Game Controller not working during games - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Everyone,
I recently got the official game controller to be used together with my aftv2.
While all the controls seems to be working well in applications/menus, Once I load a game only the back/home/menu buttons work - the same ones that available in my regular remote.
I tried updating my console to latest version - 5.2.1.1 I think, and it also updated my controller to latest version (427 I think)
I tried Deer Hunter and Duesex, both doesnt work. Sev Zero works, and using the PSP emulator controls are working well.
Any ideas what I can do?
My box isnt rooted.

ICS & Game controllers

Been keen for USB/bluetooth controller support (i.e. 360/dualshock) for ages, and I seem to remember it being suggested that ICS would include this feature - but I don't seem to have seen it mentioned since the unveiling.
Is this still likely to happen on non tablets? phonejoy doesn't really do it for me as I don't particularly want another controller knocking about just for my phone...
There's an app on the market called Sixaxis. Assuming you're rooted, give Sixaxis Compatibility Checker a try and see if it works with your rom/kernal.
Unfortunately, if you're running a stock rom it won't work. (Unless it's changed since the last time I tried)

Thanks, but as I understand it you lose it tv out, plus I'd rather stay on stock...
That being said I've just tried the compatibility checker and it suggests that my phone with stock and Siyah is supported BUT I don't have a dualshock to confirm it works? Would it work?

Actually its working now. I am running XXKI3 rooted with CF-ROOT, but I believe this is not important (older stock should work too). Recently the developer of Sixaxis Controler updated its version, and now its working on S2.
Ofcourse i recommend to try first Sixaxis Compatibility Checker, before buying Sixaxis Controller app.
For now i'm enjoying Tiger Arcade + PS Dualshock 3 pad
The only downside so far.. it does not support more than one pads simultaneously. So no multilayer.

Hi guys,
It's time for a new update...
Just checked the new version of "Sixaxis Controller". The SGS2 is now supported!
So now it works with a stock based ROM + TV Out! I tried it on a Criskelo ROM with the Siyah Kernel. It works fine!
To pair the controller with the SGS2, just follow the instructions listed here:
dancingpixelstudios. com/sixaxiscontroller/instructions.html
To activate the buttons of the Dualshock in FPse you should first disable the touchscreen buttons and set new hardware buttons. F.e. press "Start" hardware button while the optional field is on "DOWN", then press down (by the steering cross or the analog stick) the proceeding with the other buttons is the same..
here i've done a short video to proof the stuff.

[Q] Riptide GT and bluetooth controllers?

Hi there! I've been wondering what kind of bluetooth controllers are compatible with a stock Galaxy Nexus and Riptide GT?
Does the sixaxis work? It works for emulators. But havent tested it on nexus yet because i dont have mine yet.
Sent from my samsung gt i9250 which is in the wrong country.
I've heard that you need to have a modded kernel to use the sixaxis controller, but I don't know, that's why I ask
Sixaxis works great plugged in to the USB/OTG as it works as a generic controller (once you've got around the fact that google forgot to enable HID in the default kernel..). Riptide is almost a different game played that way.
Bluetooth in the sixaxis isn't standard so doesn't work out of the box, alas. There are apps to make it work but all the ones I've seen are IME applications, which aren't really designed for ICS (IME can only simulate keyboard events, not joystick events, so they're cheating, and you don't get the advantage of analogue controls that way).
The only bluetooth controller I've got working (FSVO working) is the iControlPad, but that's currently got a totally screwed up button mapping due to a bug in the iControlPad firmware. That may get fixed soon, though.
I'm sure in a few months there will be loads of compatible controllers on the market..
I know Zeemote is one thats getting bigger, I know several games are building in compatibilty for the J1

They shouldn't need to - bluetooth joysticks are standard and supported by default in ICS. Everything designed for Honeycomb/ICS will just work and no need for 'xxx controller compatible' mode hacks that earlier OSs needed.
If the zeemote is a reasonably standard bluetooth controller everything should work without extra software - but I haven't tried it and their website isn't forthcoming on it...
Edit: Google triumphs again - Zeeomote is *not* a standard bluetooth controller. Pity. I'd have taken a punt for 10 quid.

Using your phone as a controller

[Q] OUYA + CM11 + Games?

**This is NOT the typical "how can I get my OUYA **games on CM11"
Rather... anyone find any good Play Store games that can be played with OUYA controllers? If so I'd love to maintain a list here for myself and others. Bonus points if you can recommend Play Store games that use controller AND i can sit with friend(s) and all play on same TV (<-- this I cannot find at all)
Looking forward to some replies!

good question. from what I have gathered the best way to find games on the play store for ouya controller support is to use tegra zone as you can search for games that have controller support. maybe someone will chime in with a list or a better answer but that is what I have found so far.
Reicast (Dreamcast emulator) runs amazingly on Ouya with the controller.
You might wanna check out this app while it's still in the Play Store: Ouya Downloader
I just tested it this morning and it let me download games from the OUYA store w/o a problem. They installed fine, but didn't really get a chance to fully test them out as I'm running low on disk space (which is something else I'm working on); but judging by the filenames of the APKs, they seem to be the OUYA modified versions that will work with the controller. I'll continue testing tonight, but so far it looks quite promising.

I've used this for a few games. My favorite, Bombsquad, will not play. The app auto-shuts down because it doesn't recognize the system as ouya anymore. Have you run into this? And any idea what it may be checking (probably in buildprop) to counteract it?

The second post at this link has a list of games/apps that work with the OUYA controller. Any that work with the stock OUYA launcher should work on cm11 as long as you have the OUYA controller kl file in place. Should be able to install the button mappings for controllers zip from the cm11 thread to get it.

Yeah, doesn't seem like a reliable way of getting games.. I was able to download and install both Shadowgun and RetroArch directly on my Ouya, and RetroArch installed fine and seems to work fine, but Shadowgun installs and loads but stays stuck on the loading screen... I haven't tried installing Shadowgun via the Play Store yet, but seems like installing from that Ouya downloader is hit and miss...
Update: Shadowgun installs and loads fine via the Play Store. It also plays great. Just had to map all the buttons on the OUYA controller before I started to play.

[Q] Nyko ProPad + RetroArch

Hi Guys,
So after reading a few threads/reviews I decided to bite the bullet and buy the Nyko ProPad for my emulator needs. I'm currently using RetroArch namely the SNES emulators at the moment, the app seems to auto configure the pad which is great, but there seems to be some keymapping issues especially the start button (which is used fr the game app's options/GUI). This prevent me from starting any of the games i've tried (apart from Mario Cart which seems to start with the A button and works fine..)
Has anyone else had similar problems and may have overcome them?
I know there is nightly version of RetroArch where you can use customer .cfg files which may help.. I'm not sure anyone with any experience?
(just noticed the title should read "Playpad Pro"!)
EDIT - I have now tried this with N64 which i seemed to be able to play fine as i didn't need to use the 'start' button the start the actual game play (golden eye & mario Cart 64)
