i was trying to upgrade the radio to 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.08.29, after installing it i rebooted and the box with the orange arrow appeared for a few seconds then it rebooted it self and i got the black screen, i waited like 3min but nothing happened so i removed the battery and now the phone is dead !!!!
Was your phone GSM or CDMA?
it "was" unlocked GSM .
When you say dead... what exactly does it do?
Is there ANY chance your battery was low when you attempted to flash the radio?
Any joy with the phone plugged in?
Can you get into Fastboot?
totally dead the screen will not lit at all and the bat was fully charged, even when i plug it into the charger the LED's "green or orange" don't go on .
Wow, that does sound bricked.
Return to operator (if it's contract) and plead ignorance?
EDIT - I read on this forum once that someone managed to get around this by taking their battery out, putting it back in and turning it on. He reckons it worked after about 20 attempts...
lol it an unlocked phone i got it from the UK, i live elsewhere.

thanks ill keep trying that until it works, that my only chance .
If you can get in fastboot you can try to use the official htc update
WOW!! Same thing just happened to me. I was flashing the recommended radio and suddenly everything went black. Nothing works at all, doesnt even know its plugged in!
Edit: Well... I flashed a GSM radio on CDMA phone... Any help? or Did i destroy it?
Just a question. Are you able to boot in recovery mode? If so just restore your backup.
Do u canĀ“t back to fastboot mode and flash ur older original Radio?
Try this?
Cheers and good luck!

maybe you could stat out ur previous radio or more info before you flash the new radio for the dev to help solve your problem.
as i flash the new radio it was fine on my hero.

there are so many thread on the cdma forum for this. if you flash a gsm radio on your phone, it is bricked. there's no hope to fix it cause its an electrical issue i think, like you physically destroyed the phone cause of like a voltage difference or whatnot.
yap im not able to boot into anything the phone is dead it doesn't even charge the battery .
i had 3.1 - MoDaCo Custom ROM, when i read that its recommended to update the to 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.08.29 radio i did and that's when it died !
Well, I can't believe it, but I too am in the same boat. However, in my case, I am blaming a faulty SD card!
I already had an update.zip file on my SD card (which was a radio file that I never actually bothered flashing, having read that my current one was more recent). So, I deleted that file (or so I thought) and put the new CKDriod ROM on the card, renaming it to update.zip. I then put teh card back in the phone and updated via the recovery menu. The process was suspiciously quick, and after the reboot, I got the dreaded screen.
Putting the SD card in my PC, I was horrified to find that the old update.zip was still there (the radio image)! I don't know how this is possible, but that's the truth. Also, I am can only assume that the radio image I had was a CDMA image, and I have now bricked my GSM Hero.
Pretty bleak right now...
UPDATE: It's working!
To the guys that are getting the box-screen-of-death, how long have you left the phone sitting at that screen? I had mine on, sitting on my desk with the box + arrow + phone and nothing else, unresponsive to everything. So I carried on with my frantic Google search for answers. About two minutes later, I felt my desk vibrate, and lo and behold, my Hero had kicked back into life!

good for you ,i left mine about 3min maybe alil less, then i removed the battery and the screen never lit up since then .
Ok guys, Long time lurker, First time poster here.
Been hanging out around the forums for a while now, but this is the first problem I've ever had that I just couldn't figure out on my own.
Screen dead. Have to return to TMO. What to do about existing rom???
Last Saturday night I was playing around with my phone before bed. Everything was fine. Woke up in the morning and the screen was dead.
The backlight comes on but no display what so ever. No HTC screen, no bootflash, no nothing. Everything else still works.
I can feel events happening on the screen when I touch so the digitizer is clearly up to snuff.
Also I have been able to get the phone into fastboot from memeory, so its a start.
I contacted Tmo about a replacement and it arrived today. I'm running GingerVillian 1.4. So the big question is what do I do about the ROM on my phone. Also, what happens if they get the phone back and discover it has been rooted. Will I get a bill for the full price of the unit? Anybody know??
The way I see it I have three options, but if I'm missing something please let me know.
1. Attempt to flash stock ROM via recovery using up down vol and track pad. And just not worry about S-off. If it looks the look, will they check Hboot for s-off???
2. Attempt a side by side deroot using the new G2 and the broken one next to each other.
3. Physically damage the memory somehow preventing the phone from booting.
#2 seems like the worst option simply because I will have no way of verifying that any step in the process is successful... (Scary prospect) of course this applies to option 1 as well but I figure I could go through the flash process two or three times just to be sure. Option three doesnt exactly sound like a winner either, just putting it out there.
Comments please, a little help would be greatly appreciated.
I would go for the blind flash of pcimg10 from sd root. Then plead ignorance. Confused tho ...did u say u can see the bootloader txt or no?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
No, screen displays jack squat, nada.
Also wasnt there a huge writeup about how I'm not supposed to flash pcimg10...?

Depends on how you're rooted. I'm gfree'd and every now and then I'll copy that out to sd root and reflash it. It flashes fine, unroots the phone, but still leaves s-off. I've been thinking about this - again- after reading your post because I've thought this would be the worse-case scenario. That is a screen in some state where you just can't see what's going on.
If it were me, I'd at least want the factory load on it and hope that should they run some diags, put on a new LCD then boot it up, it could all be done without really noticing the s-off in bootloader.
For me though, I just would have a hard time physically damaging it - that would get me a 130$ refurb on my handset protection or if I tried to just kill some internal IC like the ram, I'd be even more worried they'd eventually find that for what it was.
edit: obviously your number 1 is the easiest since it's just answering volume up after giving it a few minutes on boot to parse the pcimg10 file.
edit2: okay, how about, hook jumper cables to it, blast it, then send it back and just claim you were hit by lightning
I'm perm rooted using visonary r12.
Yeah not going to damage it. I just wouldn't have it in me.
What worries me is if I flash pc10.img and something goes wrong I would have no way of even knowing it. Was thinking about just regular old CM6.1.
You people worry too much. Just send it in. As long as they receive an intact G2 with no physical damage to the screen (this bit is crucial if you got a swap out for anything screen-related) then you'll be just fine.
I have read on more than one occasion that if you cant turn on or see screen, as long as ur void stickers are still intact, and there is no water damage (moisture detectors all ok) they do not care.
Though not confirmed.
EDIT..... But if I were in your position then I would do as ZKID suggested with the pc10img thingy.
if there is nothing on the screen, it sounds to me that maybe the copper ribbon on the phone that attached the bottom of the phone with the keyboard to the screen portion could be damaged or loose... this happend with a buddies g2 and he was rooted and everything like you... he just sent it in as is and they never mentioned anything to him or gave him any problems because if it. he thinks they just saw the screen wasnt working and that was it.
I turned on my phone this morning and it booted fine, but when I came back from eating it was off. Now I can't turn it on at all. Is there anything I can do to fix it?
My phone does this when it overheats. If it feels warm, pull the battery and try to cool it down. After it feels cooler, put the battery back, and see if it boots up.
^ no go to that one.
Does your computer recognize it?
No, I haven't manage to get the computer to recognize it at all.
Some details please.
Please give us some details about your phone. Rom/kernel/Overclocked?/etc. I bricked one of my GSII's and had to send it back to Samsung. It would be nice to have a database of scenarios that are more likely to cause us to brick these things. If the computer won't recognize it and you can't get into download mode it is more than likely a total brick. Only solution I've seen is to send it back to Samsung. Wish you the best man.
I just rooted it using the guide on this forum and that was it. And it's been two weeks with no problem at all and now this. I got the phone from a tmobile store my sister's friend works at recently and I'm just waiting to see if they can replace it or something. How do I go on about sending it back to Samsung? Do I have to pay for anything?
And btw I just turned the phone on like every morning and left it on the table to go do my morning business and when I came back it was off and didn't want to turn on again. http://media.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/frown.gif
Hey what's up guys
I have here my DI2 of two years that I had S-Off, rooted, on MIUI ROM(was looking into changing it, but couldn't for reasons explained in a bit). About four months ago, it stopped reading any SD cards that it did recognize was insterted, but yeah, no reading. And yeah, of course, the USB port had to stop working too, of course. I bought an external batt charger for it and switched batts when needed. Perhaps I should've looked into fixing those problems before the phone bricked.
Anyway, I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary. Just checking up basketball scores and my phone just freezes at the home screen. So all I could do was take out the batt and put it in again. When I did that, it freezes on the HTC screen. Does it with both batts I have. And yeah it's a freeze as it's been stuck for running on 2 hours now. Occasionally, it will load up the Fastboot/Bootloader screen, but NONE of the options do anything, except Reboot and Power down. Can't get to any Recovery menu and it won't be able to read any SD if it did anyway. It has become a paperweight, a brick.
What can I do? Is my phone totally screwed? I'm pretty good at messing and fixing things through hardware. So if that's my only option, I can do it. Thanks in advance
Well if u have s-off theres really no way to get completely bricked unless it messes up ur bootloader. But if u can still get into bootloader with the two finger method power+volume down u can just flash the stock Ruu's via flashboot and u should be set. I believe there's also a brick tool floating around on here. Hope this helps. Thanks is greatly appreciated.

I've encountered this issue with many INC2, sounds like one of your IC chips are going bad. To be honest, if that is the case you're better of replacing the phone. That level of repair is very difficult. If it was just the charging port, I'd say go for it, but even replacing the SD Card slot is very difficult, the solder is underneath the the SD Card slot. I personally know how and have replaced the SD Card slot, but the IC chips are even very difficult for me. Try the charging port if you want, you can buy the part for about $5 and its a flex cable. As long as you can open it properly, you should be fine.
Hi,
My mother LG G4 just died last week. And it has a lot of important data.
What is the way to revive it. even if temporary. I just want to extract the data and take it to the store I bought it from (2 weeks until the end of warranty)
The problem is I can't make the phone to turn on. I saw some people having this issue reported that there phone just stuck in a bootloop. the problem with me is that I can't even reach that point. Black screen all the time.
I did froze the phone. and it works for less that 3 mins. didn't reach home screen.
I also tried the Big core disable method. the phone restarted before restarting command in LGUP. and still in bootloop with black screen.
Now I want to try heating the phone with hairdryer. hope it works for more than 1 hour
I encounter the same problem as you (see my post) do. Except LG UP is useless for me.
For what I've read here and there, the method with the hair dryer seems to be the better one. With this you should be able to boot him properly and save the data you want.
As far as I'm concerned I will try to get the phone back to my retailer even if the phone has an unlocked bootloader. Indeed, as the issue is hardware and not software...maybe...

I was rigth to get it back to my retailer as they fixed the phone. So I flashed it again and for the moment works like a charm (even though I notice like a screen remanence) !!
