm trying Method 2. Will update this post.
Edit: If your phone shows the boot messages "md5 checksum failed" with "cache:failed", "system: failed", "system_aging:failed" you need to fully reload your ROM over the unbrick tool. Look for Method 2 in Joyo-rockers link in this post (cant post links yet)

Go to the folder where the recovery tool.exe is. Boot your phone into Fastboot.
Search for cache.img, system.img, system_aging.img and put them in your ADB file folder
Type this:
Fastboot devices > doesn't show up? No worries I'll help you later this day just let me now.
Fastboot flash system system.img
Fastboot flash system_aging.img
Fastboot flash cache cache.img
If it boots and you don't have Sim and WiFi. Then reflash Oxygen OS and don't boot it! Boot it into Fastboot and type:
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
Now boot it and u can do whatever you want!

Why would you install windows instead fix the driver thing.
Was having problems with uninstalling the drivers. They would always come back so only way I could do it was by a reinstall of windows.
This was already mentioned, as i remember. Just let me search for a minute cause i had this same issue.

You see.. OOS had force encryption. Go to Fastboot and type "fastboot erase userdata" then go to recovery and flash OOS or any other rom.. Password should be gone now.
