Touch Screen Issue - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Just got OP3 for few days and overall it is a great phone but just one thing kept me wonder if it was only my placebo ...
I feel the touch screen is not responsive enough. Sometime i swipe/scroll screen from top to down but the screen just move only little.
Has anyone experience this issue? Is it because of the screen protection film which come with the phone?

[Q] Screen Smoothness

I have an odd issue that has more to do with the physical feel of the glass rather than the smoothness of the UI. My screen seems to be missing the oleophobic (sp?) coating or something that makes it so that my fingers don't glide on the screen like my GS3 for example. Others have noticed this while playing with my phone without me mentioning it as well.
I'm a freak about my screens and keep a microfiber cloth with me at all times (ok maybe two or three) and haven't felt a screen like this since using my old storm 2.
Anyone else experience this or does this sound like a defective screen? I paid full price for this thing and don't want to settle for something that is not the norm.

[Q] Touch sensitivity / registration issue !

Hello everybody, I just received my g4 yesterday so I had it now for 24hrs and sometimes soft /light touches does not register and I find myself touching the same icon again to make it work .
Coming from Galaxy S6 it seems the G4 sometimes skip a touch or two.
Is that normal? Did anyone else noticed the same ?
Can this be corrected by software updates or is it something wrong with my G4?

Obviously this is the solution but comparing to GS6 and HTC m8 this was never an issue so I am sharing my experience with LG G4 to compare and to find out if this is isolated case or mass issue !
The G4 does not run on super amoled, obviously. The review units seem to have the same 'issue' when compared with other phones. It's the type of screen.

Appreciate your feedback
I just picked up my G4 today and am noticing the same thing. My Note 4 had a setting where you could turn up sensitivity, I have yet to find it on this phone
Give this app a try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=br.shop4apps.touchscreenbooster.com&hl=en I installed it and set it to Super Optimized and it seems to be making the sensitivity a little better. I am coming from the S6 so it was driving me crazy with all the missed registrations.
I'm finding it to be the opposite. While scrolling through my app drawer I end up starting up an app

I'm having the same issue, however I am running a Mime tempered glass screen protector. My cousin has also reported the same issue where it is missing taps, he's running a Zagg tempered glass screen protector.
To those with the issue are you also running a tempered glass protector?
I have a tempered glass screen protector. I did use the phone for a day or so before I started using the protector. The outcome has been the same for me either way. 90~95 out of 100 taps and swipes are registered properly but the 5 to 10% missed taps are starting to get really annoying for me. Most of the time I won't notice or care in a non gaming scenario though.
I have used the app posted above and it doesn't seem to really make a difference for me. Very frustrating because everything else about the phone has been great (battery, camera, screen, sound, etc). Debating if it's worth rolling the dice on a new phone.. We are in 2015 and this shouldn't be happening, last time I had a phone that missed taps was like 2011.
I was having a similar touch issue. But I fixed mine--or resolved it. I discovered it while scrolling through the reddit Sync app. I would have to press links twice because it wouldn't register the first time. Then for some reason, I discovered the issue:
IF the screen is moving (as in still scrolling from a swipe) ANY AMOUNT at all, the first touch does not open the intended link/target. Even if the screen scroll has slowed to an absolute crawl, but isn't COMPLETELY stopped, the first touch only 'stops' the screen. If I wait to touch until the screen has come to a complete stop, it works every time. Maybe my previous phones didn't have as tight of a tolerance on how much the screen can be moving before registering touches.
Other than that, the screen may be slightly less sensitive than other phones.
Not sure if this is the same touch issue you're having, but I hope this helps someone.
I came from a Galaxy S3 and have the same issue. It's driving me crazy!
Just to add to the topic I've come from a Nexus 6 and I'm experiencing the same issue. Definitely missed taps.

I am assuming the N6 does not have touch issues like this... I am going to be jumping to it from the G4, I think this is just an unacceptable phone. How is the size / handling of the N6 compared to the G4? That's my only concern...

Honestly I've had every Nexus device and the Nexus 6 I wasn't the biggest fan. It had none of the touch screen issues but the camera was not on the same level and in my experience neither was the battery life.
I also much prefer the size of the G4 and I'm not a fan of AMOLED screens I can't stand the black ghosting that occurs on them.
I've already contacted the Three store here in the UK where I got my G4 and they are happy to exchange but honestly I won't be switching from the G4. We just need more people like on here to make themselves heard and hopefully LG come up with a fix or it comes down to a bad batch.
That's not to say the Nexus 6 is a bad phone but if they can fix the touch screen issues on the G4 there really is no comparison in my opinion.
This was brought up by someone else, but for those that feel the touch sensitivity / registration is not workigng so well, do any of you have a screen protector? Whether it is Tempered Glass or a Protective Film it could be inteffiring with the display?
Also, if you are having problems and have something on your screen for protection, what type of protection is it and what brand? Just figure it is worth a shot asking and seeing if there is a pattern.

I'm using a CaseBase Tempered Glass Protector but my other half is rocking a naked G4 and the issues are still present. I actually already have another Protector on the way from a different manufacture because I initially thought that it could be the problem.
Then I began reading on here and Reddit and discovered we are not the only ones with the issue.

No screen protector for me.
No screen protector here either... it's just super frustrating to have a flagship phone perform this poorly.

I'm actually experiencing both the issue in the OP and the issue you're having where I try to swipe to scroll but it ends up tapping instead, though they happen at different times. There seems to be something wrong with these touchscreens since it seems to be a common problem.

Screen sensitivity and glass protectors

Hey all,
I've had the G4 for about 3 weeks and the screen sensitivity is my only gripe. It sometimes takes several taps to get it to respond and when scrolling in various apps it will not always respond. Like many others I have a glass screen protector and I've read a few times that people think that might be part of the issue. I want to test this without destroying the current protector I have by removing it. I have also noticed that if I need to push for several seconds on the same spot (mainly for long pressing on the keyboard) my finger will move around slightly and not always tap the area I was aiming for.
Anyone else remove their glass screen protector and notice better performance? Or maybe switching to a non-glass protector? It can be frustrating when thinking you tapped the screen and then doing it again and again.
I went to return my phone, peeled off the screen protector, and the difference was huge. Still very weak touch response even without a protector, though. Less sensitive than a Samsung or iPhone anyways. I decided to just get used to it and it doesn't really bother me as much anymore. I went with a warranty replacement to be safe anyways, and it does seem to be a little better than my previous phone. Still a much weaker touch response than my S4 ever had, but i will say that my gf's iPhone 5 is much worse with her thicker glass protector (i bought a really thin .2mm one, which has already spidered within a week xP)
Thanks for the response Ryan. I'll probably remove the glass protector as well then. I bought the one that Verizon offered which I think is a generic brand. It looks great on the phone but with this issue it's not worth it. Thanks again!
Just a quick update. I replaced my glass screen protector with this one from Spigen and it is noticeably better. As Ryan mentioned previously, still not perfect which I believe is something that LG needs to work on. The phone is not as responsive as it should be. The previous glass protector was too thick and this Spigen one makes a huge difference. I still occasionally have to tap twice but this at least makes me want to throw the phone less.
I use an Invisashield and I haven't had a single issue with touch responsiveness. I just got my phone a few days ago so maybe it's got something different. I don't know.

Touchscreen responsiveness X screen protectors

Have been using this phone as a backup phone for a while and now I'm gonna give it to my grandfather. Since he is 79 years old, a bit careless, I purchased a screen protector.
It's the typical 0.3mm shatter proof 9h but the problem is: I can barely pull the notification bar and the phone just feel like not responding at all.
You must press harder on the screen, at times with two fingers running down the screen to pull the notifications, typing is a nightmare. Since it completely lost the sensitivity, it feels like the phone is slow or freezing up but it's not the case. I'm pretty sure if I take the screen protector off it comes back to normal. Funny enough, if you run a touchscreen test, it works just fine by just lightly touching it.
The touchscreen is awesome without it, I used to play some minor games on this phone. It was my daily phone for walking and listening to music, I switched back to my Nokia 930 because I don't think my grandpa would be able to use a Windows Phone lol.
Has anyone experienced this kind of issue before? Don't think the phone will last long naked just like his Moto G4. (two weeks with a shattered screen then completely dead)
Should I purchase another screen protector?

The lower left of my screen is not as sensitive as the rest. Clicks take a few tries and scrolling is missed. The only one?

Is there a specific app you notice this on or just everything in general?
Obvious one, but do you have a screen protector on?
It’s in all apps and the fingerprint reader scroll is also not as sensitive. I have a thin film protector on the front but I have the same on the Pixel 2 XL and can barely touch it and it responds. LG vs Samsung?

Could be a quality control issue. Just because it's the same brand doesn't mean it will behave exactly the same. Could be thicker in that portion and cause touch issues
Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
Maybe the material makeup changes in different areas if quality control is really bad I guess. But I don't think the material is interfering with the touch sensitivity I think you would have to visually be able to see it's thicker in certain areas for to make a difference. I've got another one on the way and hopefully it changes things.
Top left of screen not sensitive anymore?
Something similar happened to my Google Pixel 3XL too. Top left corner not as sensitive as compared to when I first got it, not sure why?
Initially, I thought it's due to my new screen case, but after removing and putting it back, it did no difference.
Hello everyone.. i just bought pixel3Xl and i realised that
I miss Touch Screen Sensitivity....
Not every time but it happends and is so noisy..
I have a Good screen protector thow!!!
Any news if its a software bug or the screen protector?
Are you choose option hide notch on Developer option ?
Nop!
I'm having issues with touch. Last night when I was browsing as usual, my device started abnormal behavior and got stucked for unknown reason. After rebooting manually I found that touch response is so slow and have touch with force. Any kind of help on this is highly appreciated.
