Thank you for the heads up. Coming from the note4 and it was recommended we disabled knox. Wasn't aware it was different with the 7

I rooted so pay doesn't work anyway. I assume it only affects secure operations so with normal use it won't cause any problems . I had all knox apps disabled on my last phone with no problems.

More lag AFTER rooting and debloating?

This may be purely placebo... But I swear that after I rooted and got rid of a bunch of bloat last night that I am seeing more lag than ever. Seems sometimes it take longer for the tablet to wake. Ill press something and there will be a delay etc... Is there a possibility that something I did is causing a service to use more resources?

Is there anything else I should remove that would help?
Also, I can't use Sumsung Hub Video's, the existing videos I have won't play.
The only other Mods I have done are Multi-window manager, Wanam Xposed, Pen Window mamanger and trying out GMD Gestures.
Watching the Task Manager, it seems like I am using way more memeory than I ever used to. Before I would harldy go over 2GB now I easily see 2.3-2.5GB.
Please let me know if you have suggestions.
Thanks!

You may want to get betterbatterystats to see what services are keeping the tab running. Also, use Greenify to control the apps you don't want to autostart or keep running after you have gone back to homescreen. I haven't rooted mine yet, but thats what I use on my other tablets and phones. You could also try clearing cache and dalvik cache, and maybe doing fix permissions. But I again not sure if it will work out.
I get no lag whatsoever and im not rooted as I don't Like what Samsung has done with the knox security, the thing that has made the biggest difference for me is replacing the TW launcher with Nova Prime, I don't think the bloat ware makes such a big difference to this as it has such a large amount of ram, it's pretty hard to slow it down now
If I could now sort out the massive battery drain I'd be extremely happy with my purchase

Every time I have a lag, it's either bad file or bad app. I use System Panel in these cases to identify the problem. Last week my tablet was slow and hot all the time. For some reason Beautiful Widgets was using 100% of CPU for hours. Another example is a bad file (pdf or epub), search index was running non - stop until I found the problem.

OK cool I will check out System Panel. I did notice that I think GMD Gestures was causing some slowness. As much as I liked the program I uninstalled it. There was some weird bugs with it and a lot of times it would interfere with other things with the note, like disabling the palm rejection for writing and stuff.
If you are rooted, is there a good way to disable the indexing services?
I'm not sure, but i see smooth after root and remove bloat app. Did you set live wallpaper? Some live wall not optimizer make lag when use.
I had beautiful widgets pro installed while rooted and the device headed up like crazy and lagged. Could be app related

No live wallpaper, I hate them, resource HOG.
Maybe I am just being overly picky with how I think the tablet should run. I just think that at this point in the game of Android development and the crazy hardware specs that are being crammed into these devices now, that everything should run super smooth with no stutters or hitches. It's just disappointing to me that I have to hack and mod my device this much just to make it even just marginally better... Why can't this stuff be better optimized??!!!!

You can disable it by going to /system/app, and renaming, or deleting "ContentSearch.apk". But, if you do, your tablet will no longer index files that you add or change. For example, if you add a video, movie, or music, to the internal or external storage, the tablet won't know anything has changed, and won't be able to find the added file.
I would advise against disabling the index service. A better option would be to find the file that's causing your issue. This may help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2483944

Nice. I'm used to doing all of this with Titanium Backup. Guess that won't be a possibility this go around.
even though i do not see any OTA after I got my phone, i would rather just deactivate them until root. Can a moderator please keep an up to date list in the OP?

Cool, thanks. I just wanted a little reassurance that I was safe to turn all that junk off without any significant issues. Yeah, I know what you mean! All of those samsung galaxy apps, tools, payment methods, etc were really annoying when they made themselves at home on my device without my approval No matter - the phone runs great with or without that junk, so I am still extremely pleased overall.

Yeah, I'll report back if anything happens. I really doubt it though cause people with the de have turned off way more than we have the ability to with no reported issues.
BTW make sure you do not turn off Verizon login
A bit off topic, but does this phone have a ANT+ radio? If so can I use any of the Garmin modules (for example they have heart rate monitors, pedometers, and thermometer)?

You all are welcome, i always try to share helpful info for my friends.
Thanks !

This was also present on S6 and forward. Not new, but this should never have been added in the first place. I don't want random games on my phone.
I tried to disable but asked "Would you like to replace app with factory version?" Is another app that does the same thing going to replace it? I can't disable DT ignite if I don't click yes

Its because DT ignite has updates installed. Click yes and it will put the "factory" non-updated version back on the phone. Then it will allow u to disable as normal.

DT ignite is a cancer waiting to spread. Forcing apps to install onto the device that has almost half its storage already taken by bloat. Haven't seen any apps besides the beam software install without my permission, had to install Nextradio manually ( which has annoying ads ). DT Ignite could one day install an app that can compromise your phones security due to programming flaws. All quickrooter exploits have been patched, however if it feels like a Trojan it is a Trojan
Just updated my VZ Galaxy S6 edge plus 64gb and this Cancerous AIDS is in that update as well. Before my eyes I had apps appearing like magic installing themselves one by one.
This is worse than most phones that have crap in their root preinstall folder that show up after every restart
Haven't had anything wacky installed, it's even installing an updated Instagram not from the Google play store

Yep, you're right but as an adblocking app i think it's the best and easiest to use...
what else can adhell do as I'm still new to the scene besides ad blocking?
Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk
Disconnect Pro. Got it for free a few years back when it was on sale and it's always been my fall back for ad blocking. It's more for tracker blocking but ads are blocked because of it. It's not nearly as customizable as Adhell3 but it works good enough for me.
Using Blokada add block and ADB app Disable commands...
Can you setup blokada to block ads on instagram, and if yes which one to enable from options
Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk
Doesn't blokada use your vpn service
Yeah most of these non-root ad blocking apps use VPN, most run a local VPN and do not actually connect to a remote server to block out ads.
Samsung disabling ad blocking, locking bootloaders for North American models, Google blocking call recording in Pie, so much for "open ecosystem" of Android. Might as well get an iPhone at this time and enjoy 4 years of timely updates and dual SIM functionality.
I am going to create a bat file to disable all the unwanted apps and when I need to disable apps I will just run it and as I find more apps to disable I will just add it. I will also start using blockoda or DNS66 or DNSfilter.
I've been trying to find a good replacement app to disable packages/ services. That's my biggest concern. Before I got adhell 3 working, I was using Adguard premium, which is a great adblocking app, but uses more juice than Adhell and doesn't have the disable function. But, it does a better job at blocking app/ trackers.
Overall, it's kind of a give and take between the two, but I chose to go with Adhell because with my own testing, I constantly get an hour more SOT, and 2+ more hours of total use just from swapping those 2 apps alone. So, if anyone has any suggestions for a good FREE app, that can disable packages like Adhell, I'm all ears ??

Works great, anywhere, any device. No ads.
Ad Away on rooted devices FTW.
And on those devices, Titanium Backup freeze or remove whatever you want. Gone!

I use package disabler AND blokada, both work really well.
I use AdGuard and I have to say v3 is freaking amazing
No regrets

Using adguard. I got the lifetime license sometime back during a sale. It also uses local proxy if you do not want to use a VPN. Works fantastic, blocking ads in most apps.
I use package disabler to disable whatever stock apps I do not need.
After that I use YouTube Vanced for a pleasant ad free experience.

Samsung might start putting ads into One UI

You think this will happen? because those days will be the final days for Samsung.
Doubt it, and it seems that rumour came from a mistranslated joke.

Maybe but Samsung Australia say they don't put ads in apps. Yet there they are.
Anyone not using an adblocker in 2020 is mad, whether or not you feel ads should not be shown on your expensive phone is neither here nor there, they are there, install an adblocker or live with them, you don't even need root for blocking ads now

If it gets worse or there is no workaround then people should vote with their wallet and stop supporting these companies.

Now the dialer or phone menu, OTOH, if those start showing ads, that's pure blasphemy! And (Samsung) will pay dearly for that crap!

I actually use uninstall --user 0 which i did infact remove the weather app a few weeks ago, however i reinstalled a few days ago as samsung assured me that the latest update did not have ads,but it does.
But some apps should they start receiving advertisements like the weather did, dialer ect really can't be removed. Sure you can use a modded google dialer, but at the expense of spam protection. And there maybe third party spam protection apps, but why go to this trouble when the default built-in apps should be ad free.
